Thanks for providing this to help others like myself!
First time home owner here. Thank you from Maryland!
I was so intimidated about changing the nozzle in my furnace, but you made it so easy. A million thanks.
This instructional video gives viewers the information and assurance to carry out this procedure on their own, whether they are professional HVAC experts or homeowners with basic maintenance abilities.great!
Good thorough explanation. Now I am not afraid to tackle this job. Wish I had seen this video a long time ago
Me too definitely built my confidence. F$ the boiler guy. They are sometimes a RIP anyway
Thanks! You're helping me do my own burner cleanup, since it's tripping the reset twice now, which makes me realize I may have to replace the nozzle and clean it up.
Just what I needed. Thank you
very helpful. TY
I'm now confident I can change the nozzle myself. Will look in to getting that Beckett T501 tool for better accuracy if I have to reset or change the electrodes.
Cheers
Me too I am buying one also
Great job keep them coming!
Also clean or replace that filter in the fuel pump. Is easy and cheap insurance.
Is it a must to check with that metal ruler looking thing
Great job
Could you use carburetor cleaner to clean the plate like that, and the other areas? I think I’ve seen guys use that for this application.
Can the SF Beckett model be installed vertically downwards?; I mean, the flame vertical down. Or only horizontal...
Hi, i am like you do things like that and service my Furnace, now for long time, i see that you need to adjust your air , your burner not getting enough air, also if you just changing the nozzle , you do not need to bleed at all, but if you change oil filter, or oil pump filter maybe, or remove any oil line, anyway thanks for the video.
Good video. Very clear, and well presented. I would recommend that you throw in a disclaimer at the end, on the importance of bleeding. Thanks for posting. I wish this were the answer to mine tripping out. (it's not)
Thank you, yes very true about the bleeding disclaimer - I wish I thought of that before posting! I have a Tiger Loop on mine so I don't need to bleed...
@@idothings6605 You can still edit your post by the 3 dots to the right of your video.
Would you really need to bleed, in this circumstance, considering that you’re not really doing anything that would add any air into the lines, no?
@@kellyseager8163 Whenever you open the line to the nozzle, you're draining oil, and admitting air. The air bubble could trip the controller on restart, depending on time set.
@@joequillun7790 mine seems to go about 15 or 20 seconds without fuel before it shuts off.
The oil in mine travels fairly quickly also, so I will cross my fingers that it’s only gonna sputter for a moment if any air gets in right there by the nozzle.
Did it run properly after turning the power back on to the burner and starting it?
It did! I have a tiger loop on mine so I didn’t need to bleed the air out. If you don’t, you’ll need to bleed the air out of the line before starting it. There should be a video on UA-cam on how to bleed your air out.
Thanks for watching!
@@idothings6605 Do you have a number I can reach you at? I have a couple of questions about my Utica boiler. Ty, Jay.
A few little things missed minor details, always back wash where your nozzle is seated and never use the open end of the wrench to tighten the new nozzle, you will round the head very easily
The silver piece comes off , letting you clean more efficiently
You should check down that blast tube for carbon build up on the head
How come you didn’t change the oil filter?
I did, I just put that as a separate video :). Thanks for watching!
Mines start then chip out
Did it do this before you replaced the nozzle?
@@idothings6605 me an my dad just open it an clean everything we can it runs then cut off 😪 I wish I had your number Bc it’s cold in New Jersey an I have my kid here in the house 🏡 we going to get a new nozzle to see if that’s the problem
@@1stockrt902 I feel for ya. Mines been doing it randomly for a couple years now. I've tried filters and cleaning, replaced cad cell, "and" controller. Multiple adjustments, and next on my list is replace the electrodes, and transformer. The electrodes are cheap, and the transformer is 40 yrs old, so I don't mind spending the $ to replace. Good luck with yours. It's been a long cold January here in Southern New England too.
@@joequillun7790 thank u 🙏🏿
There is no need to shut the oil off
You shouldn’t touch the new nozzle strainer with your fingers ,you can force impurities into the strainer .and into the nozzle. You also shouldn’t touch the nozzle orifice with your fingers, you didn’t check the end cone when you had the assembly out, and any time a nozzle is replaced a full co2 test must be preformed. Oil burner fires can’t be eyeballed!
Oh and you don’t have to shut the oil off to remove the the nozzle assembly
Homeowners trying to teach homeowners how to work on oil burning equipment. There's so much more the servicing a burner then you would just presented. Good luck people but they make oil burner technicians for a reason. 40 years in thank you
Where’s your video explaining how to do this?
never touch the nozzle screen. This video is ok for the mechanically inclined. But a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Call a professional
I call professionals all the time but I also do other tune ups myself
I would not change your own nozzle unless you have a oil burners license there’s more to it then that if you mess with the gaping, depth or air flow you can cause serious issues and possibly burn your house down and your insurance will not cover it and fire department will fine you. Leave this stuff to the professionals please.
Crying😢...lol
All lies....I have been doing my own boiler for YEARS exactly like this guy has been doing it and so have my other friends and they NEVER BURNED THEIR HOUSES DOWN. 😅
SORRY IF THIS VIDEO IS TAKING AWAY FROM YOUR PRECIOUS $$$ dollar signs...
Let's stop keeping the common home owner in the dark about saving money. Beside since when did the oil burner guys ever care about doing us a favor? You guys charge $175.00 initial without even doing any work to the boiler until you find something. NO THANKS
@@HandsONreviews4udo you also spray cleaner inside of the oil line 😂
@@frostedpumpkin3910
Did I say I do that? Sorry if UA-cam is killing the raping homeowners business but those days are numbered
@@HandsONreviews4u that’s literally what the guy in this video did. Can’t hate on someone for recommending an actual qualified person do it, properly and safely.

I can totally agree with a professional even to fix my car, BUT THERE ARE DEFINITELY FIXES A HOMEOWNER CAN DO BY LEARNING AND UNDERSTANDING HOW THINGS WORK. FOR EXAMPLE I SWITCHED OUT MY BOILER RELAY SWITCH FOR A BRAND NEW ☝️ ONE AND CONNECTING JUST 3 wires to do that saved me over $200.00 bucks for calling THE PROFESSIONAL. $175.00 bucks for just a tech to show up then parts and labor. I not only learned something but it also broke my fears. So I would suggest to anyone on here learn about your boiler heck even learn how to do a TUNE AND VAC
