Oh dip! And you liked it! Even better! Cymbals are turned up because I crash so much that I like to limit the flop. And also I have no clue what I’m doing lol. That ride in particular was way dryer that I’m used to. 22 inch kick. All natural sound because…. I’m 44. When I came up, you had to hit the drums and make them speak. That gets lost a lot nowadays imo.

Saw Coheed live last year in Birmingham AL and Josh @WeerdScienceTV smacks that snare with sooooo much power I loved it so much and they are great live especially little messing around in between songs with Claudio on the keyboard
I’ve borderline idolized Coheed since 2005. So damn near 20 years. They’re such a wonderfully organic and tight band. They’re just phenomenal.

Hands down favorite drummer. Josh’s playing has always had detailed nuances to his playing. He stated that he also is very hands on when setting up on tour. Not just relying on the techs.
He's the man. I met him on Neverender and he's a super cool dude. You can see just how insanely hard this dude hits in these videos too. Awesome

i remember coheed was the band that made me have that light bulb moment with how important dynamics and space are. one of the few bands that changes their sound pretty much every album and it's ALWAYS good
Coheed and Cambria have been my favourite band for nearly 20 years, and while every member of the band, past and present, have been incredible, Josh has always felt like the heart of Coheed. Whenever you hear him talk about the band and project they are working on, he always sounds like the biggest fan of what they are doing. He stepped away from the band for a while and was replaced with Chris Pennie, with Taylor Hawkins recording one of the albums due to contractual issues, and Chris is an animal behind the kit, he just wasn't Coheed, Josh is. I've also met the band a handful of times and all of them are absolute sweethearts, always happy to see fans and have a quick chat before kicking ass on the stage. I'm so glad to see him getting some love here!
Coheed is my favorite band as well. Since 7th grade and I'm 31 now. Got to see them on the last stop of the tour this year in LA and it was fantastic.
Dude I was literally about to come and comment “If Claudio is the brains of Coheed and Cambria, Josh is no doubt the heart”.
Coheed did not “feel” the same while he stepped away.
Exqctly Josh knows how to allow that pop bounce ebb and flow to each instrument and each hit. 🔥truly blessed to have him as a part of Coheed.

Josh is definitely one of my favorite drummers ever. I love his style and his setup. I'm definitely a simple man when it comes to playing drums, and Josh is a master when it comes to making the most out of what you have. He inspires my playing in a big way.

I've been on a Josh binge since Drumeo posted their hour long interview with him last week. Was happy to discover his personal channel and these playthroughs. I hope you get the chance to watch the Drumeo interview, and I also wanted to say thank you for the tip about relaxing your jaw. Not that I'm a drummer, but the moment you said that, I realized that I had my teeth clenched for literally no reason!

So glad you got to this! Josh is a beast. Honestly, Coheed not only met, but EXCEEDED my expectations on this most recently album. Just another reason that they are a phenomenon band.

what i like about Josh's playing is, many moons ago i heard him talking about influences/growing up playing along to feel-based/nuanced (but not in your face technicality) music like Sly & The Family Stone, and he liked the single pedal and open handed playing because having a good feel was super important to him...I love it and even now, his parts always sound like it was written specifically to compliment the music being played by the band & section of the song. nothing but love for this man

Josh is an amazing drummer, and person. Hes genuine and will talk your ear off if you give him the chance to. In addition to his drumming, I'd suggest giving a signal boost to his other project, Drum Set Confessional. He's dealt with addiction a lot in his life and creates DSC to give people a platform to be open about their addiction and recovery.
The fill at the end of the phrase in Andrew's video from 6:26-6:34 just kicks so hard every time!

Good shout to make a video on Josh he is my favourite drummer, along with Will Bowerman from Brontide. But Josh has so many tasty drum parts he's written over the past 20 odd years and Coheed spans so many genres. Best band.

I am not a drummer, but it seems a lot of drummers are time keepers only, there to keep the frame work for the band to create in.
Josh is like a surfer, he doesn’t seem to build a frame work, he lives within the waves.
Again I have no musical background so I know nothing, but it just makes sense in my mind . Haha

Taylor Hawkins also helped record the drums on one of their records Good Apollo I’m Burning Star IV: No World For Tomorrow. Josh left the band due to a chemical dependency and Coheed needed a drummer. Since Josh has come back he still nails the songs he didn’t write.
I have a stick I caught at a coheed concert, but I think it was 2008, so it wouldn't have been josh I'm pretty sure. Love their sound and creativity

As someone who idolized metal drummers for a long time, he won me over through time, especially when they had chris penne and the soul of the band felt like it was gone. Sure dude is a technical drummer but that feel was gone for those albums, the new albums have such a good feel because of josh

Had the opportunity to buy Josh’s premier genx set used on, I think, the first 2 albums in the early 2000’s. Unfortunately didn’t pull the trigger as I had just bought a new premier set.

He's a left handed drummer, other than Ian Pace, you don't see many of them. Unlike Ian though, Josh keeps his Hi-Hat in the normal right handed position!

Just re watched and bro im so excited for you because this isn't even close to a real representation of Joshs abilities and style. Their older music has some of the real jems. And even anything from the last album. This is just kind of slow and not a true representation of his drum style. I really hope you go on to listening to other classic Josh eppard playthroughs and see his range.

Although I would suggest listening to something from an earlier album just because its their best work but for real its nice having someone react to something other than that one boring overplayed song 😅 trust me im a decades long huge fan of this band and its irritating that no one listens to the velorium campers or the willing wells and same with other bands like The Dear Hunter or bayside. Check out coheeds back library its phenominal

I GoPro-ed a song in a gig (its here on UA-cam on my channel,) and I realized in at least this song, I subconsciously hum during some of the parts. Much to my dismay it was out of tune ROFL. Sound quality isn't great either (a testament to how bad stage sound can be at bar gigs... check at your own risk for the laugh at least.)
