Matt was looking like a little kid looking at his hero. I know this experience was out of this world for him.
Read this comment and i couldnt stop laughing because he basically is a little kid with his idol :D hahaha
He looks so nervous he started talking fast hahaha
For the rest of us we can't even talk in the presence of our idols
we gotta hit 666
When John starts playing at 2:30 I hear Welcome To The Jungle.
Okay?
+kkiller81 SAME
+kkiller81 haha me too!
+kkiller81 i guess that's why matt smiled there
funny. I hear P.L.U.C.K. from System of a Down
Matt has immaculate posture
wcr4 He's just Japanese+his dad was a soldier=superior discipline
He had a major back issue not too long ago, so that’s one of his main reasons for being so into fitness within the last 5 years or so.
wcr4 no. That's him in every video he is sitting in and playing guitar Or even playing games in his twitch streams. Also, that's the RIGHT pose.
Just noticed that
Jacob Lerg hahaha I was thinking the same thing😂😂
When you're so good you're giving Matt Heafy guitar lessons...
I love the level of respect Matt has, they are both such talented humble dudes. Last albums from both bands total masterpieces. Matt just keeps getting stronger from album to album and John just blows me away on every album when I think he has reached God level, he goes beyond, always.
2:40
John "and we don't have a metronome but umm let's see..."
*uses godly powers*
**thud**
*metronome teleports to the set*
Jeffrey Roman 😂😂😂😂
LMAO
BoyWreckless
🤣🤣😂😂
😂
Roadrunner: "You know what the fans will love? Two of our most popular and skilled guitarists getting together and rocking out. BRILLIANT."
Matt Heafy: "Awesome, I get a lesson from John Petrucci :D"
This is like Jesus Christ teaching his disciple the commandments.
+rodrigueskorn Damn right...:D
LEL!
+rodrigueskorn
AMEN.
ROFLMFAO man!!!
+rodrigueskorn No it isn't at all. John is 10x better.
When JP is in presence of another guitar player, you can see the compassion in his eyes.
It's like he's thinking "It's alright son, everything's gonna be fine, just practice another 1000 hours and you''ll be a decent guitar player."
This made me laugh. You can see the compassion in his eyes. That is too funny. Lol.
Maybe he should spend some time with guthrie gohan, Jason Becker and Jeff loomis to learn humility
@@waiz0231 You are probably a 13 year old who doesn't know the differences between their styles. Their styles are much much different yet they are Gods in their respective genres
petrucci is a great teacher
reading youtube comments is the best thing eva
ever*
For about 5 minutes then it gets annoying reading all the hero worship barf!
"Play like a rhyme fast thing like you would do" Petrucci best describes his guitar playing.
His name is John Petrucci, but for me he will always be "EL PELUCA"
+Cabeza Clava SABEEEEEEEEE!!!
Peluca as in a wig?
El peluca saaaapeeee!
Sebastian Pena he is the petruccinator for me
Sebastian Pena just for this I love u bro, also MAS BIEN
Don't do it John!! Don't teach him the ancient secrets!!!!
Don't worry, he,s never gonna learn the full stuff.
MrAlienautopsy john isnt petty, he knows by sharing, he only increases his own wealth
+NIGGAS HELL YEEAH NIGGAS
John has got the keys to the BMW. And I want them, along with the lambo.
Matt looks soooooo focused that it's almost awkwardly creepy xD
Love you both!!!
LoL yeah.
If there is ever a movie based on Trivium - Joseph Gordon Levitt needs to play heafy
stealthsteve86 hahaha
lmao
Holy shit. I was looking through the comments because I was about to say this.
Yeaa yeeaa i thinking about that too
matt has great posture
+Steve Jobs I bet your back is nice and straight, too, having been in that coffin for so long.
+John Romano Lol
i hope you broke your back for judging others. rip
i want to see Tosin Abasi with Petrucii!
carlitozik world implodes
carlitozik I think Synaster Gates would be a cool match.
@@dantheman6888 as a fan of both guitarist, (also me and Syn are fans of JP) that'd be awesome!
This technique is actually immensely useful for learning intricate alternate picking rhythm patterns for modern metal
2:30 - I thought he wanted to play "Welcome to the jungle". 0.o
haha i thought that same thing
It's funny because you can see Matt smile and begin to play Welcome To the Jungle but John is totally in another place. haha
Gordon Tubbs lol
Matt actually started pressing the notes for the intro hahaha
I did too, the rhythm seemed exactly the same as jungle
JP is such a nice down to earth guy
Sit down son and let me give you a music lesson
+Shadow 3091 Ask Bach i've got more cock than Smith and Wesson
Shadow 3091 fucking classic. and the fact that all these people understand the reference is hilarious
Kingvx3 your music gets you bitches on your Facebook pages
Shadow 3091 That one was pretty funny lol
My two top favorite bands!
2 humble guys I like that : )
Guys playing with all elbow freaks him out..
*Zakk Wylde has entered the chat*
Zakk actually has incredible hybrid picking technique, but his alternate is as aggressive as it gets.
Knew I'd find that in the comments. :D
@@J.PC.Designs Al Dimeola..?
Trivium is one of the greatest live bands to go see! They sound amazing live!
"hurRrr dURrr, dis band is wai bettar than dat band"
i know right. all these people fighting like pre-puberty kids
@@oblongjr 99 looked bad, so I liked anyways
Thank you Matt for the first question! I've been having the same problem! God Bless you brother!
it makes me so sad that out of all the commenters in youtube land, its the guitar players who are the most critical and caustic of all people. music is the last place where I want to see hate or people putting people down
ua-cam.com/video/vUctElGXEXo/v-deo.html
awesome lesson
phantomofoaktown stfu
Wow really? You think that guitar players who comment on UA-cam are the "most critical and caustic OF ALL PEOPLE". Well I think you are a dumb shit for making that comment. I think I can find a few different groups of people commenting on UA-cam that are a bit more critical and caustic than guitar players. Lets see, Dems/Reps, Social Justice Warriors, Snowflakes, terrorist, college professors, Black Lives Matter, just a few off the top of my head. Leave fucking guitar players alone.
John You are a LEGEND!!!
Rock Discipline is a great book. I'm a guitar teacher and teach some of my students from it. John is a hell of a teacher and guitarist.
His books and DVDs really helped my style and practice habits through the years.
Anyone who is at a stale sticking point on guitar and are frustrated.
Should get gis lessons. You really will improve.
Great lesson thank to both!!!
I strive to have Matt Healy’s godly posture
555666 *strife
2 of my favorite bands
I just love the picking style of Jeff Hanneman.
Taurus Guy no bro, it was a young thing, once he got old (by old i mean Petruccis age) he was sloppy as fuck
Was never a fan of Trivium, but I have HUGE respect for anyone who's willing to publicly sit down and take advice from a better guitarist.
John are a LEGEND!!!!
Yall seem like sweet humble guys..i love it!
Such a cool video!
i love how, no matter what john teaches to whoever, hes always that much better that its like hes talking to someone who just picked up the guitar
What an awesome pair up. 😲🤟
love u john
While I can not speak to trivium as I am unfamiliar with them John is a phenomenal guitarist. Music is supposed to take you on a journey, it allows you to express your self. Just enjoy where it goes. If you don't care for his style fine. There is no need to be rude about it.
Can't even tell you how much I love Petrucci's guitar playing. He's the best in the world.
Why am I even watching this? I'm a drummer
why do I see you everywhere
So by your logic i cant listen to songs if im not a singer?
Rob Jenn no, but if your not a singer you shouldn’t watch singing tutorial.
Why am I watching this I'm just basic player guitarist
Why m I watching this.... M a dry cleaner 😂
Mis dos ídolos juntos ❤🤘
Thank you!
The collab I didn't know I needed until I had it 🤤
I know your activities when on stage!
you look stunning at the same time motivated me!
hes so cool im crying right now.
ill do anything to meet dream theater an specially john
I remember when this came out, geez
i love the finish of that les paul
matt a good n down to earth person...
yeah!!! very cool!!!
Two favourite guitarists in one video :D
great bands
John is technically gifted shredder, one of the best guitarists in the World!
Very good tips from the master teacher petrucci 🤘
Well, John is just a lovely dude
I need to get my hands on one of those music man majesty’s
The trick with the pinky changes a lot. Wow.
ahhh yeeea. I remember that one.
Amazing to see John give advice and tips. He seems like such a down to earth amazing bloke. Shame his fans aren't (Well I am)
and Matt Heafy is holding GITAAH!
dammit Yui.
DPWRepublic lol
@Nobume "I hate fucking weeb!"
- typical weeb
Matt's posture is insanely good
Thanks for using a les paul. I love it
Extremely talented dudes. Many years of playing between the 2.
Tanner Fry yes but petrucci is learning to Matt. It's a fact, a normal fact..
2:44.. John-"we don't have a metronome, lets see" and boom there is a noise, petrucci used his godly powers to teleport it..
I use my thumb with a bit of wrist up to around Petrucci speed in this video and then strict elbow for faster speeds. No tension, accurate and my thumb and wrist recover. Helps when you're playing live.
True. My definition of emo is pop arranged for bands instruments and screaming, which I have heard in trivium. but I did find the most badass, twisted harmony I've ever heard by them, something I forgot in my last comment.
I saw petrucci playing in january in london it was so good it was like the most amazing experience ever.
such a humble guitarist both of them, professionals looking for tips, now that is MUSIC!
Matt is an excellent guitar player
Esto demuestra cuán humilde es Matt! Son los dos unos genios
Como no mostrarse humilde cuando estás delante de uno de tus ídolos y Matt lo demuestra en grande :)
both great bands, both great guitarrists
Wow!!
In the next one, System of a Down will meet Opeth ?..
you mean, a shit band meets a godlike band? xD
I didn't say that ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Pier-Andrea Bascetto Arch Enemy meets little wayne lol. : p
Theodore G. Wallace So you're saying that piece of shit Sorceress was better than that early 2000s masterpiece Hypnotize? You're havin' a laugh, aren't ye?
Nice to see despite Trivium's own success, Matt has the humility to provide such respect to John.
You're doing it right.
That 2nd exercise I practise whenever I get the time.
it is SO great to see those guitarist having almost the same problems like us!
Matt's posture holy shit!
So glad someone else thought that.
Match made in heaven.
why would you not mic the amps instead of just the entire room?
he has excellent posture
Matt is great too, its difficult when u playing guitar with singing n even do some melody. They both was great.
I remember teaching both of them
This is so awesome, even though I don't understand a thing they are saying due to my lack of musical talent!!!
Ricardo Mauricio Araya I feel ya, buddy..me too
looking back at these two in 2019 is shocking lol. John looks so different, (mostly because of his glorious beard now).
I think a trivium dream theater song would AMAZING! Make it so!!
The student and the teacher- I can see a sparkle in Matts Eyes. I'd love to learn from the Petrucci, one of earth's most versatile and technical guitarist.
john is a a very nice guy
How have I never seen this before?!?!
When Petrucci begins to play, I thought he was starting the intro to G’n’R’s Welcome to the jungle, for a sec 😂😂
good old days...
Yep Michael Romeo's Instructional Video "The Guitar Chapter" is online and ready for you to learn what's up! :D
Классные они оба чувака. И как музыканты и как люди. Я с Мэтом на одном из концертах познакомился. Совершенно заземлённый чувак и без тени высокомерности.
JP's Rock Discipline surely is influential ..., not only for Matt, but for other tons of guitarists, as well
