Lilly the Service Chihuahua Same, switched off hip hop about a decade ago after I discovered metal properly (cos rap was trash) and now shaq is getting me up to date on uk & us hip hop. I was here for the bars and shaq is funny af but now he’s doing metal too, I’m in heaven lol. I was raised on that 90’s stuff (the best) and now shaq is schooling me on hip hop again. I’m happy! 😁
"There's always deep meaning behind good music." I've been a musician for 30 years and a lover of music for 40 years. I've never heard that said any better!
"I just lost my metal virginity." That's fucking awesome. Dude, your reaction to the solo, same as mine was the first time I heard it. Excellent choice here, this is one of the best metal songs ever written, IMO. I always find it amusing seeing people get into metal for the first time and watch them realize how great it really can be. Welcome to the metal community dude!

I'm a 68 year old child of the "60's". I ran across your vids while browsing. You totally impressed me with your openness and approach to new music. I checked out some other reactors and you are the best I've found, I'm now a Fan and Subscriber. I've watched many more of you reactions but had to come back to the beginning of the new genre your exploring. Your reasoning is sound and I appreciate a young black man stepping outside his comfort zone. You've opened the doors to a whole new world for yourself. By the way I LOVE your reactions and you do need to get a guitar! My suggestion for a reaction is from a band that started out in a garage in Detroit. Grand Funk Railroad is the band and " Foot Stomping Music " is the song.
AYO Shaq...Metallica is my FAVORITE BAND OF ALL TIME! hahaha ...and I'M BLACK! You didn't catch it in this video...but there was a reason he was bobbing his head. In the war he lost his ability to speak and hear AS WELL as losing his arms and legs. He had no way to talk to folk..but remember he was a soldier right? The ONLY method he had to try to communicate with people was thru morse code (a series of dots and pauses like you see people tapping on them lil machines in war movies sending messages). When he was bobbing his head he was trying to communicate in morse code, and one of the soldiers standing around his bed in the hospital caught it, and realized that he was asking them to just kill him because he wasn'T capable of killing himself. This video is DEEP with meanings Bro, and "THAT'S TOUGH!"
I like when people don't keep themselves in a box and experience new things. Although metal is my mainstay, I like a little bit of everything. One of the best times I had at was rocking out with a black guy I met at a Dio concert.
gatorneer oh wow that makes since now cause once the guy mention Morse code n he kept saying help me etc I was like ok he’s tryna say something ..yeah that’s crazy I’m not into rock music but this one definitely had a message
Five finger death punch "wrong side of heaven" Is about what's more up to date war there is alot more to it you may have to watch it a couple times or just pause it. It is very heart felt true statistics you can read and pay attention to who you see inthe video reacting with who and the lyrics. You learn alot about what is truly happening with our soldiers when at war and what they go through if they make it back home. You pay attention to all of these things it will reduce you to tears. I didn't care for it just hearing it on the radio but watching the video taught me alot more than I thought I new. I'll be 54 this Saturday December 1st 2018, I'm not to proud to admit when something can make me cry. There is no physical pain that can but paying close attention to this video absolutely but I've always have had a great deal of respect for anybody that has served is serving or will be. You opened the gate do a true reaction watching this for the first time and let people see the great guy I just discovered with your open minded reaction to this video. There is no shame in tearing up in a reaction video we are all human brother and that is what people truly want to see. Your a good man. By watching your reaction to "one" I can tell you will realy be touched by "The Wrong Side Of Heaven" I have watched it a couple times but I can't watch it much more maybe once in a while it's got that strong of an impact. One is great.... No question. Just give me some Sepultura instead. Like even if you dont like a band in general, there are still at least one song you like. For me, it is One, and I like old Sepultura with Max over Metallica.
@@brostenen One of the great things about metal is the infinite number of subgenres. I do like Metallica, Sepultura etc. but where I truly space out is slow Doom metal or extreme black metal.
As a kid seeing this anti-war video play on MTV, this song took away my innocence. It was frightening, disturbing, yet compelling and opened my eyes not only to the pain and reality of war, but the potential pain and suffering this life has to offer. It’s definitely the most powerful song and music video I have ever seen. It’s perfect and timeless!

James Hetfield - Vocals/rhythm guitar Lars Ulrich - Drums Kirk Hammet - Lead guitar Jason Newstead - Bass guitar I don't know if anyone has filled you in on this, I didn't go too far into the comments. Jason Newstead replaced the position of Bass player after the tragic death of the original Bassist, Cliff Burton in 1988. However, after years of playing together, Jason decided to part ways with Metallica and has been replaced by Robert Trujillo. Also, another little fact, Dave Mustaine, vocalist for Megadeth, used to be a member of Metallica. But, due to differences in attitude and I guess several other issues, they separated and the two bands of the Big 4 were formed. (In case you're wondering, the big 4 are Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax.) If you want complete immersion in Heavy Metal, you should check them out. Thanks for the vid, man. Definitely made me smile. I was waiting for your head to explode during the solo. LOL
@Derek Frampton Right?! I've been into Metallica since the 80's, so I've kinda lived most of the history with them... Or at least in my own deluded little mind. LOL. You're right, you could go on for hours about Metallica, the good AND the bad. I'm not one of those who blindly follow a band just because they make great music, I also see their faults as well. I feel I would be remiss if I didn't at least mention the pyrotechnics mishap of "92 or the fact that he isn't allowed to skateboard while on tour. LOL.
Burton Died in 86 on the Master of Puppets tour in Sweden I believe. This is around the time I started to get into Metallica at the age of 10. When And Justice for All came out I was a hard core fan... The when the Black label came out, My dad took me to their concert for my 16th birthday.
@@jimtysonboatworks117 He did play bass until his death in 1986. Then Jason Newstead filled the slot until a few years ago when they had a disagreement about the time between records and tours. Metallica hired Robert Trujillo and Newstead went to play with Ozzy, whis is, ironically, where Trujillo had been before Metallica recruited him.
Welcome to the world of metal. Like in any type of music, there are some that will blow your mind, and there are some that will bore you to death. But there are some that have become the golden standard, the apex of music, and metallica is one such group. They have got a wide range of repertoire, most of their best work have slow but elaborate melodies seamlessly transitioning into agressive, power-inducing riffs. One metallica song usually contains enough material for 3 or 4 songs, so many different themes can be sewn together with great composition. Listen to "master of puppets", "fade to black", "call of ktulu", "enter sandman", "wherever I may roam". You clearly have the ear for great music, trust me, your musical understanding will widen considerably.

@@ryanmchenry6694 In the song it's a landmine, but in the actual film it was an artillery shell. Man, I hate sounding like that *one* guy.

Sending love from the uk 🇬🇧 😘✌️
Yea I agree. I’m more of a 90s type (Alice in chains, nirvana, the melvins, sublime etc)
Even with my rap I prefer more of the 90s stuff
But I watch this channel cuz dude is funny and it’s bringing me up to date with today’s rap and England’s rap etc
But it’s cool to see shaq react to some Metallica!
I’m happy! 😁

Dude, your reaction to the solo, same as mine was the first time I heard it. Excellent choice here, this is one of the best metal songs ever written, IMO.
I always find it amusing seeing people get into metal for the first time and watch them realize how great it really can be.
Welcome to the metal community dude!
There’s something really cool watching someone experience new music that you love
Its as if you listen to the song again for the first time, you know you love that song when that happens 😂
"Bro, I had friends in high school that always listened to this bro, and I used to always pick on them like 'bro why are you listening to all that noise.' But now I realize, it's not noise! Yoooo lol. I was thinking the same shit

Shit dude that was a great reaction. I watched this whole video with a smile on my face. So much fun watching people breaking into new stuff.

Spot on
AYO Shaq...Metallica is my FAVORITE BAND OF ALL TIME! hahaha ...and I'M BLACK!
I've heard this song before, but I've never "listened to it". Your explanation gave me a better appreciation for the video
No problem fam. I LOVE bars of all kinds too bruh. Glad to see Shaq step out on this one...

Is about what's more up to date war there is alot more to it you may have to watch it a couple times or just pause it.

War Pigs By Black Sabbath. It's mind blowing.
James Hetfield - Vocals/rhythm guitar
Lars Ulrich - Drums
Kirk Hammet - Lead guitar
Jason Newstead - Bass guitar
I don't know if anyone has filled you in on this, I didn't go too far into the comments.
LOL.
I thought Cliff was on base
Burton Died in 86 on the Master of Puppets tour in Sweden I believe. This is around the time I started to get into Metallica at the age of 10. When And Justice for All came out I was a hard core fan... The when the Black label came out, My dad took me to their concert for my 16th birthday.
Dammit, I dont know how or why I typed 88.... He died Sept 17, 1986. You're right.

Brilliant observation for sure.
You know it's a sincere heavy metal reaction when you say,
*"I got to call all my old friends from high school and apologize to them now."*
This channel has just gotten a whole lot better.
