      You can also do this to make pick pocketing easier. Even if you fail the check. They won't chase after you until that conversation ends. The kids at the druid grove do that exact thing to you. And most don't realize that it isn't scripted into the conversation. It's another kid literally performing the action on you during the conversation. And you can switch out to another party member to catch him in the act. Lol

    I've been using "Sleep" a lot to cc enemies. One thing I noticed is that sometimes enemies companions will actually wake up the enemies you have slept so to counter that there are stuffed teddy bears in the game. If you sleep an enemy, you can on your next turn throw a teddy bear at that enemy which will make that enemy enter into a deep sleep at which point they start to suck their thumbs and become immune to being woken up until the sleep turns have ended. Very cool mechanic.

    Some loot containers you can pick up and send to your camp. In the camp chest you can use them to sort things into them like files into folders. Makes navigating the camp chest a lot easier.
    And then you can pick up the container with loot from the camp and sell it to a vendor as single item, for the full price of everything inside.

    • @ardentdfender4116
      @ardentdfender4116 10 місяців тому +41

      That’s just a very cool idea. The ability to sell a designated loot chest, backpack, box, crate all in one go at a trader with everything inside for full price of all the item inside in one transaction is a huge timesaver. Because you can then have multiple storage items already inside a camp chest or even your inventory designated for specific items or junk rather for Trading. The thing so far is in game you can’t actually rename chests, crates, backpacks etc that are all storage systems. But I guess what is possible in while playing the game, adventuring you can just have some fun picking up interesting or unusual large storage containers. You can litter them around at camp as different storage items each their own maybe separate from the camp chest. Just up to player creativity.

      This is beyond busted. In 5e, there's a select few abilities you can use to get one piece of information of an enemy. If you know the statblock, it's considered metagaming to play your character like he knows it too.
      Meanwhile here you press T over an enemy and the goddess of knowledge blessed you with info about every single stat, saving throw, ability, and what not. It's TOO busted. I wish they gave you out of combat resources like Monster Manuals and such, or word of mouth/teaching from a scholar that would give your character the knowledge of certain monsters, so that you can know select info about select few monsters.

    • @XBezerkerX
      @XBezerkerX 10 місяців тому +18

      @Isaax It doesn't really give you that much info and it doesn't really 'help you' since your still reliant on dice roll.
      In most cases the character sheet is irrelevant because the games attacks will tell you their % to hit so you can ignore the character sheet entirely by just clicking a few different ability saves and looking at the % to hit.

    Another good beginner tip is to go to your "Reactions" tab and activate all of them for all your characters and, crucially, tick the "Ask" box on all of them. Now the game will ask you if you want to use a reaction whenever it is applicable and if you notice that you always click yes on some of them (like Sneak Attack) you can untick the "Ask" box on it while leaving it ticked on the ones that you want to be able to think about (like Divine Smite).

    A piece of advice that nearly every guide and youtuber seems to miss. That ive been trying to post every where i can: Torches. They are broken early game. They arent just for sitting in your inventory and pressing the torch button on the ui to have light. They are in faft a club weapon. And basically one with a fire enchant. This has two implications.
    1 - As a club, it works with a druid's Shillelagh cantrip. Which will increase the club damage from 1d4 to 1d8. As well as make your attack modifier wisdom. This means a druid or nature cleric has access to a one handed weapon that can do as much damage as a greatsword/axe. Due to it being 1d8+1d4(fire damage). This makes a level two dip into druid with shadowheart one of the best decisions you can make until you unlock respec and have the money to do so. Also of note, the cantrip makes it a magic weapon whilst active. Circumventing resistances to non-magical weapons by some monsters. So the torch has a LOT of miles on anyone with this cantrip.
    2 - You can throw them and get the fire damage effect along with the crushing damage from an elevated position. Making them the best non-throwing weapon in the game to throw. As you'll pick up plenty and not need to buy multiples of them.
    I hope this helps people.

    • @pruzarias

    There's typically a general goods vendor (in act 1 it's the gnome at the grove). They always stock a camp supply which will get you a long rest. For some reason, these are really easy to pickpocket so long as your sleight of hand is good. Almost impossible to fail. Since you get it for free and long rest triggers them to restock, it's pretty much impossible to run out of long rests.

    Love reading tips from other viewers in the comments, so I would add that it's worthwhile to collect visually distinct containers to keep in the camp storage chest. There's A LOT of items in this game, so I separate out good armor and weapons, quest items, extra supplies, camp clothes, dye, etc.
    Also, enchanted amulets and rings are very light and it's worth it to keep the good ones in a pouch on your main character. A lot of the spells on those items can only be used once per long rest, so you can swap it out for something else.

      It also adds crush damage to thrown weapons. Which scales with height difference. During the fight outside the druid grove. You can throw a bowl from the top of the cliff onto a goblin below. And it will do one damage and something like five crushing damage. So, if you throw a javelin or spear that you may have gotten from the ruins or crypt. They'll hit real hard in that fight. Just remember to pick them back up after the fight. You can go Eldritch Knight for Bonded Weapon. Which will return your thrown weapon back to your hand. Making it so you don't need to carry multiple throwing weapons.

    Along with trading being in the dialog menu, you can also change character in the dialog menu. This lets you distract enemies while you sneak around.
    Eg start a dialog with someone while your rogue pickpockets them/robs their house or store.
    Or while a villain is having a big ego trip speech, sneak around behind them for an ambush.
    Dont pre jack turn based mode, doing so lets you get a sneak attack off before turn based mode starts automatically and then another sneak attack immediately after and then another sneak attack almost immediately after that since the enemy loses their entire first turn to "surprised" (you can get super cheesy with this so use or abuse at your own discretion)
    Also picking up chests isnt just useful for lockpicking later, keep a variety of chests in camp storage to use as organisation, important items and gold in a gilded chest, food in a wooden crate etc

    Camp and inventory Massive tip to speed up selling. Well first of all you should loot bags, backpacks, bucket of fish, pouch and store those in camp (keep some on rogue or other). The next tip is massive, you place very organized bags and buckets ect on top of the main big chest (at camp) you can rotate the cam to line this up well. These will be the trash collector bags, instead of selecting one item at a time you wanna press ctrl + left click on every trash item and highlight bad items. Because u have the bags on top of the main camp box you can click these to open windows and drag those windows to the side ready to dump trash in. Once you have highlighted all the trash you dump it right in the window of the bag or pouch or bucket. This is the organizing tip completed you can do it for weapons and such if you wish. Now to vendor things fast you wanna upgroup the party by dragging the toon icon away from the left side to untether them (act of own). Send the highest charisma toon to trader on his own, keep any other toon in camp to be the slave. Once at the trader you can click the camp slave toon to pick up bags or buckets on top of that camp box and press tab and send it to the toon at the trader. The trade is speeded up because you can dump that bag or bucket full of trash in the barter window and the trader will match the price for all of the junk as he wishes. This saves you clicking anything at trader just a simple drag and drop one bag/backpack/bucket limited by weight ofc. Repeat this for each trash dump back at camp. A further advanced tip is when out in world looting you wanna have a collection of container type on the looting toon (my rogue) and ctrl + left click the trash you loot and drag it to the container inside the inventory of the rogue then send to camp to speed up the process. By using pouch/bucket of fish/bag/backpack as you loot in the world this will save tons of time when back at camp. Further Tip for OCD, you can place book, weapon, armor infront of a backpack or box back at camp this acts as a label system to speed up storing stuff. GL

      you can't talk to many people if you're the one who killed them, however the disguise spell (which is free with the traveler chest peculiar clothing gift helmet) you can unlock this and make them talk to you again. can also be useful for some theft attempts, like reseting "free passes" from touching NPC belonings before they aggro. useful for stealing the icon of sylvanus later (which by the way, if you turn it in to the children to complete their quest, you can then pick pocket it back from them. after you get halsin back they will be in the open in a crowd but casting fog will let you pickpocket undetected)

      Of note, you can speak to the dead on the dwarf who is the "Chosen One", my first successful attempt and it was actually a perfect use of it (made perfect sense story wise/RP wise where I was too)
      Dead people who "recognize you" and hold a grudge against you will indeed not speak to you. Apparently they do not notice it if you kill their friends after they are dead themselves (as with the dwarf). I got the skill from the book and also the necklace, to speak with the dead, and apparently now I can recast it endlessly? No idea if it always was like this, if not, I may have broken the game (unless it's intended or if you can simply recast all failed attempts or maybe it was always unlimited I'm not sure)

    As far as clicking on inventory slots goes, it is also worth noting that it will include any containers you have in your possession. So you could put all your armor in one sack, weapons in another, etc. Then when you want to try out a different build go to camp, drag that container onto your character, click around to find the pieces you want, then put the containers back in the inventory. If you select the items that way, whatever you previously wore will be put into the container the other item came from. Can make it easier than taking all, and putting all the items back.
    Also -- and it took me a while to figure this one out -- you can use CTRL clicking to select multiple items, or shift clicking to select rows of items, and you can then ctrl click to deselect specific items. Makes it easier to move lots of stuff at once, especially if you order by type before hand.
    Heck, inventory management could almost be its own entire video in this game (for better or worse).

  • @YoKins
    @YoKins 10 місяців тому +3

    Thanks for all the tips and tricks. Much appreciated!
    Some things I'd like to add/clarify:
    Always entering turn-based mode so that you ensure you have the first round of actions is great but take note of positioning. If you can enter a battle with initiative first and have surprise actions, you'll have a larger benefit to your rolls than utilizing turn-based mode to initiate first.
    Ranged attacks always suffer at melee range, JUMP is one of the best options to utilize often as typically when an enemy closes the distance (such as using dash), you can jump out of melee range to utilize your proper ranged attacks.
    Many mage classes/subclasses use aoe attacks which can be great for groups, but not so much when your own party members are a part of that group.
    Positioning, positioning, positioning. Toggling group mode before entering a battle can be invaluable and allows you to position your characters in a much better way for you to utilize every party member's strength. This is even more so when you have someone with good stealth abilities (such as Astarion). If you can catch an enemy alone, you can separate and/or take them down without starting an area-wide battle.
    I recommend to never use auto-select for camp supplies because more often than not, you'll end up over-utilizing the /40 requirement and could be wasting 1 or 2 camp supplies that may need later on.

    So even though characters like Hope do not have inventories, you can still heal them up with potions you have in another character's inventory. If you can't throw it at a character, this is a good alternative.

      i thought it depended on size? that enemies had to be small. maybe it's just that small enemies weigh less. regardless the reduce size spell can let you throw enemies but even more easily used to reduce size of your allies and throw them over obstacles or to move them when it's not their turn or without using their movement speed. similarily you can shove your own allies to get them away from zone's of control so they won't get attacks of opportunity made against them.
      void grenades are OP cuz i think it's a 100% chance to pull everything regardless of size over a big distance, easily pulling an entire encounter or boss fight into a cliff. obviously these are limited in number and usually found on dead mind flayers.
      throw build barbarians are crazy strong. beserker gives you enraged throw, dealing more damage with high strength and knocking people prone, it's a bonus action so you can throw 2-3 weapons per turn. the tavern brawler feat makes this damage even higher. meanwhile eldritch knight will have their weapon return to their hand after throwing, so it's good for specifc magic weapons that trigger effects on hit or when thrown, such as the healing flails.

The death saving throw icon appeared, but, from my understanding, because the healing potion next to the character was smaller than them, it smashed the character, THEN the potion, which healed the character back. There are some places where you can't long rest willy-nilly. For example, there is a quest in Act 3 that you have to do within a certain number of days to get the benefit of having done it. Also, you'll need to feed Gale artifacts in Act 1 on long rests. (I think he will take a total of 3, but I could be wrong.) Otherwise, camp supplies don't really inhibit camping unless you simply don't loot a lot.

      Also if you talk to drow lady in act 1 before they attack the druids, and Grymforge quests are time sensitive. Made me fear long resting a bit lol

      I don’t think it’s on long rests, but rather based on „new area“ triggers. He asked me for another one right after some obvious new area transitions.

      What happens if you don't feed Gale? I'm in Act II and I've only fed him two times after doing 20+ long rests. Good to know he only eats three and stops, if that's what you meant.

    For transferring items, you can also drag items to their avatars

      I had a problem with that. Dragged a bunch of healing potions to my tank and can't find them. Checked the ground in case I misclicked and dropped them.
      After reading some tips here I am thinking that they are auto collected in a bag. 🍍

    I knew most of these, but increasing the hotkey row amount, and clicking on equipment slots blew my mind. Excellent video.

    Yes, I'm glad you’re covering Baldur’s Gate 3. Should be lots of good content down the line!

    One small correction, High Ground gives you a +2 to hit (and Low Ground a -2 to hit) and not Advantage (which is roll 2 dice, picking the highest result).
    I'd love more BG3 content from you, love your stuff for Cyberpunk and now that the game is fully out I expect the modding scene to take off.

    If you find a backpack out in the world and have been stockpiling explosive/oil barrels, when you want to use the barrels you can put your entire inventory into the backpack then store it in the camp chest to free up carry weight. Click the first item in inventory, then Shift click to the last item in that character’s inventory to highlight all, then click and drag them into the backpack. To recover them just open the bag in the stash and take all, your inventory is now full again with that chars gear only :)
