    Few points to add for buying parts individually or unassembled:
    -Be sure you know the bore diameter of the block you are buying. For example b18c1 81mm bore is stock if you measure 82mm it’s been bored twice. You will need to sleeve if the 82mm walls are bad.
    -Check the threaded holes for condition all around the engine block and cylinder head.
    -no crank journal or cam caps with block or head , move on.
    -clean clean clean everything before assembly, all it takes is one piece of junk to ruin a motor. Even after it comes back from the machine shop, specifically the cylinder head coolant passages.
    - have the machine shop check block first before buying pistons. For deck height and bore.

    Dropping a valve is a way worse than spinning a bearing. Piston,rod, head, block. All done.

    Acl race bearing have a coating. That’s why it’s a little on the loose end. By far more safer then the standard.

    What is a good recommended b18c1 build for daily driver.
    I want something more robust . reliable. doesnt burn oil. and something alittle better than stock but yet still reliable as OEM.
    I was also wondering what header do you have for your motor right now. what size collector is the header , and are you running a test or pipe or stock cat?

      Alot of times when you hear these hondas tapping and rattling. Even when the person keeps up maintenance. That's the oil pump going out. Its raire that Honda oil pumps actually just drop all at once. But they lose pressure quite often. And cause premature wear in the top end. Especially when you try running a turbo and oil cooler.

    I have to say hondas are probably the most simple engine to work on especially in the engine bay.
    I had to do a headgasket job on my 91 240sx having never cracked an engine before and it was fucking infuriating at some points. You would think the engineers did stuff just to fuck with the mechanics who would be fixing it.

    So I’m a complete noob to the Honda game and the whole engine rebuild game in general, but I’ve found an integra type r that has got a spun rod bearing on piston 1, needs a new crank and connecting rod, as well as bearings. How difficult/expensive would it be, and would it be better to replace all the bearings/conrods while the engine is apart.

    • @MITONFILMS
      @MITONFILMS  3 роки тому

      just get a brand new set of rods and pistons and rings. Replace the bearings and get a new to you crankshaft (used that doesn't have any dings or scratches in it)
      Have a shop assemble the rotating assembly and do the rest yourself.
      Download the Honda b series guide book off the app store and the rest is explained there

  • @ecmobb8749

    You do not need a new crank or pistons the machine shop would mana flux the ones you pull out and know if there is any issues. Then they will check diameter of main and rod journals polish crank and order the correct bearings. Rings you will need to file fit them.

    • @dryyakiasoba1799
      @dryyakiasoba1799 4 роки тому

      Increasing bore could just end up making you have to buy pistons or rings. Unless you wanna burn more oil than prior rebuild. So yeah. I agree man. I do recommend the honing tho. And I rarely deck a block either unless it was run hot or something. I just hit it with a plastic buff pad. It will clean it. Polish it. Bit doesn't scratch or put or anything like that.

    I love your videos man but i would never use harbor freight tools to assemble and engine (torque, etc.), or measure anything with a product from harbor freight, thats just my opinion. When i went to tech school we re used the rods and pistons in a oem rebuild, but we had to go through and measure all compents to see if they where still in oem spec to be used again.

    • @MITONFILMS

    How to rebuild your engine. Step 1. Pay someone to machine you're block. Step 2. Pay someone to assemble the bottom end. Step 3. Pay someone to assemble a head or buy one per assembled. Step 4. Put the head on the engine and you have successfully rebuilt you're engine.
    Why say this is is a video to rebuild you're engine. It should be a video of how to open you're wallet and pay someone to do it for you. Xavier Nunn~built not bought. Not saying you dont know what you're doing bruh. I just saying this is a video on how to rebuild you're engine but you complained how hard everything is and to just take it to someone else, making everyone scared to even take their dipstick out. You didnt rebuild in this video. You assembled what someone else already rebuilt.... and you are a hypocrite with the whole book thing. I need not explain.
