- A judge sentenced UA-cam Mom Ruby Franke to prison Tuesday. Franke and her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt pleaded guilty to numerous counts of child abuse. Their arrests came last fall after one of Franke’s children escaped from Hildebrandt’s home with duct tape wrapped around his wrists and ankles pleading for food and water. Another one of Franke’s children was found in a similar condition.

@@brandonsmith2299 From what I understand they were seperated. Not legally, but seperated. Her living there with the kids and he living elsewhere. I think he also tried to set something up court wise, or tried to stop her. I think. But then again, he also may have been partially oblivious to what she was doing due to them being seperated.

If she had just taken the agreement and lived her life in prison proving there that she was reformed somehow she would be able to apply for parole at some point. Instead she was hoping that her speech would illicit some sort of sympathy - her "no intention speech" had clear intention.

A "total" acceptance of her actions would be an outright guilty plea, not a plea deal. A plea deal shows that she is.just doing this for a reduced sentence, not because she knows she was wrong.

Taking a plea deal is an outright guilty plea unless your plea is an Alford plea which specifically stipulates that you are not admitting guilty but concede the state has enough to convict.

During sentencing, she addressed everyone by name except for her children! She was kissing up to the people who had power over her. And it worked. As far this prosecutor & judge is concerned, any defendant who makes their jobs easier by opting out of a trial is remorseful. I'm sure that speech meant more to the judge than her children. I don't see much difference between what these women did and what the Turpin parents did. Turpins' are doing life with possible parole after 25. I think these beasts should be serving sentences at least similar. That's just my opinion.

No, I think she is serviing 4, 4 year terms consecutively(one after the other), so 16 years if i understand correctly. Not sure, but that is what i got from that. Actually NO....at the video at timestamp 15:48 the judge says....."4..counts, for 1-15years, for four counts." Did i get that right? So that means almost 40 years basically. I don't know

I just went and checked another website and yeah, they are explaining that what the judge said is..... four separate prison sentences each one are 1 to 15 years, and are being served consecutively.

I was shocked to learn how Utah handles sentencing. The parole and pardons board has all the power and authority of the term. So they have a broad idea of time they will spend in prison, no definite term. Parole board controls it once you are behind bars. Sounds unconstitutional to many of us , but, here we are.
