Beautiful beautiful speech. Billy Crystal made people laugh on Ali's funeral and I imagine Ali would want that too. And that imitation is spot on. Much respect for the both of them
This has to be one of the most amazing tributes ever given .... Not just for a boxing legend, but for a man whom refused to let anyone stand in his of way being true to himself... First and foremost.
Ali wasn't education smart but you can tell how bright he was by his whip sharp sense of humor. Meeting the Philippines dictator Ferdinand Marcos he actually said, "I saw your wife. You're not as dumb as you look." To be able to pull that off and make a ruthless tyrant laugh - that's brilliant.
@Too easy Not a good quote indeed! There is only one truly God; the Creator of all things; and Jesus Christ the Only begotten Son of God, our Lord and Savior.
@Too easy True, there is only one God, the Father Almighty and Jesus Christ His Only Begotten Son. Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins. If you have a Bible please read it. Jesus Christ can be found in the New Testament. The only way to the Father (God) is to the Son (Jesus Christ).
I've watched this many times and it still brings tears. 1979, I had a backstage 35 minute conversation with Ali at the LA Forum for his retirement party TV broadcast. The conversation was supposed to be about a production prop I had made for the show. Ali didn't care about that. He wanted to talk about my personal history and some of his own. That night, I met the Ali the person that he really was. I now wish that I had recorded that conversation. Ali was an amazing person on the inside as well.
Billy has eulogized his best friend (Robin Williams) his hero (Mickey Mantle) and his big brother (Muhammad Ali). Can't be easy but he does such a magnificent job
Hello Allen, how are you doing. I hope you are safe and in good health. Looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here. I hope you don't mind thank you.
Wow i cry because ali was more than a boxer. He was love world wide all religions and races. He was a humanitarian. He never shy away from affliction. Few people on this planet that didn't need money to make him rich.
This was the best eulogy I have ever heard. Billy is a legend to be recon with, his talent lays not only his performance but also in his crystal clear humanistic outlook which should be an infectious disease that spreads out as a hay fire surrounding the world just like a glow of love. Thank you, Billy, for bringing Muhamed Ali back to life.
One of the best speeches I've ever heard. Every person on this planet needs to listen to this eulogy. It resonates on what is wrong in the world. Being Jewish myself I've been exposed many times to prejudice, but never could figure out why others resort to it. Billy Crystal's words spoke volumes on how we all should act towards one another. Muhammed Ali's greatness is not only being the best boxer of all time, but someone who was stripped of his heavyweight title and then became one of the most revered humanitarians ever.
Stripping Ali of his title was simply an act of revenge, a pitiful, spiteful emotion, it didn’t however take away the fact that through determination and hard work he won the right to be awarded a ……gong! A gong is a piece of trash that collects dust, nothing more in reailty. He rose above it and for that he deserves a louder applause than when he won the thing.
I remember seeing Mr Ali walking through the DFW airport being trailed by a gaggle of kids all wanting autographs. This lovely man took time to sign each and every child’s paper. The other thing I noticed was the expression of joy on Mr. Ali’s face. What an American treasure.
I had the pleasure of meeting him in 1990. He shook my hand and gave me an autograph. As we were shaking hands my mind immediately thought about how many people that hand knocked out and how many important people around the world also shook it.
He is a treasure to the world at large. I'm a South African never been anywhere except my own country. But I watch Ali interviews and fights on repeat. And he has a special place in my heart 💖💓
I met Muhammad Ali at his training camp when I was in 7th grade. He took the time to come over and tell my best friend and I a poem. He didn't have to do that, but was a very nice man
I was captivated the entire speech, and like many who commented, ended up broken with tears! This is one of the most beautiful testimonials of love and friendship I've ever seen and heard! I pray to have a physical relationship close to this someday. Gold standard right here... Ali is far beyond a sports figure. He was a presence that pulled you in like a gravitational force. THE GREATEST!

My father died in my arms on 7/4/84. At the age of 32 I had his body taken 2 1/2 hours away to his favorite church. I gave the eulogy in front of 500. people. It was the easiest thing I ever did. I just told them how proud I was of my father. Jordan Pride. RIP FAJ
MbseedM , I’ve had folk laughing and even clapped at my best friends send off, even my brother in laws I had them laughing, you can’t make it too sombre, it’s a sad day as it is, hopefully, you won’t have to ever speak a eulogy ever, but if you offer, make it fun, as everyone knows a time when that person had fun with everyone at sometime who attends, that would spark a great memory for someone
When the Americana Hotel in NYC opened, I was 10 years old. My dad, a cab driver, took me downtown to see the opening. Each floor represented a different U.S State. A little crowd was formed outside the hotel and there he was, Muhammed Ali. I'm short and like in the movies, my eyes went slowly from his shoes up to the top of his head, my dad and I went up to him, I put my tiny hand into his huge hand and he graciously shook it, said hi, shook my dad's hand. We stepped back and just watched him. He was happy, laughing, signing autographs, and he totally impressed me with his charm.
This eulogy is so uplifting, and inspirational to watch and listen. Billy and Ali shared something special, and it clearly shows that whatever background you come from, or religious beliefs you practice, you can still be close lifelong friends. Love the “little brother” and “big brother” relationship that they shared! Billy, you are a treasure as much as Ali was “The Greatest”.
A true love for your fellow "little brother" doesn't see color, religion or gender. Absolutely beautiful. If you're reading this, I wish you peace, love and happiness.
"The most famous Muslim man in the world honoring his Jewish friend." Profound respect for a fellow human being, particularly in light of the current, mindless hatred and intolerance we see today. Wow.

When I was young I thought Ali was arrogant and brash, then I grew old and realized what he was and what he was fighting for, when he passed and I heard the news, I cried. How brilliant he was, he changed lives - he opened eyes - thank you - the greatest ❤️❤️
MASTER CLASS!!! Seriously! This was clearly prepared in many ways but effortlessly given extemporaneously!! Man... and just beautiful words at that but littered with the truth of experience... Even if you had a grudge against the man in life - Billy would have made you love him in his passing - framing him in the light we should look at all people - Their good deeds!!! SO DOPE!!!!!!
A extraordinary Man. Muhammad Ali will always be the Greatest of all times. Billy Crystal did a fantastic job in his tribute. Heartfelt and Tear Jerking speech. Ali we will never forget you.
Thank you Billy. I’m 67 years old Australian and I’ve been fascinated/ following Ali since I listened to the Liston fight with my dad in 64. I didn’t understand his conscription protests at the time. I was an Aussie kid who believed in the domino theory aged 12. How’s that happen? But I grew to understand, admire, respect and yes...love this great man. He changed the world.. just like my Beatles did. Again Billy, thankyou
That was the most eloquent tribute I have ever witnessed. The most beautiful love filled, heartfelt tribute demonstrating the real power of honest real love. ❤️
Muhammad Ali was my late father's favourite athlete here in Malaysia. With his peace loving , sometimes funny but always wisdom words, he really deserve to bear our beloved Prophet's name. Allahum maghfirlahu, warhamhu, wa afihi, wa'fu anhu.
A well crafted and delivered eulogy to a close friend. Ali must have been smiling and applauding Billy Crystal; a champ in his own right. Thank you Billy. I can listen to this over and over and never get tired of it.
@onlyfacts It's a freaking quote based on what Ali represented and seriously, do you live behind a wall or out open in the street? Because if you live behind walls you are being an asshole.
@onlyfacts Oh, now I get it, you feel the need to bring Trump and your useless opinion into someone's funeral.Get a life. "I have a wall and Billy has a wall and our nation needs a eallt" I'm assuming "eallt" is wall.
@onlyfacts I hope you feel fulfilled, but if you seriously think Billy Crystal, after losing his good friend, went out of his way to throw a jab (pun intended) at Trump before he was elected POTUS, who freakin cares? Again, get a life.
Honestly, one of the greatest memorial speeches ever, and yet, you have 3 thousand 3 hundred dislikes??? Just shows, that no matter what greatness is shown, you cannot change the heartless hearts of negative haters.
I remember him saying, " ain't I pretty?" He was joking, but he was right, absolutely right. Known and loved by millions around the world. Still makes me cry.
Sorry for your loss Thomas, how long did you know him,was it in his boxing days or later in his life you got to know him,it must have been a pleasure to be close to such a great human.
Anytime I am presented with a memorial that makes me laugh, cry & feel lifted by words, I become aware of a world where hope still lives. Billy Crystal you are a gift. Muhammad Ali was larger than life so he could reach more people & his legacy still lives on.
How prophetic...how wonderful a eulogy. Given the very raw and recent events our world is feeling right now, people should listen to this magnificent eulogy and messages inside the story of Ali. Fantastic in scope and generous and kind in script, this is a must see. Kudos to Billy and moreover to Muhammad Ali.
The answer is not at all, when Donald Trump dies there will be people who say that he was the greatest president ever. Hell, he's not even dead and they are already saying it but just cause a few hundred or thousands of people say it, doesn't make it so. Don't hate the man (Ali) but I do hate that they still say he was the greatest of all time, when he wasn't, he was very, very good but far from the greatest.
Dennis Robertson Muhammad Ali is the Greatest. He was the ONLY Heavyweight Champion of the World! That meant he was known and recognized on the streets of every capital and major city on earth not just the USA and Europe. No other person comes close except the Queen of England, Princess Diana.... But the word fighter if left to boxing would be too small. The fight he fought gave courage to punks like Donald Trump to be able to resist going to Vietnam. He was willing to pay a fine and go to prison for his beliefs. Give up fame and fortune. He did not depend on a deferment like punkass Donald Trump or Dick Cheney. He did not run off to Mexico like John Wayne did to avoid WW2. Vietnam was an unjust war based on lies and racism. There are entire high school classes of boys drafted and dead. There are homeless shelters full of Vietnam era vets. I know firsthand because I was in one of them. Ali stood up and sacrificed himself and this was important to eventually bring an end to what essentially was another opportunity for the USA to mass murder Asians defending their country. What you wrote about Trump is worthless nonsense. Shows what a threat the USA has become for having so many ignorant people having too much power. The only people who will call Trump the greatest will be clueless Users who voted for him. There will be no such sentiment coming from South America, Africa, Asia and yes Europe..especially Britain. Heavyweight champion because he fought for the little people and spoke truth to power against men too afraid to go against him one on one.
george fish I already beat you Set Dog Stank. Stay out of civilized conversation. When we want to know how to fart the Star Spangeled Banner we will call you.
I can’t stop watching this..I keep going back to it....such a beautiful example of love and friendship between two very different people in such stark contrast to the hate and fear of each other being served up by our President every hour of every day. It’s so exhausting to my soul...I think maybe I’m using this beautiful eulogy for respite. Thank you Billy.
My husband grew up with M. ALI influencing his life.........My husband has been a fighter for humanity all his life!!! He brought M. ALI's humanitarian spirit to young boys of all color in his youth football team!! Their parents also shed tears when Coach Curran would speak....amen Muhammed you are finally in the Lords peace!!
Yep. Billy could make up a story and tell it like it really happened, and we would all believe him. Every word was perfect without a stumble. I'm not too sure whether a computer would have been this good!
One of the most beautiful eulogies I've ever heard. Ali was the greatest. Thank you Billy for sharing your love for him in such a lovely and touching way.
Kudu's to Billy Crystal for a personal, memorable and magnificent tribute to an American: boxer, olympian, athlete, civil rights icon and legend who transcended sport , political, racial, religious and national boundaries.
You have so much hate in your heart, you mock a titan. A man who become a pinnicle of strength and resilience despite the world trying to bring him down. Why would he fight in Vietnam? Why would he kill people who never did harm to him or his nation, why would his fight for a country that enslaved and lynches his people? He rejected his original name so he can be free both emotionally and physically, his original name a white name, why would any sane man adopt the name of the people who oppressed, beat and murdered his people and family. Muhammad Ali is great man because he fought the world alone while still maintaining a good heart and an intelligent mind. A true Muslim and a man worthy of admiration by all people.
@@wolfgrinveracious3948 I mock a Titan. I am a legally deaf Mexican man . Hate I am just being realistic It was over money . Greed. And betrayed everything that he supposed to be his principles. He wasn't the hero this world deserved, but he was the hero this world needed. Gone but he will never ever be forgotten.

Will always respect this man, soft spoken yet steel solid, always smiling and knocking yet serious, sincere and unapologetically ambitious. The MUHAMMAD ALI.
You're not as dumb as you look."
To be able to pull that off and make a ruthless tyrant laugh - that's brilliant.
So so true
Sorry
"He ran with the gods and walked with the crippled", really good quote.
What a great talk,May his soul rest in peace ameeenn
@Too easy Not a good quote indeed! There is only one truly God; the Creator of all things; and Jesus Christ the Only begotten Son of God, our Lord and Savior.
@Too easy True, there is only one God, the Father Almighty and Jesus Christ His Only Begotten Son. Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins. If you have a Bible please read it. Jesus Christ can be found in the New Testament. The only way to the Father (God) is to the Son (Jesus Christ).
It’s a figure of speech, I doubt he meant it to be offensive
@Too easy you really missed the whole point of this speech, huh?
One of the greatest speeches of all time. The champ would be proud of you Billy. Billy crystal is not only a great comedian but a great human being.
So Cool..thanks for sharing:)
Billy Crystal, YOU so know what to say and how to say it. This was a beautiful tribute to a great man. You are a great man too. Thank you!

I can't recall a better one. Find the one Tom Hanks did for Michael Clarke Duncan,..it's pretty moving and funny (odd combination BTW) too.
Well Said!!
It sucked,he Bashed Trumps wall

Aww,SIP TO Your Father
It takes a great understanding of the human condition to eulogize with humor.
This eulogy is so uplifting, and inspirational to watch and listen. Billy and Ali shared something special, and it clearly shows that whatever background you come from, or religious beliefs you practice, you can still be close lifelong friends. Hello
How are you doing today my name is Eric Moore
I met Ali on Miami Beach by accident and he treated me as if we had been friends for ever, a very wonderful man he was, my champ always...
I always re-watch this when it pops up. Magnificently beautiful and hilarious, just like them and their friendship.
How amazing must a person be to have words like this spoken about him.
He was....he is missed. 😔
