Ahh mate thanks so much for showing this trail. I do it 2-3 times/week but start from the trailhead not from old town, good on ya! Now I can share with family and friends. By the way, that spot near the top where the trail meets the main road, if one takes that rough road to the right, it intersects the foot path again going left and brings one to the temple "the back way". Great channel, one of my favorites, why in the world are there only 5K subscribers?
Nice ! Thats a good effort Karl and co :-) I really liked both Chiang Mai and the Chiang Rai area when i first visited some 25-30 years ago in the 90-ths ! I had some amazing experiences back then.
No... Brett doesn't want to walk up the stairs to the temple because his thighs and calf's are screaming in pain and I don't blame him 😂😂😂he's done great considering that was a difficult climb on the monks trail, once again a brilliant vlog showing the beautiful countryside of Thailand that most tourist miss out on.
Karl & Brett nice one great walk thanks to both for great chanals been following you both for a while keep up the inspirational stuff very motivated stuff as always Karl hopefully been saying hello soon cheers
Thank you Karl & Bret for doing this trip. Yet again another one I won't attempt. I showed this one to my Thai wife and she agrees with me your completely mad. Great Vlog as usual. Big thank you.
One destination that i have actually conquered with you karl, many years ago. (On motorbikes) That trail looked tough, but rewarding. Fair play to you, some walk from centre of Chiang Mai.
I would love to live the lifestyle that you have now. Right now I believe Thailand is still a place where you can still enjoy with little bit of money that most people would make in America 9 to 5 roughly $2000/ month, but not in the west. We can't do much after paying Bills not much money left to spend it on doing fun things. Most of the time we have to stay home. It's very depressing and boring. This is why I love these kind of videos. It makes me have hope of doing something similar to this. Thank you for sharing and take good care of yourself.
Addaboy Brett!! It's not easy to do trails like this in the heat but he coped with it OK. When Karl says it's going to be steep, rest assured that it is going to be steep haha! Wish I hadn't of had to pull out of this trip.... next time
Fair play to you both for having such a great adventure and showing us another way to get to the temple (Brett looked to actually kinda enjoy!). I was able to take advantage of a micro light flight over that area January 2009 and it was that way that I was able to appreciate just how steep and awe inspiring the place can be. Thanks for taking us with you on another trip.
Thanks. Wow, a micro light flight over Doi Suthep, sounds great Darryl. Yes, Brett enjoyed it and we’ve done a jungle hike at Khao Yai together since then. The video will be up soon
Some walk that Karl maybe my little legs, would take me alot longer lol. Good on you both nice views and beautiful temple. Take care buddy see you in December 🇹🇭🙏
Nice one brother - love that trail! Used to run it daily when I lived in Chiang Mai. I’d have a breakfast smoothie at doi suthep temple and then diminish a real breakfast at Chiang Mai Basecamp. Last time time just pre pandemic sone monkeys has set up near Kuhn kat about 1/3 of the way up. They threw shit at us to get out of there campsite. I like the caffeine trail up to doi pui the best but it’s twice as far.
@@karlsthailand it would set you up for a great day I tell you. I’ve shared this to some of my old Chiang Mai running who are all missing Thailand atm. One of my mates could get up the top in 30 minutes and down in about 20 - he literally made this trail a Mecca for trail runners in Asia. He ran for Wales after the Chiang Mai trails turned him into an endurance monster. I usually could run to the road junctions.but had to do most of the second half as a power hike. Surprising how dry it looks in your vlog.
Another epic hill climb. I'm sure some of the Monks may have sensed your presence when you made it to the top stair after that journey entirely by foot... lol. Well done !! I though Brett made a great effort as well and maybe this is going to lead to more treks in the future for him. Me, I'm ready but I think I'll start training before trying for something that daunting. If it was a little wetter, or it suddenly rained, part of that hill might have not have been doable if it turned to mud.
Thanks Mal, Brett was great and yes, we have done some hiking together since. Last week we did a bit of jungle hiking together at Khao Yai National Park. Brett also did an interview with me which is on his channel “Brett Dev” right now
great vlog i think i still like to riding a motorbike to the temple its a great temple which won do you think had the better day with you brett or nick
I've been to Doi Suthep. Very beautiful place. Most Thai temples are awesome but Doi Suthep is one of the most beautiful. I went by public transport, not sure if I could do that walk.
I don’t suppose that many will want to walk up it Tony, I just thought it was an interesting twist on a video about a popular tourist destination. I agree it is a very beautiful place
I can tell you didn't do this route in the 80s with your jeans on: that would have been torture. I've not done any climbs in the North yet, just starred this one on my maps.
FANTASTIC VIDEO Karl xxxx
Yet another nice vlog Karl ..👍👍👍
Thanks Ride with Myke

Thanks TSIF, so the trail does carry on…I’m going to have to do it agin now 😂 Thanks for telling me
every time I watch your videos you're climbing up a mountain !!!
A lot of mountains in Thailand my friend 😂
The natural features of Wat Pha Lat are beautiful, evidently you gotta get off the beaten path to find the hidden gems.
Very nice place and very good weather for adventure Karl 🥰
Yes, the weather was pretty good that day. Thanks
Loved this. Not only our favourite place but our favourite food. Brilliant
Thanks Deborah, you’re a Hang Lae fan then?
@@karlsthailand absolutely. I can still remember the first time I ate it in Chiang Rai - just an explosion that sent the tastebuds dancing. Love it
Great pictures Karl just makes the scenery jump out at you and the weather looks good.
Thanks Andrew, hope Australia is treating you well

Another great hike Karl, and starting and ending with Hanglaes! Havent had one in years, one of my old favourites too.
Cheers Mark, I do love a Hang Lae Curry mate.
That was an epic trail Karl! Doi Sutep is beautiful! I cannot wait to check it out one of these days…..Thanks for sharing another awesome video:)
My pleasure Marietta, so many people visit Doi Suthep but very few will hike up there. Glad you enjoyed the video

Generally speaking I enjoyed the walk but the final stretch was tough 😂 Cheers Chris, hope you are well
Some brutal hike Karl, .. so love the photos of yester-year … .. and thanks for showing the Temple .. , keep em comin ✌️🙏
Thanks. I still have plenty more of those pictures, coming soon

My life isn’t all adventure PawGreig but yes I agree with your comments about expendable income here.
Brilliant video Karl, really liked the snappier editing and flow of this one should bring in a lot more views for you!
Thanks Voyage, yes, some more views would be nice lol
Amazing!

Yes Jim, I wanted to do it properly lol
Loved it there! I went the tourist way though 👍

Only been up on the bicycle so this is interesting
It definitely gives you another perspective hiking it. Not as long ass you might think but the last section is sooo steep! Cheerss

Easy to follow but tough at the top Brian. No shortage of hikes in that part of the Country
No bad climbing there not the Temple looked really nice. War on Kalle👍
Cheers Anders, a bit steep towards the end but not too bad overall
Can you please share the name or link to check out your hiking gps...thank you
