I remember seeing the tour she did right after this -- MDNA-- and when she did Like A Prayer as the 2nd to last song it was so powerful to look around the arena with EVERYONE dancing to one of the most iconic songs of the 80s generation. Imagine that same thing amped up to this stadium!

@@111laetitia a lot of people dont understand how to appreciate that these two things together are an incredible feat of performance. staying on choreography and mark through the entire performance is a testament to hard work and dedication. so many hate on her because they think she's old and should hang it up but I think she's still at the top of her game and she continues to move the bar. i got choked up watching this because this was a real culmination of so much of her blood sweat and tears. the fact that she was surrounded by so many that you could see she trustd and felt connected to artistically was stunning.
I was there as part of a group sponsored by Firestone brought in just for the halftime show, and it was INCREDIBLE!!! We were across the field at the 30 yd line standing next to a huge speaker, and it was absolutely mind-blowing!!! What an experience!!
I really respect an artist who, after being on stage for over 30 years, still puts her soul and full presence in every little thing. She's not jaded, it didn't become a job. She's not resting on her laurels. She is SHINING and PERFORMING epically. That's really SOMETHING! She was meant for this.
What am I going to say. I never attended any paid rock n roll concert in my life except one time Madonna Concert in the 80s. It was the best memory of my life. Two things: 1. i don't think she made any money on this performance. I think production cost of her side is close to $5 million dollars with all those people. She is doing it for the FAN. This was just so over the top! I can’t believe the set up was 7 minutes when I saw it on tv I was like cool. But when I saw people recordings from other angles it really blew my mind 🤯 they said she has the third best half time show but I don’t understand why she isn’t first.

This was a perfect Superbowl halftime show. Madonna understands American spectacle. Taking the field like the classic Hollywood Cleopatra, cheerleaders, drum line, top dancers, incredible techno visuals, flawless transitions, current pop stars, dance trends, cherry picked gems from a massive hit list, tasteful costumes, excellent arrangements and choreography. Most just give a mini concert. Madonna gave a Superbowl performance with ALL the trimmings.

We are just disappointed that she allowed a bad plastic surgeon yo destroy her beauty. Hard to believe this was 10 years ago! Still my all-time favorite Superbowl halftime show, and not just because it's Madonna. It's genuinely entertaining from start to finish, with not a dull second in between. The costumes, the theatrics, the tight choreography, the seamless transitions, the entrance and exit, everything about it just has a top notch production value that only Madonna has truly mastered.

Beyonce and Lady Gaga's respective halftime shows were solid and had some bright moments but Beyonce's felt very much like a rehash of every other performance by Beyonce, and Lady Gaga's just didn't feel as theatrical and came to a grinding halt when she did her typical piano ballad thing in the middle of the show. Madonna did something that was fresh, inventive, and engaging from start to finish, and felt more like a stage production than just a one-off performance at a football game.

That’s because that’s when everyone turned on the flashlights they were given. Madonna said somewhere that she almost cried seeing each soul lit up that was in the audience…and that it was affirmation for her that people still enjoyed her work.

This was a perfect Superbowl halftime show. Madonna understands American spectacle. Taking the field like the classic Hollywood Cleopatra, cheerleaders, drum line, top dancers, incredible techno visuals, flawless transitions, current pop stars, dance trends, cherry picked gems from a massive hit list, tasteful costumes, excellent arrangements and choreography. Most just give a mini concert. Madonna gave a Superbowl performance with ALL the trimmings.

The cost of the show was 84 million. So she definitely went all out and wanted it to be made to remember. They asked her many times before to perform during halftime but the scheduling did not work out. Some people were comparing her show to U2 and who was better I said I think that's wrong because I said U2 was emotional Madonna was definitely entertaining.

Hard to believe this was 10 years ago! Still my all-time favorite Superbowl halftime show, and not just because it's Madonna. It's genuinely entertaining from start to finish, with not a dull second in between. The costumes, the theatrics, the tight choreography, the seamless transitions, the entrance and exit, everything about it just has a top notch production value that only Madonna has truly mastered.

Beyonce and Lady Gaga's respective halftime shows were solid and had some bright moments but Beyonce's felt very much like a rehash of every other performance by Beyonce, and Lady Gaga's just didn't feel as theatrical and came to a grinding halt when she did her typical piano ballad thing in the middle of the show. Madonna did something that was fresh, inventive, and engaging from start to finish, and felt more like a stage production than just a one-off performance at a football game.

But at the end of the day this is largely just my opinion, and you're entitled to your own.
Ten years ago today (2/5/2012), Madonna showed the world that she is still the most ELECTRIFYING performer in pop music history. The Queen of Pop set the standard for what a superbowl performance should be. I remember people that never really cared for Madonna telling me: "Peter, Madonna SLAYED! She ROCKED that stage!"

I still remember the excitement surrounding this performance. For days, people were talking about Madonna's halftime show. You can tell that she was having a blast on that stage. I especially love that all of the flash and spectacle leads into a relatively subdued but powerful performance of "Like a Prayer."

The 'Like a Prayer' sounds like a cat and a dog in a battle to the death. On the other hand, that VOGUE performance is the best she's ever done.

I remember being 10, back in 91 ,and getting The Immaculate Collection on tape and listening to it from the start to end over and over. I've always loved Madonna! I'm surprised I never broke that cassette. After her my love for rock came in and my next obsession was Guns n Roses, then Nirvana ect.. I know all the words to all of those albums by heart. Even years later I'll hear a song and instantly it all comes back and I know all the lyrics

First time watching this halftime show performance and let me tell you: It's incredible! Especially Voge and Like a Prayer part (this one made me feel so many things, it's one of my favorite songs of Madonna). She is pure talent and a living legend!
