    Lyrics:
Memories are all that's left behind
As I lay and wait to die
    Little do they know
That I hear their choice of life
End it now, it is the only way
Too cruel, that is what they say
Release me from this lonely world
There is no hope - Why don't you
    Pull the plug
    Let me pass away
    Pull the plug
Don't want to live this way
Once I had full control of my life
I now behold a machine decides my fate
End it now it's all too late
What has now been days, it seems like years
To stay like this is what I fear
Life ends so fast, so take your chance
    And make it last
End it now, it is the only way
Too cruel, that is what they say
Release me from this lonely world
There is no hope - Why don't you
    Pull the plug
    Let me pass away
    Pull the plug
Don't want to live this way

I remember walking in to the local indie record store back in '89 and finding a cassette in the $1 bin called Leprosy by some band called Death. Bought it based entirely on the cover art, hoping it'd be in the same vein as Reign in Blood. Got home, and popped it in to the walkman, and had my mind blown.
One of the few death metal albums I still enjoy listening to.

+Noitek Hell, that's how we had to find new music back then. Take a chance on a cool cover, hope you or your friend discovered a cassette or saw a new video, something, anything! I knew Chuck personally. I got his home phone number, talked to him, and met in person in 1987 and met up with him again in 1989. I often think about the lyrics from this song and think to myself if he ever said any of these words as he was dying. What happened to him was one of the saddest things ever. I miss you, buddy. You were the best.

@@garywilson3042 I got his number from an acquaintance at a show in 1987. I called him about 4-5 times, and 2 more times after he relocated to San Francisco. After he came back to Altamonte Springs, I called him again and he told me that he already released the album and the first night of the Scream Bloody Tour was going to be in Miami Beach. I met him at the concert and helped load his gear. That year, I joined the first version of Cynic which was Paul, Sean, Russel Mofskey, and myself. I was kicked out of the group, because I couldn't afford equipment, but I was still friends with Cynic and at local band showcase, I gave Paul Chuck's phone number. He said he thought Chuck like to jam with Cynic. I told him I thought that their styles were too different, but boy was I wrong. In 1989, I played drums for Hellwitch, and we saw Death in Orlando, and we opened for them and Dark Angel in Melbourne. Some of the footage of me playing can be seen here:

I love the remaster version, sounds fantastic. I can understand people not liking it because they prefer originals, but it's only some minor tweaks for quality purposes, not like they re-arranged songs or re-wrote some parts. I ordered the 2CD and a shirt, can't wait to go for a drive and crank it up.

    • @Moonbear2002
      @Moonbear2002 6 років тому +18

empire, I absolutely agree with you on the remastered tracks being better, I have always preferred the remastered versions all of the metal I listen to. I have no clue how someone could possibly prefer the original mixing unless they were actually there experiencing its recording. As a guitarist, I value instrumental music in the form of metal above all other genres without any doubt, and I do agree that newer metal bands like Rings of Saturn can sound way too digital and fake at times. However remastering a song's mixing specifically for the purposes of enhancing the clarity of the instruments being played, such as in this case and eternally more examples within metal, is utterly preferable to listening to tracks mixed in the late 80's onward, which were tailored for the technical specifications of inferior hardware.

    lyrics.
Memories is all that's left behind
As I lay and wait to die
    Little do they know
That I hear their choise of life.
End it now, it is the only way
Too cruel, that is what they say
Release me from this lonely world
    There is no hope...
Why don't you - Pull the plug
    Let me pass away
    Pull the plug
Don't want to live this way.
Once I had full control of my life
I now behold a machine decides my fate
End it now it's all to late...
What has now been days, it seems like years
To stay like this is what I fear
Life ends so fast, so take your chance
    And make it last!
End it now, it is the only way
Too cruel, that is what they say
Release me from this lonely world
    There is no hope...
    Why don't you -
    Pull the plug
    Let me pass away
    Pull the plug
Don't want to live this way.

To those that can't tell the difference: it's one track. Wait for the remastered CD to come out. One big difference is pretty obvious that everything is much louder so you don't have to up the volume level to listen to it and there's more clarity to the instruments. For me at least, it's comparable to the Spiritual Healing remaster which was also done by Alan Douches who has been remastering all of the Death albums except Symbolic.

I remember in the early 90's I was singing in a metal band that played all original material. We played at the Roxy music hall on long Island often. After paying our dues playing on weekdays for a while the owner (frank) finally started giving us opening slots on weekends with signed bands. One Saturday night we played with death. I wasn't very familiar with their stuff (yet) and I remember sitting with the guitar player from the band I was in having a beer. I saw this kind of heavy set guy with a cane limping towards the stage. So I asked my friend "do you know who that guy is?" he said "yeah that's the drummer for death". Now I'm thinking to myself this guy is walking with a cane towards the stage and he's the drummer? Well shit I gotta see this! They played their set and I couldn't believe how good and fast the drummer was. After that I went out to get leprosy and was a fan thereafter. Goes to show you... Never judge a book by its cover. 🤘
