    I agree with Lucy Gornick! This is the best, most explanatory video I've found on how to crochet the Celtic Weave stitch. I have only done 5 rows and my work is already GORGEOUS! This is my favorite texture stitch so far and I've been crocheting for almost 30 years! Thank you so much!

    It's not too easy to follow the steps, but repeating to watch makes it better. But may I suggest, that (maybe for the next project) you put the camera a bit closer to your hands in order for us/me to see more details and see where you put your needle? Thank you.

    I can't wait to do this for a blanket for my soon to be 17yr old great niece. I will be using Barnet velvet yarn variegated. I can see it praying I can do it. LOL The TFPDC is easy but the TBPDC will be tricky. Let me get my cheaters. 🤣Thank U You did explain very good.

    I wonder why double crochets are used in the cross stitch at beginning and end of each row?
    (Except a row where triples were used…. I wonder if that was a mistake?)
    I want to learn this stitch. I’ll try again, after Christmas, when I have more time.
    (This is a clearer video than the first one I tried.) 🌻🐝

      That was intentional :) It's to make the stitches along the edges tighter so they aren't hanging loosely.

    Hi hon, I love this video very easy to follow, only thing I'm confused on is why do you put bpdc in the 1st 2 stitches on the wrong side beginning and end but bptc in the rest?? Thanks so much

    • @HookedOnHomemadeHappiness
      @HookedOnHomemadeHappiness  3 роки тому

      That's because the bptr need to "travel further" I guess you could say. So they are a bit taller :) Hope that helps!!

  • @annettejohnson5425

    I love it , but it doesnt love me back, that 2 nd row is very tricky like you said. I guess im not catching the skipped back post trebles very well.

    • @HookedOnHomemadeHappiness
      @HookedOnHomemadeHappiness  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! I wonder if using a larger hook will make is easier for you to see the stitches? :)

    I am doing this pattern in the round and your video was EXTREMELY helpful for getting started with the first row of cross stitches. As I don't turn the work, do I just keep doing fptr stitches?

  • @TheRealAM1893
    @TheRealAM1893 2 роки тому +1

    So I seem to always have trouble with the last stitches of the rows (on any type of stitch really and it always seems to mess up my edges) when you say put a DC in the last stitch it is the last v type stitch and not in the stitches from the chain twos when you ch2 and the turn your work. Not sure if that makes sense hopefully it does. I just want to make sure when I do that last DC I am not supposed to put it in the last chain stitch from the chain two but the stitch right in front of the ch2 stitches that you see on the edges?

    • @HookedOnHomemadeHappiness
      @HookedOnHomemadeHappiness  2 роки тому

      The last stitch goes in the last dc of the row not the ch 2 :) The ch 2 doesn't count as a stitch in this pattern

  • @abigale5924
    @abigale5924 2 роки тому

    You said do it in multiples of 4, I did 60. I shouldn't be adding 2 for the ends to make up for that stitch that doesn't count, correct?

    Thank you so much for this video! I made a loop scarf but it's curling up on itself lengthwise in a way that hides the beautiful pattern. Any advice on how to avoid this for next time?

    • @HookedOnHomemadeHappiness

      Hi! You could try adding some rows of single crochet and/or wet block it :)

    I’m totally lost with the stitches, you can said at the end of the round how many are there, I don’ have enough in the second round or I don’t see well how many you left, is it 22 stitches you’re working with? Or did you add 2 stitches at the end so it matches 24?

    • @alphinery
      @alphinery 3 роки тому +2

      azay carrasco i messed up the first time too. i did 25 chains at the start and got the numbers of DC right for the 2nd row. there should be 2 chains and 22 double crochets for the 2nd row. hope this helps!

    • @HookedOnHomemadeHappiness
      @HookedOnHomemadeHappiness  23 дні тому +1

      Hi! Yes, I think you could. I'm not sure without making it myself. You would not be able to add increases (like at the top of a beanie). There would need to be the same number of stitches in each round.

    So when you are doing your double crochet stitch after the chain are you doing it in every third stitch?

    • @cloudyjmg
      @cloudyjmg Рік тому

      No. You double crochet in every stitch. You just skip the first two chains.

  • @CatsClawMasqurade

    I love the look of the Celtic Stitch, however, I don't like the look of the back of that stitch. I want the back to look exactly like the front. I found that if you do the front post stitch and the back post stitch in each row, the Celtic stitch will appear the same front and back.
