Just got my 96 yesterday.... Trying to have the master meter always showing master level. By default it changes to cue when a cue is active. Is this possible? Id rather use the individual channel meters for setting ther levels but be able to always see my main output on master meter.
Never understood why A&H has the master meter reflect the cue when they have channel meters or why they do this goofy "add mix" thing rather than a simple cue mix knob. Still shocked the DB4 only has split buried in its menu... with all that space for more buttons.
I have one of these mixers and it sounds so good! The filters EQ and general sound quality are an improvement over the Xone 92 but the Headphone monitoring system is so bad Id rather use my very well worn Xone 92. Xone 96 headphone output level dips when you hit a que then deafens you when you pull the que back out. Allen & Heath had the blueprint from the Xone 92 for an excellent headphone monitoring system so how did they manage to get this so wrong? My Mixer is un usable in a club enviroment becuase it is almost impossible to hear the headphones even at full volume.
I experienced this last WE at an open air-techno party. It´s practically impossible to beat match in you headphones during a party. Totally useless mixer for clubs IMHO
I love the cue system. It makes sense in a club environment. And the cue buttons should last about twice as long as the older ones. Edit. I thought u couldnt headphone cue the fi,ters but u can. Love this mixer! Perfect! 10/10
Please A&H make an option to always have master meter show master level. I never want to see my cue levels there, ill use individual channel meters for that.
Hello, Thanks for the message, The master bus VU level is a reference to everything running to or affecting the master bus/output. With this in mind, we can say the master insert obviously has an affect on the output level. If the reading were to be pre-insert, then it would not give a true representation of what the master output is running at. This is not something that will be implemented as it would not be in line with any sound engineering standards. Kind regards, Luke
Hmmm, was just about to pull the trigger on a 96 when I noticed this and it’s put me off. Maybe because I’m not used to it, coming from pioneer mixers. It does seem very odd that the master vu lights stop showing the master volume when a cue button is pressed. Surely the lights from the individual channel are enough to show the volume of the cued tracks? How do you know if the master volume being played is clipping the red lights if they aren’t shown? Do you have to keep checking all of the individual channel vu meters for that?
I love the cue system. Can never go back to the old way. Its also nice to habe the option of both on the 96. Many people do not know this, but. U can select the new or old way

It's still bizarre how nobody at A&H noticed how the switch between CUE and master had a big volume jump with the mix knob in the center. The only way this does not happen is when the mix knob is almost all the way clockwise, but then nothing of the CUE is heard anymore. How did nobody notice this during development? The 96 is close to perfection, but the CUE volume balance is really bothering me for the price I paid.
