  • Iron Maiden is considered one of the founders of heavy metal music - so it's past time that we heard their music (and Bruce Dickinson) for the VERY FIRST TIME!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Iron Maiden for the first time, performing "Hallowed Be Thy Name."

@@frking100 Music industry loves them because they make money out of their touring, but radio hates them, can't have Mrs Smith from a village in the Cotswolds choking on her iced bun if Iron Maiden suddenly appeared on Radio 2. Even Planet Rock doesn't play them enough, but they're still happy to play country rock ten times a day. Absolute legendary band who should all have Knighthoods (most are Brits).

Almost 40 years ago I was about 4-5 rows from the front in the 'no room for toothpicks' section, just moving with the crowd as you have no choice......they just finished a tune and I watched this drumstick come towards me in slo-mo. Ten hands went up and it fell down at my feet. I dropped to my knees shoving others away and ended up victorious!.......................................only for my mother to toss it in the garbage about 4 years later. Yeah. That was one of the things that figured into my non-relationship with her but that's another story no one asked for.

Sure, he cuts out a 1-2 of the screams (Children of the Damned) per show, but other than that he can still sing songs they did 30 years ago without having to slow them down or have electronic help. He is still better than 95% of the vocalists out there.

He may not be the same belter he was in his youth, but I'd say he's actually a *better* singer now. He adds so much nuance to an already absolutely shredding song and takes advantage of his incredible range in the lows as well. Like his "strange illusion" in this is on another level. The dude stays in shape, trains his vocals, and has honed his craft. Mad respect.

The truly amazing thing about Bruce's power, range and enthusiasm in this live video is that they did this as the finale to a whole headlining set - which means he's _already been singing for _*_a whole set_* before he gets to this point. I honestly believe that the reason for those long guitar solos in the middle is so he has time to stick his head in an oxygen tent backstage, plug into an intravenous drip of Red Bull and switch out a couple of spare lungs and a new set of vocal cords before going back out.

Bruce is quite the renaissance man; he is a pilot who flies 737's, 757's and 747's. He also has a couple of other planes, including a German Fokker Dr1 Triplane. He is a world class fencer, winning many competitions, and early on, scheduling tour dates around competitions. He owns Cardiff Aviation, a heavy maintenance facility in England. He is an author, writing many books, and he also is a radio and TV personality. He did acting in school as a kid, and that lends a lot into this stage show. He also helped create Trooper beer.
And when he has some free time, he is the lead singer for one of the greatest metal bands ever.

One of the things I really like about your reaction videos is that I feel like as a person that's been in this genre for so long, I feel like I've become really jaded. I see this and think "yeah, that's just Iron Maiden." This is the kind of musicianship and performance that I expect out of a good metal band. I need to be reminded that this is NOT normal, that Bruce's vocals are NOT average, that their energy level on stage is NOT expected, that their musical talent is NOT mundane. This genre is so hard to survive in that it's easy to become accustomed to this level of playing being the norm.

Lesson kids: Be careful what vocal melodies you write for yourself when you're age 20.
May still need to sing it when you're 3 times that age.

I once saw an interview with older Billy Joel who said he hated Young Billy Joel.

@@ZeroDarknezz trust me, they will. Iron maiden, and some other bands sounded still great and they were like 60s 70s y/o. The warning is the future of rock by far. 3 sisters multitalented, and one of best playing live lmaoooo

Part of the thrill of Iron Maiden is seeing them live. I can't wait to see them again in October. There is a connection between the band and the audience. The energy ebb and flows from one to the other and builds through the concert. You see this type of connection with some of the biggest bands: Iron Maiden, Dio (RIP), Ozzy, Judas Priest, Rush, Ghost and many more. These bands really appreciate their fans and putting on a show for them, one that goes beyond their albums.
