I was thinking wow this might be one that I might be able to do until you got to the stairs lol but I’m glad you did it so now I’ve seen it thanks for the video Karl as always stay safe
Great Report. Every time when I stay near Mae Hong Song I visit this cave. It get never boring. As you mentioned the duration of the cave tour differs from guide to guide. Sometimes it is much shorter.
@@karlsthailand A few years ago the tours were shorter. On my last visit (March 29th, 2019) the tour was much longer and I was amazed at how big the cave is and how much I didn't know yet. The cave is supposed to go through the whole mountain and the river should come out on the other side of the mountain. I haven't been able to see that though.
Yes, I have been 4 times now and each tour has been different. I think some of it is seasonal, I guess they can use the rafts less when the water level is low
1989 riding an MTX125 i did a solo trip stopping here while doing the loop. Awesome memories. No entry fee just a tip to an 8 year old boy who showed me the way. I remember we swam the deep parts and scrambled up some ancient tree ladders to see the burial tree. I was the only person there. On the same trip I went off track and found an amazing Waterfall that I've never been able to locate since. I've got a photo of it. Very tall Waterfall with spectacular views from up high near the top... 2 weeks to do the loop. Explored many dirt tracks off the main road leading deep into the jungle. Would love to go back and try to retrace my journey. Maybe this year when we head to visit relatives in Sukothai for Loi Kratong we will go...🙏
@@karlsthailand yes the road was mostly dirt going to Pai, the loose dirt/dust was so deep on the road that at times the motocross was struggling and fish tailing all over the place. Those switchbacks going up the mountain were challenging 😳 even for a experienced rider. I layed the bike down a few times. 😆 I recall having some strange looks when I sat down to have a cold drink as i arrived in Pai. I had been wearing a bandanna and sunglasses and a scarf over my mouth for the dust... Later looking in a mirror I saw 👀 raccoon eyes and thick dust where I wasn't covered up. 555 Ah the good old days.
Its like a zoo down there with all the stone animals, reminds me of Somerset with the limestone cave network like cheddar gorge. Worth a tour one day for sure, thanks for sharing Karl 🙏🏻
I was in that cave 20 years ago. There were no help walking around then with wooden paths and stairs. There were a lot of snakes in there at the time.😀 We went when the cave was flooded and walking in neck deep water sometimes.
I really envy you Karl but I also love that as a bloke the same age as me you have done what you wanted to do. I wish I had, I will have to work until I am 67 so I can retire to Thailand. Not a problem though, I have a piss easy job and go to Thailand 3 times a year. Age means nothing of course, I still think I am 25. Take care my baldy mate.
You sure have an adventurous soul Karl! I was wondering if those fish will devour anyone who may accidentally fall in the water? 😱😱😱 They seem like they’re extremely hungry and will eat anything 😱Thanks for taking us along & for sharing this video 🙏🏼
Hey, you didn't tell me there'd be cave paintings haha.... just shows that you can go to the same spectacular place a few times and notice something new each time... amazing Thailand!
Good vid. In the USA we have something similar called the Carlsbad Caverns, NM. I think it much bigger but no creek running through the cave. Worth a visit if you ever make it to USA.
Great to see a foreigner that has made an effort to learn the Thais language. I'm pretty sure the locals would view that as a sign of respect.
Thanks, I don’t recall ever regretting making the effort to learn
Thanks again Karl, for bring us along on this truly impressive cave.
Thanks b h, glad you enjoyed it
Great video very intresting 👍😎
Glad you enjoyed it, it's a great little day out.
Awesome caves. You find some incredible locations. Great to see.
Thanks Toby
Wow. That's an amazing cave. Great video again Karl. Keep up the great work mate 👍
Thanks very much Warren, glad you enjoyed the video
Very Nice. It always amazed me how loud one drop of water is inside a cave!
Thanks for the Tour... Jim
Thanks for watching James. There's so much cool stuff in that area to see and do and that cave is a must-see. Cheers
I was thinking wow this might be one that I might be able to do until you got to the stairs lol but I’m glad you did it so now I’ve seen it thanks for the video Karl as always stay safe
Thanks Dave, there are stairs but you can opt out of the worst of them
That was great. Thank you.
Thanks GK, glad you enjoyed it
Spectacular stuff. Reminds me of Captain Nemo and his underwater city.
Thanks Ed, it’s a cool but easy cave to visit

Thanks. Yes, it’s only after multiple visits that you realise that isn’t it Hans?

That sounds like real adventure, I was telling someone quite recently just what bad condition that Chiang Mai-Pai-Mae Hong Son used to be in.

Thanks CJ and good luck with the new channel
@@karlsthailand 🙏Thanks Karl. Still do not know why it was shut done just as I hit 1000.
It sure is a great place to visit. I went there a few months ago as part of a guided day trip from Pai.
Thanks, yes it’s quite a good day trip from Pai

Yes, the comparisons to various animals started to get a bit too imaginative for me lol. And yes there are similarities to the Cheddar area

Cheers. I’m literally just about to hike up a mountain in Sukhothai as I type this Kenny
Thailand just keeps giving 🙌 did the Phraya Nakhon caves a couple of months ago. I'm sure you've done them too
That Phraya Nakhon cave is stunning when the light is right. Yes, an early video of mine is about that cave.
@@karlsthailand will search for that one, thanks
wow karl great vlog . made me think of the movie 13 lives ?
Thanks, haven’t seen that one Loz 😂
Karl takes us to a hole we all see another world thanks Karl your amazing and so is the cave.
Cheers Jason, I try to find interesting locations

Thanks for sharing. Quite enjoyable. Hope to see more of this.
Thanks Louis, glad you enjoyed it. The are plenty more adventurous destinations featured in my other UA-cam videos
A nice combination of walking and gentle rafting there. Those fish looked peckish, I bet your bag of feed didn't last long! Where are you off to next?
Cheers Mark, I’ve just hike down from overnighting up a mountain in Sukhothai
Cheers Karl, that looked awesome!
Thanks Mark

It’s a spectacular cave Jim but easy to visit
You never cease to amaze with these gems you know about.
Thanks for showing it to us.
Something different and a relatively 'safe' adventure...
Thanks Darryl, hope you are well
@@karlsthailand As well as can be at the moment thank you - grabbing ticket for Christmas trip tonight!

Thank. You could spend a lifetime exploring the USA coolhand, so many great locations there.
Cool cave Kalle. That white thing in the cave is that limestone?
I’m not sure tbh, I think it’s mineral deposits from dripping water
CREEPY LOL xxx
