Would've loved to see this game come to fruition. The Batbike and including the Nemesis system sounds amazing. Batman Beyond has always been one of my favorite stories throughout all of the DCAU and Bat-lore. One thing I think is always incredibly saddening is that it seems in any Batman story, when he goes away, crime in Gotham continues to spike. To me, it just kinda feels like anything Batman does is never enough for Gotham, but that may also be the point.
I think your final point would have been a main theme in the story. Seeing the state Batman and Gotham are in was probably meant to show how Gotham will likely never get better regardless of how many Batman successors show up

That's the main problem with the story in this game. At the end of Arkham Knight Batman doesn't retire, he just fakes his death, but keeps working in the shadows. So it doesn't make sense that Gotham ends up being a post-apocaliptic city. Also, every city in the world has crime, and they don't end up like that. If robbers and drug dealers want to have a business, the city has to be full of people.
@@fedeu Warping Fist was saying it looked post-apocalyptic, not that it was and it's that crime has been spiked far greater since Batman was gone for all those years and most buildings and streets have been taken by kingpins. drug lords. thugs and gangs and thats pretty much it and you can still do drug deals and trades without people btw like selling them and making them. Batman at the end of the game fakes his death and yeah he worked under the shadows but then it looks like they went with a route where he eventually quits because Night wing, Robin and Jason are around during that time so it makes sense, there isnt any problem with the story of the game, its that you don't like it 😅
@@StillSymbiotic You are right about me don't liking it, but it's mostly because it doesn't make sense to me. I know it's just a speculation based on some leaks and art concepts, but I don't think a city like Gotham (usually described as being inspired originally by Chicago and later New York) so full of people, culture and industries, will fall and end up looking like a post apocaliptic city because some drug lords took over. That stuff happens after wars, or major disasters, not people making illegal businesses. We've seen it in the comics many times and I think that a Batman game can have a good story behind it too. This didn't seem like it for me.
I think the reason why it got cancelled is because of the backlash it got when it was leaked. Boy I bet those people regret it now

@@pizzatime4204 I can kinda see that since some iterations have been really annoying but I don’t think that warrants hating a potential game. Arkham Damien wouldn’t have to be exactly like his counterparts. He can be a cool character in his own right.

WB Montreal likely went with Gotham knights because it was the “safer” choice. I suppose the bat family is more recognizable than Damian Wayne as Batman. This batman game would’ve likely been a huge gamble. One they weren’t willing to take. GK seems to have borrowed many elements from this cancelled Batman game (batcycle) so this is likely the closest we’ll ever get to experiences this unmade Batman game
It’s a shame, I think Gotham Knights looks…fine. Im sure it’ll be good but nothing amazing. I cant help but be underwhelmed by what they’ve showed so far.

@Yung Atz Official they’ll probably bring back Batman in the suicide squad game to help the suicide squad defeat the justice league since Batman has plans for the league’s weaknesses.

I believe WB Games should've continued the Arkham series instead of rebooting it by exploring two different periods in the timeline; the future in a Batman Beyond series with Damian and Arkham Origins 2 and 3 taking place in the 8 year gap before Asylum. Imagine if we got that, two trilogies that further the Arkham continuity and together with Rocksteady's own 3-part series, makes it a 9-Part epic saga like Star Wars' The Skywalker Saga.

You could take the four characters from Gotham knights and age them up.

Yeah it's Damian but a character changes depending on the story and writers, not to mention he's an adult, we haven't been able to thoroughly explore the character of a grown up Damian yet so this game could've been a good opportunity to get some people exposed to a different iteration of Damian as a character and to highlight his potential for character growth
I love the Arkham series and for them to think this was a bad idea sucks. The Batman:Arkham games are still getting attention to this day. A really huge and really good missed opportunity to be released. The only thing we can do is to acknowledge it and make WB know we want it and maybe they’ll do it or not. Gotham Knights is receiving a lot of backlash and WB Montreal should just do what Ubisoft did to Ghost Recon Frontline, cancel the project or at least fix it. Hopefully Gotham Knights doesn’t go bad.
They are close to finishing the game. They aren't cancelling it but sure I wish they fix it

This is very disappointing. The inclusion of the nemesis system, with Arkahm combat/mechanics, etc. Could've made for a very exciting game!
I wonder why WB Montréal didn't turn this into a Batman Beyond game with Terry McGinnis? As he's a much more popular character and this game seems to have been inspiring by his animated series.

Ngl, I don't like the premise of Gotham being in ruins with the lack of Batman because Arkham Knight was already about Bruce getting a succesor to the Batman mantle. So it's weird how it's a post apocalypstic state when Red Hood, Azrael and Tim Drake exist.
Perhaps something happened to those three. If it’s anything like Batman Beyond, they all either died or retired due to circumstances they can’t control

Plus the only reason GK looked a bit “Janky” is two fold, one because it’s was gameplay from an alpha build and two simply because it was running on a PS5 which having owning one and a high end pc I can say the PS5 is vastly underpowered for the resolution it’s aiming for.

Personally I prefer the rest of the Bat Family over Damian. Also, a new continuity brings more room for developers to play. But the concept of their antagonists and especially the Nemesis system looks great.

Welp, now Suicide Squad KtJL is the real sequel to Arkham Knight. This is like a trainwreck.
I’d’ve preferred this waaaayyy over Gotham Knights. That game just overall looks like just another game, nothing special or unique. Kinda deflated me when I saw it.
Would have I of wanted it to be Damien? Potentially, I know he’s slightly more aggressive than Bruce and more hot tempered considering his upbringing on the streets, so would’ve been cool if they played with this. Or if Azrael was the new batman.

Batman Beyond or the revival of this cancelled game. Ghotam Knights and suicide squad, this is a shameful game for kids. We need a new installment in the Batman Arkham series, adult and dark game.
I understand not wanting to use Damian Wayne but they could’ve just used terry and had Damian appear at times, mostly as an ally but possibly fight a bit because he’s mad that you inherited the title. I like Damian but terry is a more interesting character in my opinion. And not alot of people dislike him.

@@darrenh3426 Terry being a clone would almost certainly not be included. Nobody likes that reveal except Bruce Timm since it kind of undermines the whole surrogate family thing that the Bat family represents so well.
The red suit in some artworks resembles some customizations in Injustice 2. And also it seems the helmet had some inspirations in the Bale's suit.
I always wondered what the post cutscene for Arkham Knight would’ve led to, I honestly wish I could’ve seen this over Gotham Knights.

I’ll be honest I don’t mind Damian, but why didn’t they just go with terry McGinnis lol terry to me will always be the true successor of Batman and the real Batman beyond, but not to say I hate Damian tho, in the Batman beyond rebirth storyline, we actually learned that Damian did take up the role of Batman from Bruce, but due to Damian being too violent and blood thirsty Bruce had to stop him and either take up the mantle or stop being Batman, leading Damian to become the new ra Al ghul and terry becoming Batman like in Batman beyond, if wb Montreal was adapting this story for this game where we see the rise and fall of Damian as Batman, good god that would have been such a fantastic start to a new trilogy
In my opinion, Damian would work if it’s legit a sequel to Arkham knight. Damian is much more brutal and violent. He’d inspire fear just as much as Bruce. Terry is a better Batman for sure. But Damian would make a more interesting character to contrast Bruce’s Batman and led to more Bruce drama
@@heythere9707 u have a point, I would love to see a story where we play as Damian being brutal and Bruce has to suit up one more time in the concept art we see to stop him that would be so badass then lead into terry like couple years after Damian lost the suit, but then again we would have to incorporate Damian in some way and idk how, both talia and Ra(depending on the choices of knight) are dead so how could Damian like meet up with Bruce, unless Bruce knew about Damian way before city with talia idk but I would love to see this game, and again I don’t mind Damian he’s a great character but it’s just terry is my boy lol

Man why did this get scrapped for gotham knights.
Regarding black mask: the successor is likely Harley Quinn, not his daughter - hence the bloody hammer and syringe (both callbacks Harley from earlier games.)
That doesn't really make sense, she has zero reason to do that. She also doesn't have a reason to carry on committing crime anymore. I feel like Harley would just disappear and maybe get her life back.

I like this idea, and think this could've been an awesome game had it been tweaked on more and stuff. But a Batman Beyond-esque Arkham Game sounds AWESOME✨
I like the idea that it's 10 years later and both Bruce and villains have changed. I don't like Poison Ivy's successor or something coming back, she never really had one and I think it would've been better to just let her go. However Black Mask's organization being ran by his daughter is actaully a pretty damn good idea! Be a good way to tie Red Hood into the story too. I like how Two-Face is also changed- "The Judge" actually sounds pretty cool and reminiscent of his Arkham City appearance.
Tbh- I like the court of owls being the main antagonist of the game, and all the other villains are just sidequests or something. Damien as a character would've been interesting to see but he needs a pretty good explanation for his absence within the franchise already. Like- both his granddad and mom died. Where was he for all this??
Terry McGinnis would've been an easier one to pick with. Similar to his meeting with Batman in Batman Beyond- maybe he helps a bloodly and half dead Bruce flee a crime scene and he takes a liking to Terry (similar to Carrie Kelly's debut as well).
OOH- and the nemesis system sounds awesome!! I would've loved to see that! I guess it would be like the endless knight ar map from AK where it gets harder the more foes you take out. I love the idea that goons arent all the same now and are actually more of a threat. The Militia could've seriously benefited from this system as they were the ones who were the most capable of stopping The Bat.
All in all I'm really liking the idea of this game and sucks that we arent going to get it. Maybe one day they'll decide to take this gamble but idk hopefully. Thanks for the info✨
the design element of the syringe and hammer of black mask is probably an interpretation of the “carrot and stick”. if you work for black mask, you get the syringe, probably a power-up or a recreational drug; if you’re against her, you get the hammer
plus, all the villains come off as leaders of organized crimes, instead of solo villains like croc, clayface, or mad hatter, and if the nemesis system is implemented, that might mean we could have instigated these gangs to fight one another, or even get them to fight the final boss with us, like in shadow of mordor/war
plus the batbike is kind of a strange inclusion. you could get around fine in arkham knight just gliding (my preferred method) and the batmobile was primarily used for tank battles. what did they have in mind for the batbike? cus i genuinely doubt it was just a mode of transportation. maybe we could use it in battle like jess drew from spider verse? would be sick
but i wouldn’t be surprised to see this game come out half a decade later. wb is a big company and beating a dead horse is part of the business

Though I would’ve loved to see this, I still have hope Gotham knights. I feel similarly to this game as I do towards things like seeing Far From Home. A big comparison, but growing I thought we’d NEVER have stuff like this, ever. So seeing a game with just the bat family, and heavy rumors of Damian Wayne playing a big role in the game too? You have my attention. Hopefully WB Montreal keeps this behind the scenes and maybe turns it into a Batman Beyond game, that would be cool.

I just recently completed arkham knight and I can out of all the arkham series I completed, this was the most satisfying. I really wished they could have released a sequel instead of the gotham knights/suicide squad
The nemesis system probably would have worked almost exactly like shadow of Mordor/war but instead of an army it’s a gang, In those games if a regular thug kills you, they get promoted to captain, so in Arkham game the same would apply. Then the war chiefs (maybe called enforcers) , for example the Talons would fill this for the court of owls. Then the overlord. The overlord would be the leader so like two-face or the penguin. Each gang could control and fight for sections of Gotham and Batman (maybe with the help of the gcpd) would be able to defeat the boss/overlord and take control of the section (example: Black mask is controlling The cauldron, Batman would fight the captains and enforcers, then eventually fight black mask and if he wins he gets the section) but he also needs to defend the section from the criminals, maybe if the game was an apocalyptic Gotham he could fortify the area and bring survivors/civilians to safety there
I barely batted a eye at Arkham knights, but boy I would have been hyped for this game.
I really like that shot of Gotham looking all decrepit. I'm guessing the game would have been called Batman: Arkham Beyond or something.
People would have played the game. Besides it's down to the marketing to make it appealing. Curiosity might have helped boost it as well.
I also wonder if Harley would have moved on from The Joker in that game.
I found some concept art of Harley, and apparently she would have led a "Joker Cult". So no, she definitely wouldn't have moved on.

I like to think this game would have called Batman: Arkham Legacy, because this version of Gotham would have been in the state it's in because of the events of Arkham Asylum, City and Knight

idk I'm personally still interested in Gotham Knights and I'm still gonna play it of course, but I would've preferred this tbh. Getting some proper closure for the end of Arkham Knight would be cool, considering how vague the ending is. I also have a thing for legacy characters and time skips like this. It would be so cool to revisit Gotham City after the 10 years have gone by. Seeing what's changed, what's remained the same, seeing some familiar characters, and getting to see some new faces thrown into the mix as well. I've heard people criticize this game for featuring Damian as this universe's Batman Beyond, but personally I'm fine with that. I actually really like Damian and his potential as a character. Terry is cool and all, and while it would be nice to see him appear in a game like this, I have no real issue with them swapping him out for Damian. That's just my opinion tho, and I could totally see why others would disagree with me on that. It's just such a shame that this got cancelled, it could've really been something special.

An Arkham game with the NEMESIS SYSTEM!? Bro that would've been the best game in the history of videogames. Damian is also cool as hell as a character. What the hell were they thinking!? The Terrence McGinnis story would fit this perfectly. I'm not sure as how Gotham would be portrayed (post-apocalyptic or future-wave, like in Batman Beyond) but the characters and scenario had so much potential, especially his origin story with the Powers conflict

I don't think people would mind seeing Damian Wayne becoming the new Batman, and fighting against the Court Of Owls would make an amazing story to tell. It'll make an incredible journey through Damian carrying his father's mantel and to carry fourth his legacy to protect Gotham City.
This is much better than Gotham Knights,I think that WB Montreal should revive the Damian Wayne Batman game and rework it and they should also make a Sequel to Arkham Origins.

I’m kinda glad this game didn’t pan out. I’d prefer a true Batman beyond game, with Terry in some way becoming Batman. With a more traditional Batman beyond costume.

I probably would have preferred this honestly. Sadly, Gotham Knights holds pretty much zero interest as far as I'm concerned, but how would they have explained the fear toxin Batman at the end of Knight? I didn't collect all those fucking Riddler trophies for nothing dammit! 😠

Now I'm bummed since I am kinda worried about Gotham Knights. I wouldn't have minded having to play the game as Bruce maybe in the prologue or some back and forth between Bruce and Damian through the game showcasing different styles like when you played other characters. You could actually have done a really cool story that builds their relationship in the first one. But Damian wanting to take things too far eventually fractures their relationship beyond repair in the second one, having Damian decide he wants to take over the league instead. Bruce deciding that Batman was a mistake, retires and does another 10 maybe 20-year time skip. So that the final entry in the series would have been Arkham Beyond where you get to play as Terry. I mean I think many fans have been wanting a Cyberpunk/noir Batman game ever since they put the suit in Arkham City. You might have to split it into two parts since it would not make sense that year one Terry could go up against Damian which would feel like the best way to wrap up the Arkham saga.
I wish they kept working on this game instead of Gotham Knights, hopefuly they will get back to working on this game after Gotham Knights is finished, this is much more complex, dark and so different than any other Batman projects (like Batman Beyond is), that is what Batman fans like, Batman fans don't care who is under the cowl as long as it's good
Would be cool to see a Batman Beyond game where Arkham batman is old and makes the Batman beyond suit, then finds Terry McGinnis and trains him and eventually finds out that's his clone.

Personally I think if they did a sequel it would have to take place before Knight or long enough after to where batman would have died of old age already to make the ending stay as ambiguous without saying if he died or not, like with Terry being batman or something

I definitely would have played this game compared to Gotham knights, the mixture of dark knight returns elements and Batman beyond would have been a sell for me. Plus seeing Damien in the Arkham universe would have been interesting

Bo honest: If any of the Justice League had their own games, most of us would pick Arkham.
Flash: Can run super fast by having everything in slow motion.
Arkham Knight: Uses fear to move super fast.
Superman: Beating up aliens, but has to be careful with human criminals.
Batman: Doesn't need to hold back and can break any criminals' body fun.
Green Lanter: Uses his ring to make objects.
Batman: Makes fun interesting gadgets.
Wonder Woman: Brave warrior who goes into battles.
Batman: Can be a f$*ked up man and somehow not kill people when in Predator mode.
Just saying, Batman has interesting Arkham games. You can even listen to people when they're having a sensitive conversation. 😆

The court of owls reminds me of secrety societies such as the masons, DC even included it in a Harley Quinn episode in season 3
