Her fanbase would have been a lot larger if she didn't completely alienate men. Madonna kills it! Love the way she comes on stage... swaying and smiling, so full of life and energy! Seems happy and takes me back to such a wonderful period in this crazy life! Thank you Madonna! What a perfect moment in time! I’ve watched this about 100 times now... never gets old! 💯 Still better than any of the crap put out today!
Madonna in 1985 was the hottest new star on the planet. I was 14 and me and my friends absolutely loved her. She had an energy and sass and style we'd never really seen before.
This concert and one on Wembley stadium, were simultaneously broadcasted on almost 95% of TV sets in the world. This is something so amazing, never achieved before, and certainly could not be achieved even close nowadays. I was living in a socialist country in eastern Europe, with only two channels, state owned, and they broadcast it live. I was 10 and watched some great live performances for the first time, no stars were doing concerts in East Europe then. Madonna’s performance is amazing, her stage presence is so mesmerizing, she was a star even then, but you could see she was becoming world famous.
Well sorry to bring up this, but when talking to the crowd later about the hot weather and her being slightly overdressed for the occasion, She said "I ain't taking shit off today...they might hold it against me 10 years from now" That was a direct reference to the Playboy and Penthouse magazine nude pictures of her that was released right around the time of Live-Aid.
I lived across the stadium when this happened. Everyone on my block went and got food and drinks during this, because she was treated like a flash in a pan. I stayed and danced my ass off.
Me too. I’m reading Mary Gabriel’s new bio of Madonna and as I get to each event in the book, like this classic performance, I watch and listen before resuming reading. Time makes us forget how talented performers like Madonna were and revisiting makes me so thankful I was alive as a young person to witness and experience. ☮️❤️🕺🎸
This was all live vocals. No backing track. She truly is underated as a singer. Whenever there's a best singers list she's never there. Its all about hitting the highest notes and vocal gymnastics but its never about singing with real physical techniques like this. And besides, her range from singing pop, dance, r&b, jazz, rock, folk, and standards is as varied as that of Linda Ronstadt's anthology.
Madonna is. Awesome here this. Is one of her best performances ever seriously. She put her. Heart and soul. Into theres hunger everywhere. Love makes the world go round dont. Judge a man. Until your in. His shoes excellent. Words. She looks beautiful. Go girl 6 27 24. Whose here with me 2024 i cant believe this is almost 40. Years ago timeless and precious
Madonna in a live performance is out of this world. In this live aid performance she raises the bar so high that it is practically impossible for any modern female singer to match the non stop dancing while singing without autotune 🔥🔥🔥. Amazing breath control. If any of these modern female singers tries this without auto tune singing and dancing nonstop and then compare this to this live performance you will then appreciate the greatness of this singer. Madonna is simply the best.
She was a phenom, still is. Without a doubt, no one else is like Madonna, as she is an icon beyond compare. But, just as a matter of fact, Pink has a much better vocal range, and sings while performing gymnastics and acrobatics simultaneously.

He shook up the 80s big time with his style, voice, music, fashion, people were dressing like him in the clubs. He was always on every talk show. He broke the pop music mold.🤩
Who's he?
@ambiecutler3263 this review was meant for Boy George.
I can't believe how incredibly in shape she was. She's literally dancing and singing non stop and you can't even hear in her voice that she's out of breath. This was when she was about to go Sky Hi. Those were such great times!
LOVE MADONNA XXX
Her diet in nyc as a struggling artist was peanuts popcorn and yogurt
It was 95 degrees at JFK Stadium when she started her set.
She was at her peak then, to dance and sing together is some doing
An Extraordinary Day An Extraordinary Performance An Extraordinary Artist LOVE MADONNA ALWAYS XXX
She was completely in her sweet spot right here. Never as good, and would never be any better. This was the Madonna that took the world by storm.
Wrong. She would make bigger waves with Like a Prayer and Vogue 5 years later. Then even more with Ray of Light.
@@InspiredFortunes lol popularity wise 85 was her peak, at least in the US.
@@johnsonmark65 BS. She hadnt even released True Blue yet. In 1986 that album would change everything.
@@InspiredFortunes there is a reason why Like a Virgin is her best selling album in the US, also 85 is when every single teenage girl was dressing like her.
Her fanbase would have been a lot larger if she didn't completely alienate men. I lived through the 80's and I remember Madonna being very much for girls only while her main competitor in the pop music business (Michael Jackson) appealed to men and women equally, and had a much larger following as a result.
One of her best songs. Madonna was unimaginably gorgeous and showed that she can do cardio and sing. Live Aid was a once in a lifetime event.
This was what was on when I first tuned on that day almost 40 years ago. Hard to Believe it, I'll never forget it.
Madonna's enjoying herself here. Great smile and super moves. Just what was needed at Live Aid.
People were dying of starvation in Africa and you guys used it as an excuse to have a big singing party lol
@@lepetitchat123 that’s the POINT! They raised MILLIONS of dollars to aid the starving people in Ethiopia.
Madonna is a perfect example of beauty with brain
Madonna is much more than that.

Madonna kills it! Love the way she comes on stage... swaying and smiling, so full of life and energy! Seems happy and takes me back to such a wonderful period in this crazy life! Thank you Madonna! What a perfect moment in time! I’ve watched this about 100 times now... never gets old! 💯 Still better than any of the crap put out today!
she couldn't have been that happy, she was married to Sean Penn at the time.
@@syko188 are you a sadist?
@@syko188 I believe she’s said in interviews that he was the love of her life? She seemed super happy in this video!
Yes! And she was authentic in her happiness. That was contagious. What a talent! Great dancer.
Look up Queen Live Aid

Remember, that was in the middle of Summer and she is performing at the highest level. Much respect...a true performing!
I watched bohemian rhapsody and now I’m watching all the performances. Beautiful!!!
I agree ,,

Kimberly Rolon me too hhhhhh
Same 👍
Me too I was 16 years old when Live Aid came TV it was on from morning to night.
Madonna in 1985 was the hottest new star on the planet. I was 14 and me and my friends absolutely loved her. She had an energy and sass and style we'd never really seen before.
Magic. Re-discovering how fabulous she and the times were. Love love ❤️
Great stuff!!
Memory lane where everything is pure musical extravaganza of the 80's...and beyond! ☺️🥰Maddona thanks for the music 🎶🎵
Love her beautiful smile when she turns round in the beginning , she looks so happy . She is so enthusiastic in this performance & is a lot of fun 🤩💖
I was in 4th grade I think at this time and every girl wanted to be Madonna.
Dançar e cantar?! Sem backup você?! Amo essa mulher ❤
She's so amazing and true legend... singing and dancing live with all her energy!!!
She is not legend
those backing dancers need a massive clap too

@@marcoantonioherreracuevas590 I can't answer that.
I saw it at hungarian television...from Romania close to the border with a yagi antenna...
She has Unbelievable energy
Those many people, without a cellphone, all ears to the artist.
That’s how it should be 😎😎
Eu tenho celular pra passar pra Madonna???
Não eu vou te ensinar como ser uma pessoa melhor porque Deus existe
No auto tune, no garbage, no nastiness, no gross lyrics. She is singing and dancing!
Well sorry to bring up this, but when talking to the crowd later about the hot weather and her being slightly overdressed for the occasion, She said "I ain't taking shit off today...they might hold it against me 10 years from now" That was a direct reference to the Playboy and Penthouse magazine nude pictures of her that was released right around the time of Live-Aid.
and it's very ordinary. Queen on the other hand...
@@luckyescape2708 U2 were waaaayyy better than Queen.
@@Macca-rb5ok not at Live Aid.
She could have used that autotune very well though.
I lived across the stadium when this happened. Everyone on my block went and got food and drinks during this, because she was treated like a flash in a pan. I stayed and danced my ass off.
Loved those energy in live performances back then. Raw, Authentic artist and talents 💖
The energy of how happy she was up there..... Omg she is a legend she is Queen of Pop and she from my state Michigan
Madonna my idol. She is one of a kind. No other entertainer can match her.
Albino Natividad I like Madonna, but that statement is ridiculous.

@Sabah Zarid he wasn't able to move at age 40 lmao don't be dumb he's overrated.
She's my idol too.

Yep I'm here still loveing Madonna music 😊
Better times... nothing compares!!! The 1980's!!! 🥺😭😭

I think Janet would've been another solid contestant. But Madonna's dancing and stage performance and presence is better.
I think Mariah Carey owns that title
This was all live vocals. No backing track. She truly is underated as a singer. Whenever there's a best singers list she's never there. Its all about hitting the highest notes and vocal gymnastics but its never about singing with real physical techniques like this. And besides, her range from singing pop, dance, r&b, jazz, rock, folk, and standards is as varied as that of Linda Ronstadt's anthology.
She earned every penny she made.

I guess you've heard annother audiotrack or something cause the singing was horrible.
Hi melissa hope you're okay?
Non horrible le son. Elle chante faux !
This performance goes to show you how legendary Madonna is! No autotune or lip-syncing.
I agree totally
Came from nowhere and became the best selling solo female artist ever.

She was a phenom, still is. Without a doubt, no one else is like Madonna, as she is an icon beyond compare. But, just as a matter of fact, Pink has a much better vocal range, and sings while performing gymnastics and acrobatics simultaneously.
Madonna looks happier and the world too in the time.
Great comment and so true... I have lived both worlds.

I’m 25 years old and I’ve always known about Madonna’s “hit songs” but after the release of Madame X (which I love), I really wanted to go back and explore her discography in full. I’m so glad I did because her albums are all different, some better than others. I really love Ray of Light and Erotica. Masterpieces. Bedtime Stories is good too. And of course Confessions for good dance music. I’ll be seeing Madonna for the first time in concert this October and I’m pumped. It’s always been on my bucket list to see this woman live. I want to cherish her while we still have her around.
