Mariah's range is insane, the fact she can go so low with such good control and quality, and yet whistle all the way up to the top of the 7th octave (possibly even in to the 8th) is crazy.
Erika Delgado I remember years ago, her vocal coach said she can easily reach the entire 8th octave 😩. There’s literally no one like Mariah, she truly is the diamond standard.
@ajayyy Plus the way she prefers not to use the 8th octave because it may sound annoying, so she rathers stick with musicality instead of showing off. Queen shit 👑👏
It depends on the voice type. If you’re a soprano high notes are easier for you and your low notes might already sound quite shallow below E3/F3, but for a contralto it’s a lot easier to sing very low notes than to belt in the 5th octave. Mezzo’s also usually have a good amount of ease in their lower register - most of them are at least able to hit C3/C#3’s with tone and some weight to those notes. Of course there are always exceptions though - Mariah for example. A soprano who is able to comfortably sing in the 2nd octave.
She is crazy talented. It's sad to see her struggling with some of it nowadays. When she does whistle registry, you can see it is very painful for her.

@@jak30341 She's not an alto/contralto she's a coloratura soprano. In order to be an Alto, you have to have a masculine tone and Mariah does not at all sound like a man. Also, Mariah has more ease in her upper register than any contralto would ever have.
fun fact about Madonna: in a podcast featuring someone who used to produce her songs, he her voice is a lot deeper than msot people realise and that in studio, they would sometimes have her sing to a slower recording and then speed that specific part up to make her voice sound higher.
i think her voice sounds a lot better when she embodies her natural low tone and sings more naturally. it's a shame that she forces herself to sing like a little girl just to be more comercially appealing to the music industry.
A Welsh musician has recently broken the record (2019 and current Guinness World Record holder.) for the lowest vocal note (female). Helen Leahey, the aptly named 'Bass Queen', sang from a D5 to a D2 note at an incredibly deep 72.5 hertz(es) in her attempt at the Music School Wagner in Koblenz, Germany.
She is definitly not a queen of low notes, there were more better singers in low register like Nina Simone,Toni Braxton, even miley has more depth in low notes than Mariah, she is amazing in high notes there would be little who can match her there but low notes are not one of them it was good but she isnt the best in lows.
You are one of the few credible people left who gave credit where credit was due. The Queen of the lower register is Toni Braxton. Whatever she lacks in range or support, she makes up for in depth and tone so rich and so beautiful.
Nina Hagen is a peculiar case. She originally started with a brighter, girlier, higher voice that lowered more and more with age, pregnancies and I believe smoking till she literally sounds almost like a man nowadays. I’ve never heard of another singer with a drop in pitch as big as hers. The only one that comes close in the vocal change over the years is Dame Shirley Bassey but her voice still didn’t change nearly as much.
Madonna A2 ! Impressive register although she doesn’t have the same technical vibing voice, she can be great. Quite a surprise and I love this song it’s called Paradise from Music ❤️
These are some of my favorite moments to hear from female singers. They still take so much talent and support and they're so underrated compared to high notes. When singers just land on a solid low note it's magical. Love Jazmine Sullivan, Brandy, and Keke Wyatt for the underrated low notes and their voices overall. Definitely worth checking out more!
Mariah is undoubtedly the best on melisma added to changes of key on high notes and low notes. That said for low notes I have always loved Toni Braxton's voice better. May I also say pity there was no clip of the wonderful contralto (and exquisite human being) that is Annie Lennox. In any case, thanks for the video. 👍❤️
It’s honestly really cool to hear how low some women can go! My voice is naturally an octave lower than, say, Mariah Carey’s on a daily basis (I’m a bass singer) and I can hit notes like Low C (C2) and around there with the same comfort level I imagine Mariah has with her voice at C3. When my voice gets sick it has a tendency to drop down to A1 or G#1, but the lowest it’s ever gone was F1 back when I was in 8th grade, and man I wish I recorded that, because I know I likely won’t be hitting that again for a loooooong while 😂
Awesome! I was surprised to see many that others don’t typically speak of such as the R&B greats like Rachelle Ferrell, Lalah Hathaway, and Lisa Fischer. Whenever u get an opportunity, listen to Jessica Reedy! She has the sickest low register I’ve ever heard on a woman😍!
