@@biggwillbeats4384 Dang, really? Someone should notify the bass where I live. I wonder why the bass section at the tackle shop has so many rubber worms in it.
Your worm was DOA and never moved a bit. Don't hook it so many times and fish with the whole worm instead of pinching it in half. If they see your worm wiggling on the bottom they'll be more likely to take it. If you feel like the bait is just to large switch to smaller worms like maybe a red wiggler.
@@ashbyscott4180 That's not always true it depends on the fish there's videos showing it on UA-cam, they make this sucking/inhaling and suck the whole worm in. Yes sometimes small fish will nibble but bigger fish won't.
@@afkinthebrain3421 I have tried both ways, I have way better luck not bunching it on the hook, and also if you go to amy major fishing or outdoor place, they are going to tell you not to bunch it on the hook. This is PROOF that presentation matters. When you hook a nightcrawler, it is advised, to NEVER poke a hole through it numerous times in a big clump. It's a bad and lazy way to hook a worm. You want the worm to be as slender (most natural looking) as possible and a little tail at the end. Yes, you will be literally wrestling with your worm but it matters. Also, for note, if you want those bluegill you need to float your worm or use a floater to bring your worm higher and closer to the surface.
@@adrianlajas5336 - Since you must be fishing where the fish are stupid and hungry - you can probably be catching 30-50 per hour, if you weren't lazy! 😆
@@cdgbdrhvnh, your way of throwing this as bait into the water is amazing and I love it. It's too bad that no one has bitten it yet, it seems. Praying for a catch is always a good idea.
Wow! This is so cool! I can't believe these fish were so active on a high pressure clear blue sky sunny day. Usually that turns fish off and then become lethargic and bury in the weeds. But that would explain why they weren't feeding, but the warm water may have kept them active if it was cold out . I can't believe there's invasive species like tilapia as well in the Potomac River! You should try injecting the worm with air using a needle and syringe. There's videos on how to do it and the worm would float up or put a floating jig head that might have helped
Its just my opinion and I could be wrong but I think that fish are smarter than we think. Your bait presentation didn't look natural, which is probably why they were hesitant about taking it.
Panfish and bass will usually go for a suspended bait much more readily, especially if it's 6-12 inches off the bottom. I'm sure this would be tricky with a camera attached to your fishing line...maybe run a longer leader from the camera and put some sort of float just above the bait/hook, and give it some action every now and then.
Good stuff. I'd be interested to see real time of both the bite and how it affects the rod tip. I've been fishing the mississippi for catfish and am to the point to where I feel like I can tell the difference between a cat or a gar bite. But I'm still so curious as to what's going on under there to make that rod tip look different.of course, fishing in very heavy current makes a huge difference too.
There are two ways one can reference Terraria through this video: the nightcrawlers he uses as bait, and the wall of text that appears at the start when you have subtitles on
Wow, you’re my neighbor! Great idea. Important for viewers to know water is so clear because of the discharge feeding it,, the rest of the Potomac is not clear like this.
I'd use wax worms. They hold up better, and the fit in a blue gill's mouth. The trouble with nightcrawler is the die too easily. So I've found I have to "twitch" a nightcrawler, to make anything other than catfish think it's still alive. Fish know what's normal in the water, your camera looks like a lure to them, that's why they keep biting it. I think it's really cool what you're doing though, please keep it up!
At first yes, but that’s why you have an extremely stronger mainline then leader. Cuz when it snags most the time the leader breaks. I also fish it in safer locations where I know I won’t get stuck
Just a suggestion if you use a size 4 hook and put the worm on as if you were putting on a sock and elevate the hook so it's off the lake bed you will have a better chance of hooking them.
I know this has been up for a while, and I second some of the suggestions about presentation of the worm to the fish. If the worm would actually be slightly hanging in the water column it would be more attractive to the bass as they are predatory and are less like to eat from the bottom. Use a bobber, measure the depth with a heavy weight so that the bobber is positioned slightly under the surface. This ensures presentation an inch above the bottom.
Fun video. Try a worm inflator, that’s a needle you stick on the worm to blow an air bubble in it. Then the worm will float a few inches off the bottom. I thought it was a joke the first time I heard about it but it really works great here in California.
If you want to catch the bass, thread a whole nightcrawler on the line above the hook, hide the hook in its tail and inflate it. If it suspends above the bottom you'll have a much higher chance of catching bass. Also, to keep the bluegill off, I just use a larger hook and two whole nightcrawlers. Works wonders.
I usually hook the worm down through the top of the worm, then pop the point out and turn it then hook it back into the worm around the ring on the worm. This really hides the hook and also helps prevent snags.
