TheTurtlee1 oh yeah no, I just heard it like the night before and forgot the full lyric, I understood what it meant that’s why I thought it was savage.
I've been listening to this song for 14 years and never noticed that's what he said. When I read that part I was like woah! That is some imagery there.
The pace of the song is to illustrate the cycle of addiction. The first part is the need and the control it has on the person. Fast and persistent . The middle melodic section illustrates the mood after a fix. Much more calm, relaxed and beautiful . Then it returns back into the demanding need and control the addiction requires. Until it controls and ultimately kills you. The way the music illustrates the cycle is actually quite brilliant. Just my interpretation.
From a musical standpoint having a slow part in the music makes the fast parts feel faster. And gives the listener a bit of rest. An entire album going full speed for 90 minutes would get incredibly boring to listen too.
“I’m ready for the solo!” Imagine knowing somebody is about to hear one of the greatest metal solos of all time for their first time. “Just wait friend!”
The slower part of the song is supposed to be a reference to the puppet giving into it's master (the drugs). That is why it is slower and more euphoric compared to the rest of the song, and then slowly wears off and builds back up and the first verse to follow it is the puppet accusing the drugs for ruining his life doing nothing but lying and ruining his life. The heavier parts of the song, to me at least, are a reference to being sober and feeling the urge to give into the drugs. It's brilliant and at the same time extremely sad.

Glad he was exposed to more music rather than just hip-hop, there are plenty of tracks that you'll never forget and will love. Ya know what they say, variety is the spice of life. Music is just food for the soul.
Totally agree. If only the majority of Metalheads were as open-minded as well. Then again, plenty of channels are starting to appear where Metalheads react to Hip-Hop, so change is definitely coming. Music is a universal language, and it comes in all shapes. I listen to almost everything, be it Metal, Rock, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Funk, RnB, Blues, Pop, Classical or even Video Game music (which has come a long way). I just can't imagine my life without music.
Shaq you know every song tells a story . You say it drives me crazy then it mellows you out, that's what the song is telling you about drugs you're high, your down, your high your down
I grew up on metal and never really looked up lyrics just enjoyed the musicianship and energy. Now as I get older and get back into it there’s so many layers to why it’s good it’s incredible.

Metal, for me is like Listening to power, your energy levels raise and it makes you feel good. Thanks for the reaction bro, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest. Keep up the good work.
That moment when you realize that the song mellowing out is symbolic of the high a drug gives you, and when it gets heavier, it's coming off the high and beginning withdrawals.
Deep and interesting way to look at.. I think its just going low so they can build it up again just for the riff.. Most bands just riff and then write lyrics on top afterwards to make it a song. They write the lyrics to fit into the melody not the melody to fit into the lyrics.. I don't think they compose the melodies with a meaning behind it but rather they compose it for how the music feels to them.. They feel the music rather than think it. But each to their own mate your take on the song is yours and no one can say you are wrong or right its your own musical journey lol
BrewersPackers TOTALLY AGREE on this one.. remember folks metal (especially progressive metal) is simply orchestra with electric instruments.. so basically you would follow a story and a mood.. ever wonder why most (or some?) metal musicians have great knowledge and music background of the classics?
Someone out here gets it. Gotta put him on the stuff that's great listening for all people and genres before you get to the aquired taste music. I seen Cemetary Gates referenced up there. Good song but there are better. Domination, 5 Minutes Alone, Floods, etc to name a few. He's not ready for Judas Priest and Queensryche yet. I consider that aquired taste too.
The calming middle section of the song is when the person in the song uses drugs. The song turns into a very beautiful melody but then the withdrawals come and the second half of the song is more intense than the first half.
fazorator Honestly bro as a white man I can say heavy metal music with strong vocals has always came across to me as someone who’s been through struggle and has strong emotions that come through that resonate with me the same way I believe rap music does in a different tone
"I guarantee I can listen to other metal bands and I wont get that same feeling." My friend you've only scratched the surface of metal. Once you go down the road and invest time into really doing your research around metal bands, different styles and different generations you'll quickly realize there's no other genre you can compare it to. If you had to pick a genre that was closest to metal/rock, it would he classical. They follow alot of the same patterns.
Yeah 100%! My old guitar teacher played a classical piece to me on his nylon string guitar, then whipped out his electric and played the exact same song, sounded like a proper metal song! Definitely made me appreciate and listen to classical more!
I had the longest argument when this CD came out with my husband about the meaning of this song. It's about drug use not the devil ! Lol He was always uptight.
One of the best metal songs ever and one of the greatest anti-drug messages ever in one song. There's probably 50% of us, no matter what age we are, seeing the lyrics and thinking, "holy crap, this is so on point." Right in your face. And bonus, this song is freaking bad ass!
Metal = life I love that you decided to do this, branching out to other music. May I suggest a few of my favorites from other bands: Pantera - Cemetary Gates Black Sabbath - War Pigs Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name Megadeth - Holy Wars... The Punishment Due And for another Metallica song: Fade To Black

No...no you're not lol
No the FACK You aren't
that's what's been happening to me too, these past few days I ve been subed
Since i been subbed!!! Hell yeah.... most Eminem songs .... especially FACK .... i knew he wasn’t ready for it !!! Lmfao
I said the same damn thing. He wasn't ready
“Betcha only Metallica can do that...” Now he’s learning 😉
Motörhead could have pulled it off... but then it would be Lemmy’s song.
@@KBzaz Nah. nobody can make the sounds Metallica can make. Years of music and these guys can do anything the best.
@@chancellorbressette4155 Agreed, there has been bands who have tried, and they just do not sound as good.
Wise Pops - Nah, plenty of other bands that are better than Metallica can do “it.” Metallica are one of the greats though, for sure. Legends, especially this album.
Megadeth can do more :D
Shaq: "I'm waiting for the solo
Me:"laughs"
Shaq: "hold up, what's going on?
Me:"that's your solo my man"
Love your reacts, man. I’ve been a massive Metallica fan since the 80s, and seeing you discover their awesomeness is like me discovering them again for the first time, man. Keep kicking ass bro.
I second that. Just saw this and I bought this album while so called "real" Metallica fans at the time said it was soft compared to Ride the Lightning. I always thought it was brilliant.
This dude makes me have hope in mankind. Epic review.
Joe Rents Bravo!!
Me too!
Glad he was exposed to more music rather than just hip-hop, there are plenty of tracks that you'll never forget and will love.
Ya know what they say, variety is the spice of life.
Music is just food for the soul.
KoNarTisT206 well said my guy
KoNarTisT206 well said my guy
Totally agree. If only the majority of Metalheads were as open-minded as well. Then again, plenty of channels are starting to appear where Metalheads react to Hip-Hop, so change is definitely coming. Music is a universal language, and it comes in all shapes. I listen to almost everything, be it Metal, Rock, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Funk, RnB, Blues, Pop, Classical or even Video Game music (which has come a long way). I just can't imagine my life without music.
@@Incog2k6 Same here. Good music has no genre 🤘
KoNarTisT206 💯💯
Shaq you know every song tells a story .
You say it drives me crazy then it mellows you out, that's what the song is telling you about drugs you're high, your down, your high your down
I heard this song 1000 times and never realized the chop your breakfast on a mirror line. Thats tough.
Coke all day
What??? Thats my favorite line
I grew up on metal and never really looked up lyrics just enjoyed the musicianship and energy. Now as I get older and get back into it there’s so many layers to why it’s good it’s incredible.
"Tell me this music don't make you wanna throw a brick at your mom" 😂😂😂
Do Nothing Else Matters by Metallica next please. It's an anthem! Been watching TysonD and he has got better and better. Thanks for finding him.
That cracked me up lol I read your comment beforehand and still didn't expect it when he said it lol
I laughed so hard when he said that! Because it's funny and true.

METALLICA - Welcome home (Sanatarium)!!!!!
I have literally heard this song thousands of times. I grew up idolizing Metallica’s music and I still get just as pumped as you EVERY time I listen.
Music can build bridges. This kind of open mindedness and culture sharing is what will heal this great country. Keep it up!❤❤
Yeah ! Well said!

Bro I can't get enough of your reactions. It's like rediscovering Metal all over again.... Awesome to feel your passion bro!!!! Your becoming one of us!!! Metal, for me is like Listening to power, your energy levels raise and it makes you feel good. Thanks for the reaction bro, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest. Keep up the good work.
James Hetfield has bars for sure bro. Some of the best lyrics in all of Heavy Metal.
Facts
Charles Lizana best rhythm guitarist of all time , master of down pick
That's for sure, and back in his prime, no one could compete with him
I seriously love this. Not many people are so open minded as to step outside their comfort zones of music like this
You are hands down the best reaction channel on the internet period man
That moment when you realize that the song mellowing out is symbolic of the high a drug gives you, and when it gets heavier, it's coming off the high and beginning withdrawals.
Wow!! I never thought of it that way. Thanks for the heads up on that. 🤯
BrewersPackers
TOTALLY AGREE on this one.. remember folks metal (especially progressive metal) is simply orchestra with electric instruments.. so basically you would follow a story and a mood.. ever wonder why most (or some?) metal musicians have great knowledge and music background of the classics?
Metallica - Fade To Black
Megadeth - Holy Wars
Pantera - Cemetery Gates
Slayer - Angel of Death
Alice in Chains - Rooster
Queensryche- Eyes of a Stranger
Dio- Rainbiw in the Dark
Judas Priest- just pick one
I don't think he's ready for Slayer just yet.
Nice. I’d also recommend “Walk” by Pantera
Deep Purple - Highway Star
Black Sabbath - Iron Man
I like it how he understood the message of the song in the first line
You gotta react to " For Whom the Bell Tolls"
Yeah
and like ride the lightning
Nash Foox that entire album is worth reacting to, so many good songs!
Nash Foox, I was coming here to make the same comment, ride the lightning for sure. Let's see if he gets that message as quickly. Lol
Hey Hey Hey Hey
Shaq "I'm ready for the solo."
me "which one?"
Shaq: I'm ready for the solo!
Me: You're not ready for the solo.
I literally said that out loud
Me: *loud laughing* no you're fucking not.
"Where my brick at?? I need a brick!" I'm fucking dead after that one coach
Who else got triggered when he paused right before the solo 😂
Evan Dahlin meeeee 😂😂 I was like "nooo dude, you paused at the wrong time"
Hahaha I was thinking the same thing!
lolzzz feek you bro
he gets a pass on that
Triggered as fuck!!🤣🤣🤣

That made my life....hes feeling it! 🤘
Fade to Black, or Nothing else Matters have to be on your to do list. I’m loving your channel.
Come on dont forget battery, welcome home, for whom the bell tolls, just to name some
Fade to black
fade to black is a must listen, nothing else matters isn't really metal, but its still a really chill song
The calming middle section of the song is when the person in the song uses drugs. The song turns into a very beautiful melody but then the withdrawals come and the second half of the song is more intense than the first half.
I love metal because it makes me feel ALIVE!!!
Sending love from the uk 🇬🇧 😘✌️
I love this dude he knows what's good across the board.
Rage Against the Machine - "Know your Enemy" You're welcome!!!
Dude so many RATM songs!!!!
Fuck yessssss
Ratm mic check
Bruh.. I'd love if he reacted to Rage..that shit has hip hop vibes but rocks so fuckin hard
Feel the Funk Blast!

This music want to make you throw a brick a your momma , wtf lololol
He describes it the best way possible lol

fazorator Honestly bro as a white man I can say heavy metal music with strong vocals has always came across to me as someone who’s been through struggle and has strong emotions that come through that resonate with me the same way I believe rap music does in a different tone
“How it get you so hyped and so calm”
This song takes you on a drug trip....
Fade to black or enter sandman by Metallica
War pigs by Black Sabbath
Or Holy wars by Megadeth
1. Sugar(by System of a Down)
2. Enter sandman.
3. Black hole sun
4. Run to the hills

"I guarantee I can listen to other metal bands and I wont get that same feeling."
My friend you've only scratched the surface of metal.
2 verses then solo...
Would Love to See
Pantera - Cemetery Gates!
No lie
@@Gingeyz agreed
And Walk, a lesson in respect
PANTERA sucks

Not even ten seconds into the first verse. Shaq: This is about drugs. Me: That was the fastest I’ve ever seen anyone get it!
You can tell this dude just loves music and can appreciate the nuances. Love this guy.
he says it in the beginning that he did some reasearch, so he knew before the song started
Said somebody tweeted him telling him it was about drugs.
It’s 2022 an this is the song Eddie Munson played in stranger things
ok
bro came here saying that as if he's the only person who watches stranger things
Metal = life
I love that you decided to do this, branching out to other music. May I suggest a few of my favorites from other bands:
Pantera - Cemetary Gates
Black Sabbath - War Pigs
Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare
Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name
Megadeth - Holy Wars... The Punishment Due
And for another Metallica song: Fade To Black
All the reactions videos are about the same song requests again and again, please do some diferent: Manowar - Bridge of Death, Manowar - Battle Hymn, Manowar - Carry on or Manowar - Kingdom Come, thank you.
Ravapra who cares? Plus the songs that “everyone does” are more important in tbe process of being introduced to metal than lesser known songs and bands

Metal's a hip hop distant cousin. They both societies outlaws growing up on the streets...
Exactly tho I'm not a great hip hop or rap fan, But these two genre were always one of the most honest form of music. I can't say much for the commercial bullshit they call rap these days... Even Metal and Rock had their horrible moments...
I was born in '94 and grew up on Metallica and finally got to see them on their Hardwired tour, welcome to the family!!
