Krondo 17 I feel very much the same. I have appreciated and respected the strengths of each drummer, but I feel Alex brings a certain energy that I feel has been lacking since Travis.

I'm still quite put out by the turnover rate of drummers, but I'm really glad how open and forthright the band is being about their perspective on the issue. Matt is being brutally honest and it's refreshing to hear Paolo say "we thought maybe this time it'd actually work out with this guy". These men are professionals in music. I like every TRIVIUM album they made from the beginning. This is real creativity - every album is different. Real music without false. Keep on moving TRIVIUM. I`m waiting for the new album. \m/
I've been listening to metal for twenty years. Alex is by far one of the best drummers I've ever heard. I'm stoked to see just how far he can take this.
Travis Smith was the bedrock of my influence as a drummer and musician growing up, I think Alex is the next chapter for the first real time in Trivium in 9+ years where that might happen again. There is something about the drumming on Shogun that will never be touched, unique drummers aren't just "around," keep Alex Bent.
Alex is phenomenal. This is honestly the first trivium record I love front to back, and I credit to his playing. I took a few lessons with him a few years ago,and he's an absolute monster player.
Alex is a master! I love Trivium's music and I listened and enjoyed every album! Even so, first time I heard The sin and the sentence, i got shocked at the very first seconds because of the drumming! really hope they''ll keep alex! See you in november guys! big love from montreal Canada!
This is really starting to feel like the best time to be a Trivium fan since Shogun, everything about this album has my excitement levels through the roof... Especially Alex, finally a drummer that has the technicality and measure on par if not superior to Travis, able to compliment everyone else's musicianship perfectly. And Matt, stay safe out there in Florida dude! \../
Alex has amazing talent. He understands trivium and even beyond what it should be and its taking it to a whole new level. Every other drummer in Trivium in the past had great history and skill levels, but personally, i would definately keep alex due to his skill level, understanding, easily able to do a trivium song in 1 to 2 takes, able to play 15 songs in a week, he is amazing. He even planned on what type of beats he wanted to do without hesitation for their songs. He thought ahead and he is really outstanding. Keep him in and make trivium better. I cant wait for the new album. #thesinandthesentence2017
3:11 Matt just enjoying some food then BAM! Camera recording him, just the instant "Oh Shit!" face. It feels great coming back and watching these videos after the album has been out for a couple months now, and I have to say KEEP ALEX, he is what makes you guys you again!
It suddenly makes so much sense. They want a drummer who shares their vision of the band and that has the grit to make it happen. As a fan, it's been rough to see them have so much trouble, but it seems to be leading in the right direction. Hats off to the band, and I can't wait to hear the new record.
Yhea i love dis people because they look like they where my group of friends, just like people that exactly share youre aspirations, lifestyle, and ways of seeing life. Matt and Alex just changed my hole life, they make me be who i am a little bit more
Drummers have got it rough man. Next to vocals, I would say that it is the most criticized aspect of metal music. People expect them to be perfect live. I'm not a drummer, but it sure seems hard. Good on you Alex. You're a beast dude.
I feel like most people haven't got a clue on what it takes to hold a band together and jump the gun on the drummer hate far too easily. Getting through a record with 4 creative minds must be an impossible task let alone touring internationally with an equally aggressive schedule. Matt, Paolo, and Corey obviously get along creatively and to shoehorn somebody into a situation where there's already an immense catalog of music (and chemistry) is probably insurmountable. We agree that Alex is amazing and we'd love him to stay but I wish I could watch videos like this one and share the hype instead of have to wade through comments of fifteen year olds that have never made a relationship work in the first place give "bulletproof advice" to a band that has grown exponentially since their inception. Anyone that has supervised people before, been in long term relationships, or done any kind of larger-scale social engagement in a professional setting understands that human chemistry is difficult and complex. We want a consistent drummer. They get it. It's complicated. Fuck.
I just logged in to give you a thumbs up and cheers man, that's the way it has to be seen. People needs to stop giving hate on their decisions, cause we are not there and anyways, as you said, human chemistry is difficult and complex, it is not just a matter of who is the best technical drummer or bass player (even thought it's important) but how they connect and interact as a whole. That's why Matt refers to Trivium as Corey, Paolo and himself, they've been through everything you must fight as a band and they know each other and the fact that they work within themselves, and in words of Matt (more or less quoted) "every drummer change it's for the band survival" and that's it, we are losing a lot of things that can happen inside a band, and we are no one to hate on their decisions. Cheers guys and have a nice metal day!
Trevor Smith good to know not everyone is being a twat about it. I've been playing guitar for roughly 15 years. Gone through a few bands. I've lost members, and still can't say I feel for them. I will never know what it's like from a professional standpoint. It's so much different from a group of guys being in a band just for the fuck of it. This is their career
No offence I've never heard of this drummer... but dam.... he is so good! About 15 seconds into the sin and I was mind blown... I haven't heard a drummer like him before. Perfect fit.
Its not about who was there first. Its about who is the creative mind of Trivium right NOW. And thats clearly Matt, Corey and Paolo since they are the ones writing the songs. They also need to be the ones calling the shots. They have the vision. This vision cant be disturbed by a drummer whos ego is too big.
Alex has been an amazing drummer since the early days back when he first started getting around in the scene. Used to be in a few tech bands, and Sick drummer has some cool videos of him when he was younger. Trying to think of the band. Don't feel like googling but I think it was Arkaik.
Its true. Every drummer since Nick, theyve always said 'This guy is what the band needed to survive'. This is just the first time that Matt or anyone has put the fact that they change drummers so much on blast or explained why.
I think Alex may last longer than previous drummers because he seems to be a more low profile dude. Matt statemente about him, Corey and Paolo "being Trivium" just pretty much says what he wants from a drummer: a skilled guy who doens't want to participate creatively in the band.
Gustavo Satyl unreleased song and Matt said in recent quick QnA there's 4 unreleased song that coming to Tsats special edition which 3 from leftover record and 1 cover song if im not mistaken
I keep hearing little bits of other songs in this video and I really really want to hear more because they sound so god damn heavy and kick ass. October is too far away man.
Its a fact. Also drummers dont “abandon“ them. The guys tell the drummers that dont fit. And thats a very good thing. Alex is the best thing that could ever have happened to Trivium. It was worth it and needed to go through the others to be able to end up with Alex
If you ever saw the "in waves" and "silence in the snow" drummers live you'll see why Trivium got rid of them. Alex is much more consistent live and creative in the studio
Not really a fan of the arrogance in the statement by Matt that "Cory, Paolo, and myself ARE Trivium" since drums are an absolutely integral part of any metal band. I get that they have been the core of the group for a long time now, but saying that drummers are interchangeable and that only those three members actually count just flies in the face of what a true BAND really is. It is a cohesive TEAM of people, all with crucial roles to play, and to think that whosoever is behind the kit is not an integral part of that is to misunderstand completely what it is that makes a successful band. There's no doubt that Trivium has languished in terms of creativity and quality ever since they booted Travis and this idea that only Matt, Cory and Paolo make up the band is the direct reason for it. Hopefully they all realize what a precious commodity they have in Alex now and include him as that crucial fourth TRUE member going forward. Otherwise the future of Trivium will be the story of so much lost potential.
But they are. Just like Metallica is James and Lars, Trujillo and Alex are just hired and earn their salary for bass/drums, and that's it. A band is like a company/enterprise, and they have their owners, in this case, Corey Paolo and Matt.
A drummer is a very important band member if not the most important. But its perfectly possible and fair to say that Matt, Corey and Paolo are calling ALL the shots. Because they are writing the material. They KNOW very very well what they need drumming wise. They know it better than the drummer himself. Because they got the big picture of the song in mind from the first second. And if THEY say no that drummer isnt what we have invisioned for our songs then that drummer isnt the right one and should not be in the band.
I want to preface the following by saying that Alex is an absolute monster behind the kit. That guy has to be one of the finest drummers in the world today. He will forever have my respect. He made an awesome record with Trivium. HOWEVER. Just as Matt said, people have grown attached to certain drummers they’ve had over the years. I’m no different. For my money, Travis Smith will always be number 1. He had the speed, he had the technical skills, and he was in the pocket at all times. He can do thrash, black, death, glam, and the rock. But most importantly, he had the groove. It’s too bad that the personalities just didn’t quite jive. I’d love to see Travis behind the kit again someday.
nah, Travis is inconsistent live and I doubt he's able to play Death/Black metal or something death metal influenced like Shattering The Skied Above or even all the songs from The Sin And The Sentence. But I do prefer his creativity over Nick and Mat Madiro though
@@mr.sidecomments9278 Ok it’s two years later, and there are two more albums with Alex. Smart people always reserve the right to change their minds with new information, and I need to revise my statement above. My favorite Trivium records are the early ones with Travis, but I don’t think I could imagine Trivium without Alex now. I saw them a couple months back with Megadeth; my fourth time seeing them. I’ve seen them once with Travis, twice with Nick, and once with Alex. The most recent show with Alex was BY FAR the tightest and most amazing performance I’ve seen from them. As far as I’m concerned, Alex has more than assumed his position on the throne for Trivium. Love this guy, looking forward to more!!!
@@MetalBaller83 well no worries man. In these past years, my appreciation of Travis actually grew so I understand where you're coming from. And to tell you the truth, I sort of have a lukewarm reception towards their 2 recent cd's (yep you heard that right! I meant Deadmen and Dragons) Alex is necessary for Trivium's evolution but there's just something about Travis' groove I miss that just can't be substituted by super-fast & technical drumming. Now I'm not pointing fingers at Alex as to why I'm not so crazy about their 2 cd's like I did with The Sin and the Sentence, maybe it just has something to do with the band playing it too safe

Pan Igor
Yeah fun fact, Matt did all the solos to ETI. Mainly because Corey hadn't join yet.
Matt did all the guitar on that album.
Drums are killer for this. They really make the mood for the music. Alex plays fast and thats good if we want old/good new trivium
Alex is sick and adds the boom to the band!! Can't wait for the new album and hopefully he will be permanent!!
"OK, sure."
- Alex Bent 2017
Talking about it sounds like a machine. Alex is a gawd damn machine! You can't stop the Machine!
God, i cant wait for the full release of the album!
Alex has been an amazing drummer since the early days back when he first started getting around in the scene. Used to be in a few tech bands, and Sick drummer has some cool videos of him when he was younger. Trying to think of the band. Don't feel like googling but I think it was Arkaik.
This new album will kick ass!!
This man is insane all around but his hihat work is a whole other level my goddddd
STOKED FOR THIS ALBUM
this guy is a beast :D
its funny how paolo is the only one that seems half happy about the drummer where matt looks like he couldnt even give a shit less
Alex is an animal behind the kit! Looking forward to more studio clips and the record \M/
Everything you hear in this video sounds really Shogun-ish! I like it!
Es una bestia el baterista, realmente es la base rítmica que Trivium requiere
everytime a new drummer comes, they say the same thing.
I fear for alex....
They don't actually. Nice try though.
they do
Its true. Every drummer since Nick, theyve always said 'This guy is what the band needed to survive'. This is just the first time that Matt or anyone has put the fact that they change drummers so much on blast or explained why.
They have with every drummer
I think Alex may last longer than previous drummers because he seems to be a more low profile dude. Matt statemente about him, Corey and Paolo "being Trivium" just pretty much says what he wants from a drummer: a skilled guy who doens't want to participate creatively in the band.
This album promises so fucking much, can't wait!
Don't you ever kick this drummer out ever!!!! this man is a beast!!!
7:32 What's that song?
Gustavo Satyl unreleased song and Matt said in recent quick QnA there's 4 unreleased song that coming to Tsats special edition which 3 from leftover record and 1 cover song if im not mistaken
Xan
Ooohhf
Drowning In The Sound
That fuckin' dude is a beast on drums, holy shit. This album is gonna kill.
So nice guys!!! I personally liked this album a lot
Alex is a beast he is sooo good. Wow... speechless \m/
Anyone else come back 6 years later to see all the comments hoping Alex will still be in the band?😂 LONG LIVE THE 🐷🤘🏻 He IS Trivium's Drummer!!!
I keep hearing little bits of other songs in this video and I really really want to hear more because they sound so god damn heavy and kick ass. October is too far away man.
2:52 they make this album on JUN 8 2021 and come back in time to release it in 2017. time-travel existed
"Paulo, Corey, and myself are Trivium. The three of us are Trivium." Jesus, no wonder drummers abandon you guys.
That track at the end had a real thrashy vibe! Keen!
Now I'm not pointing fingers at Alex as to why I'm not so crazy about their 2 cd's like I did with The Sin and the Sentence, maybe it just has something to do with the band playing it too safe
great drummer, I hope the new album sounds nice, like the first single.
