I am a Marine and always will be. Listening to the Admiral took me back to Parris Island where the training tested me to the limit and they tried punishing me to test my mettle to see if I had it to be a combat trained Marine. I couldn't do things right at first and they made me do it over and over until I succeeded and got it. After 3 months of terrible mental and physical training I graduated as a Marine. It was the greatest and proudest day of my life and I am still a Marine at age 85.

I showed this to my dad who's ex military, he was stricken with 3 different types of cancer that developed into a terminal illness, he went from a mean 210 pound tank to less then 100 it absolutely kills me to see him like this, it hurts just to say this. i use this speech to empower myself, it was incredible watching my dad fight a little harder to sit up longer, to speak longer, to smile for that much longer ment everything to me and my family - you hit a different note in his heart - thank you
    - early this morning the king in our family passed on to be with our forefathers, rest in peace father I love you, I hope that you're proud of me 🙏 ❤️

A year ago, I had a heart attack while I was intubated, recovering from pneumonia and COVID-19. When the doctors removed my intubation tube, they found that my vocal chords had not closed. I had no voice. Insurance would not pay for the intensive speech therapy i required, so I went to youtube and stumbled across this speech. I channeled my inner will to find my voice, and refused to let my circumstance silence me. I began by singing along to music videos as I lay there in the hospital (3 months). The nurses were very supportive, and as each day passed, a little bit of sounjd would come forth. Eight months would pass, and as I looked down upon my new born niece, I sang to her. Hoping, that one day, she would draw upon my story as inspiration to get her through the tough times that she will face. Thank you, Admiral, for your inspiration, and I hope that my actions will inspire someone else as well. God Bless America and world over.

My husband was a marine and a Navajo. He was proud of all his family that served. My family also represented the best they could be in the Army,Navy and Marines. My dad joined at 17. He felt ashamed that he was home and his brothers were serving overseas. My Grandfather had signed for him to go. I miss him so much. The National Anthem makes me cry every time I hear it. I am so proud of the strong men in my family, and my friends, who also served this country. I love you daddy.

The first time I heard this speech I was in drug treatment for heroin addiction. It touched a place in my soul and stayed with me. I would love to tell you that I got clean during that rehab stay and never looked back, but that would be a lie. I failed a few more times until I finally got clean and kept pushing on, and I never ever gave up. Today I listen to this speech again, this speech that I’ve shared with my 19 year old son and my 16 year old son as well as so many other people. This is the speech I will share with my 3 year old son and my 1 year old daughter one day when they are old enough to understand and appreciate it. The difference today, as I sit here listening to it, is that it resonates with me, deep within my soul. The difference today is I now have over 3 years clean and sober, because I never gave up. When times were the darkest, I finally was at my best. Today, I live a life I used to pray for when I was in my addiction. Today I am grateful, humble, hopeful, and proud. I may not be a Navy Seal, I am not rich, or famous, or perfect. I am, however, the very best ME that I can be. I am Heather Trostle, recovering drug addict, single mother, strong independent, motivated, and driven, to be better than I was yesterday, every single day. I’ve thought of this speech so many times when things were hard, or when I felt like giving up, and giving in. Real life is an obstacle course, it is a test, and I will never ever RING THAT BELL! ❤

Obey Jesus Christ or you will go to hell, turn to the Lord before its too late, if you don’t REPENT OF YOUR SINS then you will likewise perish in hell. All liars, fornicators, adulterers, idolaters, blasphemers, whoremongers, thieves, murderers, homosexuals, effeminate, etc, will not inherit the kingdom of God. Once you turn to the Lord, read the new testament in the bible, the gospels, to develop a relationship with God. God bless you all. Turn to Jesus, repent or perish, turn or burn.

There are countless like him that get up everyday and do their duty, first because it IS THEIR DUTY, and second because it is what they truly believe in, sadly the rioters & looters, those that would tear down any shred of history, have no respect for them. They at the very least scream horrible profanities at them, at the worst they throw chunks of broken concrete at them or swing clubs & bats at them, and even thru all of that the countless honorable & duty bound men & women do their utmost to remain calm & restrained in their responses. Not all are or were decorated SEALs, some might be a guardsman serving his country while getting a hand with college, a Fireman, a Paramedic, or the lowly Beat Cop, the one that when I was growing up parents used to teach their kids to respect, and to whom they told their kids to go if they were lost, hurt, or in trouble. What happened to that time? Are there bad apples in any of those groups, of course there are, because there are bad PEOPLE, and all those groups are made up of PEOPLE. Does that make the groups bad, when some miniscule number of them cross the line? On any given day, in my current profession, I interact with a half dozen to several dozen in some of those groups, and in terms from another life, "I would be proud go beyond the wire, or thru a door either in front of or behind any of them if the situation required it".

David L If the President Obama was 1/876th of Trump, we might not be losing almost 20 veterans a day to suicide because of how unappreciated they felt... Trump is FAR from perfect and certainly isn’t politically correct, BUT, he certainly didn’t become president to get rich, in fact there are numerous reports that suggest he is worth about 2 Billion dollars LESS than before he became President. How many other Politicians can we say did that? Don’t you wonder how and why most Politicians weren’t rich then got into politics and became millionaires?
President Obama did more to divide this country long before Trump got in... Unfortunately when we see brainwashed kids tearing down statues of people that did good things for them, and hating the Police based on false narratives, you realize how good of a job the left did to destroy America from within . So congrats on shooting the pilot of the plane you’re on....

I'm afraid it's too little too late. Parents failed this generation through attendance medals and participation certificates, focussing on feelings rather than competence. The result is lost young men, void of moral fibre and shameful of their masculinity, and confused young women, vain and corrupted by feminism to hate femininity. If all the media can be believed, the groundswell of destructive socialism will devour all that we built. Eventually the pendulum will swing back, but do we have to loose at least another 100 million people, like we did in the 20th century, to ideologues? Regression in the name of liberalism.

9/11 was an inside event, to justify military intervention in the Middle East to implement regime change to the petrodollar. As a military officer, you were brainwashed into believing the propaganda that was thrust into you. You will react negatively towards this comments because you have been brainwashed and indoctrinated, and cannot think objectively. You are incapable of independent thought.

    1. Start by making your bed [value small accomplishments].
    2. Find someone that helps you paddle [the ship].
    3. Measure a person by the size of their heart, not by the size of their flippers [body size, background, or social status].
    4. Get over being a sugar cookie [easily discouraged by inequalities in the world], and keep moving forward.
    5. Don't be afraid of circuses [where you can fail and face humiliation].
    6. Be prepared to slide down the obstacles first [take the risks].
    7. Don't back down from the sharks [afraid of opposition].
    8. Be your very best in the darkest of moments [don't lose calm and composure].
    9. Start singing when you are up to your neck in mud [give hope].
    10. Don't ever ring the bell [tap out and quit].

I’m not a marine, just a single mum trying her best, at times I felt completely overwhelmed with what was before me, wondering what on earth I was supposed to do to make this work. Your body is tired, you can’t seem to lift it anymore but you need to. Ive listened to this many times normally when I’m at my most tired. I wake up, make my bed and silently to myself say ..” first task of the day done”. Thank you Sir

My younger brother wants to be an Air Force pilot and he's having a hard time in his first year of high school, I found this video a couple years ago and I watch it often. I shared this with him today in hopes it will give him the strength that it gave me. Thank you for your timeless wisdom Admiral McRaven
