Lyrics:
Do you feel what I feel, see what I see, hear what I hear
There is a line you must draw between your dream world and reality
Do you live my life or share the breath I breathe
Lies feed your judgment of others
Behold how the blind lead each other
The philosopher
You know so much about nothing at all
Ideas that fall under shadows of theories that stand tall
Thoughts that grow narrow upon being verbally released
Your mind is not your own,
What sounds more mentally stimulating is how you make your choice
So you preach about how I'm supposed to be, yet you don't know your
Own sexuality
Lies feed your judgment of others
Behold how the blind lead each other
The philosopher
You know so much about nothing at all
How unfair was life with him: A nice guy, never on drugs and only a social drinker. And unfortunately a terrible cancer made him to stay a long time at the hospital and finally that cancer killed him. Simply not fair. But in the end, I wanna thank him for all the music and his legacy, which will never die. 13 years without him but always in my heart. RIP Chuck.
His legacy will stand the test of time.Gone but never forgotten RIP Chuck
Yeah it totally sucks. And honestly, even though everyone that listens to Death praise Chuck to death i still think Chuck is underated.

I will never forget back when ppl used that AWOL instant messenger and my best friend one day 20 years ago sent me Crystal Mountain and I was immediately hooked on Death! I love how much of a Role Model Chuck is, he was such a perfectionist there's still no one that will ever come close to the impact this true Metal God has have! See HAVE not Had as I do believe there's a Death Metal Genre and wow! I could stop there and Chuck Schuldiner would already be in a league of his own but no, Chuck was relentlessly obsessed with just that right perfect note after note after note! The most humble man in Metal as I just love how sweet, kind, caring, and whenever he'd be just Chuck joking around, I hate insurance companies as he was taken from us all because of stupid damn insurance companies but just how he kept it going all the way up until he knew that it was and I can't believe how they denied him the life saving treatment all over some stupid line in a vicious policy! But how he humbly just let the music speak for him, once he was in the final little bit of time he had he spent it not getting loaded, or spending one moment showing how poor me! He quietly went and spent the last bit of time with his family! But Not a day goes by where I know I hear his influence in so many songs or the Genre term Death Metal!
How could anyone not like Death?!
Demani Brown Death is a great band. you're just too idiotic to even look up the lyrics to this song and other songs by Death after their first three albums. It is philosophical and more meaningful than what genre of music you listen to,also don't talk shit about something you don't like asshole. There is something called personal preference,so why comment on a death metal song if you don't like it?
Demani Brown simpleton
Music is meant to be beautiful. It's meant to have melody, harmony and rhythm. This is just screaming over non sense music. The fall of music began in the early 1900's with blues and jazz. It started the trend of soulless, mainstream and simplified "music" that has plagued all popular music. Heavy metal, and rock are so basic and have no layers, it's boring and a-musical. You guys need to discover real music, and start listening to classical, but I doubt people who listen to death meta will listen to me. How am I the simpleton when you're listening to this basic, soulless trash music. Also, lyrics about a man suffering from Leprosy don't count as "great". Cheers!
Phahaha no comment lol :'D
Christopher Stewart it took me a wile to get into death
Chuck seemed like too handsome of a guy to create such brutal music, lol!
Brutal music is beautiful.

How it bridges the music change makes it even heavier. So good
Just like the 5 seconds scream at the final of "Together as one", on the album Human. Epic.
Last chorus: ua-cam.com/video/bg0zCD1XCtQ/v-deo.html
And 20 seconds later into the song he literally raps in a death metal song
1:17 that riff and that solo can raise a man from the dead
Exactly I'm normally a guy who usually prefers riffs to solos, but damn Death might be the only band where it's difficult choosing between the two

Him and Alex webster are up there. But Steve has been in sooooo many different bands he clearly has a huge discography

In later years, he was attempting to get away from his own creation. To get away from being pigeon-holed, "death metal". I think with Death's last 4 releases, he did just that!
Why not simply "Smiling Death".

Not all metal is deep like death is
Depends on the band, some are heavy just for the sake of being heavy. Not every metal band has some profound message, some just like to be aggressive (which is fine if that’s what someone wants)

Chuck was of those people who were just undoubtely very special. Born with an invaluable and unique and widely rich talent for the music he created is a landmark in the death metal scenario since he is considered the father of this musical genre and this fact just proves it. Besides nobody like him was so much passionate with the things he loved...a very good son,sane...in sum...a good guy who loved his family and animals...no drugs,no alcohol...just pure and genuine talent...surely God is happy Chuck is with Him.

I grew up in the town where Chuck lived and died, Altamonte Springs, Florida, went to the same high school even. I had so much respect for this dude. Super nice guy, intelligent and hard working. It was a soul crusher when he passed. He and a few others from that area were the beginnings of the Florida death metal scene and I hold him in such high regard. Not a day goes by I don't wonder how his career would have unfolded. He had so much more to offer to the world of music. Alas, fate had other plans for him. RIP Chuck, never forgotten. 💔🤘
Do you happen to know where the video was filmed? I'd heard many years ago it was a state park in Florida but never found out.
@@RiffsOfDeath That's definitely Kelly Park in Apopka, Fla. I would know those rocks anywhere. Rock Springs is the hole the water comes out of. Spent most of my childhood there. Super popular place. When Robert Kelly, the man who used to own the land, handed it over to the state on his death, the agreement was that they would never charge admission. That didn't last long. Used to be $1 carload admission when i was a kid and free on tuesdays, now it's like $5/person. Many amateur divers have died exploring that cave. They eventually put bars over the entrance to keep people out.
@@starkraven7308 wow! Thanks so much. I'd always wondered where that was since that video first came out. It's definitely a bucket list destination for me.
I just looked and were 9 hours away so it does look possible!
It would’ve been amazing if Chuck and Alexi Laiho had been able able to collab. They loved each other’s music and musical ability. May they both rest in peace, along with many many other musicians.
I belive that if Chuck would still be alive metal would be way more popular as a genre in the world today. He was like a mozart or bethoven for this genre...
One night I dreamed I was lost in a forest close by to a town and I didn't know anybody, but I didn't know how to get out of the forest. Then Chuck Schuldiner appeared and told me where to go and I found a way. He was so nice and gentle, calm guy and inspiring.

what a fuckin masterpiece, first heard this when I was 12, now playing jazz but still remaining here with Death...The philosopher, you know so much about nothing at all.
Ironically, Chuck was quite a philosopher. Ever single one of his lyrical works on many of his records fall in the category of philosophy.
BUTT-HEAD-"Hey check it out, it's Jeremy!"
BEAVIS-"Yeah, he's still running"
The ending of this song, starting with Steve's bass solo and ending with Chuck while Ralph incorporating that bad ass riff and Gene with that jazz style of playing is just perfection
the second guitarist is Andy laroque .. and yeah its perfect !
nour light Right, Andy was technically the one was there initially. Good to point out
What? Ralp Santolla never played on ITP.
NightRider Nope! lol'd
Ivan - same with Lack Of Comprehension video. Original bass tracks were done by Steve DiGiorgio, but video was filmed with Scott Karino (Human touring bassist) as at the time DiGiorgio had commitments in his main band - Sadus. Here Andy Laroque only ecorded few solos for ITP, but there was never a question of him becoming Death full time member due to King Diamond/Mercyful Fate daily job.
That opening riff slaps so hard

Robert Wood I actually met Chuck after a concert. Nicest guy you'll ever meet. The good always die young
I was a DEATH METAL fan in high school Class of 98! My roommate/Best Bud opened
for Death at the "Live in LA" show they later released the live album/video from it.

I'm glad to hear you say it like that. It's good to know new fans appreciate chuck and recognize his level of skill and talent. Nobody did it as good as Chuck. I can't believe it when ever I'm talking to a younger metal-head and they don't know about Death...C'mon man!

Легенда останется легендой спи спокойно мы тебя не забудем
А Коррозия Металла - Героин
This riff.
meh, early stuff. it's so wall of noise.. although 'zombie ritual' off the first album always makes me laugh, 'symbolic' and 'the sound of perseverance' are on a whole other level and much more sophisticated. (if I can associate that word with screeching metal music!)
sausageman Did you ever see the episode of Beavis and Butthead where they mock this video and Schuldiner's vocals? LOL. It's funny how Beavis and Butthead seemed to always draw the line at death metal despite being huge fans of Slayer and Pantera and what not. Anyway I digress.
Death's first two albums (Scream Bloody Gore and Leprosy) are a bit too much for me, but I love their technical / progressive metal sound on their later albums. "Human" and "Sound of Perseverance" are my two favorite Death albums, by far. And dude, these guys were RIDICULOUSLY talented, especially the drummers. There's a reason why Gene Hoglan was nicknamed "The Atomic Clock."
***** Hell yeah, Hoglan is amazing. He uses e drums too on 'symbolic' which I thought was just great. The drummer on 'perseverance' may almost be better in some ways (I know I find it easier to play symbolic myself) Something happens with 'symbolic' and 'perseverance' that just separates it by a world from the earlier stuff. It's progressive.Even human is trapped in the early sound. They really found their sound and it's very distinctive unlike the earlier stuff which I think is very genre based and basically interchangeable with other bands no matter how talented they may be.
And no, I haven't seen that beavis and butthead! hahahah I want to!
sausageman This song is really not representative of the rest of ITP....songs like "Jealousy" and "Overactive Imagination" really fucking move. Actually, this song is a bit odd put next to the rest of the album--very slow and groove oriented.
I think ITP gets overlooked because the mix is so terrible. Even this remastered version doesnt do much for that. Gene's drums sound like wimpy plastic, the guitars are tinny. Actually the only thing decent in the recording is Steve's bass, and you *could* argue that its mixed too loud, LOL.
Dont get me wrong, SoP is my favorite too, but that album also benefits from having one of the great mixing/engineering jobs in the history of thrash/death metal. Its rare to find a non-brickwalled mix in which you can hear all of the instruments well, and they sound phenomenal. Which makes the remaster of SoP kinda silly---it already sounded astonishingly good.
blppt I totally agree. Never thought about it much before but that mix really does suck doesn't it? Ugh
I'm a musican so I probably wouldn't have listened to symbolic and TSOP as much as I have if I wasn't learning the drums. Once I zoned in on those I blocked out the rest.. I think I may have to revisit ITP. I know the guitarist I was playing the death songs with was big on it..
the original Death Metal music... so good

@@sheldoncooper8199 of course bro
@joshrm nah, possessed were more of a transition between trash and death, whilst death's scream bloody gore was death metal personified
@joshrm obviously not one band will ever just invent a whole genre by themselves with 0 influence. But the fact remains that Death are originators.
As a 47 years old metalhead, I remember watching this back in the day on MTV. And it immediately blow my head, also being a bass player I was amazed by the unusual jazzy bass lines at a death metal song. Later on we also discovered Cynic, who were buddies of Chuck, and we also started exploring jazz/fusion stuff. Also let's not forget Atheist, something magical was happening at Florida back in the day...
Love Chuck's smile at the ending of the video. -He's missed BIG time

3:22 Chuck's smile a Gene's a little bit wondering face... the most badass thing in the universe.

LMAO...no shit ...back in the day at a death show if anyone in the audience would've over heard dudes talkin like that.....it would be curtains for them......i don't get how you could allow yourself to get sidetracked while listening to the music and watching the video and end up with your focus on his jeans , hair and smile.....i think they should probably put the pipe and the powder away for a while.
He called his smile badass not cute. I don't see how that's gay, calling a guy badass.
sticking up for a guy thats not arguing himself is kinda gay.....and a guy commenting on another dudes smile regardless of how it looks is just not ok with some people....accept that not everyone shares the same views as you and life goes on.
You must have taken Seth Putnam literally when he called everything gay. Arguing on the side of a guy that isn't arguing himself is now literally homosexual.
The outro is like metal jazz. The breakdown is super jazzy too. Mostly because of the fretless bass but the drum and guitar progressions are really out there as well. This is why most die hard death metal heads don't like Chuck's later work. I think it's great. Completely ahead of it's time and still way too intense for most people to ever understand.
Ah yes the song that started it all for me. The first death metal song I listened to and the moment I heard it I was hooked

DEATH is the definition of Death Metal
I agree, but only for Scream Bloody Gore & Leprosy.
DEATH is the defiition for perfection.
I mean
@@MetalSalvation You have to be a really good and creative band if you want to make good death metal. Otherwise bands fall into all of the clichés of the genre and make uninteresting music. Death was not one of those repetitive bands. I cannot imagine Chuck making that standard death metal of Scream Bloody Gore and Leprosy forever, that's a hard exercise of imagination. Well, Chuck and Death basically invented that sound, so it's ok, but a genius like Chuck would never repeat himself. He transcendended standard death metal in a very, very good way.
I don´t find them specially as a Death Metal band like Deicide or Morbid Angel, and you know why? I´m glad, they got me bored, Chuck not, I see him more closer to Thrash than Death really

Rest in Power, Master
I still remember first seeing this video back in the day on the old Headbangers Ball. I was in high school back then, and this song blew me away. The guitar harmonies of Chuck and Andy LaRocque were flawless, the riffs were absolutely crushing, the fretless bass of Steve Di Georgio was sick, and Gene Hoglan is always a beast. Additionally, I could easily understand every word Chuck screeched. This song, along with the videos for "Heartwork" by Carcass, "Wolverine Blues" by Entombed, and "Arise" and "Dead Embryonic Cells" by Sepultura were all my entry ramps into loving death metal later in the mid 90's.
One of my favorite songs . Salute all Death fans.

He was very forward-thinking in terms of songwriting. Never rehashed old ideas. Wish he lived longer.
I learned alot from Chuck’s Philosophy and the ways of metal music. RIP legend 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I can’t help but think that music, and the world would be a better place if Chuck were still with us. He would have been 55 today.
Happy birthday Chuck. We miss you deeply brother.
A belated birthday wish for Chuck, 48th Birthday on the 13th of May!!
A Metal God that we will always remember!\m/!
One of the few death tunes I can play. For some reason, I can't chug accurately while grunting like Chuck could. Lol! You do hear why he sang where he does though. certain pauses and shit. Loved this band as a teen... only better with age. Long live Chuck!!
Потрясно!
Они всегда молодые! и Чак, и Энди (Ральф), и Джин и Стив!
Великолепный клип!
Рифф - мощь
Один из самых ярких клипов металла!
Today 13/12/2021 - 20years - we will not forget Chuck
Rest in Peace Great Chuck! You are not forgotten! Russia remembers for you!
Been fan for 30yrs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn!! Chuck used to be so talented and brutal with those sick riff!!! I´ve never seen another guy like him full of energy and so charismatic. Chuck, You´ll be missed and your legacy will live forever!!
Death é atemporal,continua sendo minha banda preferida🤘🏽
Obrigado Lenda Chuck Schuldiner.
LOL, Death's own record company spelled the album's title wrong in the video description. Check it out! HAHA!
They also misspelled "perseverance" in the full album stream of The Sound of Perseverance.
The Sound of Perseverarance
The FIRST death metal band ever. I love this song too even though it wasnt that huge. RIP Chuck
Every day I find something new...thanx Chuck.
Chuck was a genius player, perfection in technical and melodic playing. Rip brother will soon listen to you live again......
Chuck and the whole band are so fucking underrated, its digusting. They got no respect for what they did during life but they'll RIP as rock n' roll legends.
Yeah. Death should be the most popular metal band, not gay ass stuff like Metallica (new Metallica, the old stuff is good) or Slipknot or A7X.
***** fuck off
they're the best known Death Metal band, what the fuck are you talking about?
Rolling stone
@@manuelaguilera3642 no they are not LMAO. barely anyone knows death, the most well known death metal band is cannibal corpse
