Absolutely and work place is not the place to go over the board in taking care of others because then people start taking you for granted... so just be kind with right boundaries and you will sail effortlessly..
You are 100% correct, nice people think every one is my team member only and helps in very very critical task but he never shows visibility/credit, but other people if 3:02 we just discuss what type task it is like also they populate as they helped us takes entire credit of work. Don't be too nice in corporate world. I am victim of that I know the pain of that, 3:02 due to that I lost all my pay and everything. Don't help anyone.
This is absolutely true. In today's world, being nice never or seldom works. Even if it works and the moment you deny somebody any help, all those people whom you have helped will turn against you and badmouth you. This corporate system is the worst thing in this world, especially in India . Only sycophancy works in india corporate system.
I used to be the nice person...but now I have learned one fact "NO ONE REALLY CARES"...because I know that I myself also don't care about other's problems beyond a point and that's the same with others. No matter how much you help people, they will always forget because once a problem is solved, everyone moves onto solving new problems. So it's much more peaceful to not be nice 24x7. Focus on your own life, and help others only if it's feasible for you, and then forget that you helped...because we all have yet another problem to solve in life.
Well obviously you have to “forget” about it if you helped others. Why should you be keeping a score in the first place? Don’t think about it as “other people” and “me” . Thinking like that is isolationist. Think of it as a collective. Even if your help is not appreciated, it’s still something in the whole scheme of things. Time will come when it’s appreciated. Just look at appreciation as a bonus. Don’t expect it.
💯% agreed.. I don't know why, but i used to be frank with everyone and suddenly for some years in recent past i was being too nice, like tooooooo much..never worked in my favor though. Muhje nice(mahan) banne ka shock chadha tha shayaad 😅 then when life hits, being real serves better. 1 advice to anyone reading this is, stop thinking what others think about you bcoz they are not, everyone is thinking abt themselves, so just be you and thats the real power you got.
Hello Varsha, you are helping/educating by your videos. Just now only understanding psychology of company as well as corporate people. I am greatful to you. Keep it up and help us. Looking forward more videos from you.
Thank you Ma'am for this valuable information. From tomorrow I will follow what you said in my corporate journey until now I suffered a lot of being a nice colleague
Hello Varsha, Thanks for all of your great videos. I recently retired from my job after working for 32 years for the City of New York. It got to the point where I basically had no interest in staying there any more, and management was terrible. Luckily I was able to do it financially, and will be getting a good pension. I'm now looking for a new, better opportunity, since I would like to have a second career. But I can now take my time and look for the right job. Much of what you say is applicable in America as well. Looking forward to your future videos!
It happened with me in my last company my manager was constantly bullying me and I end up in resignation I had slip disk and almost on the verge of mental breakdown
Good people pay a very big price of being good and this is very true with respect to the cruel world. My manager used to scream and abuse at me for mistakes whereas other employees who were close to their manager used to make more mistakes than me but the manager never screamed and abused them. In fact they don't utter a single word to them. This happens with most of the kind hearted employees as most of the bad bosses abuse their kindness. This is the biggest unjust system in the corporate world where nice people suffer a lot 😢😢.
Absolutely dear, being kind is great thing as long as it doesn't attract suffering, we have to be mindful of the fact that we should be kind but also recognize when someone is taking us and our efforts for granted...
Depends upon the situation. You will gain more enemies when you give more feedback. Sometimes people like honest people but not always. I burned out for being honest too.
Below is my message to teammates shared days back, just to make you know and went through this phase: As L2, let's be available to present any day of the week, discussing team updates based on documentation and existing issues. Avoid monotonous interactions to prevent undesirable situations escalated by the client. Let's keep things interesting for both learning and unlearning. kindly share thought about it. later no one replied, changed myself after. and in that flow, my feed has suggestion of your factful video. adding into my list. thanks
Don't hesitate to litigate and file charges with government agencies against your employer. Maintaining a professional relationship with an employment law attorney is key. It's never unprofessional to have your attorney communicate with the company. Don't say that you do not want to do a task, that's insubordination. Instead, recommend someone else that you believe is better suited for that task. Any exit from the company should have your attorney negotiate a payment in exchange for a covenant not to sue.
I am scared about what if in future I need to ask for help from other people. Last time I said no to them. Now I can't ask for help. It's like karma hitting back. What to do?
Dear, you have to say no to people who are taking you for granted or who are bugging you unnecessarily, its not that you will say NO to everyone who is coming for genuine help.. and don't worry you will find ways to get answer for your questions, its just that you have to let people know that you are open for genuine help but closed for lazy fellows...
Hi, Recently, my friend got a question in an interview: What would you do? If your seniors or other colleagues ask you to do their work because they're in some other meeting or busy,? I hope you clear this doubt for me and explain how to handle this question.
I was a nice corporate employee only from 9.30 am to 7 pm and after that I was a free bird. I skipped rejected all phone calls and important emails once I left office and I was not even afraid of the consequences. Jo karna he kar le kya ukhaadega mera tu boss..?? Simple funda,
7:57 I'd feel at that time I'd just want to be remembered. For whatever reason, Idk. Also that I'm an introvert who suffers from talking to people soo.. yeah
In 99.99% of vacancies posted currently, there are demand of only experienced candidates. Even if not such, then in the interview there are at least 5 to 6 experienced candidates as against 100 freshers. Whatever skill and how much proficiency one has, competition has reached a level that is becoming equivalent to Govt Job Competition. What would you say, Madam ?
That is true dear, I won't deny it and the sole reason is - supply is way more than demand and that is something bound to happen when you are a citizen of the most populated country in the world..
I was a nice person before I started working in the business world lol. What an awful place, I'm trying to amass enough wealth to be able to retire by 60

Ma'am I am working in Mumbai based co-operative Bank from last one year I am facing problem of dirty politics in my bank against employees how to deal with this bloody matter
LOL..🤣 That's majorly because of the good lights of the room and nowadays camera's have good quality, they hardly show the imperfections of the face/skin... so in total it results in good glow...

@@theCorporateDiaries Agree but it's very difficult to change your nature.
No need to change your nature, let universe to work in your favour.

@@tony_montana9122-- I was as you said like nature will punish , but this is Kaliyuga and injustice rule everywhere. Innocent people are suffering.
1- No objection type of behaviour
2- Shy from sharing negative feedback
3- Ends up working more than other
The context of the word "Nice" is important here. Here it means "Avoids conflict at all costs".

I am very mean. I keep a frown on my face throughout the work day. Don't talk unless absolutely necessary.

Agree that boundaries are important, but wouldn't kindness still have a place in the professional world? How can we cultivate a balance?

You gain enemies by being fake and over diplomatic and not revealing truth.
