What am I going to say. I never attended any paid rock n roll concert in my life except one time Madonna Concert in the 80s. It was the best memory of my life. Two things: 1. i don't think she made any money on this performance. I think production cost of her side is close to $5 million dollars with all those people. She is doing it for the FAN. She put up everything she got and then some. 2. Her voice "Echoes in Eternity" with this performance. Thank you Madonna.

This really was one of the best half time shows. Madonna has such a vast discography, she could have put in so many more massive hits but she did it right. This was perfect. Ending with Like A Prayer like that was iconic.
I remember seeing the tour she did right after this -- MDNA-- and when she did Like A Prayer as the 2nd to last song it was so powerful to look around the arena with EVERYONE dancing to one of the most iconic songs of the 80s generation. Imagine that same thing amped up to this stadium!
I often return to watch this. Those in the choir must have been elated to perform at this. One of those incredible I was there moments. Fantastic halfway show from Madonna.

@@111laetitia a lot of people dont understand how to appreciate that these two things together are an incredible feat of performance. staying on choreography and mark through the entire performance is a testament to hard work and dedication. so many hate on her because they think she's old and should hang it up but I think she's still at the top of her game and she continues to move the bar. i got choked up watching this because this was a real culmination of so much of her blood sweat and tears. the fact that she was surrounded by so many that you could see she trustd and felt connected to artistically was stunning.
I was there as part of a group sponsored by Firestone brought in just for the halftime show, and it was INCREDIBLE!!! We were across the field at the 30 yd line standing next to a huge speaker, and it was absolutely mind-blowing!!! What an experience!!

But 40 years in an industry as fickle as the pop industry is damn good, she struggled to keep going for the last 15 years but she's just about kept it going for 40 which is fantastic. Shame she's kinda damaged her legacy though in recent years but you can bet everyone will remember her as 'one of the greats' again once she's dead, they always do. Which people were pissed about since it was a school shooting that she knew about. She also was massively late to her concerts, which she made thousands of fans wait up to one and a half hours just to see her. Causing some of her fans to leave because they had to get home, as the concerts already started very late, and her being even later meant people weren’t leaving her shoes until almost 1AM. Then people had to find they’re way home at that time also. And she literally said “Don’t come to my fucking concert if your not happy” which is an asshole thing to say especially being that late and paying a shit ton of money. And a lot of other things.

The cost of the show was 84 million. So she definitely went all out and wanted it to be made to remember. They asked her many times before to perform during halftime but the scheduling did not work out. Some people were comparing her show to U2 and who was better I said I think that's wrong because I said U2 was emotional Madonna was definitely entertaining.
Her face when she looks at all the lights in the stadium during Like a Prayer is everything.How she held it together I'll never know, because I'd be crying like a baby at that amazing sight.
Hard to believe this was 10 years ago! Still my all-time favorite Superbowl halftime show, and not just because it's Madonna. It's genuinely entertaining from start to finish, with not a dull second in between. The costumes, the theatrics, the tight choreography, the seamless transitions, the entrance and exit, everything about it just has a top notch production value that only Madonna has truly mastered.

Beyonce and Lady Gaga's respective halftime shows were solid and had some bright moments but Beyonce's felt very much like a rehash of every other performance by Beyonce, and Lady Gaga's just didn't feel as theatrical and came to a grinding halt when she did her typical piano ballad thing in the middle of the show. Madonna did something that was fresh, inventive, and engaging from start to finish, and felt more like a stage production than just a one-off performance at a football game.

Madonna's Superbowl halftime show stands apart from anything she did before or after, and in a very real way it markedly changed the game for Superbowl halftime shows, paving the way for Beyonce's and every subsequent Superbowl performance. That's why every Superbowl halftime show since Madonna's has tried to copy the same formula, even using the same director that she did. But at the end of the day this is largely just my opinion, and you're entitled to your own.
Say what you want, but Madonna knows how to put on a show and she does it in heels. She is not your average pop star, she is a performing artist and has hits spanning decades. Long live the Queen of Pop!

Ten years ago today (2/5/2012), Madonna showed the world that she is still the most ELECTRIFYING performer in pop music history. The Queen of Pop set the standard for what a superbowl performance should be. I remember people that never really cared for Madonna telling me: "Peter, Madonna SLAYED! She ROCKED that stage!"
This was a perfect Superbowl halftime show. Madonna understands American spectacle. Taking the field like the classic Hollywood Cleopatra, cheerleaders, drum line, top dancers, incredible techno visuals, flawless transitions, current pop stars, dance trends, cherry picked gems from a massive hit list, tasteful costumes, excellent arrangements and choreography. Most just give a mini concert. Madonna gave a Superbowl performance with ALL the trimmings.
The most cohesive, interesting, well arranged halftime show ever. This is top class spectacle. Only Madonna can have thousands of people cheering uncontrollably for 1 minute & 25 seconds straight before she even starts singing! She’s the Queen for a reason.

I feel like this was the first Halftime Show that was a really really BIG production with theatrics. After Madonna, all that followed knew they had to raise the bar and followed suite. She changed the concept. That’s what makes Madonna the queen. Periodt!
One thing I just noticed with this performance is how she really performs for the crowd in the stadium. She looks at them often and the staging is set up to be impressive from their point of view too, not just for the camera angles.
This show was so extravagant, so super-produced, that I believe they subsequently enforced limitations to tone the half time show down, as it was just SO much bigger than the football game.
Madonna knows how to put on a show when I saw this I thought WOW and yes you don’t see huge productions like this anymore. She looked and sounded amazing and her music is so catchy. Madonna is a brilliant business woman as well as an artist she has kept up with the trends throughout the decades. Back in the days when music was played people loved the music from start to end. The screaming was a bit of a nuisance but the idiots usually shut up after a little while and let the audience enjoy the music.

I especially love that all of the flash and spectacle leads into a relatively subdued but powerful performance of "Like a Prayer."

I really respect an artist who, after being on stage for over 30 years, still puts her soul and full presence in every little thing. She's not jaded, it didn't become a job. She's not resting on her laurels. She is SHINING and PERFORMING epically. That's really SOMETHING! She was meant for this.
What am I going to say. I never attended any paid rock n roll concert in my life except one time Madonna Concert in the 80s. It was the best memory of my life. Two things: 1. i don't think she made any money on this performance. I think production cost of her side is close to $5 million dollars with all those people. She is doing it for the FAN. She put up everything she got and then some. 2. Her voice "Echoes in Eternity" with this performance. Thank you Madonna.

This really was one of the best half time shows. Madonna has such a vast discography, she could have put in so many more massive hits but she did it right. This was perfect. Ending with Like A Prayer like that was iconic.
I remember seeing the tour she did right after this -- MDNA-- and when she did Like A Prayer as the 2nd to last song it was so powerful to look around the arena with EVERYONE dancing to one of the most iconic songs of the 80s generation. Imagine that same thing amped up to this stadium!
I often return to watch this. Those in the choir must have been elated to perform at this. One of those incredible I was there moments.

Having the sole 'responsibility' of being the person to 'introduce' *Madonna* (of all people...lol 💗at the *Super Bowl),* ... with that magnitude of cheers & applause when she's revealed) would (in my opinion) be absolutely _thrilling._

@@111laetitia a lot of people dont understand how to appreciate that these two things together are an incredible feat of performance. staying on choreography and mark through the entire performance is a testament to hard work and dedication. so many hate on her because they think she's old and should hang it up but I think she's still at the top of her game and she continues to move the bar. i got choked up watching this because this was a real culmination of so much of her blood sweat and tears. the fact that she was surrounded by so many that you could see she trustd and felt connected to artistically was stunning.
I was there as part of a group sponsored by Firestone brought in just for the halftime show, and it was INCREDIBLE!!! We were across the field at the 30 yd line standing next to a huge speaker, and it was absolutely mind-blowing!!! What an experience!!

sadly her last decade. But 40 years in an industry as fickle as the pop industry is damn good, she struggled to keep going for the last 15 years but she's just about kept it going for 40 which is fantastic. Shame she's kinda damaged her legacy though in recent years but you can bet everyone will remember her as 'one of the greats' again once she's dead, they always do. People should have respect for her now even if she does kinda look crazy these days, she's still the queen to her fans.

Which people were pissed about since it was a school shooting that she knew about. She also was massively late to her concerts, which she made thousands of fans wait up to one and a half hours just to see her. Causing some of her fans to leave because they had to get home, as the concerts already started very late, and her being even later meant people weren’t leaving her shoes until almost 1AM. Then people had to find they’re way home at that time also. And she literally said “Don’t come to my fucking concert if your not happy” which is an asshole thing to say especially being that late and paying a shit ton of money. And a lot of other things.

The cost of the show was 84 million. So she definitely went all out and wanted it to be made to remember. They asked her many times before to perform during halftime but the scheduling did not work out. Some people were comparing her show to U2 and who was better I said I think that's wrong because I said U2 was emotional Madonna was definitely entertaining.

Hard to believe this was 10 years ago! Still my all-time favorite Superbowl halftime show, and not just because it's Madonna. It's genuinely entertaining from start to finish, with not a dull second in between. The costumes, the theatrics, the tight choreography, the seamless transitions, the entrance and exit, everything about it just has a top notch production value that only Madonna has truly mastered.
Gaga's and Queen B performances were way better....

Beyonce and Lady Gaga's respective halftime shows were solid and had some bright moments but Beyonce's felt very much like a rehash of every other performance by Beyonce, and Lady Gaga's just didn't feel as theatrical and came to a grinding halt when she did her typical piano ballad thing in the middle of the show. Madonna did something that was fresh, inventive, and engaging from start to finish, and felt more like a stage production than just a one-off performance at a football game.

Madonna's Superbowl halftime show stands apart from anything she did before or after, and in a very real way it markedly changed the game for Superbowl halftime shows, paving the way for Beyonce's and every subsequent Superbowl performance. That's why every Superbowl halftime show since Madonna's has tried to copy the same formula, even using the same director that she did. But at the end of the day this is largely just my opinion, and you're entitled to your own.

Taking the field like the classic Hollywood Cleopatra, cheerleaders, drum line, top dancers, incredible techno visuals, flawless transitions, current pop stars, dance trends, cherry picked gems from a massive hit list, tasteful costumes, excellent arrangements and choreography. Most just give a mini concert. Madonna gave a Superbowl performance with ALL the trimmings.

This show was so extravagant, so super-produced, that I believe they subsequently enforced limitations to tone the half time show down, as it was just SO much bigger than the football game.

Back in the days when music was played people loved the music from start to end. The screaming was a bit of a nuisance but the idiots usually shut up after a little while and let the audience enjoy the music.
I still remember the excitement surrounding this performance. For days, people were talking about Madonna's halftime show. You can tell that she was having a blast on that stage. I especially love that all of the flash and spectacle leads into a relatively subdued but powerful performance of "Like a Prayer."

In totality, she is a great artist. She writes her songs, designs, choreographs, sings, dances, plays guitar, creates and conceptualizes the style, and performs with original theatrical flair and boundless energy. Yet in person, she is very real and humble. And she’s still writing, recording, and performing. Amazing.
And she gets close to the crowd and doesn't freak out like other female performers!

And those songs are songs which has made pop music history. If she is not a writer than who is? She's a consummate songwriter, a great record producer, a very good singer, and one of the greatest stage performer of all time.
