Stunning so clear and great sound Band at its best Phil Brian Scott and the most under rated guitarist never got credits he deserved Snowy .what a band
This is my favorite Thin Lizzy song . I recall a friend bringing the vinyl album over and a bag of weed when I was a teen . When this song played , I fell in love with it and had to go buy it , and I still have it ! It is strange that I can recall the exact moment when I heard certain music for the first time , like Robin Trower , etc . , most of the times it was smoking weed (weak stuff in those days ) .
@@frankpohl8746 lol, I just remembered them calling it homegrown as far as the cheap weak stuff . They called the better stuff Columbian , and later we were getting Red Haired Sess , as they called it . I actually stopped smoking weed way back in the early 90's when I smoked some tainted stuff my older bro brought over . I was really messed up from it , whatever it was laced with made me forget things . I literally would be driving somewhere and all of the sudden wake up out of a trance like deal . I did not remember getting out of bed , getting in the car , or driving to where I was ? did I run red stoplights ? I did not recall anything from that morning . That went on for several days , I asked my Bro what the hell was in it , and he said nothing , and he always goes through that ! I had smoked weed for may years and never went through anything like that . I was done , and never touched it again . Now that it's legal in Michigan , I may grow some of my own to be sure it's not messed with .
I saw them in 74 tour with Gary Moore and Scott Gorham. It was $5 general admission for 5 bands. Thin Lizzy was the headliner. At the old Michigan Palace in Detroit.
I Love this song, it just gives you a good feeling. These guys were extremely talented. It makes you feel free, even justvfor that moment. Rip Paul and Gary. Peace

They walked on stage at the Fox Theater in Atlanta in like 1979, said "we're Thin Lizzy and we're here to kick your ass" or some such and did just that. was on the front row.
One of my most memorable gigs was Lizzy in Dalymount in 1975 or 1976...was about three rows back in an absolute surge...but I lasted...me and Maxer...RIP Phillo
Many of us couldn't have been at concerts back then (in Germany, as Germans), but damn we had the best live concerts in the 80s in our country (Lorely and Essener Gruga-Halle), via TV. I was at everxy TV Concert at the" Rote Punkt" in Freiburg, South Germany. Mani!, you made it happen!! Zottel and all the Gang! Best times ever! Wir bleiben ewiglich vebunden....
Already a statue of him in Dublin , i saw them play a small venue near me in 1980 Kirkcaldy in Fife Scotland ...I was thirteen years old and my life was changed forever that day ...a true rock star who never got the credit he deserved....
Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham on dueling guitars is amazing.. An Irish rock and roll band that truly ended 35 years ago when we lost Phil. January 4, 1986..
You are correct.. It's Snowy White. He was a second/back up guitarist on Pink Floyd's Animals Tour in 77. Gorham saw him play and asked him to join TL..
I loved Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy, They were the greatest rocking band of all time, my 6 brothers and I were very lucky to get to see them play all during their touring and recording times. I still miss Phil and I always will

Mine two.
You didn't like mex.dirt weed?
Minus the smoking weed part.
Robin Trower is so underrated
I was lucky to see this great band in 1979 with Nazareth!
That was the first live show I saw .
I heard he was a legend in concert. I can see it. Never had a chance to see them......but I sure loved it. This hit square on high school for me.
I saw them in 74 tour with Gary Moore and Scott Gorham. It was $5 general admission for 5 bands. Thin Lizzy was the headliner. At the old Michigan Palace in Detroit.
The greatest rock band and live band of all time rest well Philip you are so missed
I had the honer of seeing thin Lizzy on several occasions! What a beautiful gift that was in my youth. And still is on y tube 🎼
I Love this song, it just gives you a good feeling. These guys were extremely talented. It makes you feel free, even justvfor that moment. Rip Paul and Gary. Peace
Where else can you hear a black Irishman singing about being a cowboy?
RIP - Phil ~
His name was PHIL!!!!
RIP Paul Lynott and James Moore hahaaa
paul who
Would have loved to have seen Phil and Thin Lizzy in their prime. A great voice and band!
Songs this good are just not written today....
Rock used to be so good...
First heard this time covered by Golden Smog and I thought “Wow that song rocks!” Now I know that Thin Lizzy deserves the props! Props to you!
I went and see them back in 1978 they were backing up Queen and I seen Queen 6 times I could not choose which band was better after seeing them one time most underrated band I've ever seen the Providence Civic center in Rhode Island was rockin so loud for this band what a concert packed God rest his soul
Damn, I wish I could go back in time.
Yeah , the live album was a party starter in them far away times . And to Phil - miss you and your music , R.I.P
Fitten to be 64 in an hour and I still love this tune!
Happy Birthday!
@@PhilosopherNewport Hell yeah! That's how I identify now!
Right On! Happy Birthday!!
Happy birthday brother ✊
@@gimpyboy-joy2825 Thanks. You play guitar?
They walked on stage at the Fox Theater in Atlanta in like 1979, said "we're Thin Lizzy and we're here to kick your ass" or some such and did just that. was on the front row.
Thin Lizzy at their living, loving, fire 🔥 breathing best. Absolute GOLD ! Cheers 🥂
Brian Downey holds this band together like no one else
well Scott Gorham was really a life force in the band... IMO
Very true Downey was faultless fantastic musician
An awesome and IMHO underrated drummer. But of course Lizzy as a band was always great, no matter which various gitarrists played during the eras.
Love Brian, but it's obvious that he was really coked up here! To damn fast! lol.
One of my most memorable gigs was Lizzy in Dalymount in 1975 or 1976...was about three rows back in an absolute surge...but I lasted...me and Maxer...RIP Phillo
I saw them with Graham Parker at SF Winterland. Great show
So much content in 1 song ....just perfect... So many guitar tones and textures...
MAN!! THE FUN WE HAD WHEN THIS BAND HAD IT GOING ON!! "YEEOWZAA!!"
Phil held the stage like a nuclear missile in a silo...never going off but having the absolute ability to do so at any time.
What a Ripper!
Phils 80s music was great if he had only lived longer,,, damn what a loss
Awesome!!!!! Wish I coulda been in that crowd. The dueling Les Pauls.
I think you had to play a Paul to be in Lizzy.
@@markhunter8554 Hell yea your right !!!
Phil was a musical genius. Damn drugs.
Snowy White and Scott Gorham playing twin guitars...it doesn't get better!
There all just true rockstars..especially the way they plant themselves and dig in on stage all of em
One of my favorite bands ever Phil is so much missed a real rock star
Already a statue of him in Dublin , i saw them play a small venue near me in 1980 Kirkcaldy in Fife Scotland ...I was thirteen years old and my life was changed forever that day ...a true rock star who never got the credit he deserved....
I regret not being born in time to see Phil Lynott live.
we all do man... we all do..
Me too!
I was on a bus in Glasgow Scotland when it came on the radio....Phil Lynott is dead! I burst into tears ,he was magnificent!!
@@lindamackie674 that's a great horrible story lol.
I saw Thin Lizzy at the Roxy Houston Texas in 1981 remember like yesterday 👍🏻✌🏻
Scott Gorham and Snowy White: killer duo!
Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham on dueling guitars is amazing.. An Irish rock and roll band that truly ended 35 years ago when we lost Phil. January 4, 1986..
I don't know who the 2nd guitarist is here. Certainly not Robertson.
You are correct.. It's Snowy White. He was a second/back up guitarist on Pink Floyd's Animals Tour in 77. Gorham saw him play and asked him to join TL..
@@davidg.9932 Thx for your reply. In reading other comments earlier today, yes I found out it was White. Cheerz
What a hook, incredible .
You want a hook listen to “the Emerald song” great hook and what a great song. I grew up on Thin Lizzy. Great and underrated band
I loved Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy, They were the greatest rocking band of all time, my 6 brothers and I were very lucky to get to see them play all during their touring and recording times. I still miss Phil and I always will
How many great musicians have we lost to drugs phil lynott Paul Kossof jimmy hendrix the list goes on .
If only they could have kicked the habit how much more great music could they have given this world
Still in love with this band, I miss you Phil... 😢
This is a Tejas radio staple after midnight , I use to drive taxi 🚕 in early 2000s night shift always on stations, soon as customers left vehicle CRANKED IT UP !
Talents at its best, amazing!
I was blessed to see Thin Lizzy in 76. Still remember the picks being thrown into the crowd. Great show. I can't remember who they warned up.
I saw them at the Michigan Palace in 74 & 76 right before it closed. $5 for 5 unheard of bands. Rocked my Bones.
@@revwahfair I have a Phopto Album full of ticket stubs. Like Black Sabbath for $3.50 The Stones were the only band that charged $10 . Those were the best days. We could go to the Shows for $8. That included the ticket and drinks and a bus ride.
@@kurtsherrick2066 I got 1st row balcony for the Stones and a separate concert Lou Reed with 100 tv sets on white and black static. I remember what drugs I took. I wrote them on the stub. Both concerts I had Lilly F40 Reds. Wish they still made those. Valium is the only thing close.lol
@@revwahfair That is funny you meantioned the Reds. I had a friend I could see sitting a few rows over from me during the Todd Rundgren RA Tour he was he was on the front row of the Balcony and he slept on the front top of the Balcony. I think it was Secobarbital if I remember correctly. That is what I tell the younger people. We had real drugs back then. Glad we survived!! Iam sure you are like me and know so many that didn't make it through those years.
@@revwahfair By the way I lived in Memphis. I was actually at the first concert Mick Jaggar plsyed Guitar on Stage. Mick is a huge fan of Furry Lewis a real Delta Blues Artist. The Stones brought Furry a new Guitar. Mick said he wanted Furry to see him play on stage the first time. It was the Some Girls Tour in 78. We had a go through Hunfreds of Feminist to get into the Colosseum. They were protesting the Album Cover. It was a experience.
God how lucky was I to see these guys..saw them around 6 times with phil lynott..once seen never forgotten..this footage is tremendous thanks for posting...memories to last a lifetime..👍👍
amazing guitar
Cowboy Song
Thin Lizzy
I am just a cowboy lonesome on the trail
A starry night the campfire light
The coyote call
And the howling winds wail
So I'll ride out to the old sundown
I am just a cowboy lonesome on the trail
Lord I'm just thinkin' about a certain female
The nights we spent together ridin' on the range
Lookin' back it didn't seem so strange
Roll me over and turn me around
Let me keep spinnin' till I hit the ground
Roll me over and let me go ridin' in the rodeo
I was took in Texas I did not know her name
Lord all these southern girls they seem the same
Down below the border in a town in Mexico
I got my job bustin' broncs for the rodeo
Roll me over and turn me around
Let me keep spinnin' till I hit the ground
Roll me over and let me go runnin' free with the buffalo
(Here I go)
Roll me over
And I'll turn around
And I'll move my fingers
Up and down
Up and down
It's okay amigo
Just let me go
Ridin' in the rodeo
Roll me over and turn me around
Let me keep spinnin' till I hit the ground
Roll me over and let me go ridin' in the rodeo
Roll me over and set me free
The cowboy's life is the life for me
Composers: P. Lynott, B. Downey
Thank you!
This is my favorite band of all time and Phil left us way too soon but his music will live on FOREVER R.I.P. Phil Lynot!!!
Sure miss these guys. I still have the banner from the show in 83’ in Nuremberg.
I love his honest word play at the end to the audience: Nope, the cowboy life is not the way for you.
It's a hard life!!! but it's a hell of a dream !!!!
gotta love the showmanship with that energy. that's rock and roll
Wow - this is incredible footage..
Still in my top 3 bands... so fantastic. And Phil so beautiful. Missing them.
Stunning
What a band. Saw them play live a few times and they were great. Loads of classic songs and this is one of them.
Wunderbar 🎉awesome
Yup, this is definitely a “video example” of what rock music is…………….actually, of what good music is in general of any genre.
I love these guys. I saw them open for REO Speedwagon in 77 in Kalamazoo.
The truth is you had seen them and follow them RIP and rock and roll
Lizzy was a gem! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
These guys singing about cowboys makes this Montanan happy!
