      @@3YearsApart1613,
      I just found out that there was a cuss word in it, then went back to listen in rhe video. I guess You already had it covered, because you knew about it. I could have sworn that they were some harder core band that had a bunch of cuss words, and was Christian hating or something like that, but I had looked them up, recently, and it seems that they're different from what what I thought. I would just have to listen to them, though, but it also seems that their songs are just a big, long story, according to what I read. What do y'all know about that?
      I read that they do go from one genre to another, too.

    That squeal noise on the guitar is called pitch harmonics - otherwise known as "squealies". I believe it is caused by picking the string with the flesh of your thumb as well as the pick.

    • @stephendavis5530
      @stephendavis5530 3 роки тому +2

      Actually, I believe it's called 'pinch' harmonics, NOT 'pitch'.......D'oh!

    • @eljaggerstanleynintendo917
      @eljaggerstanleynintendo917 3 роки тому

      They are more commonly referred to as artificial harmonics. And that's right, you need to slightly touch the string with both the pick and the thumb. Depending on how far from the guitar bridge you do it, you get really different sounds and textures

    Coheed and Cambria. A very powerful live act. I saw them as a part of Warped Tour a few years ago and they were absolutely amazing.
    The dramatic effect is the best visual drive for the music 🎶
    A really good pair of guitarists lead this one. And the almost medieval feel, while as Claire says is kinda generic, is proven formula for metal.
    “His voice sounds like a guitar.” Good point Walker. The voice in most is important to the band finding it own lane in very crowded music genre.
    “The Tree of Life, his hair.” Says Walker. Good observation, like the voice. Claire, you are really becoming a true Metal Head!
    Outstanding reaction from you two again. If I may make a suggestion, I would say some Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio on vocals. You guys got your ticket, enjoy the ride, Cheers

    They are seen by many as a progressive band. This track is part of an album which tells a story. Many of their albums are part of the same series which also go alongside comic books and novels also written by vocalist Claudio and his wife. The lyrics are very dark. The lady in the video has cheated on the character the singer is portraying. He buries her alive as punishment!!! This specific album is from the view of the writer about his life and personal demons.
    They are a pretty challenging band to get into fully but worth the effort.

      @@jeffschielka7845 Prog magazine, Progarchives, the opening line at their Wiki page amongst others.. That doesn't mean they are a prog band but prog as a genre is open to musicians/bands who create something a bit different with some complexity whether it be musically, lyrically or conceptionally. Also in interviews the band have put themselves into the "prog" genre, in fact I have seen some where they were surprised how some folks got angry at one of the directions they took on certain albums pointing out that progression means taking chances and trying new things. So quite a number of people including band members! Hope that answers your question.

    This is the first Coheed and Cambria reaction I've ever seen, so, yay ! All but one of their albums are part of a science fiction epic called The Amory Wars, which also has a comic book series and several graphic novels, all written by Claudio Sanchez. The image on the screens behind the band in this video is The Keywork, which features in the Amory Wars story.
    I saw them live at a festival a few years back, but didn't really hear them due to technical and physical problems caused by the 100+ degree heat of the August afternoon.

    So, yet again, a song from the 2000s, so why not let your two awesome children listen to...
    The Warning. Three teenage girls from Mexico, sisters. Their 2nd album, Queen of the Murder Scene, is a concept album, which is best listened to live because of the energy of their performance with an audience. The following links are from their concert at Foro Didi in what I consider their finest performance. Through technical difficulties, they push on giving professionals a lesson to aspire to. One particular technical issue caused a version of the second track I find more immersive than it ever was before. A failure with an acoustic guitar grants the song a whole other dimension I feel contains depth already there but certainly stronger.
    Anyway, here's links for your viewing and listening pleasure...

    I tried but was unable to get into C&C but they have one song that I think is exquisite - "Time Consumer." I find it intriguing that "Coheed" and "Cambria" aren't band members - they're characters in a story but the story in question is the the band's whole output - they don't do "concept albums;" it's a "concept catalog."

    I really enjoyed this video. I have not ever heard of this band before, and I agree with you both that it was a good song. MVR (Most Valuable Reactor) on this video goes to Claire for her reactions during the song, and her creation to Walker's comments. Walker, you are not wrong to talk about the video being a little weird. I would have to go look up the lyrics to see if it even made any sense with the message of the song. And I'll just say one thing--Walker is not yet old enough to understand how much drama there can be looking in a refrigerator. When you want something particular that you know you have recently purchased and you go to the fridge to find it, but all you can see are the other leftovers and the condiments and the milk and the eggs and by golly WHERE is THAT stuff!!!!!???? Then, my young friend... then, you will know the drama of going to the fridge. Great work you two--keep the reactions coming!

    On your own time, you might want to give *Cardiacs* a listen one day. (They're probably not popular enough to get you views for a reaction, and they're a band people tend to either love or hate - at least on first impressions, but they're truly unique. I'll give some links, and you can test out how close it is to impossible to put their music in some kind of categorical box.)
    For starters, here's *The Breakfast Line* (which has strings in it, if you're prepared to wait a bit). ua-cam.com/video/gZ47K6GjYJM/v-deo.html
    From here, each link goes in a reply - just to keep them separate. Best way to listen to all is right click, then new tab.
    ("Dad", this is for you, too, if you don't know this band. (And if you did, surely you'd have shown your kids their music already?) If Devin Townsend and Mike Patton have opinions you lay any store by, they're fans. So is Steven Wilson. Oh, and Dan Mongrain of Voivod.)

      *Sea Nymphs* - a side project without as much crazy energy. Nice weird music, though. ua-cam.com/video/K0xG8jEhQ9M/v-deo.html -- *Sea Snake Beware*

      Maybe you could call *Day is Gone* "shoegaze"? (and then maybe not). ua-cam.com/video/jjf5utNlRs4/v-deo.html
      (You should at least enjoy the video - the facial expressions, especially. See it says "MTV" in the corner? Something very strange happened here.)

      Secret track at the end of what many regard as their masterpiece - Sing to God. The song is *Foundling* (all about a ghostly bride - no-one knows where she came from) ua-cam.com/video/5zd9wL65LoY/v-deo.html
      (Another one that's on their more serene side. They don't have that many serene songs, so if that's the side you like best, you're out of luck - although there are quite a lot of piano covers out there that tame some of the wilder songs).

      I'll leave you to find out how deep and wide, serene and beserk Cardiacs are, on your own from here on. Their founder died this year, so they are gone and lost forever, now; however, they have a legacy in bands they've influenced. Contemporary Norweigian band (another one it's hard to label) *Major Parkinson* is an example. While you wait for them to finish their first album for what they're calling "the Boring 20's", you could listen to this version of *Munchhausen by Proxy* ua-cam.com/video/LQc7qbG4td4/v-deo.html

    I don't know a lot about this band. However, I thought the singer using a double-necked guitar in the video was very pretentious - guitarists don't use double-necks unless they really need to, they are heavy! At no point in the song does he switch necks, so it was just to look good. Even the best have done this, Ritchie Sambora in the Lay your hands on me video was the same - though being live footage it could've been so he could switch it to go straight into the next song. Regarding his vocals, I thought it was like Wolfmother's singer if he was doing symphony metal!
    Had a couple more recommendation, though it may be a bit too new for your range.. Organa's Rage by Ritchie Faulkener - it's a UA-cam video, and is just wall to wall most excellent guitar lead!
