I have the Fishhunter for this exact reason! I have a TON of little ponds like that around me. I can pull up.. cast out.. 4 feet deep max. I can assume it freezes out here in MN, so I don't bother throwing a line in it and move on.
I love it for ice fishing, I don't have to worry about the transducer getting wrapped up in my line or anything like that. Drop it in and fish.
I just bought a boat, the only reason I think I'll buy an actual depth finder will be for depth soundings so I don't run aground.

Milliken Fishing. Yes I do. Just kinda stumbled onto it last year. There was a guy there on a kayak who was kind enough to share his knowledge of the lake. Been catching fish there ever since. I've only fished the two lakes you fished tho. Fishin any good in the other ones?

Wou ld you be willing to say which SRA that is? I do a lot of fishing in the Omaha/Lincoln area. You'll need to check out Memphis Lake SRA. They have some big bass in there. Caught a few pushing 5 lbs. this year and all were successfully released. I know some people don't give away their spots but hey, worth a try. SUBSCRIBED!

The one thing I'm having trouble with is the thought of casting it out and getting in snagged or just losing it in the water in general.
Then you've just flushed $100+ down the drain.

this has to work from a boat too. Sure would beat those expensive fish finders.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

I like the idea of a depth finder but I would never use it for the type of fishing I do cause I would get it snagged and loose a $200 piece of tech

I'm pretty sure it was Fremont Lakes. I fished them quite a bit when I lived in Omaha. This video brought back a lot of memories. Also try the salt valley lakes around Lincoln. Wagon Train always seemed to be a good one. That was a loooong time ago tho.
