A black, red and gold dice set in a video published on German Unity Day? Thank you for this special gift on our national holiday. It's been a wild ride this last 30 years, but the best is still to come.
I will 100% pretend that I planned such an amazing coincidence. Guten Tag from the U.S. my German friend. I have buddies out in Frankfurt, so I wish you the best of your day of unity!
I love the chaotic variety you get with dice sets like these. It's a really interesting way to get a cohesive colour scheme but keep all the different dice looking unique and different from each other
@@silg7262 Yes, that's safe. You have to pay attention to what they're allowed to be used for. Such as, I could use neon mica in resin, but not if I was making bath bombs.
I've had a lot of trouble with this method of dirty pouring. By adding the alcohol ink on top of the resin before pouring I ended up with soft dice that wouldn't fully cure (similar to his issue during his petri video). The method that worked better for me was pouring small cups of fully mixed different colored resin into one larger cup to make layers. Saw it in a GarageQuest video on youtube. Gave me much better results.
I love this method! The layering kinda reminds me of Damascus steel which is such a neat combo! Also the blue ones give me a Van Gogh vibe and the rotten watermelon d6 is still slightly cute
@@redfox5109 ok, just realized how taboo that statement was. let me rephrase. a nice LOOKING set of chessex. my set is literally skewed towards rolling three's, but it looks so nice.
Seeing that I'm early on the video, just wanna say thank you, Rybonator! Without you, I wouldn't have started in this hobby that I love so much! I definitely spent a lot more than I would if I simply bought dice, but the fun I have is worth every penny! I never thought that I'd be the artistic type, but guess I was wrong! Thank you! You are awesome!
Would you be able to do a video trying to make dice without a pressure pot?? Maybe giving some tips to those of us who don’t have access to one (it’s hard to find a decently affordable one here in Canada)
@@ShugoAWay I mean, making your own pressure pot still takes materials that aren't necessarily readily affordable or available to a lot of folks. Dice making's kind of an expensive hobby to get into so a video about making them without the aid of a pressure pot would still be useful.
Nice going on keeping the dirty jokes pg-ish! I salute you sir! The colors you chose in the first set remind me of starry night and I love it! Awesome job as usual!
Puns into dirty jokes, color me impressed. Question, got any halloween themed idea for thid month? Because I'd love to see your take on jack'o lantern dice
Hey there, I’ve started making dice with your videos this year January, and i want to thank you! I’ve learned so much from you and grew so so much!! Since i cannot afford a pressure pot I want to give a tip for people who aren’t using one: Invest in a heat gun and heat your mixed resin in the mixing cup and let it stand for a good five minutes for the bubbles to leave before pouring, it works wonders! Even if you don’t buy a heat gun, let the resin rest before and after pouring (but before putting on the cap!!!) Also i wanted to ask if you could possibly make a tutorial on vent squish moulds, @rybonator?
That dwarvish inspired set is just beautiful!! I love how you can really see a difference between each but they all still mesh together thematically so well. Every time I watch one of your videos I'm so tempted to invest the time and money into starting making dice beyond UV resin in pop cap molds ... you terrible, terrible enabler, you.
I found your channel 3 days ago and started watching a lot of your videos, I really didn't think I would enjoy something like dice making because honestly, I've never been that much of a crafter, but you got me on all sides, my love for D&D, super pretty dice and absolutely fantastic videos, not to mention you being super humble! love it love it love it!
I love Mad Mica, I use them in soap. But, just so you know, only natural mica is sourced by child labor. Most micas are synthetic however, especially the less expensive brands. You can always check a manufacturer's site to find out if the mica is natural or synthetic, and if they're certified ethically sourced if natural. Mad Micas is amazing though, I would definitely recommend!
When i dirty pour, i treat the resin like acrylic paints or soap- i mix the colors into separate cups with a little resin and then add them in layers into a pour cup- that way you never have to worry about them being soft from not quite well mixed inks
The white looks really cool if you are going for an ice/snow/worn metal effect. It might not swirl like the rest of them but when paired with the right concept for dice could look really awesome
Honestly these are gorgeous. The randomness is great but each one looks like a swirly Starry Night type painting and yes. Just yes. The white spots looks like chunks of snow so that’d be fun if you wanted something winter themed.
I tried making my own sets of dice, the microcbubbles proved to be too large, so inking was hardly possible, and i was using an early type of sprue method with no toothpick, i am currently about to buy a pressure pot and make new molds.
@@Rybonator ur awesome dude, your videos are really really amazing and all the work u put in really shows in every single video like i plan to start resin stuff after I finish exams and im literally addicted to ur channel side note: when u end each video saying I hope u have a wonderful day it just makes my whole week dude, thank u so much
Its really cool to see this method. I watch royalty soap and she designs bars of soap and also uses micas and diffrent kind of pouring techniques. Dices are so much smaller and its really cool to see how diffrently it works
So excited to learn about Mad Micas (as well as some new techniques)! I'm just getting into dice making and had yet to purchase any mica pigments, since I was aware of the ethical concerns and hadn't tracked down a good source yet. Thank you for the recommendation!
I finally tried this method today on a coffin trinket box. I can hardly wait to see how it turns out. I might use my S&T dice molds to try this for dice.
A possible suggestion for a future video? I recently discovered the ancient Royal Game of Ur and instead of buying a game, I want to build it. What I would like to learn is, how to pour the four, D4 dice needed with no numbers BUT....with two white(or off-color)corners. Yea, I could paint the corners but well...you know. lol It would be awesome to be able to pour the corners , then the rest in a 'nail polish color' called ''Vamp'', which has a red base with a thin black overcoat, so the red 'bleeds' through like an under-painting and then two bright red corner tips on each one. Thanks for any help and keep up the good work with the awesome videos!
So, I was lucky enough to be able to try this technique shortly after this video came out. I LOVE it. I tried it with 1 set and all my friends and I loved the results. So, I made another set with an interference color. I didn't think I could love a set more than that first one, but some how I did. Loved them so much. So, I have a third one curing in the pressure pot right now that is a red base with black and gold alcohol inks. Man I hope they are just as cool if not cooler than the others. This has got to be my favorite technique I've seen you do. I might try to make a set that looks like wood for my larp buddies.
the white on the blue set looks awesome, and I particularly love that you share my love for readable dice. You'd think it would be the norm but damn some people make hard to read dice. I have a friend who owns a black set of dice. They are black, the numbers are etched into it. No colour for them, just black. Hard to read from up close, almost impossible from a distance.
Sorry, odd request, but could you do a "Mystery Men" styled dice? Like the bowling Ball with the skull in it? I know of a guy who makes skulls but they would be better suited for your giant D20 die. He goes by DaveyDog on Instagram, he is in Australia but I can guarantee that he would love to help out.
The variety on these is really cool, I feel like you could use that for a really good themed set while still allowing the dice to be a little chaotic. The blue set is definitely my favorite, I've got a bias towards cool color dice to start with, but then they just turned out so well too!
I'd say even with the origins of your old mica powder, you might as well use it up; otherwise it's a bunch of little bits that won't decompose ending up in the water, or you have it sitting around forever. Besides, you've already paid for it, the company doesn't care what you do with it. The best option is just to not buy more when it's gone, and probably mention when you do use it that you're just trying to use it up. Or even limit it to personal projects you don't record, to save the effort there.
Thanks for mentioning the Mica issue, I don't always read the comments so if you hadn't said I'd probably be buying cheap and exploitative mica without ever knowing
Saw another video that did dirty pours but they only put in the ink in the cup as it is pouring, I think that would help give you more control over what kind of colors get put in and keeps the layering more distinct since there's less mixing.
NurtureSoap and BrambleBerry also sell micas that are ethically sourced. They're cosmetic grade and disperse as well as any other mica, plus with NurtureSoap you can get a few that are 5-25 micron particle size, which is great for a light shimmer and also for dispersing in water for a liquid center dice.

Amazing videos. Really enjoyed them. I’m trying to make my own dice but I seem to be having issues with voids at the top of the mold. My wife got me a set from wish and no matter what I do, since I don’t have a pressure pot, I keep getting voids at the top number (typically the 1 slot). It is now a part of me haha
Thanks for mentioning that about the micas, I didn't know that. 👍
Try using the Vallejo Gold, you may like it better!
Always happy to try new gold :)
Finally new video! I was in withdrawal xD
What are some other good dump mold ideas besides boxes/lids?
I made Resin Miniature Bases as well for my dumps :)
I love watching acrylic paint dirty pours. I never would have thought to use it for resin! I wonder if you can get the cell effect on dice?
Hmm this isn't the video I thought u were gone a make, but still awesome!! The blue one looks so cool!!
Also the d12 looks like a desert and the sky, maybe full af deadly beasts and extremely hot ;)

@@Rybonator I thought this was gonna be the spoopy video because the pumpkin twintig (:
Wow these look great
Amazing videos. Really enjoyed them. I’m trying to make my own dice but I seem to be having issues with voids at the top of the mold. My wife got me a set from wish and no matter what I do, since I don’t have a pressure pot, I keep getting voids at the top number (typically the 1 slot). Looking forward to making my own molds though soon. Thanks for the videos and keep up the great work.
