_"Now I realise, it's not just noise."_
*He's done it.*
Agreed, good stuff
He has won metal
It is not noise at all...Great music with great musicians.
That was what happened to my dad when he listened to Nirvana for the first time in the 1989 because he used to only listen to funk, soul, rap, and r&b
Some metal is just noise Metallica definitely is bars tho
I'm a 700 year old Chinese man, and I've been listening to metal since I was black
WTF? 🤣🤣🤣🖕🤣🤣🤣
Mah nigga
This might be the best comment on UA-cam
😂😂😂😂 The greatest comment I've read in 2019!!! *TOP 5 FOR SURE!*
🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏
😂😂😂😂
Best thing i've ever heard. " I think i just lost my Metal virginity." Yup Metallica will do that for ya.
Lots of us lost our virginity to Metallica...both heavy metal and actual virginity. 😂
To bad he wasn’t listening to pantera or obituary 😂😂
I think is lost it to nothing else matters, if that counts as metal.
@@rosetyler5368 I lost my virginity too don't tread on me
You hes white if he says "ya" instead of "you"
"Its actually relaxing" as a metalhead nothing pleases me more to hear than that phrase said by someone for the first time.
💖
🤘🤘🤘🤘
Bro I was literally looking for this comment ahhhhh like hell yea dude 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Yeah, I've never quite understood that. Maybe its the mathematical precision that is so comforting? BUT, it is super relaxing!
When you start to realize that watching people that have never heard bands you love has made you relive your very first experience
It's made me realize I've taken a lot of songs for granted having heard them my entire life. I can't stop watching these reactions!!
This is why I watch reactions. It's great.
So true! I love watching reactions for that very reason.
this man im currently in a hole right now watching reactions of songs i loved
This
I started watching Layedbak a few weeks ago randomly, I don't know what made me click it, led me here very quickly. Never watched reactions at all (outside of video gaming) but watching people listen to shit you love for the first time is actually awesome
I'm a 51 year old black man, been listening to heavy metal since 1984. Welcome to the club brother.
I'm a 46 year old white dude, been listening to heavy metal since the late 70's. Was fortunate enough to have been exposed to many genres from an early age . Metalheads need to experience funk, R&B, blues.
It's a brotherhood no matter who you are
@@hardcoremusichead1755 Late 70's? Damn dude, you got into it early~~we're the same age~~I wasn't exposed to it until about 82 \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/
I'm a 38 year old white dude, been listening to Metal since I understood what music was. In the early 90's, I developed an appreciation for hip-hop, R&B, and other so-called "black guy" music. I love watching reactions like this 'cuz it reminds me of my first time hearing artists like Snoop and Ice Cube, but from the other side of that mirror.
My friend played this for me in 87. Been a fan ever since!
When Shaq got hit with his first face melting shredding solo from Kirk, that was the proudest moment in my metal life. You finally understand what we've understood and felt for decades. Welcome to the family, my guy.
TRUTH
Kirk is amazing, and one of the nicest musicians I ever had the pleasure of meeting.
I want to make enough money so I can bring Kirk to his house as an amazing surprise LOL
Kirk is in the Top 10 of Guitarist of all time. He's heavy underrated been carry Metallica 40 plus years. 🤘🤘🤘

"what is democracy?"
"it got something with young men killing eachother"
shaq: thass tough
😂😂😂 I died at that part
HAHAHA tough
Lmao
It’s based on the novel “Johnny’s got his gun” and it basically tells the story of a man who lost his eyes, mouth, ears, arms and legs but miraculously survived. He was signalling with his head “kill me” in Morse code, but they left him to rot in his last days.
Idk if you gon reply cause this old but why tf didn’t they just put him out of his misery?? Goddamm that pisses me off so many people went thru fucking hell literally for war.
@@Jodyjo99 in lots of places assisted dying is still illegal.
@@jacksonconstantine5740 I mean shit in this case where the guy is basically dead but alive in his head and is telling them to just kill him to end the pain and suffering seems like the only humane thing to do. That’s all bad

True words right there!!!
Sep 2019, average ordinary white guy banging his head with a black man on a reaction video listening to Metallica.
Is this world peace?
Yes! This black man recently got into ac/DC
Come on with it brother. I've been on here listening to an orchestra cover Ah Ha's "Take On Me"

That was a religous experience
So true
The moment he relizes metal isn't noise. Man, that was priceless to watch.
Ikr. I remember playing a classical song on my iPod back in high school to one of my friends that listened to Katy Perry (yeah...) actually this one: ua-cam.com/video/sGnxbWvpueE/v-deo.html and he said the same thing after about 5-10 seconds...I was very disappointed, I thought he'd at least give it more than 10 fucking seconds... "sounds like noise" or some shit. I was like well my opinion of you has now decreased 5-fold lol. BTW, the movie that song is in, "Master and Commander" is very, very, very good.

Man.. I've been listening to metal for the better part of 40 years. I've even spent my time behind the microphone in a few bands. I just wanted to thank you. You just helped me see it the same way I saw it all those years ago. With awe and respect. Thank you.
you put that feeling into words which makes me enjoy this type of content.
A little fun fact the beat that Lars is playing on the double bass actually is code for SOS
Which in itself is a miracle because 9/10 Lars wasn't on beat when he played 😂 always having to restart songs because of it on tour
“I gotta get a guitar” everyone who listens to Metallica. 😂

If you gonna lose your metal virginity, Metallica is the best way to do it. There are others, but they all pale in comparison to these guys when it comes to their craft. Very few artists in the music world can make a guitar talk the way they do.
Robert Johnston I lost my metal virginity to Megadeth. Holy wars the punishment due has to be my favorite song ever .
I cracked up when he said that. lol. I never get tired of seeing people who lived moslty in a hip and r&b bubble their whole life, discover metal.

I can tell that he actually enjoyed this song and wasn't faking it.
"I just lost my metal virginity." That's fucking awesome.
Dude, your reaction to the solo, same as mine was the first time I heard it. Excellent choice here, this is one of the best metal songs ever written, IMO.

He wasn't bobbin his head. He was banging his head on the table in Morse code saying kill me
Wtf
The song is about a soldier in WW1 who gets blown up by a landmine and loses his arms and legs and ability to see, talk, hear or breath without an iron lung. But he's kept alive by doctors, trapped in his own mind, unable to communicate with the outside world.

Just a PSA.. do not drive on the highway listening to Metallica. Your gas pedal hits the floor every time! Crazy how that works

Billy Bong I think he was talking about the guy in the bed
Either he was bopping or he was dying (prolly both)
Thats the morse code they were talking about in the video. Only thing he could use was his head.
He morsed „kill me“
Billy Bong He wasn't talking about the members of the band, ffs! He saw Johnny twitching in a hospital bed, ltrying desperately to communicate...
Appreciate you for this. I'm 48yr old black man. And felt like an outcast since the 80s for diggin on heavy metal. Nice to see you appreciate the genre. Big ups to you.

When I heard “Fade To Black” I became hooked instantly.
My black friends on the other hand , they just didn’t get it.
Bro coming from a 51 yrs old white guy metal can b enjoyed by all. Keep rockin peace all

AYO Shaq...Metallica is my FAVORITE BAND OF ALL TIME! hahaha ...and I'M BLACK! You didn't catch it in this video...but there was a reason he was bobbing his head. In the war he lost his ability to speak and hear AS WELL as losing his arms and legs. He had no way to talk to folk..but remember he was a soldier right? The ONLY method he had to try to communicate with people was thru morse code (a series of dots and pauses like you see people tapping on them lil machines in war movies sending messages). When he was bobbing his head he was trying to communicate in morse code, and one of the soldiers standing around his bed in the hospital caught it, and realized that he was asking them to just kill him because he wasn'T capable of killing himself. This video is DEEP with meanings Bro, and "THAT'S TOUGH!"

Is about what's more up to date war there is alot more to it you may have to watch it a couple times or just pause it. It is very heart felt true statistics you can read and pay attention to who you see inthe video reacting with who and the lyrics. You learn alot about what is truly happening with our soldiers when at war and what they go through if they make it back home. You pay attention to all of these things it will reduce you to tears. I didn't care for it just hearing it on the radio but watching the video taught me alot more than I thought I new. I'll be 54 this Saturday December 1st 2018, I'm not to proud to admit when something can make me cry.
There is no physical pain that can but paying close attention to this video absolutely but I've always have had a great deal of respect for anybody that has served is serving or will be.

"I feel like I just lost my metal virginity"😂😂🔥
"I gotta call my Momma!"
I cried laughing so hard at that
Great comment!
Lil Code 😂👌
How have I never seen this until now?! Ive watched so much of your metal journey and never knew you started with THIS! F yeah!!
Watching this makes me feel like a proud father, seeing someone get into metal is so enjoyable!
Metal head here loving you even more for this shaq! I loved you anyways...
Sending love from the uk 🇬🇧 😘✌️
Yea I agree. I’m more of a 90s type (Alice in chains, nirvana, the melvins, sublime etc)
Even with my rap I prefer more of the 90s stuff
But I watch this channel cuz dude is funny and it’s bringing me up to date with today’s rap and England’s rap etc
But it’s cool to see shaq react to some Metallica!
Lilly the Service Chihuahua Same, switched off hip hop about a decade ago after I discovered metal properly (cos rap was trash) and now shaq is getting me up to date on uk & us hip hop.
I was here for the bars and shaq is funny af but now he’s doing metal too, I’m in heaven lol.
I was raised on that 90’s stuff (the best) and now shaq is schooling me on hip hop again.
I’m happy! 😁
MetalRocksMe \m/ Another metalhead from the UK! 🤘🇬🇧🤘🇬🇧
I'm a bigger metalhead than a rap fan, so I'm pleased with this, and a great song to start with.
Same here.
This Was The First Metallica Song
I Ever Heard Then Enter Sandman Was My Second

What I would give to hear this song again for the first time. It’s brain melting. The best thing ever.
