Thanks for the detailed video.....I just purchased some Beckett electrodes and they along with the old set have what looks like a butt connector to attach the length electrodes ends to match the others. The instructions don't say to crimp them or anything

I am not sure exactly what you are referring too. I know the electrodes come in many different designs. Most of the ones I run into, I cut to length or screw them together and then cut off excess. Some I am able to get the exact lengths. I know there is one type that I have come across that pushes together. I am sorry my reply is not much help!

@furnacetech2581 no apology necessary. I appreciate any advice. These electrodes have two lengths of rods that have a metal "coupler" that does push on but its very loose. I figure you're supposed to crimp them to make tighter? The old & new set both have the same "coupler". If this helps any, let me know your thoughts. Thanks

I use either beckett s t501 or z gauge when adjusting keep in mind if you buy a new set of electrodes from beckett they come with the t501 gauge also you can tell whether it's a F or M head just by how the retention heads mounted beckett F heads are mounted on the end of the blast tube where the beckett M heads mount on to the nozzle assembly

How often do you need to replace electrodes? Every few years?
Seems like it’s a good idea to keep a backup in case

Hi. Do you have a video showing nozzle depth for an L1 head?

Why didn't you use Becketts supplied tool gauge? Is yours better?

Nice video! THANKS. I have a Beckett Electrode Kit SKU 5780 which states that it is for a Beckett AFG, AF, SR, SF burners. However, when I compare the electrodes to the existing ones, the porcelain insulator body of the new one is about an inch shorter than the existing one. However, the metal rods extension makes it the same overall length. My question: Is there a problem with replacing electrodes that have a shorter porcelain body than the existing electrodes? Is it possible that the Beckett Electrode Kit SKU 5780 is a universal kit so it comes in a slightly different size. The amazon link you provided goes to BECKETT 5781 Electrode KIT for USE with SF and AR Burner

The porcelain being shorter should not be an issue as long as the metal rods are the same length to touch the ignition transformer

@@furnacetech2581why did you remove the fuel pump and motor?

Most electrodes I see are pointed on the ends. Mine are not; the ends are sort of blunt. Think it makes any difference in the spark? I can always file mine to a point plus I have a new set that are pointed.

It could affect the spark because of the positioning and the clearance between the nozzle and the burner head. You can try to file them down a bit but it may not be worth the effort. When they wear down I simply replace them.
Great Question! Hope my answer helps and thank you for watching our videos!

How do you go about cutting the bars to size that come with the electrodes? Probably a stupid question
