Gary looks like he was having so much fun at this concert. He spent his whole career being hard on himself, striving for a perfection he could never achieve, because he didn't realize that to all of us he was already light years beyond perfect. Hopefully in these later years he realized that and got to enjoy what he did.
second solo on cowboy song has to be one of the most life affirming, fist clenching leads of all time. It never fails to raise goosebumps on me when I hear it.
Gary may not have had the recognition around the world but he was one of the most brilliant guitar players to have stood on a stage, I was lucky enough to see him play live a number of times in the 70's and 80's as well as seeing Lizzy amongst many other bands at that time, RIP Gary and Phil.
That haunting intro gives me chills. His chord inversions somewhat modernizes the song. It proves Gary’s mastery of the guitar and demonstrates his knowledge of harmony and phrasing. Truly a musical force, no doubt one of the very best.
† February 06 2012 † Exactly one year ago we were losing Gary sir here, one of the greatests. Let's mark this day with a big load of thumbs up for Gary and Thin Lizzy, people!
I was blessed to see Thin Lizzy live in the late 70's in L.A. with Phil Lynott, Gary Moore, Scott Gorham and a young Huey Lewis on harmonica ... Was as good as it gets!
An awesome tribute to Lizzy indeed... Yeah, Gary Moore was a serious force on the 6 string but... you have to give Gorham his fair credit.. one of rocks highly overlooked and underrated guitarists... without him Lizzy would not have been the same or dare I say, as successful as they were.
I was lucky enough to see Gary live twice, and he was wonderful. I had never heard of him until I saw him back up Rush in the 80's. He was touring on the Victims of the future album, and I knew he was special after about one minute! His guitar tone was so beautiful and powerful, I remember it to this day. Also got to see him in a small club in Chicago. It was his Wild frontier tour, and there couldn't have been more than 300-400 people there. As great as he was, he never hit big in the US, especially in his hard rocking years. Nobody plays with more soul and passion than Gary.. An all time great!
R.I.P. To Gary & Paul Both as sad as it is to say:/. I am 23 years old… grew up to these tunes, listen to them to this very day with a smile and goosebumps every-time i listen. Thank You Thin Lizzy for getting me through the everything in life. You shall never be forgotten
Probably my all time favorite band. One of my favorite songs but cant really pick a favorite. Gary is such a force. Scott is quite the poser but he can actually play so he can pose all he wants. Sad that Phil and Gary cannot treat us to their talent any longer. Rock on Scott!!
We can, we must, and we will honor the massive impact of Phil Lynnott’s poeticism, punch and melodic structure. But Jesus Christ the twin attack of such beautifully synchronized dual leads is a wonder all its own to behold. And it really made Thin Lizzy such a magical powerhouse.
Two of the best worldwide approved rock solo guitarists of all times and they harmonize well. Best pair in Thin Lizzy ever, but unfortunately just for a short period of time. RIP Gary - and Scott keep on playing as long as you can. Love you guys.
Since the day my father showed me this song, my first day of football practice in first grade 2006 . I was so nervous and after i heard this song i was so empowered and comforted. To this day this is my go to song to get in the right mind set. Thank You thin lizzy for everything even though i couldnt witness you guys live
It's a joy to see performers putting their whole heart into a song out of love for someone who meant much to them and is no longer there to play with them! Gary may not have always been in Thin Lizzy, but it's clear that he loved Phil just like the rest of the band!
Phill on bass. Jimi on guitar.. Ginger Baker on drums.. Jim Morrison Vocals.. What a HEAVENLY dream line up I've got to see em when I finally die and get to heaven too.. x
I've had Bad Reputation for years and have always gone back to it. I have recently discovered all of this amazing film on youtube of Thin Lizzy and the great guitarists who played in the band. Time to buy the whole Thin Lizzy calalog. Truely one of the greatest and underappreciated bands of all time. One of my other favs is King's X. I guess an like the underdogs.
Thin Lizzy will always be Dublin's and Ireland's finest musical export. Unlike others, originality was their trademark. Not for them any kind of manufactured sound. They didn't just break the rules they made up their own. Anyone who saw them live knows exactly what I mean!!
I was in a bar band in the 90s and we would close a set with Cowboy Song then right into Boys are Back. An awesome one two punch. Rip dear Phil. Covid watching in Hawaii 10/24/20 😷🤙🏼
Oh yes I remember the cowboy song way back in the seventies a buddy of ours used to pick one person and take us out cruising in his 69 charger 500 he would provide the pot and the music he would drive you around town (piscataway NJ) and show you things that you didn't know even exist in your own little town when it was my turn I was lucky enough to have thin Lizzy live and dangerous he explained this the whole album song for song to me I've never forgotten the cowboy song rest in peace gentlemen. 😎 And a very huge thank you Ron Parker those memories will never fade.
Sometime great music puts the hairs up on the back of your neck, sometimes there are no adjectives to describe how this makes me feel.....maybe crying with twin dueling guitar legends in heavenly delight!
That guitar solo of Gary’s, the way he puts the breaks on and screams that note out while Scott plays with the crowd,, that’s got to be Downey on drums? Surely, if it isn’t he’s the only other drummer who can play like this.
Ive got this Concert on DVD Awsome Concert Gary Moore Was a Amazing Guitarist RIP Gary And Phil. I'm Left handed Guitarist from South Wales I huge Fan of Gary Moore and Thin Lizzy
Love this. Met Phil once in Dublin, an anthem of my youth. On a recent motorcycle trip this was my go to when it was bad.....legends! Thank you gentleman.
every time i hear this song. Gary Moore's playing on the solo just punches me in the gut! this guy was a guitar genius and a rock legend even if most don't know his name.
Gary looks like he was having so much fun at this concert. He spent his whole career being hard on himself, striving for a perfection he could never achieve, because he didn't realize that to all of us he was already light years beyond perfect. Hopefully in these later years he realized that and got to enjoy what he did.
..Seeing Scott Gorham and Gary Moore..together again..doing what they do best: sublime.
Fender and Gibson, perfectly in harmony
No big hair makeup bullshit ,just pure frickin rock +roll
Been listening to that song for 47 years and it never gets old.
still sends chills…
Still blast live and dangerous, I'm 53 my kids think I'm nuts
Well said. 67 here
Im 22 and I can tell this song WILL never get old
Was blessed to see Thin Lizzy with both Scott and Gary. Thank you Lord for letting me be a teenager in the Seventies!!
Amen brother...
Best rock act I’ve ever seen and believe me I’ve seen em all
amen brother
Dare I say better than the original. Brilliant
second solo on cowboy song has to be one of the most life affirming, fist clenching leads of all time. It never fails to raise goosebumps on me when I hear it.
Goosebumps here
Para mim um dos melhores solos de sempre.

Amen brother...
I literally just posted on FB about my love of the second solo. It's brilliant!!
Here we are 11 years later. Gary Moore still loved and missed as much as he will ever be. God Bless you Gary Moore. Such a sad loss !
Agora já faz 12 anos que gary moore foi conhecer Deus em pessoa !
Amen Goodbye Gary and Phil. Love this band
Gary Moore...one of rock's greatest guitar players and a humble man.
❤
A ferocious version, for sure! So sad we lost both Phil and Gary. I know they are rocking out in the afterlife.
That haunting intro gives me chills. His chord inversions somewhat modernizes the song. It proves Gary’s mastery of the guitar and demonstrates his knowledge of harmony and phrasing. Truly a musical force, no doubt one of the very best.
why's it haunting? i'd say more a calming vibe
@@JoeMama-jf4nu Chorus Effect pedal does give a "haunting" tone depending on how you interpret it.
Rock virtuoso
Sad...to turn on the radio today. You are lucky to have a guitar in the songs...Let alone a solo.
Gary Moore and Scott Gorham.....this song always kicked live with the "twin lead guitars".
3rd above harmony never gets old! The signature Thin Lizzy sound
† February 06 2012 † Exactly one year ago we were losing Gary sir here, one of the greatests. Let's mark this day with a big load of thumbs up for Gary and Thin Lizzy, people!
Well said.👍👍
What an awesome rendition of the Cowboy Song. Phil would be proud!
Tributes like this bring a smile to my face this is what legendary rock and rollers do for each other. KEEP ROCK AND ROLL ALIVE!!!!! RIP GARY & PHIL🎸✌
I was blessed to see Thin Lizzy live in the late 70's in L.A. with Phil Lynott, Gary Moore, Scott Gorham and a young Huey Lewis on harmonica ... Was as good as it gets!
The saddest part about this song is that it has to end
your very right my friend !!!
Phil sings it better, end off, other wise we would b talking of Gary Moore being better, he's not!
Simple just Play on repeat
so true...
Scott one of the best and fine
@@montfirenze Indeed... another "Legend" in my book of Awesome Rock Guitarists
Sorry - Scott sound terrible with that strat. Just not right. Gary - kills it as usual with the real deal for Lizzy songs - a LP.
You are 1000% correct, Gary is one of the best ever, but he matches Gary Note for note on so many great songs, Gorham is absolutely killer here.
@@tigerlikeswater Sorry about that elephant walking over your ear ;) GM LesPaul + Scott's Strat - perfect harmony on this song.
yes one of the best drummers ever.
Yeah Brian Downey is a Awsome Drummer
Rock in peace Phil Lynnot and Gary Moore

Perfect rendition of a perfect song - twin guitars at 3:42 are mindblowing, still crazy after all these years.
simply fantastic
Rest in Peace Gary Moore
Gary put a lot of work into this. Even the various Lizzy members that came out played wrong notes. Gary was spot on with his playing.
Phil may have had his demons , but damn he recruited some of the best rock guitarists ever created.
RIP to them all and keep rockin'.....\m/
Love the energy the crowd is giving them!!! God bless Gary Moore and Phil Lynott and THIN LIZZY!!!!!!
The stunningly gifted(left handed ffs!!) Gary Moore, Backed by complete musicians! :)
Two guitarheroes, one late and one still alive. Music, can't be thougher than this. And hardly any better.
I want a life do-over. This was the absolute best time of my teenage life.
Wow is all I can say. What a tribute. This is a legendary song.
Scott was the one constant during Thin Lizzy on guitar. The band wouldn't have been the same without him.

One legend singing a tribute to another!!
I saw Gary play with Thin Lizzy in the 70's one of the best concerts I ever attended
My ALL-TIME favorite THIN LIZZY songs!!!!! Miss you Phil & Gary, legends forever!!!
Best Lizzy song ever...
Mine was emerald
I have goosebumps on my arms and a tear in my eyes watching this

Just one year ... and we will never forget you, Gary ...

The Boys are back in Town ...
I almost tear up watching this. Magical...
They absolutely killed this song. Plus, I never get tired of hearing Gary play
Probably my all time favorite band. One of my favorite songs but cant really pick a favorite. Gary is such a force. Scott is quite the poser but he can actually play so he can pose all he wants. Sad that Phil and Gary cannot treat us to their talent any longer. Rock on Scott!!
Today, I'm still feeling the energy that crowd was feeling.
Whoah.
The classic Thin Lizzy sound of Gary and Scott’s twin guitar..the best
Man this performance is just awesome! Gary could do it all, Scott is amazing too.
Glad I found this, big Lizzy fan.
Gary Moore and Scott Gorham

Now this is music! This is what I grew up listening to and it is just as good now. 👍❤️ great song
