- Hello and Hey! And today we go over the Paladin for the upcoming Baldur's Gate 3 (August 3!). This is an overview of the abilities they get and then recommendations for multiclasses or how I would level one if it makes it into one of my games!
Trying to limit Speculation where possible as some things we cannot know until release, but should be accurate enough to be an outline if you're interested in the class.
Thanks for watching!

Dear God, it has been downloaded. Playing split screen with the Fiancē on the 4090 🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@Big_Boss92 I'm still hours away Q.Q, Enjoy!
I plan on paladin/warlock multiclass but im having a hard time deciding if i want 3 or 5 levels of warlock. I guess ill figure it out when i get there tho. Great video.
That's a tough call. Considered adding that to the multiclassing list, but feels like it comes online pretty late too. If you remember, lemme know what you end up doing. Think I'd lean 3 myself.
@Ghostzapper that's what I thought at first but I feel like 9 pally doesn't add much. Either way I'll have 2 level 3 spells slots. Luckily there is respec in the game. I'll try to remember tho.
Look up Dungeon Dudes Hexblade Paladin. Don’t know how it will translate into BG3 though.
@@mrface569 Hexblade isn't in BG3, but (reworked) Pact of the Blade gives a lot of the draw. Takes a 2 level deeper dip, but still potent!
I'm way late on this but my advice of Warlock 3 aged like milk. The extra attack from Pact of the Blade stacks with Extra Attack from Classes cause they aren't the same.
Considering pure Paladin, going all in on divine smite.
I like it. Good reason to multi with a full caster. Get even more slots to pump them out. But I totally respect staying single class for the Paladin Features, Improved Divine Smite, Lay on Hands, etc.
Hello. I just got the early access 2 days ago and decided to make a Paladin. I was given two choices for subclass while creating my first character. I am now level 3 and I don't see the Oath of Vengeance. I was looking forward to trying that. Is the Oath of Vengeance locked until the full release of the game?
Yes, you'll have to wait until tomorrow. :p Also, launch will basically reinstall the game, so I hope you're prepared to wait around for that again.
@@mavrelnotmarvel What do you mean by reinstall the game? Will there be just an update? Requirement says 150gig atleast, but the game only contains 70gig plus
@@reynaldbatul2259There might be a conflict with the game files, so the advice is to delete all save files you have and uninstall the game and then install after launch.
What you were Playing was early access the full game launches tomorrow
If I'm making an Ancient Paladin, what stat distribution do you recommend please?
Probably something like 16 STR, 10 DEX, 14 CON, 8 INT, 10 WIS, 16 CHA.
@@Ghostzapper Thank you very much :)
I'm really racking my brain trying to make sorlockadin work in this game.
I'm not in love with Sorlock, specifically in BG3. My plan was thinking to go Warlock 5/Sorcerer 5/Paladin 2, but so far I've felt some friction with trying to use the Spell Slots I want. Like it was making me cast Hex at 2nd Level despite only having 2 levels in Warlock. And I couldn't convert the Warlock Spells into Sorcery Points, even though it was in the Warlock section and SHOULD have worked. :/
@@Ghostzapper Not being able to convert Pact Slots sucks, I was thinking doing 6 paladin, cuz you can't go wrong and then some mix of warlock and sorcerer, but I don't know how worth it is now if at all.
@@gavinerickson9392 You can convert them, but I couldn't get it to not use Sorcerer slots first... Hopefully something that gets fixed. Paladin is so good in this game, though!
@@Ghostzapper Yeah that's weird, I feel like you should be able to pick, that's always been a very important tactical decision in 5e.
@@gavinerickson9392 Sidenote that the Warlock Pact of the Blade feature that gives an extra attack actually stacks with other classes Extra Atack.
Do you get aura of protection as a oath breaker too?
I'm 99.5% sure. Haven't tested for myself in BG3, but works that way in tabletop. And even my Paladin (who has broken their oath, but is not an oathbreaker) still has access to her permanent auras!
Isn't 7/5 paladin/bard better than 6/6?
It's just Aura Vs. Bard Feature + 5th Level Spell slot. Don't think either are objectively better than the other.
How do you build Paladin charges?
Not sure if which you are referring to. But if it's Lay on Hands or Channel Oath 'Uses' then you just get a set number at certain Paladin Levels.
If you've broken your Oath but not chosen to be an Oath Breaker, you can't have any Oath Charges.
@@Ghostzapper Oh ok, like spell slots? Thank you
Paladins being so front loaded makes multiclassing them feel absolutely filthy, so I’m really curious how balanced the game will feel with paladins around lol.
A player in one of my games was playing a fighter/Paladin and action surge smites basically delete everything I threw at them 😅
I think you're bang on that some things are just gonna be ridiculous balance-wise. And seeing those things be abused while solo'ing the hardest difficult will be fun. Appreciate that Larian is willing to give players that type of power.
However, not gonna be that great if the normal difficulty is a pushover. Delicate balance, all while trying to design for the masses. Hope they got it right!
Also. RIP your encounters, lol.
