SELF-CONFESSED food addict, Johnna, grew up in a "family that loves to eat" and developed unhealthy bingeing habits from an early age. As this carried through into adulthood, she saw her weight rise to 357lbs at her heaviest. When she visited one of her favourite restaurants and the chair collapsed under her weight, the moment was "so embarrassing" that she decided to make a change. Johnna consulted a weight loss surgeon, who booked her in for gastric sleeve surgery and soon she was on the road to better health. But when Johnna unexpectedly fell pregnant just 18 months after her surgery (doctors recommend waiting at least two years) she had "every complication known to man" and her son was born 13 weeks premature with a "survival rate of 57%". Fortunately, Johnna is now mum to a happy, healthy 2-year-old and since her ordeal she has put in place healthy living routines that have enabled her to lose an incredible 210lbs in total. But perhaps the greatest success for Johnna is that her transformation has enabled her to fully appreciate and enjoy motherhood: "Being a mum is the best thing ever, he's the best thing ever and my life is great right now."

I absolutely love this. I've had women come to me for weight loss with the goal of being able to healthily become pregnant. When you have a higher drive and reason WHY this stuff matters, it unlocks the key for so many to be able to finally do what they need to get the weight off and get it off FOREVER.
This is the kind of body positivity we need to see. Obesity is headed towards 57-60% of the US population by 2030 folks.

So important to make clear weightloss surgery is not cheating at all. That so much discipline has to follow, so many complications and risks can come with it. I'm losing weight with calorie counting and would be too scared for a surgery like this. Really happy for her improved life, she looks so happy!! 💜

She's very lucky her & her baby made it. That's why they tell you not to get pregnant after gastric surgery. You're not fully healed to support the fetus. Amongst other things. I'll never understand people who don't take risks seriously. Then cry when problems arise.

As a european person that didn’t have any money growing up it saddens me to hear that in America people have to buy mc Donald’s and it’s not like back home where my mum used to cook very healthy meals with meat and veggies that were cheap and accessible. I don’t get the American way of eating to be honest…
People don’t have to buy McDonald’s. It’s an option amongst other option. For example, one could buy fruits and vegetables for about the same amount of money as one would spend on the value menu for 3 people.
In my area, it is cheaper to get McDonald's. I spend around $175 for a day's worth of meals for my family of 4. $175/DAY!! Multiply that by 30. Ground beef is $10/lb. Thats crazy to me. I don't think our farmers are paid enough. Because fruits & vegetables are expensive too.
Exactly. Me too grew up in a traditional family & my mom would let me buy a pizza maybe once a week or more. When I started working myself and moved out to study in another city I started the junk food & processed carbs like chocolates and sodas
and I gained 10+ kilos😢 after almost a year I started to prepare healthy meals myself as my mom does
@@ells80That depends on the area. Many poor people in the US live in food deserts - areas with no or perhaps one grocery store that is hard to get to without a vehicle. These areas also tend to have expensive and/or poor quality healthy foods like meats, vegetables and fruits.
Healthy food isn’t always accessible nor affordable for many. That’s an uncomfortable truth.

I never thought weight loss surgery was the easy way out. It just has health consequences that are not good. But being obese might be much worse than cutting up the stomach. It’s an option that for some is life saving. For those that do it I think they are making a huge sacrifice and risk for their health. That is brave. I hope most people will not need this surgery, but for those that do I hope it works like it did here.

Im a 17 year old girl also overweight at 5 ft but my mom keeps telling me to eat and that I'm still growing I want to go on a water diet to shed the extra pounds, and the saddest is that she calls me fat but she stills wants me to eat if I'm gonna be in her household. I don't what do please, anybody who can recommend me anything would be lovely
Please try to get out and walk get some easy to do exercises on UA-cam and burn off the calories your eating you can eat but in moderation and if you exercise it will. Make all the difference I get it can be embarrassing to go to. The gym so finding exercises on here to do in your room and build that up to twice a week to three times a week and so on, you can do it your mum calling you Fat is cruel she shouldn’t be doing that, but remember she’s not helping you to be healthy or make the right choices,but once you start to look after your health and fitness you will feel better
Reduce your food and exercise
You need to cut your portions and also exercise. If you don’t and only do the water diet you’ll actually gain weight the water will be retained and you’ll end up bloated
My aunt did this to me for 6 years. The solution in your living at home with her as you are a minor I recommend the following: 1. Fast when she is not around 2. Drink plenty of water to help your metabolism 3. If she plates your food, try to influence her to plate more veggies 4. If you plate yourself fill it with veggies and protein (less rice!) 5. If she sends you with food to school/college/uni don't eat it. Either store it somewhere or throw it away. Better to throw away food than throw away your health. My aunt had me at 82kg at age 15, I am only 159cm....which is around your height 5'2
Try to eat the 'right' foods. Avoid processed stuff that will make you gain weight because it has no vitamins or minerals and empty calories. An easy way to do this is check the back of the ingredients if it has nore than one ingredient you can do without it. Mushrooms potatoes. Meat. Celery. Fruit. Yogurt. All this stuff is good for you (1 ingredient) AND WHAT YOUR BODY IS DESIGNED TO RUN ON! BEST OF LUCK!

I used to feel the same way and I lost 70lbs naturally. It really is very mentally challenging. Takes a lot of perseverance, tears, saying “no”, and consistency.

The weight loss surgery is the easy way out.. If you don't think so. Then you need to try to doing the right way to see. All of the hard work it takes. The disciplining of your diet to pushing yourself in the gym with cardio and lifting weights. That is alot harder than being put to sleep on a table and having someone shrink your stomach to make you eat less and remove fat..
How can you fall pregnant unexpectedly if you’re having sex without protection and have no medical diagnosis that says you can’t get pregnant?

This is why I don't like this whole Fat Acceptance "movement". What I'm mainly trying to convey is that you can be healthy at any size. No you cant. Every story of people who lost weight starts with how much they suffered, how they didn't feel like they were living life to the fullest and that they had no control over their lives. I don't mean that if you are overweight you have to hate yourself and not accept yourself, I just want you not to tell yourself that being overweight is healthy. This Fat Acceptance movement should start taking some responsibility for saying that being overweight is healthy.

I’m not saying that getting weight loss surgery and maintaining it isn’t hard work, but I would be more inspired to see more stories of people who lost a ton of weight naturally instead of having a portion of their stomach cut out.

The baby is in Oregon with his dad. She doesn’t have custody of the baby because she wouldn’t get sober. She doesn’t have any recent photos of the baby she only posts old ones.
She doesn’t have custody of ayden. All her photos of him are old. The dad has full custody because she’s an alcoholic and the courts determined she’s a dangerous to her son.

I was going to get bariatric surgery in 2010 but I backed up 3 times and was already in the process of getting my surgery done I wasn’t obese that’s why I backed up on my surgery day i was really young and I was this close to getting into the process I did the process of bariatric surgery like 3 times I even did the classes, the testing and etc, but till this day my dr still offers me bariatric surgery and weight loss injections ‘ I did my research about bariatric surgery, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass for many years now 😌
