    I am ready to change, I have been obese for about 8 years and morbidly obese for a year. I’m 246lbs now at 20 and for being 5’4 I should be at most 140lbs. 3 days ago I started my journey and a year from now I will come back to this comment for an update.
    🎉1 YEAR UPDATE🎉: I’ve lost 71lbs and have 30lbs left to get to a goal weight of 145lbs. Thank you to everyone that shared their goals and words of encouragement!❤️

    Don't tell your kids they need to lose weight, you can help make them more active and eat better without telling them something is wrong with how they look. The things you say to your kids will stick with them forever.

      I agree. Trust and believe ….it’s not like we don’t already know we have to lose weight in the first place. It’s just that it’s one thing to hear it from a-holes in the general public, but it hurts a lot more, when it’s coming from the people who are supposed to love you more than anything regardless of how you look.

    What a reminder to all of us to try our best to avoid weight gain in the first place, because it is such a challenge to take the weight off. I'm so proud of these folks---so rare what they have accomplished---keep going--it's a daily journey :). Hard to believe, but NPR radio noted that 110 million USA residents (a bit less than 1/3 of our total population) are significantly overweight. For all the skinny folks you see on TV, in the movies, promoted on dating apps, the vast majority of us here are simply badly overweight.

    • @nataliejones2636
      @nataliejones2636 Рік тому +1

      The vast majority is overweight? But you also said it’s a bit less than one third. I’m confused by that but it does seem like most are at least somewhat overweight. What is the statistic for adults? I think there is something more to why so many people are obese but I’m not sure what it is exactly.

      @@nataliejones2636 I am 63+ years old and have been morbidly obese 35 of those years and Diabetic for 20+ years. It wasn't until the last year and a half that I started using my glucometer to tell me how my blood sugars reacted to the foods I was eating. As it turns out everything that the Standard American Diet taught me was totally wrong for my body. Pasta's, rice, potatoes, breads even if they were whole grains, and most fruits were horrible for my blood sugars and made my diabetes worse. I had taken a DNA test 9 years ago and is specifically said my body needed meats and healthy fats and didn't process carbs very well but for decades of being an adult had been drilled in me to eat lean meat whole foods and grains and only seed oils. It wasn't until I started eating meat including fatty meats bacon sausage chicken with skin on and using butter olive oil and avocado oils and coconut oils along with high fiber low glycemic vegetables that My blood sugars and A1C all improved and started getting toward the normal zones and then the weight started coming off of Me. I have been under the watchful eye of my doctors and they actually have been reducing my diabetic medications. I have three grandchildren now and I can actually get on the floor play with them and then get up off the floor. Each person needs to find out what the PHD for them is that is the "Proper Human Diet". You can Google the Proper Human Diet by Dr Ken Berry to get more information if you'd like. I learned how to use my glucometer to find out my body's responses to my food by listening to Dennis Pollock from the "Beat Diabetes" UA-cam videos. He has controlled his diabetes for about 22 years now. People's health started decreasing after they started heavily processing foods and genetically modifying them as well. I've currently lost about 120 lb and I need to lose another 100+ for Optimum Health Do yourself a favor and use food as fuel not as comfort and nurturing as I had for more than 40-50 years. We can't change your past but we can improve our future.

      @@pearlberry---PearlyGates I’ll check that out, although I am not overweight. Have you heard of eating based on blood type and if so what do you think of it? Also, have you found bacon that doesn’t contain sugar or chemical preservatives. Thanks for your reply and congratulations.

    • @pearlberry---PearlyGates
      @pearlberry---PearlyGates Рік тому +1

      @@nataliejones2636 I have briefly heard about diet according to blood type but I haven't researched it to know what it's talking about. All I know is 9 years ago I had a DNA test I'm o negative and my and diabetic and my test showed I did not process carbs well now there is a man that also was o-negative and diabetic but his DNA test showed that he needed to be a fat trimmer and he was able to utilize carbs so I would imagine it's a combination of a lot of factors. Now your question about bacon sometimes I have actually gotten pork belly and I've had it cut in slices like you would bacon and that pork belly was not treated with any thing no sugars salts no additives no nothing no nitrates or anything else if I do get regular kinds of bacon I just look for the ones with the least amount of additives and the least carbs and I just take it from there. There are so many different variables like type 2 diabetes someone could be insulin resistant while another might not be insulin resistant You just got to take in all the information get the facts and like I said one thing that helped me the most was when Dennis Pollock said use your glucometer religiously to track and graph your blood sugars response to anything and everything that goes into your mouth and study that data to know what you should do. For me it was the pasta rice potatoes and normal breads as well as many fruits so when I do have for example fruit I'll save it for the last one or two bites of my meal and limit it to that. I personally feel like I wasted too many years of my life because I didn't know how to discover my body's response to the foods and I did not always overeat. I went through every imaginable diet program for months and years at a time... I really feel like people need to have some kind of DNA test to find out how their body responds to the different variables in nutrition with their body. Technology has come a long way but we need to know how to use the technology correctly rather than relying on someone to tell us do this don't do that because those who are telling us this and that and the other haven't even tested our bodies response to everything that's put in it We are individuals We may have similar responses or totally opposite responses We just need to find out what they are and work them to benefit our health. When I was younger and working too often you had restricted time to even eat your meal during the work day so where you had to rush and that's never good and then of course raising my children as a mom I put them first and oftentimes your meals get rushed or broken up because of all the distractions with everybody's needs who are around you. It's only been the last year and a half or two of my life that I've been able to relax, take time to eat at a slow pace and focus on myself without the other distractions.

    5'8 male here. At my heaviest I was up to 206 pounds. 2.5 months later I'm down to 194 (might not sound like a lot but it's something to me) and that's before I actually made a complete change in diet. Only about 3 weeks ago did I clear out my cupboards and fridge of junk, gave up soda completely, chocolate and cut pretty much all refined sugar in general and only more recently took up walking, hiking and jogging and I can already feel a difference both physically and mentally. Finding out about the BMI score and me being technically obese for my height and weight really made me give my head a shake. I'm hoping by the end of summer I can be down to 160-155

      Dude, I’m you in female form! Lol
      I too am 5’8”, at my heaviest 206.
      I began about 6 weeks ago cutting out sugars, junk foods, increasing by protein and of course staying in a calorie deficit.
      I’m down to 192!!
      I too would like to be 160lbs by mid summer too.
      It doesn’t seem like much weight to lose for many who are struggling to lose 100+ or more but I think the struggle is still the same and that it’s a mindset one must live by.
      I can’t tell you how many times I’ve struggled to KEEP this mindset and have went back to my old habits.
      What I’ve done this time is increase my knowledge! I’m 62, keeping muscle mass is huge, I’ve learned that if I strive to get at least 30 -45gr of protein in each meal it keeps me full longer and the protein doesn’t get stored as fat like carbs do.
      Protein and calorie deficit is KEY for me!
      The best of luck to you! Keep keeping on!

Unless, of course, you were out working and buying your own food when wearing your 'birthday bikini'. I didn't think so! I will be starting my weight loss journey soon. I lost some kgs during lockdown in 2020 and felt amazing, but things changed and I gained even more. 2022 was a rough year for me, I got diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis and couldn't walk for 6 months. But, thanks to good medical treatment, the pain and inflammation have gone down. The downside is I gained a ton of weight and now I'm back to 78 kgs. My goal is to lose 20 kgs cuz I'm short. These videos you made are awesome, they gave me the confidence I needed! Here's to hoping for the best .

      Why you should use the Alpilean Weight Loss Supplement?
      The actual cause of Alpilean's enormous popularity and success is the method of action it employs. It is intended to assist the body repair the underlying problems, recovering more quickly, and getting back to a healthy weight management path rather than forcing it into something artificial.
      The multi-dimensional strategy it uses has a special component, too-low core body temperature.

I gained weight during quarantine and had to have heart valve replacement surgery while trying to lose some, so I couldn't do anything challenging physical during the recovery period. Now 4 months have passed and I can start running again. Btw, I weigh 65kg and I'm only 163cm tall 😫

    I'm 5'9" and weighed 350lbs at my heaviest. I am 314lbs now and still going. I can not get bariatric surgery since I have a condition that already causes my stomach to have a hard time absorbing nutrients. The condition also causes pain in all of my joints which the weight does not help with. The only thing the weight helps with is mobilizing my joints so I do not dislocate them. This means while I lose weight I have to make sure I maintain and gain muscle. It's so frustrating, but seeing these stories gives me hope even if I can't get the surgery. I want to be able to run and jump which is not possible with my condition unless I get intense physical therapy, but getting rid of the weight will make my journey to being able to run possible.

    I've been lifting weights and doing 20/4 intermittent fasting since and lost a lot of fat but can also see Ive put a load of muscle on too.

On a side note, I started my weight loss journey at 5'10" and 237lbs. I ran everyday on the treadmill for one hour, (for 3yrs) lifted weights and drank water A LOT!! I am now a lean 170lbs at age 60. I understand her reluctancy to not blame her parents for the weight standards they placed on their child, but at the end of the day let this be a learning lesson to parents who, instead of creating positive body issues for their children, unfortunately only think about themselves and how their children will be viewed by the public and other family members. I also was forced on weight watchers and other diet foods when I was at a reasonable weight that could have been cured with more exercise.
