It brings me so much joy to see someone hear Iron Maiden for the first time. They bring so much energy and passion through in their music. I'd love to see you react to some of their more theatrical performances. I've only seen them once, it was in Melbourne about 10 years ago and it was breathtaking!

The lead singer Bruce Dickinson is an airline pilot. He flew their plane everywhere on their world tour. Can you imagine how cool it would be if you got a plane and the he came over the speakers announcing " hello ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain Bruce Dickinson". I would have to shake his hand.

Yep. As some have analyzed it, the lyrics and music go on his journey of dread, fear, then on to acceptance by the end. It's quite brilliant, all of it, their epic to me.
Mark my words, believe my soul lives on
Don't worry now that I have gone
I've gone beyond to seek the truth.
When you know that your time is close at hand
Maybe then you'll begin to understand
Life down here is just a strange illusion.

@@michaelmay5453 I know and he is unique, but as a fair comparison. Technical he is simply not that good, his voice alone the quality is just a different taste, has nothing to do with skill. He doesnt use heavily echo and delay on his voice on all his albums for no reason. Its nothing bad, he is almost selftaught and never learned proper form. I simply cant ignore the 100 other great Singers we have in that genre at that time. SUCH a perfect introduction to your Iron Maiden journey -- it's their very best song of all time to me. The music, the lyrics, the performance, it's an epic from start to finish. You'd be hard pressed to find a bad song on this entire album ("Number of the Beast" and "Prisoner" also top picks -- and you'll simply LoVe the drum intro on "Prisoner", believe me). This is one of those 2-guitar bands where they are Both rhythm And lead, and frequently harmonize with each other in parts of the songs (as with this one). I know I keep saying this, but...they're another metal band which filled stadiums in the 80s with hardly any radio play. The band Machine Head does the very best cover of this epic, their singer does it amazing justice.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Nightingales & Bombers - As Above So Below (1975)
"The title of this album was inspired by a recording made in Surrey, England during the Second World War, by an ornithologist intending to record Nightingales. The bombers flew over at the same time and were recorded by accident. The recording has been incorporated in 'As Above, So Below'". - Manfred Mann 1975[3] (In fact, the recording was made on May 1942 by a BBC sound engineer for the BBC. Intending to capture the nightingale's song he also, by accident, recorded the sound of RAF bombers on their way to attack Mannheim, Germany.)

Glad to see someone experience Iron Maiden for the first time. Hallowed Be Thy Name is probably the most well known of their songs. It's about a man that is sentence to death and all the emotions that he is going through before he is put to death. I've been listening to Iron Maiden since 1982, at the age of 15. Probably the biggest heavy metal band from Britain, along with Judas Priest.
    Iron Maiden is:
Bruce Dickinson - Vocals Born: August 7, 1958 (age 63 years) Started with Iron
Steve Harris- Bassist and Founder Born: March 12, 1956 (age 65 years), Started
    Dave Murray - Guitarist Born: December 23, 1956 (age 65 years), 1976-1977, 1978-present
    Adrian Smith- Guitarist Born: February 27, 1957 (age 64 years), 1980-1990, 1999-present
    Nicko McBrain - Drums Born: June 5, 1952 (age 69 years), 1982 - present
Iron Maiden just put out their 17th studio album last year. If you like story telling great prominent bass line, great drumming and guitar solos you will love Iron Maiden.
Next one I'd recommend doing is Fear of the Dark (Live ua-cam.com/video/6PDMtqejNfs/v-deo.html)
After that this is my recommendation list. -
Murders in the Rue Morgue (named after a short story by Edgar Allan Poe) had first singer Paul DiAnno
Rime of the Ancient Mariner - (From the poem of the same name by Samuel TaylorColeridge(story about about an ocean voyage) Epic 13+ min song
The Prisoner (based on the UK television series that ran briefly in the late 1960’s)
Run to the Hills (about the European arrival in America told from the perspective of both the oppressed Cree and the invading white soldiers)
Aces High (about aircraft dog fighting between the British and German fighter pilots of WWII) ***You've done this one
Powerslave (about an arrogant pharaoh in his dying hours, he can't understand why he's about to die and fights it in vain)
Where Eagles Dare (based on an Alistair Maclean novel, (1967), and film (1968) about a WWII rescue of an American general from a Nazi stronghold in the Bavarian Alps
Revelations (The work of Aleister Crowley influenced the writing of this song, starts out with a Hymnal Oh God of Earth and Alter)
Flight of Icarus (loosely based on the ancient Greek myth of Icarus)
To Tame a Land (the song relays the story of Paul Atreides, Paul Muad'Dib, from the book Dune by Frank Herbert)
The Evil that Men Do (Title from William Shakespeare's Julius Caeser, but song is unrelated)
The Clairvoyant (relates the reflections of the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son on his life and his powers)
Ghost of the Navigator (The lyrics are a metaphor of life, with the ship sailing west towards the setting sun representing death)
Brave New World (Loosely based on the 1932 novel by Aldous Huxley)
No More Lies (About someone who knows that his time has come with the darkening sky's representing the beginning of the end
Dance of Death (Story takes place in the deep south of the U.S. where Voodoo is taking place) (Do live Death on the Road)
Brighter than a Thousand Suns (About the dawn of the nuclear bomb age)
The Longest Day (about the WWII Normandy Invasion)
That should give you plenty of material for Iron Maiden Up the Irons!

You have got a lot of good song tips already - so I don't need to give you more for now :-) Just another advice - next time you listen to Iron Maiden, pay extra attention to bassist Steve Harris. His lightning-fast galloping finger style bass rhythms are absolutely unbelievable - he was a true pioneer of his time, have influnced so many bass players, and to make it even more interesting, he formed the band and is their leader since day one and has written most of their songs, including "Hallowed be thy name". The lyrics to this song is about a man waiting to be executed - Steve Harris also writes the most interesting, fascinating lyrics on so many different themes.

Hello Young Lady! Looking beautiful as always. In a recent reaction you said you really liked music from the 60's. I have a request for you, the song is called
"OUR DAY WILL COME" by RUBY AND THE ROMANTICS. The lady singing is Ruby Nash, she was still performing into her 80's. I would appreciate this more than you know! Love Ya!

Wow it’s been along time since I heard this wasn’t a huge Iron Maiden fan I’m more into Lenard skynard, blues, Pink Floyd, this is loud but they did have some awesome energy! Love beautiful woman talking music!
