@@WarpingFist I think smaller scope is vastly underappreciated. Assuming that bigger set-pieces and higher stakes make better films leads to stinkers like Battleship, or the Transformers movies. Batman movies started off with the Burton movie's weird, oversized cartoon city and fantasy car, and it just kept getting bigger from there. The Tumbler, cool as it is, was the outside of what made sense for the character. It barely passed as real-world technology. By the time The Dark Knight Rises came out, that prototype copter-thing just felt overscaled for a movie about a crime fighter. But then, the movie itself abandoned the very notion of fighting crime in favor of total social breakdown on the scale of Escape from New York. It left me feeling like Batman was being shoehorned into a story meant for someone more like Superman. That would have been the point they'd have done well to scale the scope back to grounded street crime. But of course, Zack Snyder and the DCEU regime obviously believed bigger is always better. So Zack's Batmobile and Bat Plane would have been more at home in a Star Wars movie. And the stakes bloated up again to planetary, and ultimately, galactic scale. So I applaud the choice to scale back the scope, but honestly, there was nowhere else to go.
@@rottensquid I agree about the smaller scope being under appreciated. Let's take the moment Alfred opened the package with a bomb and the deafening silence or batman trying to solve the riddle with a bomb strapped on that one guy during the funeral. I could feel that tension it left me at the edge of my seat because something like that can happen as opposed to the large scaled CGI battle found on these shared universes like the MCU, transformer or starwars. The stakes in the batman feel more tangible. It's why I love the noir, detective stories of batman. The dark knight is another with Heath Ledger's joker as he gives his "you wanna know how I got these scars?" monologues with his hands on the victim's face. What I've learned is that these large scale battles are largely meaningless the most tension and emotions is found in the more intimate moment. Seven starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman is another great example of a great movie and a ending full of tension as opposed to something like infinity war or endgames battle for the infinity stone it's nothing but overstimulation at this point.

An idea I really think could've worked well in the film is if Riddler had a limp and needed a cane, because I feel they strayed too far from the original character. When he isn't wearing the suit you might see him rely on it a lot and have it as a symbol of the bad hand he'd been dealt, but when he is wearing the suit it becomes a deadly weapon which he uses to brutally beat his victims. That way they could include his famous cane in a realistic way, obviously it wouldn't have to be in the shape of a question mark, I think that would be a bit much.
One cool easter egg about the Batmobile - I was at a visual design conference with Ash Thorp, the designer of the final car, and he showed how the rear of the car forms the bat symbol when viewed from behind. He also said he's not sure even Matt Reeves even noticed it or not lol

This movie grew on me, i had grown fond of bat-fleck and the idea of Deathstroke in a batman movie, i was really hoping would happen, Pattinson as batman suprised me as i didn't have high hopes for him, but he pulled it off, the suit is great but for me personally batmans cowl always looks off the last couple of movies, this film aswell as the Nolan trilogy, i liked what they did with the penguin, his character suits this iteration of batman, i wish Catwoman had a better mask though, one thing i miss from the "cheesy" batman films is how eccentric and overblown the architecture of Gotham was, neon and huge busts of stone faces, the riddler i felt was done justice in this film, i liked how sinister he was, as a villain i could never take him seriously but this movie showed a different side of him, i hope that they bring Mr. Freeze back to the batman films, he is such a tragic villain and the dark and bleak feel of this film could make an interesting version of Mr. Freeze in a sequel. (Hush and Killer Croc I'd love to see in a film too.)
I wanna like deathstroke In a Batman movie but it feel like everyone wants the cyclops and the bat to fight and I just don’t see it. Might as well be bane
The Zodiac Killer was pretty much the real life Riddler... It fits so perfectly! Also I truly believe Penguin was inspired by Al Capone who had a massive scar on his face and was called "Scar Face" by some of the people that knew him.
I'm so glad they went with the prosthetics for The Penguin! Colin was such a delight! Looking forward to his series and how they incorporate Clayface in the sequel
The thing I love most about The Batman is how it blends the grounded reality of the Nolan-verse with the gothic, larger than life feel and abilities from the Snyder-verse Batman.
My one wish for the future of this trilogy is that while the suit will evolve, i hope the cape gets tattered and more torn as his time as the Bat continues.
I'd love to see the guy who did the concept art make a full comic. I've seen a lot of these fantastic artworks, but I never noticed that Batman had the fingerless gloves, That would really add to the street level batman they were going for, but it wouldn't really make sense, since he would just be leaving fingerprints everywhere, but those concept art drawings are my favorite by far. The Noel influenced suit is also up there, it looks closest to the actual suit that was used. If there is another chase scene in the sequel I hope they add the construction site for it.

I'm just glad the live action movie took Batman back to his roots and explored his detective side much more. The Batmobile in this version actually reminds me of the 1943 live action batmobile which was just a 1939 75 Cadillac convertible in addition to how the Green Hornet modified his car. Really makes me wonder how extensive Matt Reeves research went?
I’m not such a big fan of the Batsuit they went with. Way too overdesigned for me, I don’t like the collar. However, the concept in 9:57 is spectacular, much cleaner and visually harmonic, also it looks kind of blue? Which is as comic accurate as it gets. I hope the suit turns into something like that.
Technically the wingsuit is more accurate to bat wings. Yeah the concept art of him gliding is cool but we still get to have him incorporate more practical equipment and still keep some elements of a bat and a man
There a cut of Batman that I read , years ago but I was really like blown away bye how dark and fucking cook the concept was , it was Batman : year zero . A concept by the goat Darren arranofsky and he wanted Clint Eastwood as a old retired Batman dealing with all his finds , and the joker will be play by Willem dafoe , the concept will explore the end of Batman , and the rise of the joker as a supreme leader . The project was rejected due to the facts that was to dark and gory . I will pay a hell of money to say that version
I love the gothic atmosphere in Reeve’s Batman. It reminds me of Tim Burton’s Batman but more realistic. And without Burton’s Batman, we might not have gotten these darker toned movies such as this and the dark knight trilogy
I love the Nolan films but Pattinson is my favorite Batman. Also hopefully Gunn uses an armor with fabric on top. Hopefully blue & grey with the yellow emblem. Shit. Give him the moving Deadpool white eyes. He’s a freaking billionaire. That can be explained with “special contacts” or something. Or Reeves! Do this in the sequel!
This is the weak point in this so cool film: this pathetic incel is not the Riddler. He is another character. The Riddler is far more different : he is lighter, clever, and something grounded because he is clever enough to question himself and his actions more. This guy here is much more like the Scarecrow. This Penguin, for instance, is by far cooler. Catwoman? One of my favourites. A well-rounded character. Great concept.
I think it works as a good origin for Riddler. He's not exactly the Riddler we know yet. He calls himself that because he's inspired by Batman. The true Riddler is born in Arkham after Batman steals his thunder and takes away everything he worked so hard for. His new motivation is exposing Batman and outsmarting him.
Of all the things Battinson's bats were okay except for his mask. His bat logo looks like the ARKHAM logo and I love that but his mask should be changed people should ask Matt Reeves to do that on the next project. Flood it in his Twitter/X and Instagram. Suit is fine. Just the Mask. Please God let them change it. At least Justice League War or Arkham Batman mask would be appreciated with white or red eyes. Man that would be amazing.
The Batman is my personal favorite Batman film I've always loved Matt Reeves films and I've always loved Pattinson as an actor and what they gave us was truly masterful

Technically the wingsuit is more accurate to bat wings. Yeah the concept art of him gliding is cool but we still get to have him incorporate more practical equipment and still keep some elements of a bat and a man
Loved watching the video and love The Barman film. Subscribed.
It's funny that the bat symbol in the final film was 22. The movie was released in 2022.
I think with Gotham being flooded the city will start to look more decayed
I hope we see the batsuit used in Riddler year one in the movies for a dodge challenger as the next batmobile with purple head lights
@@lsabelline An excellent observation. Thank you very much for your kindness. Many blessings!
That mobile should've been somewhat like Arkham Knight. Not exactly but he'll need prisoners to carry to GCPD like AK.
This man deserves more views
Great video!
Everyone tries to say which batman is better, they're all different characters. They have the same name, but they're completely different
Man that would be amazing.
they used penguins old design for rex calabrese in the penguin show
I think it woud be cool if batman puts like mettel plates inside hes cape so he can glide and he can also use hes cape for protection
The Batman is my personal favorite Batman film I've always loved Matt Reeves films and I've always loved Pattinson as an actor and what they gave us was truly masterful
Gotham looks more New York City in some shots.
I want that concept art to hang on my walls😭
