Best thing about Madonna's live shows are the technical expertise of the MUSICIANS...and the dancers...might as well put anyone else up there as a 'front' person. She tries though...which is the main thing.

I don't do the 'comparison to other artists' thing, as that belittles the gifts of other artists in order to prop up a preferred artist...in your case Madonna. So, Madonna!...not a particularly natural or remarkable dancer, had some dance training like millions of others have across the world, but she worked at it. Not at all a remarkable 'singer', the tone and timbre of Madonna's voice is perpetually depressing, despite her lovely catchy songs over the years, but unfortunately that voice of hers cannot be changed...but again, she worked / tried hard at it. She's of course singing live here but there is also 'playback' in parts, if you notice, say at 3.26, where she's dancing only...but her playback voice continues...she's singing over her playback too. Yes, the reason why Madonna has to come in a 'package' as you say, is because she's a bit of a 'jack of all trades', but certainly not the master of any of them. She has honed her craft over the years, kinda the way she honed her body in this video during this 'True Blue' mid 80s period, ridding herself of that naturally occurring female hormonal body fat. Her 'charisma' is and unfortunately continues to be fundamentally based on pushing the boundaries of female sexual expression in order to 'shock'...like SO many other women (tiresomely) tend to default to.
