It's a shame, there isn't a classic keyboard intro like the one on the Wild Frontier record. I learned to play the whole song, quite well, but I miss that intro, which strongly reminds me of a sunrise somewhere in the mountains. Otherwise, this song is one of the most beautiful creations that Gary gave us. Gary, let your guitar weep in the choir of angels, where you have been for several years...
The first minute or so of this version was used as the "theme" or "intro" for a Swedish society examination program on tv for over a decade. Don't remember how the editorial found this one. Never the less when you heard or still hear today Gary play like this...it's like beyond what words can say. Very few guitarists can/could express them self in such emotional and sensitive way that Gary did. If he couldn't say with words how he felt then he let the guitar spoke for him and everyone could feel and understand his feelings, pain, joy etc. He is sorely missed for sure.
Gary Moore... I bought a C-cassette, from Swedish side. J-music was The name of store.. And i still have it, that cass... It was so mighty year of '85 then. ❤😊 He was a legend. And i had a poster of him, on my teeny weeny wall, so true is that thing also. 😢

The pauses are timed just long enough for your ears and brain to fully appreciate while still being in perfect company with the rest of the notes. I've lost track of how many times I've listened to this particular upload before I have commented. RIP Gary Moore
Anyone in 2020?? This is timeless.. longo life for the great soulfull Gary Moore!!
André Guimarães listening in 2020 too
👍
If we can alive all of this see you in 2040 :)
@@AytekCan see you !!! yeah!!!
2021 :)
I cried and still do from the day Mr. Moore left us. With a lot of respect to the greatest guitarist, but to me he is the absolute number one.
agree, his feelings on the guitar is phenomenal
Gary Moore is a legend..
I'm a Thai person who likes to listen to Gary Moore a lot and will continue to listen until I get old.And it's the loss of RIP Gary Moore.
When the Grand Master aka GARY MOORE produces pieces of Musical Poetry - HE will NEVER BE ALONE !! Because he has the ability to takes US ALL WITH HIM to heaven & beyond! RIP GM
,,👋
The Moore I listen to Gary More the more I actually think he has been the most amazing guitarist of all time. Actually. Even dare I say Dave Gilmour.
Wish I knew when this was. I saw Gary at the Hammersmith Odeon Back in the very early 80's.
My favorite guitarist of all time. So sad that millions of people don't know him. I'm glad that my local radio station played "Still got the blues" back in the late 90's and then I re-discovered him, hearing a live version of that song from "Blues Alive" 10 years later. So sad that he passed on before I got a chance to see him live.
same for me
I am now in villa sessions blues in vila do conde to leasten a tribut to Gary Moore. At the momente i didi not know he dies. Gary Moore and all this blues music didi not die . He still alive in our soul . Thanhs to this great momment. Thanks vila do conde ........Thanhs a lot . Big Hug for all .
Some guitarists play the instrument..and some play the instrument and put their emotions through it, their feelings through it, Mr. Gary Moore is one of those latter people, and it is heard through every note, every sequence and every passage.
R.I.P. Gary, you always were underappreciated on this earth, but not for the people who can really hear.
Like Jimi!!!
THIS WAS FOR PHIL LYNOT GARY JUST POURZ HIMSELF INTO THIS SONG! 'THE LONER"!! WOW! IT MOVES U IN WAYS U NEVER THOT AN INSTRUMENTAL COULD EVER DO? BY A TRUE LEGEND! R.I.P. GARY MOORE, 2020 & STILL LISTENING, BUT YOUR STILL SO SADLY MISSED SIR ,XXX
I'm one of the ones that can actually hear, and I'm 21. May be hope for this next generation 🤔
True ..!
Gary was great.
Still groovie after all these years. Rest in eternal infamy my friend.
R.I.P... The music has an empty place where you used to be...
Well put.
He will never lose the blues
5:40 The way he ends that note in a drastic, dramatic, raw guitar scream ...
The first time I heard that kind of heart tearing note 🎵 it resembles how my heart and soul feel the absence of my beloved mother.
I am so sad to properly discover Garrry little late and so happy that I have so much to look forward to from his complex blues note to high intensity Jazz beats and from rocking rock tunes to his emotional, solemn & lengthy guitar solos. Not easy to find any other hero like him.
Better late than never.me 2. It was too late for me because just as I found out about Gary in /2010/ 2011. I heard on the news he die within a couple years. Beore that, I did not pay attention to Gary Moore beside the song "Still Got the blue"....but just a casual listener ...not a die hard Gary Moore Fan after 2010/11.
Well said. I feel the same.I was drunk when I posted the stupid comment. And listening to The Loner. Long live Gary!
Today is 03.10.2020 and I'm still listening to you!...Years after we have lost you. Rest in peace Gary! You left something for us.
Coming across this for the first time today 7/14/2022. This is why I Love UA-cam recommendations.

Gary Moore is one of the GIANTS of the electric guitar. His feel, intuition for the melody and his unbelievable technique and speed were never bettered and probably will never be. ❤️
Gary it truly a legend! I didn't know much about him until my brother one day played one of his songs. Since that day I have always listened to his songs. This person is beyond description even though his dead but his soul is still alive. Amen
