Yes it is a fantastic part of the world. I just finished a 2500km loop through northern Thailand. Starting in Chiang Mai then down to Tak and a big MHS Loop up to Chiang Rai, Golden Triangle, Nan and back to CM all on the back roads on a 125cc Honda Wave. Great fun, amazing scenery and very cheap.
very nice Karl, I drove 2300km from central Issan upto Non Khai, Leoi, Chiang Khan, Kanchanaburi bkk, back to Mahasarakham, after this we went to KO Samet on to Pattaya so see Nick Marti etc, BKK and home. 15 days driving in the car.
I went there 5 years ago and loved it. Chiang Rai too. Visited the Martyrs Museum and it gave an interesting history of the Chinese presence there. Thanks for bringing back pleasant memories Karl 🙂
Thanks very much. I would be on the road permanently if I could do it but it just isn’t that way right now. I have some good travel/adventure stuff coming up soon though
Yet another great vlog Karl. What pleasure to watch some interesting things about Thailand other than Tourist resorts. Tip, can you put a bit more things that you can get to eat.
Yes, seem to remember parts of it Karl, we stayed there once and managed to find hotel where we could watch Arsenal in a cup match. We had green tea served in a bowl with breakfast, before riding up past the kings summer palace, I believe, and on to the golden triangle. It has grown a bit, but still retains its charm. Cool place in the summer, literally!
That’s right Chris, I think it was 2004 and we rode past the Royal Palace area by Doi Tung. We basically followed exactly the same route we did from Chiang Mai to Doi Mae Salong
Thanks Dave, missed you at the recent UA-camrs meeting because I was out making the street dog video at the time and didn’t know about it until it was too late
That looks like a lovely little village, with nice views. You can't beat a good cup of oolong tea in the daytime, but after dark a beer is what is required. Two men marching purposefully towards a 7/11 in search of Chang is amusing! I'm sure you enjoyed them. Nice one Karl.
There are such villages along Thai-Burma border such as Ban Rak Thai, Doi Ang Kang, Doi Pha Tang. I like to be there for few days doing nothing just relax and read the book.
Just back from Chiang rai province went out to Phu Chi Fa fantastic in the mountains on the Laos border. Dropped by the sky pagoda near Lampang on way back to Chiang Mai. Of to do Mae Hong Song loop in a couple of days.
great vlog thanks hoping to go to chiang rai in November on motor bike again it looks like a nice town to check out thanks Karl and daystay fox he must be a big help to your channel
The whole Mae Salong area is stunning Brett, there’s a cool place featured in part 2 too. Yes, I’m very grateful for his help and I still have another video coming out soon that he made possible

That’s my idea of a Thailand holiday. You’ve done main tourist areas so why not go and see what else Thailand has to offer eh Gordon?
What a place - Thailand is such a big and variable country - thanks Karl
It certainly is Paul, I never get bored travelling here
Nice one fantastic views
Cheers Chris

Some great drone footage there of the mountains, Karl. It looks like a lovely area; I can't wait to go and explore it.
Cheers Brian, you’ll love it. In part 2 I visit a village that was new to me and blew me away with it’s location and natural beauty
Good to see you on the road again (and especially the northern areas). Stay safe - long rides on the cycles!

It seems like we both enjoy the same places in Thailand, Bueng Kan contains some of my favourite destinations
Appears to be a beautiful area, Karl.
It certainly is Paul. I would say a place that you really need to see with your own eyes to fully appreciate
Did they have hot water for your morning shower?. Nice vid.Happy travels and stay safe. God bless you 👍🏿.

Do the Chinese speak Cantonese or some other dialect (other than Mandarin) Karl?
I think it was Mandarin
Where the voices in that village shouting, look two farang's.
I can’t really remember tbh, I just knew it was directed at us and friendly

I wanted to keep the title Simple Alan. What are your plans here?
did you use an iphone to make this video
Yes, I used an Iphone 12 Plus to make this video. Cheers
15 days driving and another 10 travelling
I love driving in Thailand once you get out of the big cities
You need a half decent bike and some skill to ride those mountain roads .. I've come a cropper a couple of times in the rain... lovely area..
Yes, those scooters have their limitations but in fine weather it’s just stunning riding those roads there
