- 2 easy recipes for beginners that are WFPBNO basics is what I will be sharing with you today. These 2 recipes will show you that plant based eating does not have to be boring or complicated. Full recipes and all the links to what was discussed in this video are below.
FLATBREAD SALAD
FOR THE FLATBREAD
1 1/2 cups chickpea flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 T unsweetened applesauce
1 cup warm water.
Add everything to a bowl and mix until smooth.
Pour into a lined 9 x 12 baking sheet. spread evenly in pan and bake in a preheated 450 degree oven and bake for 18-20 minutes. Let cool on a cooling rack for 5 minutes .
PLANTIFUL KIKI'S RANCH DRESSING
1/2 cup canned white beans
1/2 cup plain unsweetened soy milk
1 1/2 T white vinegar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried parsley
pinch of dill
Place all ingredients except parsley and dill and blend in a small blender till smooth then stir in parley and dill. Set aside
FOR THE SALAD
2 cups chopped arugula
shredded carrots
chopped red onions
chopped cucumbers
chopped cherry tomatoes
chopped black olives
place all ingredients into a bowl except tomatoes and olives, add dressing and mix well
TO ASSEMBLE
Spread 3 T of the dressing over flatbread.
Spread the salad evenly over the flatbread and add the tomatoes and olives on top
ROASTED TOMATO SOUP PASTA
Cook 3/4 cup red lentil pasta to package directions
2 cups finely shredded lettuce like Romaine
*2 cups roasted tomato soup
1/4 cup nutritional yeast )optional)
When pasta is done drain well and add back into the hot pot. Warm the soup and add to pasta and add the lettuce and mix well. Turn the heat to low and stir well for a 2-3 minutes until lettuce wilts a bit. Add nutritional yeast and stir. turn heat off. Add to a bowl and add more sauce on top if desired.

I love that you didn't drench the salad in dressing and always say that we can adjust our amounts based on taste. As I build confidence in this lifestyle I am learning my likes and dislikes and to be more flexible. I've never liked salads and eventually realized they tasted better for me without too much dressing (slow learner😅). Now I try to eat them more frequently. Thanks for the awesome tips!!

Hey there! I’am new here with my journey on plant based! I was eating eggs everyday! Pizza! Burgers! I’m still eating some egg in my salad! ‘ chicken ! I love you’re recipes and how you explain them! I’m struggling still ordering in restaurants
Welcome to the best decision of your lift. Eventually you will give up eggs. That was the last thing I gave up. Make sure to check out the menu before you go. Call ahead and see what there plant based options are. Thai or Mexican food are good options. I really don't go out to eat that much. After awhile the food just doesn't taste as good with the oil and all the salt. And you end up feeling bloated and lethargic. I love to cook and eat what I make and feel great afterwards. It's a process. You'll get there.
Will definitely try both yummy recipes for my non vegan family. I will never give up! These look great

Yes, absolutely! It works great for a pizza crust.
If you used it for a pizza crust, how would you add the toppings? Would you add them after you bake the crust? How much longer would you bake it? Just found your channel. Like what you do.

Good afternoon from the U.K.😊! I love your recipes and the way you present them - makes my life easier.....I don't know if you can help me. In the U.K. there are no shops that sell rice milk -don't know why, it is my go to milk. Never found a soy milk I like, any ideas on a brand/make? from a nurse too....xxx
Have you tried finding it on line? Maybe if you could talk to the shop manager they could order it for you. Maybe a case at a time. I us Trader joes soy milk brand. I know you don't have Trader Joe's there so that won't work. Look for a brand that only has two ingredients, Like soybeans and water, or you could make your own. I have a video on how to make oat milk. I have never made rice milk before but I bet you could find lots of videos on You tube that would show you how. Best of luck.

I myself can guarantee that weight loss is not a guarentee on a wfpb (oil free, and controlled fat) diet. It can take more effort than that. When you have binge eating tendencies and can literally down pounds of food in a short period of time weight loss takes mental work and there is no substitute for that. I am still wfpb and made the switch at 13 years old. I still think its the healthiest diet just not necessarily a weight loss diet.
I agree if you tend to binge eat then there really isn't any diet that will help you lose weight. Working through those issues is important for any of us. Being in a calorie deficit is the only way you will lose weight. WFPBNO is low calorie density and is helpful in achieving that deficit. This way of eating is the only thing that helped me to lose the weight and keep it off. I have worked with many people and they have had great success. I am glad you are still plant based because as you said it is the healthiest diet. Best of luck to you.
What is your opinion on making the flatbread ahead and freezing for future meals?
Because it it gluten free it doesn't really freeze well. Sometimes it can fall apart when you reheat it.

Yes it will keep in the fridge for a few days.

I don't think so. I think it may crack. But honestly I have never tried. Next time I make it, I'll try it.
I have struggled what to put in my salad ! What about in restaurants?
I usually customize my salad. I look to see what veggies are on the menu as sides and then ask for them on my salad. For example you could ask for grilled veggies, along with the usual salad items, tomatoes, cucumber, onion, carrots, etc. Skip the croutons and bring your own dressing. Believe me nobody cares. I have never had any problems at restaurants.
What else can I substitute for the applesauce making the flatbread thanks
Mashed sweet potato or plain plant based yoghurt. Same amount 2 tablespoons.

How can you lose weight eating starch? I ve never been able to lose weight on anything but low carb! I eat more and gain! I got a plant based book, recipe book, started eating veggies and sweet potatoes. Eat more dense calories. Skip oil? Don't you need olive oil? I found out I'm hungry too all the time. I really want to do this as diabetic and being overweight. It's so confusing. Help!
The starch solution is a starch based diet. It is also based on low calorie density. If you haven't read the book I highly recommend you do. You do not need olive oil or any other kind of oil. Oil is a processed food that is the most calorie dense food on the planet. Also check out @masteringdiabetes on Instagram or You tube. You will get the information you need to go whole food plant based for your diabetes. You want to eat nutrient dense not calorie dense and yes you get to eat more. You should not be hungry with this way of eating.

If your salad dressing is "plant based" and "healthy", why not embellish the salad? Why skimp?
I wasn't skimping. I don't like a ton of dressing on my salad. That is just my personal preference. If you prefer more dressing then go for it.😀

EASY RECIPES - that flat bread looked a little like the beginnings of a pizza. So, only one side gets browned, and the top didn't. Hmmmm. Interesting.
I think its because of alternative flour. You can use wheat flour and shouldn't have this issue
For the flatbread I don't want the top brown. If you would like it brown then I would bake if for 15 minutes on one side, flip it and bake for another 10 or so. Just my personal preference. Hope that helps💚
It's not the flour. I didn't want the top brown, that's my personal preference. If you want both sides brown flip it halfway through the cooking process.
