    Any recommendations as to how to place the new base on? Seems like the little tabs make it impossible

    Thanks, I bought My wife Glock 43X for her birthday last July and I got her the Mantis x with the mag base plate adapter for Christmas. I could not find any info on website about removing the mag base plate to install the adapter. This is the first semi automatic we have owned and I never messed with mags before. I knew enough not to force things. Info is probably in the gun paper work she has squirreled away somewhere but I wanted to surprise her. Thanks for the help.
    Side note. The 43X slide is a little difficult for her to pull back but she has been practicing. I think maybe the little S&W might have been a better choice.

      The more she shoots it. It will settle in and become easier. Another tip for people with smaller/weaker hands is to grip the slide and push the gun frame away from you. Instead of trying to pull the slide back with your off hand.

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  2 роки тому +1

      Did you get the baseplate off? If the Baseplate is still on, but the button is missing, and all you have is a hole on the bottom, you can still put a pin punch in there and lever the bottom off the same way.

    If those plastic catches are remove will the base plate stay on?

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  9 місяців тому +1

      I believe it will stay on. The insert with the button on it should keep the baseplate on. That is how almost every other manufacturer makes their magazines. However, I am not recommending that you remove those tabs. Glock put them there for a reason, and just because I don’t know the reason doesn’t mean they should be removed, lol!
      I might just do an experiment and remove the tabs on one of my magazines and take it to the range to make sure everything works as it should .

      @@davesgunchannel I bought a base plate for my magazine and that looks like the only way it would get on but. I wouldn't sacrifice functionality for cosmetic purposes until am sure it wouldn't destroy my magazine.

      @davesgunchannel  9 місяців тому

      I agree, not sure why they make them like this. You should try the Glock magazine disassembly tool, I bought one, and it works great. Here is my affiliate link: amzn.to/42HsHWK

    I can't get a punch to go down that far on my g48 mags without feeling like I'm going to break it with the force I'm pushing it to go down I've taken off many baseplates but can't get these off for this reason any suggestions??

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  Рік тому +1

      Jeremiah, from what I can tell, the new Glock 48 uses a different magazine from the standard Glock mags. I will try to find more info on how they come apart, but I am thinking it should be relatively the same as most other magazines.

    curious what is the benefit of doing this?

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the question. Removing the baseplate on the Glock magazine is necessary to clean it or to change out the baseplate for an extended baseplate if desired.

    • @synakal
      @synakal 11 місяців тому

      @@tmcueva If you are installing a magazine extension, instead of simply cleaning the magazine or swapping just the base plate, then yes.

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  Рік тому

      sometimes the magazine insert ( the piece with the button on it) moves the wrong way. You can still do it, it will just be trickier to find leverage inside the mag. Try a longer punch, it will be more likely to find some leverage on the inside.

    What's the point of taking the base plate off?

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  Рік тому +1

      The baseplate must be removed to clean the magazine or to install a different baseplate, as there are many Glock options. Thanks for the question!

    Use a brand new Glock mag, it was already half an inch off when you stuck the pin in there, all mine are brand new, fully sealed an not a centimeter off. Your method only works if the baseplate has been taken off before

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  Рік тому

      Bryson, thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment! All my mags were brand new the first time I ever used this method, so it does work on mags that have not had the Baseplate removed. It is actually the only method I knew about until I recently purchased a base plate remover tool.

    The ears make it impossible to get off any other method???

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  Рік тому

      All the tools I have seen to remove the Glock floor plate, are designed to forcibly pull it off of the magazine past the ears. You could carefully squeeze the sides of the magazine with your fingers or pliers, which would move the ears out of the way, but I would be very careful as to not crack or damage the size of the magazine while doing so.

    It don't bother you that it damages your magazines?

    • @davesgunchannel
      @davesgunchannel  Рік тому +2

      If your mags get a little dinged up when you’re maintaining them, it would be a lot worse if you need the gun and it doesn’t shoot because you failed to get the dirt out of your magazines and they do t feed properly!
