Best concert ever on TV. I remember it so clearly. If you got up you'd lose your seat in front of the television. I just laid on the floor on my stomach. I was 19 at the time. I was amazed. Loved watching your reaction!

I remember watching this on TV back in 1973. I was 10 then. The concert was telecast around the world. Over 1 billion people watched it.
Can't get enough of Elvis singing he puts so much passion and emotion and that powerful voice just gives me chills not to mention he was a fine looking man
It was Frank Sinatras song, but after Elvis performed it with that regal voice his became the best version and Frank Sinatra was not happy for a time as it was after all his signature song. Elvis often did this with songs not out of any mean intent its just that his voice was so good and so recognizable - as Elvis said all those many years ago when they asked him at Sun recording studio in Memphis who he sounded like, Elvis said "I dont sound like nobody"-- and that remains true to this very day. Armys of Elvis impersonators have tried and failed, it took the whole package to be Elvis, the looks, charisma, voice, stage presence etc. - hes often imitated but never duplicated.

This song was personally written for Frank Sinatra. Elvis was just doing his rendition. He did it well but it is not necessarily about who he is. It just shows you how Elvis can live out his songs.
Singers relate their own life and emotions to songs they choose to sing. After his separation from his wife, Elvis is in a reflective mood! I like and listen to both Frank and Elvis' versions.

You should really watch the documentary The Searcher. Also, there is a biopic on it's way. They were filming it in Australia when Covid started, so production had to stop. A few weeks ago, the same day that Kelly Preston died, Elvis's grandson committed suicide. Elvis had many regrets. His divorce being one of them. He wrote a song for his ex-wife Pricilla and his daughter Lisa called "Seperate Ways". Elvis was also deeply religious and had a lot of gospel songs, so I would recommend watching him sing "How great Thou art" and in The Searcher they explain how as a young boy he would sneak out to go to the African-American churches instead because he enjoyed the gospel music better there. Great reaction and very impressed with your musical taste!

@@terrymeddings5563 lol. Did not know that he did not write it. Nobody else could sing it with such meaning though, right? Have a look at the documentary "The Searcher" where in part 2 at around 1 hour and 19 minutes they explain about the divorce and the song. I definitely became an Elvis fan way too late in life but now he is probably my favourite of all time.
What now my love sung by both frank and Elvis. Elvis made that song a masterpiece and frank well he just didn't interpret it right. Give a listen to both. It's same words but 2 completely different songs
