I heard that the reason why Paul Dini didn't write Arkham Knight, was because he wanted to use Scarecrow and Hush as the main villains, and you can tell he was teasing that in the Hush side mission in Arkham City, because if you look around Hush's hideout you can see a few canisters of Scarecrow's fear toxin, and Rocksteady didn't want to do that, sooo we all know how that turned out. Great video btw.
I don’t know what was going on in rocksteady’s head when they thought “Hey, let’s make Deathstrokes boss fight a batmobile fight” DO WHAT THEY DID IN ARKHAM ORIGINS!
The Otaku Dragon Slayer Better than the worlds greatest assassin, debatably, FIGHT BATMAN IN A TANK. I would even be open to a complete copy of Origins fight if it replaced Tankstroke
You know what's really interesting about this games story? When Batman and Robin was being filmed, Warner Bros. we're going to make a sequel, and it was to be called Batman Unchained (or Batman Triumphant, either way it doesn't matter.) The story would've had Scarecrow attacking Gotham City, which triggered the birth of Man-Bat, and Harley Quinn would've appeared, out for revenge for Joker's previous death, only there she would've been Joker's daughter, to retain some continuity. You might think: well, that's a coincidence, with those three villains appearing and having similar motivation to the game's story. But you know what's really interesting? Jack Nicholson was going to comeback, as a Joker CAUSED BY SCARECROW'S HALLUCINATIONS. Isn't that crazy.
DarkHero Gamer My god... it all makes sense now. You've solved the mystery! Arkham Knight is the hidden sequel to Batman and Robin come back from the dead to torment us in game form!
GodzillaMendoza You know what's even better? The end of the movie would have had Scarecrow sending Batman to Arkham Asylum, in a gurney, and he would've faced his demons.
Fuck I was starting to think you were making this up but I just looked it up and every bit is true. What on Earth possessed Sefton Hill to use that as the storyline? Every self respecting Bat-fan knows to pretend Batman and Robin never happened, but he went ahead and made a weird half assed revival of that schlock inside a way better Batman universe. Eugh. That also probably explains why Robin looks so much like Chris O'Donnell in this game.
GodzillaMendoza Apparently, the story would've been darker than BaR. Also, apparently Nicholas Cage would've been Scarecrow, and Courtney Love as Harley. Imagine that. Actually, I thought Robin looked like Eminem. Finally, while I have your attention, (which I seem very good at, somehow,) who's your favorite Robin?
DarkHero Gamer Jason Todd oddly enough. I just feel like he has a little bit more going on than Dick and Tim as a character. And Damien bugs me by being Damien. Rambunctious little rascal.
Agree with most you say but you got one thing wrong. Scarecrows plan was not to use the fear toxin in Gotham. He wanted to infect the entire east coast. He wanted Gotham evacuated so he could make the poison with the least resistance. That part makes sense. How he went about it is another story.
Yeah but that was the Ace Chemicals plan which failed, The Cloudburst only affected Gotham and that makes no sense: 1. He essentialy targeted his own men, ¿what exaclty did he expected to accomplish? 2. The only target that we could care about are the police, which weren't affected or at risk. The plot after Ace, makes no sense.
Also I think the reason Bruce surrendered at the end was because he intended on beginning the knighfall protocol and fake his death to protect the ones he loves and become something bigger than Batman like he mentions to catwoman after beating Riddler. After robin, Gordon, Barbara, knightwing and catwoman got captured he probably felt it was all his fault like Joker kept mentioning.
Also the point about batman giving up is kinda redundant. Yes it’s because rocksteady where done with the series but also his reason for giving up was because his existence as batman has caused a Militia to take over Gotham and is the main reason for most of the villains existing. He realised that for all the good he has done he has also caused a lot of bad and the only way for Gotham to truly prosper in the future is for the legend of the batman to live on as a martyr like figure and be a myth once again
@@nat_is_kinda_dumb4421 yeah...no. even if that was supposed the intent the text if the story does not communicate it at all. We never once get a moment where batman bemoans how he is indirectly responsible for the attack on gotham. That would have been an interesting idea to explore but the developers didnt do that.
What if instead of Joker being the voice in Batman’s head, it was Jason Todd? Isn’t that Batman’s greatest fear, that the people he loves will die around him? Todd can act as the pure manifestation of that fear, leading him to make more and more aggressive decisions, until the vision quest scene where he goads Batman into taking the lethal method. Then Batman snaps out of it, realising that the guilt over Jason’s death is driving him crazy and that he needs to forgive himself.
That… that actually be pretty interesting. I’d be interesting if say, Damian was the Arkham Knight. Bruce now has try to save one son while moving from the death of another.
that's not Batmans 'greatest fear' objectively speaking and since this is Arkham Batman, his fear that is explored in Arkham Knight is about fearing about becoming 'a killer' and it's why Joker acts as a physical manifestation of Batman himself...
WAIT, YOURE ACTUALLY ONTO SOMETHING, ID LOVE FOR THAT TO BE IN THE GAME too bad the original devs of this game left cuz of the abysmal abomination of a company called sweet baby inc took it... and now they have it, A FUCKIN STUDIO CALLED SWEET BABY INC, HAS THE IP TO BATMAN
Injustice 2 is one of my top 10 favorite games, but i do agree. Superman was wayyyyyyyy too out of character in the first game. And Diana was a World Class Bitch.
@@shadowstrike234 hell yeah, I wasn't a fan of wonder woman before the game, but afterwards, I wanted her to die!! I know that sounds over dramatic, but it is true, I hated her that much.
@@shadowstrike234 eh. I thought he was great in injustice 1. That way when the alternate version of superman, the one we all know and love, came in and beat injustice superman, you got to see the parallels.
Oh my god! Imagine if the Arkham Knight hated Batman because the Knight was actually Damien Wayne and he hated Batman because he let Talia die. That would have been cool.
They always said that Batman has so many excellent villains Yet when they wanted introduce a new villain, they didn’t put enough trust that the certain villain will be good enough so they always brought in Joker in some form to save the plot even though it makes no sense.
That's true for a lot of franchises -- they milk the hell out of certain villains, even in new continuities, when they have a whole selection of villains to play with.
I still think the Court of Owls and Talon would’ve been a great main threat with Damien who was raised in secret by Talia, becoming the Arkham Knight when she died to get revenge on Batman for letting her die (I know that was everyone’s original theory), and Damien knowing who Bruce Wayne is hires Hush to go on air and tell the world Bruce Wayne is Batman in order to paint an even bigger target on his back.
Every game had Scarface in some capacity yet we never fight the Ventriloquist. I wish he had a minor role in one of these games. The same can be said about Calendar Man. What a waste to have AK happen on Halloween night yet no sign of Julian Day commiting a crime.
Scarecrow is one of my favorite bat villains and I was exited for a game with him as the main antagonist for game but then he became Hugo Stange 2.0 instead of the mad doctor obsessed with the effects of fear.
I don't necessarily dislike a calm, master planner type characterization for Scarecrow. If nothing else I quite like Crane's demeanor in Knight. The problem for me is what his plan actually is and the logic behind it, or lack thereof. If this exact characterization of Scarecrow was similarly present in Dini's presumed original story using Crane and Hush, it would have probably been a fantastic interpretation imo. And not just because Dini wrote it and that's kind of assured by his involvement.
@@moonmannd7501 I think that type of characterization has it's place but yeah the problem in Knight is that it amounts to little but a re--hash of the Strange dynamic. I assume Dini would have made Hush the cool and collected one while Crane would have been more deranged or more clinical with fear. Going of his characterization of them in his Streets of Gotham comic book.
I like how they adapted the red hood storyline where Jason todd hasn't been introduced and the entire plot revolves around the fact that the joker is alive, which he isn't.
Yep. What really sucks the air out of Jason Todd's mass scale revenge here is the fact that his story in Under the Red Hood was never about killing Bruce but rather lethally outdoing him as a display of spite for the fact that Joker is still alive after what he did.
Jason was hinted at very sparingly in Asylum and City. And although I really like Arkham Knight I don't like how they handled Jason, he should have just been the Red Hood.
Arkham Knight just has too many moments where the characters are robbed of logic for no good reason. For example, in the end of the game when Scarecrow was going to shoot either Robin or Gordon. Why not let Robin take the hit because it isn't like he has Kevlar in his armor or anything right? As you mentioned Bats has lockpicks and stuff in his gloves, why can't he just break out and deck Scarecrow in the non existent schnoz? I hate that the story relies on everyone being absolutely dumb.
Both points you made are shit. Scarecrow can fucking shoot robin IN THE HEAD, why are you assuming he can only be shot in his chest? And do we know this batman has lock picks in his gloves? That seems a little too gimmicky for the arkham series, the dude showed a scene from the animated series as if that has any relation to this game. We havent seen him use lockpicks from his gloves, so why assume that he has them? You're the one devoid of logic, for the sake of shitting on this game.
@@markbergin8821 you do remember that scarecrow had to strap batman to the chair he had the syringe in one hand and a gun in another so batman could just knock him out when he turns the gun away form robin and gordan to strap him in l how he did in the hush side mission no need to be a fucking asshole by the way
Mark Bergin It’s dumb because Robin is a martial artist. How did he even get captured by scarecrow anyways, he is literally just a pile of bones with a syringe hand. Also, how did scarecrow strap batman down into the restraints? Batman with his suit can literally move faster than people see as demonstrated by the fear takedowns. So why did he submit to scarecrow why not just sweep him off his feet?
@@AB-ln6my more outlandish literally make the entire ending make no sense. I don't want it to be realistic of reality I want to be realistic of fucking batman
He was in the Asylum the whole time and Batman didn’t even know it. Even though he has a bat-cave there and goes there every time he needs to lock up one of his villains. Not to mention the place has Arkham guards everywhere, and they still couldn’t find him???
"They made him a whiny teen brat who wears a clunky robot suit, hates his old mentor for no reason and hangs out with a hooded figure with a deformed face" OMG he really is Anakin in Revenge of the sith, I never noticed that lol.
Correction he is a whiny twenty something brat who hates his old mentor for not allowing him to save his mother, and in his mind turning his wife against him and plotting to kill him.
I think Arkham Origins is undeservedly hated. Especially now after Knight has released I remember at the time the biggest criticism I heard for it was "well the game is okay but just wait for Arkham Knight". Now that Arkham Knight was a disappointment I've only really heard people liking Origins.
Honestly, only three criticisms have kept me away from playing it. It borrows too much elements from City, Joker being the the twist main villain and different voice dub. Except that, I think I will give it a chains when it is officially not the worst Arkham game
Nah, City had an amazing story with great character moments between Batman and his villains/allies. Origins had some good moments with Alfred, but other than that, it was just standard.
Yo, just imagined Hush pretending to be revealed live as the Arkham Knight while imitating Bruce Wayne, and the only way to refute him is Bruce revealing himself as the Batman. Would be a good reason to have his identity revealed and still have a similar ending to the actual game, it's kind of interesting to see Batman was unmasked so publicly.
still, Barbara shooting herself in the head is a really specific scenario, while Jason knows he fears for his friends and family, but he can't know what the fear toxin is going to show Batman, also shouldn't Batman be immune to the fear toxin after overcoming like 10 overdoses of that shit in Arkham Asylum?
@@bonelessdewby6401 unfortunately no, they explicitly say it's Joker's blood itself that "Jokerizes" people, even though it doesn't make any fucking sense because in Arkham City his blood is toxic because of Titan, and it didn't turn infected people into the Joker, and it shouldn't even matter because Batman took the cure at the end of Arkham City. this joker illness idea is dogshit and is only there so they can have Joker as the main villain again.
@@ginogatash4030 the real reason why Joker is the fear toxin is simple. The fear toxin triggers Bruce's fear of being Joker because of the blood, making the cure not work for Bruce's mindset. That's why it's a mental battle throughout the game. It can explained
@@Red-Robin2011 clearly it's not just him allucinating, since Robin could see that he was phisically turning Joker-ish like the other infected in the game's batcave, so if Scare Crow's toxin was so strong that it makes Batman think he's turning into the joker, his body shouldn't go through the same mutation the other Jokers did, and Robin wouldn't have any reason to lock him up. But even if Batman was only allucinating his Joker mutation, the others clearly are phisically sick, which is a really stupid idea, the fact that the Joker can be exactly replicated by infecing people with his blood cheapens the character a lot, and it's a stupid concept that should've never made it to the final game (by that I mean the Joker-ized people, Batman's allucinations could've worked in a different context)
In regards to how Bat's is cured at the end of the game here's the reason why. It's stated in game that Scarecrow's toxin has a small amount of radiation in it. And throughout the game Bat's keeps getting hit with more and more of it which is actually purging him of Joker's magic blood until the end when it gets a direct injection of it which, as stated, is the purest form of the toxin. So there Is a reason as to why Bat's was cured at the end of the game. Mind you it's VERY poorly handled and goes completely unexplained in the final mission and does NOT change the fact that Joker has magic blood nor does it make up for that this whole set up is stupid!!!
@@infamousplayer8772 The scarecrow ending makes a lot more sense why batman gave up so easily but like you said… it’s the fact it was so poorly explained that the vast majority of people didn’t realize that’s why he surrendered so easily
@@TriCop Honestly, whenever I played, I went with the fact that Batman was lying on his ass in the van practically knocked out from that little mental battle with Joker, which does sound kind of dumb, but it's what I got from the camera angle, lol. Plus, the man has literally fought through an entire army of soldiers and trained thugs to reach this point, and that's all in one night, where he's also been shot and blown up multiple times (assuming the canon of the game has him only take injuries shown in cutscenes, that's still quite a few injuries). Just the exhaustion was also getting to him. That was my explanation for it all, lol.
The Jason twist was obvious. Not only does the Knight look like Jason’s suit in Battle for the Cowl, but they specifically talked about Red Hood DLC...in a series that HASN’T MENTIONED RED HOOD EVER.
I’ve heard that Red Hood was a poor attempt at hiding the twist by making it seem like Jason being Red Hood already happened in this universe and it was just off-screen like Tim being Robin in Asylum and Dick being Nightwing in City, but I doubt it threw anyone off
5:23 Batman: Before it killed him, Joker sent his infected blood out to all the hospitals in the state. Gordon: I know we tracked it all down Xaiver:ᶠᵘᶜᵏ ʸᵒᵘ Batman: We missed some. 𝘡𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘎𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦 Xaiver:𝐅𝐔𝐂𝐊 𝐘𝐎𝐔! I'm dying xD, I replayed that part like 40 times.
It also hurts because of how much energy they sunk into the visuals. The game looked stunning for something made in 2015 and the predator, combat and grappling evolved so much throughout the series. It's fun to play but painful to watch
I actually liked Arkham Origins, while I prefer Arkham City, Origins had its charms and had some good ideas like the hook shot he has from Deathstroke.
The story was a total mess, but the free roam gave me something I wanted ever since I was a kid, full Gotham City free roam with my favorite suits and Batmobiles, so it still gets a points from me. And yeah Arkham Origins was pretty awesome actually.
Nick Clark Punching people in the face is always fun, and I think if I just ignore the story, then I could totally get into the gameplay aspect of this Batman game. Besides, that one DLC where you do a time trial in the Adam West Batmobile is hilarious.
But it's not full Gotham City. It's Arkham City all over again. Empty streets of a deserted city where only criminals and cops stayed behind. You don't see the status quo of Gotham, the corrupted cops and underworld bosses ruling the city. There's no incentive to actually fight the villains because there's nothing at stake.
The main two villains are so dry, just mouthing the same doomsday threats we've heard ad nauseum in each of the previous games (including Origins) yet they fall for the same pitfalls that each of these previous villains they claim to rise above made. Arkham Knight says, "We know how you think!" yet proceeds to send waves of cannon fodder after him just and even acts surprised when you overcome them like every one of Batman's other villains. Hell, why doesn't he just go hit the Batcave since he knows where it is?
If I remember right, the whole "revealing Batman's identity" thing was more of a last minute spite by scarecrow. After all, Batman is already up like 4-0 against him by foiling his Ace Chemical plan, destroying the Cloudburst, defeating the Arkham Knight, and basically annihilating what was left of the militia at the GCPD. He still had Gordon so he was probably just like "fuck it, I gotta screw over batman somehow".
@@ginogatash4030 I’m still more floored as to why he needed Jason to shoot one of the arm locks on the gurney thing and he just rips his other hand out of it, like couldn’t he have just done it immediately?
If it's a last second thing that makes batman look even more incompetent. Because it means scarecrow had to improvise and his plan should be coming apart at the seams but batman just rolls with it and can't think strategically.
I was one of the ones who defended Origins from DAY ONE. Yeah I didn't like that it copied a lot from City but it also did enough to justify its own existence but not interfere too much with the story that Rocksteady was trying to tell. While everyone was shitting on it back in 2013-16 I stood by it and only NOW are people starting to come around and realize it got too much hate WAY TOO late because I'm sure the devs at the time felt awful that they worked on something that was getting trashed but was good and then they made Gotham Knights which actually deserves to be trashed and I will not defend. That was the most okay game I've ever played. No other word but "mid" can perfectly encapsulate how that game feels to play.
@Spanooki I play Origins every Christmas, honestly probably my favorite one. I'm partial to anything set in Christmas in the snow, and the fact that he gets in fights with GCPD was great.
The sad thing is the _Batman Adventures_ comic had the EXACT same setup! In the comic, the Joker captured Jim Gordon and demands Batman surrenders to him. An hour later, Batman does so Joker has him strapped to a gurney and unmasks him on TV but finds it's just a cop. Batman just went to the GCPD and found an officer of similar height and build to him and had that dude pose as him and leading Bats free to following the guy to Joker's real HQ to save Gordon and capture the bad guy. The cops in the game *WORSHIPS* the ground Batman walks on. Why doesn't he do that in the game? I just can't believe a comic over twenty years old solved the big problem with this game's ending! Seriously, the only redeeming thing about AK is the fantastic voice acting, Joker's return, and Poison Ivy's role in the story. Other than that, this game was a wash for me.
Similarly, in the "The Batman" TV show, somewhere in the first season, there comes a point when a couple cops on the GCPD suddenly start getting suspicious and start to catch onto the idea that Bruce Wayne might be Batman at the tail end of some incident with... I think The Penguin was launching an assault on Wayne Manor or something. Anyway, Detective Yin confronts Bruce and says something along the lines of "Funny how you and Batman never showed up at the same time." Then, as if right on cue, Ethan, the other cop, points up to the top of Wayne Manor, where they see "Batman" dart away into the shadows from the rooftops. About a minute later, it's revealed to the audience that it was just Alfred doing a last-minute red herring trick to trip up the cops' suspicion. He was even wearing the suit backwards.
18:15 Oh my God this is exactly what I was talking about. Why the hell didn't Batman just easily kick Crane's ass instead of letting him strap him to a gurney
I can't believe I never noticed this 😂 Just imagine Scarecrow opening the Van, Batman calmly getting out, looks Scarecrow in the eye pushes the skinny little twig over and kicks his teeth in bwhahahaha
I know this is an old comment, but Batman let himself get caught by Scarecrow so he could confront the Joker in his mind and because he wanted to save Jim and Tim
I find it strange how while Batman is in the van at the end of the game, Alfred refers to Jason following Batman. So that just implies that instead of doming Scarecrow in the back of the head, Jason just sat there and watched Batman get tied up and unmasked on live television
@@charlesmeniru5082 I'm thinking he didn't arrive yet OR he still had some animosity and wanted him to be humiliated and unmasked but not actually KILLED. Even though he broke away from the deal he and Scarecrow had, the entire time Scarecrow kept saying "you can do what you want but he'll suffer first" so perhaps Jason came around to that thought and let Bruce suffer a little if he wasn't going to die (of course because Jason saved him). I'm just speculating here and I'm not defending the game's logic; I understand it has its flaws but at the same time this was definitely my favorite one and has a special place in my heart. I can understand people's complaints with it and I specifically watched this video to further understand because me personally, I was along for whatever ride Rocksteady took us on with that game and just let them spoon-feed it to me and somehow I was just always okay with everything they did. Something tells me, too, that they didn't end it because they were lazy but because they wanted to quit while they were ahead and go out with a bang because you end up making too many sequels and series start to become shitty. (Of course in many people's opinions it already became shitty because Arkham Knight was bad but like I said, I think it was a fantastic conclusion overall. I'm not saying it's PERFECT and without flaws; but I was very satisfied)
@@Spanooki guy kidnapped Gordan and Oracle forgive him, logic would be Batman breaks free and tricks Scarecrow when Nightwing takes Crow down, Jason runs off as Oracle runs after him with Robin and Azrael kills Scarecrow but dies with him
They had me at "Yesterday there were 6.3 million people in the city. Today, not so many." So they evacuated 6 million people in under 24 hours? That makes about as much sense as Superman and The Flash being a part of this universe and them not getting over to Gotham as soon as Scarecrow made the threat.
@@markbergin8821 it's one thing to have ludicrous stories about crime-fighting super-powered freaks with gadgets and whatnot, somehow evacuating millions of people in a day with a bunch of boats just so Batman can have a good joy ride through Gotham without worrying about the infrastructure and citizens is another one.
can agree more with this part. When he was hauled away in the truck, alfred said something like "you're being tracked" and batman says "I know he would". if that isn't a setup for nightwing to swoop in and act as a distraction for batman to overpower scarecrow, then what is?
This is a minor nitpick but I would have loved to see new villains get the spotlight instead of all the same ones from the previous games. The only new villains we got were Man Bat and Professor Pyg which were both disappointing in their own way (there was also Deacon Backfire but who cares about him?) I would have loved to see villains that were hinted at in previous games like Ventriloquist or Ratcatcher. Maybe reskin some of the missions to use different villains. Change the Riddler stuff and make it about Clue Master or replace Firefly with Killer Moth. I've already seen Two-Face, Harley Quinn and Scarecrow in these games. I'd love to see something new which is what I thought the Arkham Knight would be. Instead we just got a lamer version or Red Hood. Also I don't know why they made out Azreal and Hush out to be so important to future events in Arkham City (and if you know Batman lore you know that either could have made their own game) and instead relegate them to boring side missions.
Well you answered your own question there. They're not as interesting. That sais I felt the same way, lets get rid of the joker and do something new. I get in the films you almost have to have the joker, but in the games they have way more freedom to explore other avenues.
Dr. Madd Yup! Arkham Knight should of been PROMETHEUS. i guess WB dosent believe alot of the people playing these games know or read about the comics they come from. p.s I hate CW PROMETHEUS lol
I'd love to see Magpie and Flamingo as boss fights. Both have distinctive looks plus have real unique moves. Flamingo is a weapons man with whips, knives, pistols, and swords while Magpie is Catwoman with super strength and wolverine claws. I can totally see how to make interesting boss fights out of both of them and I'm not even a game designer.
I think this might be my favorite review of arkham knight ever cuz as a hard core batman fan even though I enjoy it I can't help but agree with everything that's stupid about the game! I hope the next batman game alone with the telltale game will be much better, I honestly would love to have a arkham origins sequel.
If they changed the Arkham Knight to the Red Hood, and have the Militia be named the Arkham Knight's, or Batman being given the title, the game really wouldn't have changed. Honestly, the mystery might have even been the same, except there wouldn't be a shred of doubt.
Cant we just have a game without the Joker around? Every other villain can be very interesting if you go deeper into them and make them work. Arkham Origin have the potential to be a good batman games without the Joker around but they ruined it at the last minutes. Rocksteady should have tried to keep Paul Dini around since I am sure whatever he had planned for Knight would have been awsome and wouldn't disappoint us. But no, it had to be Joker again and the predictable story that is the Red Hood again. Now, it would be fine if they had go a different route with it and do something completely different. I dont know who is behind the story but they sure screwed it up very bad.
Here’s a better arkham knight idea: Azrael has come to set fire to Gotham and kill batman and take his place in the chaos, no arkham knight but instead Jason Todd is a side mission with the league of assasins. Scarecrow should be a part of it to make the joker a hallucination. (Not a fucking bio hazard like in the game) in the end it’s a 2 stage boss battle with azrael and the the first stage is combat. The second stage is stealth. The fucking end. This isn’t hard rocksteady
They could have gone all out in this one with hallucinations. I had some serious expectations when they revealed Scarecrow as the main villain of this game.
I still don't get why Scarecrow didn't go after Croc either. The guy mauled and nearly ate him. But Crane just blamed Batman even though Batman threw a Batarang at Croc's shock collar to get him to let Scarecrow go.
I still don’t think anything’s topped those Scarecrow hallucinations in Asylum, I think only Mad Hatter’s mission in City came even remotely close but I say that because it warped perspective.
I think you missed something. The Ace Chemicals plan was to cover the entire east US, not just the city. Then when that fell apart they fell back on the Cloudburst to just blanket the city.
I still can't believe Rocksteady thought they could get away with making Jason Todd the Arkham Knight and think nobody would notice. It was so incredibly obvious it was Todd from his first cutscene. This game should have just focused on Scarecrow since that is what the game's climax ends up focusing on anyway. Having a recycled Red Hood villain and imaginary Joker minimize his role in that game is a main reason why Arkham Knight was such a disappointment.
Oh I ain't saying his videos aren't awesome or very-well edited. Tbh most of his work is far better than most content creators even try to achieve. His jokes and overall analysis of the whole game as a whole is spot-on and I've been a fan since the Spider-Man Restrospective videos, I was just joking about the time he takes to do them (which is totally worth it if you ask me) to usually create such awesome vids. The dude's older than me by a couple of months and tbh I'm simply amazed as to why he doesn't have 100k+ subscribers, but that's just me.
You know this game in terms of story, is like if you mixed Batman: Under the Red Hood with Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, and removed all of the cool, innovative, and peak storytelling parts of those movies/stories and made them dumb and convoluted for no reason
Arkham Knight story should be scrapped as Batman waking up in Wayne Manor and fighting Deathstroke and winning. If Bruce is unmasked and killed, how did he save the family in the final scene and how did he die again in Suicide Squad game
Scarecrow's design and performance in Knight was amazing, perfectly terrifying. Shame they didn't give him much motivation or character. Crane has never really been given much depth, not even in the animated series. It shouldn't be that difficult.
His design is alright but I prefer the one from asylum. Plus his new voice combined with the fact that he is constantly taunting you over loudspeakers or video just makes him feel liks hugo strange from arkham city more than scarecrow.
@@galactic85He's SO MUCH better in Asylum. I was so excited to see that Scarecrow as the main villain in Knight and then they just turned him into the biggest bore of Gotham City.
Finally someone who echoes my feelings about this game perfectly. I'm already pretty angry when the only way a writer can come up with for the story to advance is to make the protagonist an idiot, but this happening to Batman of all people is even worse.
Nothing wrong with enjoying the game (I especially dig the Joker scene myself). I just didn't like the direction they took, or the tank battles. Or the character development.
What’s funny is the new kill the justice league game takes place in this universe. Where tf was Superman when Hugo strange tried murdering a hundred thousand convicts in Arkham city
I personally thought the voice acting was good for the most part (Still respect your opinion though.) Some of the line delivery was off at times particularly with the aforementioned Oracle example and when Gordon says “You b***ard”. when Scarecrow shoots Robin. It’s a shame because Jonathan Banks is normally a good actor.
I think its cuz batmans keeping the secret that hes infected from the player. He seems off before the ace chemicals part and then after that it all goes to shit
@Matt Mercer's Stunt Double Interesting you mention Arkham City. There were some folks who found him flat in that. With Arkham Knight it was inconsistent but some of the lines were a bit iffy too. Like, "I'm going to show the Arkham Knight just what happens when he MESSES with my city." doesn't sound like a line Batman would say.
BK Vids sure Origins is not the best but it’s a lot better than Arkham Knight imo.And seriously dude why arguing him for liking origins it’s just his personal favorite don’t bash him for it because it’s just wrong. But then again fanboys are salty so what’s the point of telling you of what’s right and wrong it’s pointless.
I rewatched the Under the red hood film (best batman film imo) Bruce quickly suspects the red hood is Jason based on his training and knows it's him around half way through Meanwhile, in Arkham Knight Bruce never figures out the knight is Jason and has to be told, it seems kind of disrespectful to the audience's intelligence honestly
@@Victor-qx3vxI had an open mind that the game could have been Jason Todd or Damian Wayne. Arkham Knight’s first dialogue exchange with Batman at the chemical plant was a dead giveaway that it was Jason and heard somewhere even prequel comics had obvious clues.
Yes because it's a natural conclusion to assume the criminal is a dead person back from the grave. Look that's always been the dumbest part of the film for me like like yeah similar training but to assume Red Hood was Jason because he cut a rope was just silly. The comics at least had a better explanation as to why he could've thought it was him.
Here's what my (very rough and amateur) take on Arkham Knight could have been: As another user mentioned, Hush was going to be another main villain so I'm using that. Croc's assault on Scarecrow damaged both his body and mind, coming that close to death ain't pretty after all, so he has this insane revenge plot to kill Croc, who's doing his thing at the moment, plotting for his Season Of Infamy mission. While this happens, Hush has been on an end-goal of usurping Bruce Wayne to take over Wayne Enterprises, because, why not. Meanwhile, after the heart-breaking loss of Talia in Arkham City, the theme of, well, loss, comes in again, with Batman repeatedly flashbacking to memories of his greatest failure; Jason Todd. This actually means something btw. Anyways, Hush gets together some goon fodder to keep Batman distracted whilst he executes his grand plot. Meanwhile, Scarecrow is planning to pump Fear Toxin into the sewers, but this would be horrible because it could just fade out and enter the city, so the "Blanket Of Fear" comes into play again. Also you can play as Catwoman, Nightwing, AND Robin as they assist Bruce in what could be Gotham's Last Night. Hey, remember Jason? Well, turns out, after getting killed in an ABANDONED WAREHOUSE WITH NO OBVIOUS HINTS THAT HE WAS THERE THE ENTIRE TIME, his body was recovered by Ra's Al Ghul, who revived him and trained him, perhaps thinking he would be a perfect successor; he has every reason to despise criminal scum, after all. And this leads to him using the Red Hood persona, taking inspiration from the Joker's old identity in some morbid sense of vengeance. However, everyone thinks Batman killed the Joker! Not Jason though, he doubts that Batman would have done Joker in, but at the same time, can't help but at least think it's possible, so his whole deal is assisting Batman from the shadows as Red Hood, brutally disposing of Hush's crew. This gets Batman's attention and makes Jason important to the story, kicking off the last storyline of the game. Joker! Again! Yeah, sorry, I actually really enjoy the Hallucination Joker segments so I'm shoving him in. Batman and Robin track down Scarecrow's base of operations before he can pump the sewers with Fear Gas, and the trio starts brawling. In an attempt to escape, Scarecrow injects Batman with the Toxin to catch him off guard. He flees, Robin remaining behind to check on Batman, who starts hallucinating Joker, leading into a fake fight that leaves Robin concerned for his mental health. They leave Scarecrow's base and Robin tells Nightwing and Catwoman about Scarecrow's plot, as well as what happened with Batman, who convinces them that Gotham being at stake is more important, reassuring them that he'll be looking for a cure in the meantime. This essentially makes the trio of Sidekicks the most involved with the story, Catwoman and Robin going after Scarecrow, and Nightwing taking on Hush's crew. Things seem to be going smoothly, right? Bruce is looking for a cure and his allies have it all covered. NOPE! Nightwing comes across one of Hush's groups dead, the only calling card being a note cryptically stating "I Was Never Gone". Red Hood finally matters, Nightwing alerting Bruce, who immediately puts off his search for a cure, Nightwing taking it on instead, to go track down the mysterious murderer. After encountering more dead men, the same note being left behind, Batman deducts that this figure, dubbed "The Red Hood" by witnesses, is someone he must have known before, so his reputation as a detective finally means something! He starts interrogating crooks who somehow survived their encounters, as well as investigating leftover evidence to see what kind of gear this guy had. BOOM, first face-to-face encounter! He comes across the Red Hood in action, watching him easily take down a group of goons before attempting to gun them all down. Batman stops him, and instead of taking him on, the hooded killer flees, chase ensuing. Batman uses every trick up his sleeves to stop Red Hood, only to be flawlessly countered every time. Red Hood escapes, leaving Batman completely stumped as to what just happened, heading back to the Batcave. During this encounter, Catwoman and Robin, who were updated on the whole deal, are looking for Croc, trying to warn him about Scarecrow, only to find out that his Season Of Infamy deal is going down. Season Of Infamy mission ensues, Catwoman replacing Batman, and the duo manage to subdue Croc long enough to tell him about what's going on with Scarecrow. Croc isn't worried, nor cares, forcing the two to fight him and knock him out. Scarecrow, who was following them the whole time, shows up and announces that he's rigged the sewers to be pumped with Fear Gas, aware of what it'd do to Gotham. He states that he WILL set it off, unless they hand Croc over. Regardless of what Croc did, Tim, in good conscious, can't just drop a man to death's door. Scarecrow gases him and Catwoman with fear gas, fear segment ensuing. When it wears off, they find that Croc has just been kidnapped, and Scarecrow, petty, is going to set off the Toxin anyways since they didn't hand over Croc. The two go to Batman with this information, who's more stressed than ever, but has a duty to protect Gotham. Batman heads out once more, trying to stop Red Hood before he can kill anymore crooks, tracking him down to Ace Chemicals. Red Hood monologues about how he's surprised Batman hasn't done any of this already, seeing as he "killed" Joker. This leads to the oh so great revelation that he DIDN'T kill a man! Red Hood, in blind anger, attacks Batman, who pins him down and demands to know his identity. Red Hood retorts with the idea that Batman already knows, and just won't admit it. This gets Batman to back off, uttering one name; "Jason", cue the Joker showing up and laughing at this loser of a detective. Boss Fight commences, Jason using more aggressive variants of Batman's moves, along with gun-fire, and even some copy-paste moves from the Ra's fight, before escaping Ace Chemicals. Batman, under more pressure than ever before, reunites with his allies, and they tell him what they've been doing during his encounter with Jason. Due to Nightwing still trying to find/manufacture a cure, Robin and Catwoman split up, Robin going after Scarecrow still, and Catwoman now looking for Hush. Robin tracks down Scarecrow to, surprise surprise, the same warehouse Jason died in because pointless and irrelevant callback. He's torturing Croc, abusing his regenerative abilities out of spite, before getting engaged by Robin, Fear Fight commencing, Tim fighting a mirror version of himself, ashamed that he replaced Jason after his apparent death, his great fear being not a good enough Robin. The fight ends with Tim literally beating his fear, taking Scarecrow, and Croc, into custody. So ends Scarecrow's plot, right? WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL- Catwoman finally fucking finds Hush, who looks like- *gasp* BRUCE WAYNE? Hush sends his goons to distract Catwoman, before threatening her with a very particular detonator. He has the tool of island-wide destruction in the palm of his hand, stating that if he can't have Gotham (despite Wayne Enterprises not even owning Gotham), no one can. He detonates the Toxin, flooding the sewers, and then the city, with the gas. This causes all of Gotham to riot, leaving only the team of heroes, Red Hood, and Hush, to traverse Gotham sanely. How? Because Batman is fucking Batman and has gas masks, Red Hood has a god damn helmet, and Hush planned for this shit, also having a gas mask. WE'RE IN THE ENDGAME NOW- oh wait Marvel. WE'RE IN THE FINAL ACT NOW. Nightwing has finished the cure, successfully curing Bruce of his Joker Syndrome. Robin had to escape GCPD after the Toxin hit it, but is fine. Catwoman regroups with the other three shortly after. Red Hood is still very much pissed from the reveal that Bruce didn't have the balls to kill Joker, so he decides to "Save The Day" himself, gunning for Hush. This kicks everything into higher gear, Batman desperate to save his former apprentice, if that's even possible now. Hush makes his last stand in Crime Alley of all places, but uh, gets taken care of and nearly killed before the gang arrives to beat up Jason! Cue the not one, not two, not THREE, but FOUR-WAY FINAL BOSS! Robin kicks it off, utilizing his defensive and counter-measures to get Jason out of the alley, as he's trying to legit kill Robin out of spite, Selina chases him down, using her rope to trip him and pound on him every so often while he shoots at her, and then kicks him onto the streets, where Dick shows up and has the most drawn out segment of the entire fight, having to use the environment and his freaking shock sticks to get Jason worn down long enough for Batman to come in. Naturally, this ends the fight, a Deathstroke-esqe segment taking place before Batman shatters The Red Hood's helmet, Jason now defeated. What happens next? Jason wasn't taken in to the police, instead sort of being on a leash. He's still an Anti-Hero, but can't kill anymore. He and Tim managed to make up, and they aren't friends but do have each others' back. Selina still does her usual thievery, teaming up with the others whenever needed. Nightwing went back to Bludhaven, back to his dose of vigilantism, and Batman? Batman is Batman, Gotham's Knight In The Shadows, the Dark Figure, the Embodiment Of Fear, yet Heroism. So, the story ends.....for now.
That was honestly a great read and would have made a much better game, although I'd switch Robin and Nightwing when it comes to the cure thing cause Tim Drake's the smarter of the two. Also it would have been an ironic callback to have had Croc break free at the end of the Croc-Scarecrow warehouse segment and grab Scarecrow and drag him back into the sewers(where he presumably dies for real this time at Crocs hands)as a callback to Asylum. Heck maybe the scarecrow warehouse sequence could take place at Arkham Asylum instead.
You're like the Ralphthemoviemaker of Video games! Love all your stuff. Could not agree with you more on this one, Arkham Knight was incredibly disappointing for every reason you mentioned.. I never played Origins, but I'm gunna go buy it now..
Playing Arkham Asylum made me appreciate a Batman geared more towards mature audiences. It was grounded, focused & never felt like it was pandering or throwing random events together for no reason. There were legitimate stakes, but the threat wasn't immediate because the villains were isolated on Arkham island, which buys Batman time to stop them Playing Arkham Knight made me appreciate a Batman geared toward a younger audience. Batman in the 60's & 70's never talked about "the end" or blew himself up as a cover story. The villains could have hair-brained schemes & they still weren't as confusing as this (plus it was light-hearted, so nobody took it so seriously) Edited for spelling/grammar
At least with '66 Batman, the villains' schemes being completely absurd and idiotic was done because it was written on purpose to be funny and completely bonkers. Whereas Arkham Knight is like the Dark Knight Rises of the Arkham Games, where it very clearly wants you to take it seriously and think "MAN, THIS IS THE END FOR BATMAN. HOW DOES IT ALL COME DOWN?" but the plot is so bad and the villains plans are so stupid, you couldn't really give a fuck less.
It's ironic you should say that Arkham Knight was more childish because it was the first one in the series to be rated M. I understand what you mean in terms of the plots and all; but it is funny because it's arguably the darkest and most violent.
This game had so much potential it would’ve been on par with The Witcher 3 if it was delayed and they actually put more heart and time and thought into it.
The game did a poor job of explaining this but Batman and the 4 infected were the _only_ ones to receive a transfusion the rest were tracked down. And the cure for Arkham City only cures the Titan infection, little did they know the blood by itself had the chemicals that turned Joker into what he is in it. How that makes them act *exactly* like joker to the point they are literally becoming him makes no sense.
What about the call to Robin in Arkham City where Robin says that it’s chaos at Gotham General, basically implying that it is chaos because of Joker’s blood. I get that this is late but I’m just curious. Not trying to be a smartass either.
Nope. I still don’t like the “Joker disease plot” and the way they wrote Batman, Jason and the Scarecrow. No apology from me. If you like I guess I could thank AK for killing my enthusiasm for this franchise. In a way, it doing so protected me from the SS game.
arkham knight's story reminds me alot about spiderman 3's story. It tries to shove so many villans into its plot with their own little story arcs that at the end of the day, the overall story ends up being a mess.
At least with Arkham Origins, you still got to fight all the assassin's it promised (save for one that was more for a gag and a couple were pushed to being side quests) and even if it had Joker as the main foil again, it does remember it's their first encounter ever and properly ties it into the plot.
I played the First Telltale game. Its characters and story where much better portrayed than this. Bruce’s story is amazing and the balance of choosing to do things as Batman and Bruce is very well done.
@@robertcastorena5064 well that’s good. Most don’t, and just say some generic insults; or they don’t do they’re research on a topic, game, book, or whatever media they enjoy.
What pisses me off the most about this game is that it completely ruined Arkham City. Are they saying Joker and Batman weren’t infected by a deadly virus caused by the Titan formula? If so, then why are these nameless nobodies turning into Joker instead? It’s a question that I’ve been asking myself for years, and I’m surprised that so many people seem to overlook this.
its joker's blood. Joker talked about sending his blood to a few hospitals remember? And the only reason why batman got the virus was because joker put his infected blood into batman. All this info can literally be found in the cutscene where joker poisons batman with his blood
if you are wondering why batman isnt already infected by the titan formula. Remember than in arkham asylum he used the cure on himself, while joker did not get the cure. Well until he got desperate during arkham city.
hey batman said that the infection was Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease but mutated beyond anything on medical records. Causing those few people to turn into jokers
Besides the graphical fidelity, lack of innovation, and the Joker twist, Origins still manages to be my favorite of the Arkham series. At least Bruce has an arc, and isn’t either a perpetual machine of stoicism and/or a moron.
But it is an arc. He goes through a change, something that doesn’t exactly happen in the other games. Not that they necessarily needed to have that, it’s just nice that this game does. Also we’re not clued in to how Bane knows Bruce’s secret. The biggest hint is him using two recordings of Bruce saying something similar as both Bruce and Batman at different times. If it was that, that’s not really that big of a slip-up. If it isn’t, it’s just there to taunt Bruce and get the idea that he knows his secret. Plus it’s Bane. He’s built up as one of Bruce’s smartest enemies. The situation is more about showing how clever and dangerous he is rather than showing how dumb Bruce is.
in regards to the plot, you got a few things wrong there Scarecrow had the city evacuated so he can have access to ACE without being disrupted, there he can make a gas bomb big enough to coat the entire east coast of america in gas, evacuating Gotham would do nothing, this is explicetly said by the characters And as for his backup plan, coating the city in toxin and making it so no one could return still means that batman would have failed, and he would have gotten his petty revenge
*FIIIIINALLY* someone who agrees with me about the shit ending, I already didn't like the game up to this point but that ending absolutely ruined it beyond repair for me
Frankly Joker's best plan was in Origins. It made sense. He knew Batman was his biggest threat and saw using 8 assassins as the best way to get rid of him in addition to getting rid of Black Mask. His plan in Asylum seemed ridiculous. I also didn't care for his inclusion in Arkham Knight. I'd have been behind Hush in the last game and if not him then Talia having gone crazy.
I personally think Arkham Knight makes me “feel like Batman” the most. It used the cutscenes, camera, combat and more to make the player in control, like how Batman sees the flashbacks, it is all in game, not a cutscene. When you take villains into GCPD, it shows you get out, walk around the car, and take them out and put them in jail. Stupid story, great gameplay and immersion
I always loved the fact that you could actually see the GCPD fill up with villains as you brought them in. Granted it makes no sense to put them all in the same cell, but as you said it added a sense of immersion and progression to the game
I always thought the Joker blood thing was so stupid. The Batman Who Laughs does the same thing. Fear toxin alone was a good enough reason to have Joker in his head
The batman acting like its the last night thing is sort of a design flaw in a way in that its techically intended to be seen after defeating scarecrow( and thus his identity being exposed) but players can play those side missions before scarecrow and the dialogue doesnt change unfortunatly
Even though Rocksteady was basically screaming that they wanted it to end, and there are rumors that WB Montreal are going to make another prequel or sequel. I wish they would let the series die and start with a clean slate, give us something fresh. Don't COD this series
All Batman's hallucinations feel like contrived plot devices. If Scarecrow has the power to implant such specific hallucinations, he's be the most OP villain in whatever world this story's set in. Either that or you have to accept that Joker's blood is literally magic and it causes a bunch of unexplained side effects, yet it managed to stay dormant for 8 years.
The hallucinations are actually very specific to a person, but scarecrow can't pick it what it is since, in theory, it is based on a person's worst fears
Bricks_Ahoy ughhh that would be amazing... I wish that happened

Fuck
I was starting to think you were making this up but I just looked it up and every bit is true.
Yeah but that was the Ace Chemicals plan which failed, The Cloudburst only affected Gotham and that makes no sense:
1. He essentialy targeted his own men, ¿what exaclty did he expected to accomplish?
2. The only target that we could care about are the police, which weren't affected or at risk.
The plot after Ace, makes no sense.
Mon eh limmy
Good idea, but just like red hood in general it needed setup in at least city
Damn, that's a cool concept
that's not Batmans 'greatest fear' objectively speaking and since this is Arkham Batman, his fear that is explored in Arkham Knight is about fearing about becoming 'a killer' and it's why Joker acts as a physical manifestation of Batman himself...

They always said that Batman has so many excellent villains
Yet when they wanted introduce a new villain, they didn’t put enough trust that the certain villain will be good enough so they always brought in Joker in some form to save the plot even though it makes no sense.
I like all of Batman's villians
This. Even the voice throws me off, if that isn’t the same voice actor for Hugo strange then it’s just a terrible casting.

He's not in Spider-Man PS4
I like how they adapted the red hood storyline where Jason todd hasn't been introduced and the entire plot revolves around the fact that the joker is alive, which he isn't.
Yep. What really sucks the air out of Jason Todd's mass scale revenge here is the fact that his story in Under the Red Hood was never about killing Bruce but rather lethally outdoing him as a display of spite for the fact that Joker is still alive after what he did.
Jason’s motivation is so lame in AK

I think Arkham Origins is undeservedly hated. Especially now after Knight has released
I remember at the time the biggest criticism I heard for it was "well the game is okay but just wait for Arkham Knight".
DeadYorick beyond the joker reveals, it was bugged as hell at release
And Arkham City ran on GFWL and Arkham Knight was even worse. At least Origins was fixed.
DeadYorick origins was my favorite besides city
Nah, City had an amazing story with great character moments between Batman and his villains/allies. Origins had some good moments with Alfred, but other than that, it was just standard.
The Arkham knight should have been Hush,
Yo, just imagined Hush pretending to be revealed live as the Arkham Knight while imitating Bruce Wayne, and the only way to refute him is Bruce revealing himself as the Batman.
Would be a good reason to have his identity revealed and still have a similar ending to the actual game, it's kind of interesting to see Batman was unmasked so publicly.
@@StickNik i like your idea
Sharky McShark personally I think Dr. Jeremiah Arkham should have been the Knight.

Scarecrow knew Batman's fears because the Arkham Knight told him. It was at least mentioned in one of the tapes in the Arkham Knight's bio.
still, Barbara shooting herself in the head is a really specific scenario, while Jason knows he fears for his friends and family, but he can't know what the fear toxin is going to show Batman, also shouldn't Batman be immune to the fear toxin after overcoming like 10 overdoses of that shit in Arkham Asylum?
Gino Gatash could be the reason why he manifested joker into his personality instead of it making him go bat-shit crazy
Omfg that actually makes a lot of sense!!! You my friend have saved me hours of sleep at night
The fact that you had to explain that and come to that conclusion yourself makes the whole plot somehow even worse.

Nick Clark Dude I completely agree
Nick Clark wish there was a batcave though
Nick Clark Punching people in the face is always fun, and I think if I just ignore the story, then I could totally get into the gameplay aspect of this Batman game. Besides, that one DLC where you do a time trial in the Adam West Batmobile is hilarious.
It was not the full Gotham
It becomes jarring seeing as Bane literally goes to the Batcave himself and wrecks it. And that's right after finding out Batman's identity.

Tim Drake Robin Arkham Knight has the most maybe. But to add them all up, its like 90 or something. Or even more.

To be fair though Arkham Origins was one of the best explorations of the relationship between Bats and the Joker to date
Also perfectly demonstrated his psyche in a few minutes.
There was another time too, when he puts Harvey in the suit, and he puts make up on himself. THEY DID THIS TWICE

Or Jason hadn’t arrived there yet?
@@charlesmeniru5082 I'm thinking he didn't arrive yet OR he still had some animosity and wanted him to be humiliated and unmasked but not actually KILLED. The only new villains we got were Man Bat and Professor Pyg which were both disappointing in their own way (there was also Deacon Backfire but who cares about him?)
I would have loved to see villains that were hinted at in previous games like Ventriloquist or Ratcatcher.

It was supposed to be Scarecrow and Hush but then Paul Dini left.
Here’s a better arkham knight idea:
Azrael has come to set fire to Gotham and kill batman and take his place in the chaos, no arkham knight but instead Jason Todd is a side mission with the league of assasins. Scarecrow should be a part of it to make the joker a hallucination. (Not a fucking bio hazard like in the game) in the end it’s a 2 stage boss battle with azrael and the the first stage is combat. The second stage is stealth. The fucking end. This isn’t hard rocksteady

Here's what my (very rough and amateur) take on Arkham Knight could have been:
As another user mentioned, Hush was going to be another main villain so I'm using that.
WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL-
Catwoman finally fucking finds Hush, who looks like- *gasp* BRUCE WAYNE?
So, the story ends.....for now.
that honestly sounds really fun, well done. I'd definitely play that, given the chance
Honestly, one of the greatest comments I've ever read. Loved it! Fun story too!
I would've played your verison of this game in a heartbeat, this is so good!
My goodness, why couldn’t we get this story
The Telltale Series did original villains and stories better
The voice acting was good. Two Face had a great voice!
I didn’t really like the penguin’s origin in that
@Trevor Anthony TF are you talking about? The voices are great.
I don't like telltale. They make """interactive movies""" not games.
@@yogurtgaminglol that's the point. Those games aren't about gameplay. They are purely about story.
You're like the Ralphthemoviemaker of Video games! Love all your stuff. Could not agree with you more on this one, Arkham Knight was incredibly disappointing for every reason you mentioned.. I never played Origins, but I'm gunna go buy it now..
ua-cam.com/users/ralphthemoviemaker?!
Playing Arkham Asylum made me appreciate a Batman geared more towards mature audiences. It was grounded, focused & never felt like it was pandering or throwing random events together for no reason. There were legitimate stakes, but the threat wasn't immediate because the villains were isolated on Arkham island, which buys Batman time to stop them
Playing Arkham Knight made me appreciate a Batman geared toward a younger audience. Batman in the 60's & 70's never talked about "the end" or blew himself up as a cover story. The villains could have hair-brained schemes & they still weren't as confusing as this (plus it was light-hearted, so nobody took it so seriously)
Edited for spelling/grammar
At least with '66 Batman, the villains' schemes being completely absurd and idiotic was done because it was written on purpose to be funny and completely bonkers. Whereas Arkham Knight is like the Dark Knight Rises of the Arkham Games, where it very clearly wants you to take it seriously and think "MAN, THIS IS THE END FOR BATMAN. HOW DOES IT ALL COME DOWN?" but the plot is so bad and the villains plans are so stupid, you couldn't really give a fuck less.
@@jorts_master69brain dead take
It's ironic you should say that Arkham Knight was more childish because it was the first one in the series to be rated M. I understand what you mean in terms of the plots and all; but it is funny because it's arguably the darkest and most violent.
This game had so much potential it would’ve been on par with The Witcher 3 if it was delayed and they actually put more heart and time and thought into it.
Dude I thought I was insane. You and I have the exact same story arguments against this game.
Everything is not lost.
Can we just talk about how you needed over 340 riddler trophies just to get the boss fight
I actually thought the ending to city was perfect or something that a comic book writer would do
I think we all owe this game an apology now...
No we don’t. Just because something worse comes along doesn’t automatically make the past bad thing good all of a sudden. Get a fucking grip.
Yup, this game was actually fantastic
Nope. I still don’t like the “Joker disease plot” and the way they wrote Batman, Jason and the Scarecrow.
No apology from me. If you like I guess I could thank AK for killing my enthusiasm for this franchise. In a way, it doing so protected me from the SS game.
I still love it, but there are def a bunch of questionable writing decisions
No.
arkham knight's story reminds me alot about spiderman 3's story. It tries to shove so many villans into its plot with their own little story arcs that at the end of the day, the overall story ends up being a mess.
Joker wasn’t so much an “alternate personality” as he was a hallucination.
The game tries to have it both ways. That's part of the problem.
Scarecrow didn't even seem like a villain in Arkham knight it was like joker and batman were fighting
Bro i am absolutely obsessed with arkham knight and i took your thoughts into consideration and they are fair yk they do make sense
Finally someone who can take constructive criticism about a game they enjoy.
@@MrMask-th2yv again im a stan completely but i can take into consideration a thought out and backed up argument
*few emergency rooms
mb but you get the point
if you are wondering why batman isnt already infected by the titan formula. Remember than in arkham asylum he used the cure on himself, while joker did not get the cure. Well until he got desperate during arkham city.
Arkham City: Anyone with this blood inside them will die.
Arkham Knight: Never mind, they’re just becoming Joker.
hey batman said that the infection was Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease but mutated beyond anything on medical records. Causing those few people to turn into jokers
looked at the arkham knight and said "thats jason"
The situation is more about showing how clever and dangerous he is rather than showing how dumb Bruce is.
in regards to the plot, you got a few things wrong there
Scarecrow had the city evacuated so he can have access to ACE without being disrupted, there he can make a gas bomb big enough to coat the entire east coast of america in gas, evacuating Gotham would do nothing, this is explicetly said by the characters
And as for his backup plan, coating the city in toxin and making it so no one could return still means that batman would have failed, and he would have gotten his petty revenge
*FIIIIINALLY* someone who agrees with me about the shit ending, I already didn't like the game up to this point but that ending absolutely ruined it beyond repair for me
Just replayed the game, the “true ending is so ass”
@Noah Marcolla You know in retrospect, Origins really does have the best story (and bosses) of the series.
How does a 2009 game with only 60 developers have better storytelling than a huge game with a huge crew
Because developers aren't writers and instead they had Paul Dini
cuz games these days focus more on gameplay and graphics than art style and good storytelling
Agree wit everything you said except the story
I always thought the Joker blood thing was so stupid. The Batman Who Laughs does the same thing. Fear toxin alone was a good enough reason to have Joker in his head
@@frogglen6350what is your beef with arkham city and clayface man? You bring him up as a defence in every comment lmao
The batman acting like its the last night thing is sort of a design flaw in a way in that its techically intended to be seen after defeating scarecrow( and thus his identity being exposed) but players can play those side missions before scarecrow and the dialogue doesnt change unfortunatly
Bruce could defeat freaking Solomon Grundy in City, but had a hard time with scarecrow LMAO
I remember when i first played this, i had an issue with story pacing and tbe batmobile segments.
But man.... that art design was ON POINT.
The first few minutes kinda sums up the entirety of Fox's Gotham series.
Even though Rocksteady was basically screaming that they wanted it to end, and there are rumors that WB Montreal are going to make another prequel or sequel. I wish they would let the series die and start with a clean slate, give us something fresh. Don't COD this series
Or you know.....make a Superman game..
Bricks_Ahoy If done right it would be amazing
@@bricks_ahoy1981 in my opinion, it's impossible to make a good super man game
Bricks_Ahoy it’s hard to make a superman game because he can’t fight thugs or take on guys with guns as they could not harm him at all.
The whole part about people with jokers blood turning into him was my least favorite part of Arkham knight
How is Scarecrow implanting hallucinations into people exactly the game doesnt seem to do that.
The hallucinations are actually very specific to a person, but scarecrow can't pick it what it is since, in theory, it is based on a person's worst fears
