    Also like to add, to not be afraid to ask for a better dock assignment or for their Trailer Jockies to dock it for you. I noticed that just a couple of docks down would be an easy pull up into parking lot for a straight back in. It was insane for them to give you that dock position with your long haul, long nose cab setup. It's one thing if that's their ONLY dock but worth a try to get a better setup by simply asking nicely for them to provide a better, faster dock position or solution.
    Good for you to get it docked safely and not try and hurriedly force the trailer back and end up damaging something.

  • @davidhoward5687
    @davidhoward5687 Рік тому +5

    Alex you had that back on point until that guy told you to run the curb over, I would have made the same decision to 90 that into the dock. One thing that has always helped me when doing a 90 and will always go exactly where you want it to is to pull your trailer past the spot you want to go into but only pull past it about the width of a trailer (not the length) and just cut it like you normally would for a 90 and it will go into the spot every time. I no longer do 45 degree backs because doing it this way you will get into the spot so easily. Trust me when I tell you this because I run a dollar tree account that requires these kinds of backs on a daily basis.

    one thing I learned is to pay attention to your surroundings and I dont mean GOAL. I mean look for signs that tires have worn out a certain area. The curb in front of you looked like the grass had been killed from other drivers having to jump the curb also. It might not be pretty but you're not the first to jump it and probably not the last. You did well for a sleeper with a 53 footer

  • @ruska0110

    Good work! With the bungees you hook the chain then hook it under the trailer near the tires.. there are areas where it’ll hook to that creates tension, just for temporary securement.

    I run a day cab on a 48 most days in a downtown setting. one of the biggest things I was taught in school and otj training is your set up determines the ease of the back. When you was first riding by the dock you should’ve almost drove straight into the white truck and dove across the street and back to about the steer axle of the white truck this would’ve angled your trailer a lot better into the dock and keeping your cab away from the sidewalk giving you room to get straight for a straight line back. Hope this helps boss
