Just did it in 2 seconds. Excellent advice. I’ve done this before years ago with BAD advice from you tubers and wrestled the dang magazine for 20 minutes and wanted to scream. Thanks for the tip!!!!
Worked great for one of my mags, so thanks for the advice. The second magazine I was replacing the plate on the inner locking plate ended up dislodging and tumbling down into the magazine. I took my brass punch (same size, slightly softer) and one tap to the back of the plate knocked it forward. It's a little riskier, but at least that works as a good backup and is way better that using pliers.
Using this method right now to update the followers in (5) of my mags to the 9mm3 version. Work's like a damn charm, man. Currently using a 3/32 punch and a little finesse before I pry it forward
Just did three magazines in three minutes. No pliers and no wrestling. Small philips head screwdriver, shoved it down and pushed forward. Changed the bases in seconds. Thank you very much! There are still videos showing compression, they should watch this.
Thank you so much I finally got to take off the plus 2 baseplate off the bottom of the 33rd stick and put it on one of my Glock 17 mags greetings from Texas
One of the all time great videos...simple, to the point, well explained, and it works like a dream. I used this on my 17 round Glock mags and could not believe how easy it was. Many, many thanks for posting and sharing your information!
This definitely works! My only suggestion would be to use a thicker punch like a 1/8" so you don't bend your punches unless you know your punches are made of hardened steel.
I dropped mines . Everything flew out springs bullets & all thought it was broke it’s a factory 31+ glock magazine. But thanks to you I put everything back together
I was struggling with removing the base plates on my g19 for replacing with grip extensions, until i cane across your video. Couldn't belive how easy it was. I used a 7/64 allen wrench. Thanks for sharing!
While I acknowledge that removing the base plate is not a routine thing to be doing to a mag, I think I'd be tempted to file down the right angle point of the tabs a bit to make it removable with thumb pressure.
You could file it down entirely as it serves no purpose. Almost all other magazines rely solely on spring pressure and the locking knob passing through in the base plate.
Given the way it's made I doubt the mag was actually made to be taken apart at all, which would be the business smart thing to do as you would be forced to just buy a new one should something happen. Speaking of I have a mag that is brand new but the follower gets stuck and jams up the rounds. Would love to see what is going on in the mag but I can't remove the base plate without completely wrecking it. -_-
So after the glock tool bends like a coat hanger and the detent plate goes perpendicular what do you recommend? Done it twice and have watched a half dozen videos on how to do it without pliers or c clamp.
The way I did it on the 10 rounder all you have to do is put it in a vise trust me I did it wrap a tile put the corners and a vise push it back in there just the top part I mean the bottom part squeeze the corners while pushing down on the middle button and it will hold it all in place even the spring and the base plate comes off
These instructions worked great! I will say, however, that I had to use a 1/8 inch punch, the 1/16 bent with the effort needed to overcome the little side tab, and my punch is hardened as well. Looking more closely at you punch, it appears to me you used a 1/8 punch as well, not a 1/16.
man i already replaced my baseplates and no the mags dont fit with my flared magwell so im trying to go back to oem but that detent spring or whatever wont compress at all like I cant shove a punch in more than an 1/8th of on inch feels like I would need a hammer to get it down in there any further
You’re AWESOME man!... only possibly ruined 2 of my 3, G19-gen5 clips that it came with before I even got to use it.. because I can’t get the bases off them but the button will not return for me to start over from the beginning with your technique/PRICELESS ADVICE! Any suggestions, anyone?
put it in a vice slowly tighten while pressing down on the button hold it down until the button doesn't want to come off anymore tap from the other side with a flathead screwdriver and it will slowly take the plate off make sure it doesn't pop up on you but mind held tight enough that it didn't spring back until I took the tension off just the bottom half you got to kind of corner it in a vice trust me it works take your time turn slowly tighten slowly
Dude thank you so much for the video. I had been screwing around with that base plate on a brand new mag for 10 or 15 minutes and it wouldn't budge. Followed your guide with a punch and popped right off...so easy I wanted to kick myself. Thanks again!
It will come off, you have to give it some major juice. I have a Glock 17 that is only 4 months old and after shooting USPSA and doing mag changes in sand, I needed to clean my magazines out. The first one I did, I didn't think I could get it off but after really putting some muscle into it, it came of. The other 3 after that were easier to do since I knew what I had to do. Keep trying, you'll get it.
Use a vice put it in a vise grip just the bottom half make sure the rabbit tile around it and slowly tighten and if you cannot get the button depressed take a punch and press in hold it in while tightening on the device
The Glock tool is 3/32" not 1/16. This method may work with magazines that have been disassembled a few time but if you try it with a brand new magazine you will bend your Glock tool before the baseplate moves a hair.
Just did it in 2 seconds. Excellent advice. I’ve done this before years ago with BAD advice from you tubers and wrestled the dang magazine for 20 minutes and wanted to scream. Thanks for the tip!!!!
This should be at the top. Not the ones that show people using players or any other tools
Plyers*
. Pliers
This worked for me on a 16-round mag. I'm a 47 year old women and I have normal hanged strength. I used and I used an old allen wrench I had.
Holy cow. Thank you so much. Oh my god you just saved my hands a lot of pain.
Thank you sir. Lord have mercy. I wasted a lot of time watching other vids. Too easy.
This is why I check the tube first,
Thank you for passing proper knowledge in a quick fashion
Using this method right now to update the followers in (5) of my mags to the 9mm3 version. Work's like a damn charm, man. Currently using a 3/32 punch and a little finesse before I pry it forward
BEST VID ON POPPING OFF THE BASEPLATES!!! Note you can do it with a relatively thick Allen key if you don’t have a punch laying around!!
Thank you bro
Just did three magazines in three minutes. No pliers and no wrestling. Small philips head screwdriver, shoved it down and pushed forward. Changed the bases in seconds. Thank you very much! There are still videos showing compression, they should watch this.
Thanks for the help man. So much easier than using pliers.
Appreciate you making a video on this. Saved me a lot of time and a headache. Thanks!
I was struggling and this was very helpful. Thank you.
Thank you for your brilliance. This saved so much time and mag damage lol
I had an extension on my g26 mag that I couldn't take off but thanks to this I finally got it in 2 seconds
Thank you so much I finally got to take off the plus 2 baseplate off the bottom of the 33rd stick and put it on one of my Glock 17 mags greetings from Texas
I just took a box cutter and cut the damn thing off I couldn't get it to budge so I could add my grip extension to the mag LOL
Yea i CANNOT get mine off. it's driving me nuts haha.
Wow what a great method for removing base plates, thank you for sharing!
thank you for the video this most definitely was easier and very helpful versus the other videos I seen where they want you to squeeze the sides.
Tried with plus base plate and worked like a charm...excellent vid...subscribed.
Thank you buddy 👍 saved me a lot of trouble
I’m glad I watched this before I started poking mine with a paperclip. 😂 THANK YOU! 🙏🏻 So easy. 👍🏼
Thanks man used an Allen key and worked immediately, been messin with this all mornin lol appreciate yah
Thx for the trick... Changed out base plates on two G27 mags... Worked perfectly..!
Finally!!! Thank you brother.
Dude, Thank you! took me 2 seconds with an Allen key.
this works better on some mags than others. i broke a punch tool on a mag just a moment ago doing this, popped right off for another one.
Hugeee help. I done it with the same speed as you was got excited thanks man
worked like a champ!
Thanks man! Lol...i was getting no where with the pliers method :)
You made easy. Thanks for showing the process.
Perfect technique. You made this so much easier!
WOW. just did this to 2 stock mags... now they they are +4. thanks.
Nice job brother. Thanks for the info👍🇺🇸
Just did it. Simple AF. Great video
Great Video! You made it so easy! Thanks!
I don't usually comment on videos but damn this shit is awesomeness!!
Really works, best video ever
One of the all time great videos...simple, to the point, well explained, and it works like a dream. I used this on my 17 round Glock mags and could not believe how easy it was. Many, many thanks for posting and sharing your information!
Omg! So much easier! Thank u 🙏🏻
This is the way to do it. Thank you.
Thanks for the tip. Worked great for my Glock 42.
This saved my hands from potential arthritis down the road. Wish I knew about this before I added mag extensions to 12 different glock mags 💩
Dude….such a perfect video. Thank you.
Worked perfectly. Thank you!
I struggled with this on a 15rd Glock 17 mag. It has a factory block and short spring every other mag this trick works great. Just a heads up
This definitely works! My only suggestion would be to use a thicker punch like a 1/8" so you don't bend your punches unless you know your punches are made of hardened steel.
Thank god, I’ve been searching for a clamp to do this for like an hour, wish I would’ve seen this video earlier. Thanks for the help man!
Very, very helpful post. Thanks so much for showing us how to do that!
Worked to perfection!
Well, thank you! that just made my life sooooo much easier!
This video was super helpful.
Dude! So simple. Thanks!
Awesome video, great job!!
Wild.
Makes sense!
Thanks for the video.
Now that’s some good info!! Thanks a lot
What a great video!! Thanks for the info
Thank you! So much easier
It's worked great for adding my mag extensions! Thanks for this info!
Thanks for the video. That worked perfectly.
Good information, thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy Crap!! Lmao!! That’s the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time!! Woooooooooo!!! Yeeeesss!
Nice!! Thanks!
You’re awesome thank you
Thank you so much 🙏🏼
I use a mini wood clamp with soft rubber ends & then do that. I've tried without clamping it but I just feel like I'm going to break it
Thank you sir!🤜🏼🤛🏼
Can this be at the top of UA-cam? Some dudes using crazy tools to do this haha
You must have taken the serum they gave Captain America cause GAH DANG
Awesome video, thank you!
When I try to use a punch on the base plate it only goes in half inch and I can’t get it to go any further. Any advice?
Good job, right to the point.
While I acknowledge that removing the base plate is not a routine thing to be doing to a mag, I think I'd be tempted to file down the right angle point of the tabs a bit to make it removable with thumb pressure.

At that point try to find something to pull from the hole outward with a lot of force. If not may have to c clamp it
This wont work on 10 rpunder..you cant push down over spring plate.as 10 round is not staggered but center stack
The way I did it on the 10 rounder all you have to do is put it in a vise trust me I did it wrap a tile put the corners and a vise push it back in there just the top part I mean the bottom part squeeze the corners while pushing down on the middle button and it will hold it all in place even the spring and the base plate comes off
life-saver! Thank you!
Jesus Christ halfway into to the video and you finally start with the original intent
works great
Very correct and helpful.
This doesn’t seem to work on a ten round mag.
This is true
I'll try it on a 10 rounder
@@thetacticalagenda875 did it work? Because I'm also having trouble with a 10 round mag.
@@thetacticalagenda875 thumbs down on video. For not replying back
I just tried on a 10rd mag too
These instructions worked great! I will say, however, that I had to use a 1/8 inch punch, the 1/16 bent with the effort needed to overcome the little side tab, and my punch is hardened as well. Looking more closely at you punch, it appears to me you used a 1/8 punch as well, not a 1/16.

i have a g19 gen3 and it wont push through. Im applying a good amount of pressure too. any idea?
You’re AWESOME man!...
only possibly ruined 2 of my 3, G19-gen5 clips that it came with before I even got to use it.. because I can’t get the bases off them but the button will not return for me to start over from the beginning with your technique/PRICELESS ADVICE!

And did I mention I got the 10 rounder base plate off everyone seems to find it impossible to do
Dude thank you so much for the video. I had been screwing around with that base plate on a brand new mag for 10 or 15 minutes and it wouldn't budge. Followed your guide with a punch and popped right off...so easy I wanted to kick myself. Thanks again!
No problem! Glad it helped
Where’d you find this tool?
does this not work on a CA compliant Glock 17 mag?
Why dont my mags push in like that though?
Thanks work immediately
Love to see you do it with a 10 round magazine...
I tried it and I must have too new of a mag to get the plate off of it.
It will come off, you have to give it some major juice. I have a Glock 17 that is only 4 months old and after shooting USPSA and doing mag changes in sand, I needed to clean my magazines out. OMG THIS GUYS A GENIUS
Will this work on a Glock 48mag ?
Thank you!
Saved me 20 bucks thanks
The button on the bottom of my mags won’t press in but just a millimeter….Been trying to swap out mag plates for 2 days now 😡
The Glock tool is 3/32" not 1/16. This method may work with magazines that have been disassembled a few time but if you try it with a brand new magazine you will bend your Glock tool before the baseplate moves a hair.
Bro holy shit . Impressive.
