Coheed and Cambria are characters in a science fiction that the band created. Every song is piece of the overall story. So you're only getting a little bit from this one song.
In Iraq in 2009 this was our favorite song to listen to while rolling out of the gate to go on patrol. We had a comms guy wire up our radio's so we could listen to the ipod in our headsets. Loved this song.
thats crazy when my buddy got back around that time from irag i showed him this band and he told me he already knew about them. when i asked when the hell he started listening to them he told me same thing
... Your garage was the Start of one of the Greatest stories ever told of modern time... you let blossom what has become..one of the greatest bands of this era... i thank you soo much... you're a GOD
Did not expect to see you to react to this band. Coheed and Cambria are my all time favorite band. They are a progressive rock band but they cover a lot of genres, some poppy tunes, some metal, some punk, but they always do it so well. For this song in particular it's definitely a tragic romance where the writer of the song, the lead singer, is writing about betrayal. The way he deals with these kinds of emotions is to put them into his over arching story that the albums are based on and decides their fate. The "before I hope you die" part is a plea to the one who betrayed him to make amends before he kills her off in the story and therefore cuts all ties with them in his life. A lot of their songs have dark lyrics and some have upbeat catchy music to create a sharp contrast to the subject matter. BUT they also do ballads and straight up love songs, especially in the later albums. They've got something for everyone! Most people don't like his voice so they brush the band off completely but to me it's such a superficial way to ignore a group of extremely talented artists giving it their all. But I say this with extreme bias because I love them.
I think you’d really enjoy their song “Wake Up”. It’s quite an opposite experience to “Welcome Home”, yet a beautifully written piece that contrasts this perfectly.
Claudio wrote this song during a rather bad breakup, trying to express all the different thoughts and emotions running through his head at the same time. Anger, despair, hope, pain. He then attached the dialogue of the song to his epic space opera (The Amory Wars) when two of the main characters felt betrayed by the other. FYI Claudio ended up marrying the woman he was breaking up with later.
I nearly choked on my drink when you couldn't figure out where cambria was. The band's name derives from a series science fiction comics written by frontman Claudio Sanchez titled The Amory Wars. Coheed and Cambria are the first names of the story's two heroes, whose story is used as a narrative for each of the group's albums. They chose the name during a 1998 trip to Paris.
Progressive Rock. It means super talented musicians who are so through the proverbial looking glass that they don’t make sense to most of us. Mother Superior is epic. Especially the tiny desk performance. These artists are so ahead of us we must be drawn in by what we hear and then contemplate what was said. I know I’m late.
The songs fallow a comic book series that the singer (Claudio) wrote called The Amory Wars, coheed and cambria are characters in that series. Alot of ppl consider them to be prog rock in genre but in my opinion they are their own thing... hope to see u react to another one of their songs.
I first heard this song when I owned the Rock Band game, where you can play guitar and drums. But turns out the nice, very professional photographer at worked LOVED THESE GUYS. Apparently they're from Massachusetts or thereabouts. And the voice? WHAAAAT???? This. Is. Metal. Maybe C&C is Prog Rock, but this song would be right at home at a heavy metal stadium show.
welcome to ‘The Fence’ dear 🤘🏻🔥🍻 take a dive, this band has soo many eclectic & diverse tracks. check out ‘The Dark Sentencer’ & ‘The Gutter’ back to back. he’s got a whole graphic novel series with all this, it’s pretty wild
Coheed and Cambria is such a mind fuck that i dont even recommend them to friends anymore. You can listen to their first 4 albums and then read the graphic novels the front man wrote and everything hits different. One of my fav bands but if you dont have 100 hours I totally get it
I'm not a huge fan (not because I don't like it, just not familiar with all of their music) but this song was always amazing to me. Great riff, great vocals that are very 80s sounding to me, which I love.
Story of the amory wars story that Claudio Sanchez the lead singer wrote. Its a love story tragedy ect sci-fi novel now but all the songs are written for and about. My favorite song is rise nianisia (cut the cord)
Have gotten to see them live a handful of times, incredible every time. The first time though I got stuck in the crowd. I am not a light woman, 240 lbs at least at the time.... as soon as this song came on, the crowd rushed forward and I was picked up off the ground. It was the weirdest feeling ever! Then my husband quickly pulled us out and we went and sat like the old people we are. :P "A Favor House Atlantic" is my favorite, and I will admit my husband was a huge fan when I met him and I thought they were silly, the voice was so weird to me - but I have grown a lot. My favorite singer is Kate Bush and she's unique for sure.
The 1 and only time I crowd surfed was to this band (didn't really have a choice, my 2 friends picked me up and made me haha) at the Electric Factory in Philly. I was wearing a hat and some douche took it off my head mid surf and I never got it back.
Those guitars do have two heads on them, so calling them a double headed guitar isn't **wrong**, just not he most accurate lol but screw gate keepers, call em what you want! As far as the band's name, it is a reference to the comicbook the lead singer (Claudio Sanchez) created. It is also the subject of all their music and lyrics. So when you hear stuff like, "I hope you die in your sleep" or "I want to watch you bleed to death" or whatever horrible stuff, those are the characters of this space opera talking to each other or themselves, not actual members of the band hoping actual harm on someone.
It's not a pretty story, but it's a beautiful song. They have such a neat sound. I saw them live and this is pretty much exactly the way they played it. My favorite song from this band is Old Flames. It's got a great rhythm and it the vocals are just amazing. Heckin catchy. The music video is very cool, as well.
If you enjoy the operatic rock, check out Queensryche, Operation: Mindcrime. They were amazing and the lead singer, Geoff Tate, is a masterclass on rock opera.
It's absolutely difficult to break down the lyrics in just one of their songs, since it's just part of an overall story. But you did an amazing job/review of this piece. Hope to see more!
alot of fans don't really know what this is actually about so its ok lol they get the part about how the albums are a big story but this song is actually about the "writer" of the story and his breakup, the whole album is basically about how events in a writers life shape the story. Also Coheed and Cambria are characters that are based off the lead singers parents.
Good morning Britt I've been enjoying your Harry Mack reactions but now that you're all caught up I have a suggestion on one I've something I've been watching for a couple of weeks now a group of kids singing well two kids actually the name is Biko's Manna. I'm pretty sure that's how you spell it. Check it out let me know if you've already reacted to him or not. Maybe I'll see the reaction thank you keep up the great work
I love the album version too, but my favorite performance I've come across so far is "Coheed and Cambria - Welcome Home - Live at Hammerstein Ballroom". This Guitar Center Session does no justice to the song, and the singing style used here just seems off and out of place.
For context, the song is about a man who is not well and is writing the story of their other songs and albums. The writer has an ex girlfriend and is delusional. a Demon has convinced him he needs to kill off a main character, but he thinks it's the girlfriend, because he thinks his obsession with her is preventing him from finishing his story. it IS dark, but it is just a story.
this song is about a step in the story about coheed and cambria trying to make things right everywhere. it's ultimately about being the best person you can be within the limits of your abilities, and blame for going sideways (if i'm wrong C&C fans please correct)
I agree, this song gives me orchestra/opera vibes for sure. Even in the lyrics. There are so many songs to dive into with Coheed, but this is a great start. I'd go to something like No World For Tomorrow or The Suffering next
long story extremly over simplified... this is what happens when dude breaks up in real life and tries to kill off the angel warrior htat represents his ex in the story hes the god of.

Thank you for your service and especially those dangerous rides. You guys are very much appreciated.
thats crazy when my buddy got back around that time from irag i showed him this band and he told me he already knew about them. when i asked when the hell he started listening to them he told me same thing
I had a dope truck commander who was also our comms guy. Rigged up something similar. Camp Victory, Baghdad 2005. o7
My oldest son went to high school with a couple of the band members and they preformed their first concert in my garage!
Seriously??
That’s so sick
Can I have YOU'RE autograph. Lol
... Your garage was the Start of one of the Greatest stories ever told of modern time... you let blossom what has become..one of the greatest bands of this era... i thank you soo much... you're a GOD
Omg this is an absolute treat! I love people checking out Coheed for the first time

Wow, how elitist of you. I'd venture to guess that 99% of Americans and even most of the people in the UK wouldn't know any of that.
@@willvr4 I googled the paragraph. Lol
This is a rock opera science fiction basically.. with so much talent.
gotta love me some coheed. claudio and the boys are amazing. should check out the accoustic set "from here to mars" ❤❤ it was played at my wedding😊
The running free is also a great song by them.

Next do a reaction for Oktaf Kanis - Come On
This song also got a huge boost thanks to being a part of the soundtrack for the animated movie 9
welcome to ‘The Fence’ dear 🤘🏻🔥🍻 take a dive, this band has soo many eclectic & diverse tracks. check out ‘The Dark Sentencer’ & ‘The Gutter’ back to back. he’s got a whole graphic novel series with all this, it’s pretty wild
You nailed it. By the way you are a rockstar too. Seen them live multiple times. They do not disappoint.
Coheed and Cambria is such a mind fuck that i dont even recommend them to friends anymore. You can listen to their first 4 albums and then read the graphic novels the front man wrote and everything hits different. One of my fav bands but if you dont have 100 hours I totally get it
Best use of my time, I dove in deep 5 years ago
I'm not a huge fan (not because I don't like it, just not familiar with all of their music) but this song was always amazing to me. Great riff, great vocals that are very 80s sounding to me, which I love.
Very good!! I enjoyed this!!
You reading the lyrics had my DYING. 😭😭😭
Definitely had to like the video after that.
These guys are musical and lyrical genius, like seriously on Bach and Bethoven level
Story of the amory wars story that Claudio Sanchez the lead singer wrote. Its a love story tragedy ect sci-fi novel now but all the songs are written for and about. My favorite song is rise nianisia (cut the cord)
Beyond Awesome 🙏

greetings from Uruguay great video 🇺🇾❤✌️😎🎸🎸🎸🎸
COHEED AND CAMBRIA?!?!?!❤❤❤❤Tres cool, mon amie!! 😅

this is the definition of a rock opera
Not enough coheed reactions out there. Hope you do more!!
If you enjoy the operatic rock, check out Queensryche, Operation: Mindcrime. They were amazing and the lead singer, Geoff Tate, is a masterclass on rock opera.
I wish he would bring the Medusa guitar back that is one of my favorites.

Never clicked a notification faster 😂
Prog Rock, (progressive rock). There's a whole story with all their music in the form of several graphic novels.
The Main riff of this song is inspired from a piece of music from like 1730
Would be so appreciative if you would react to Elvis "Any Day Now". I really believe you will love it! Thank you and God bless!

A change of pace. Two by Marc Antoine
Latin Quarter
Sunland
one of my fav songs to play on drums. its so easy, but its not lol
i still prefer the studio version, so much better
I love the album version too, but my favorite performance I've come across so far is "Coheed and Cambria - Welcome Home - Live at Hammerstein Ballroom".
This Guitar Center Session does no justice to the song, and the singing style used here just seems off and out of place.
Please, you gotta react to A little peace of heaven by Avenged seven fold😉
Next reaction Putri Ariani again girls..
This is the daughter singing a Beyonce song when she was 13 years old

It's literally a rock opera. So is Claudio's hair.
this song is about a step in the story about coheed and cambria trying to make things right everywhere. it's ultimately about being the best person you can be within the limits of your abilities, and blame for going sideways (if i'm wrong C&C fans please correct)
The Girl in this song is actually his Wife now...
Coheed is considered "Prog-rock"
They sound similar to rush
You think so?
@@dschlopes2734 pretty much , yeah

This live version is early Zach Cooper-era Coheed.
I’m here for the organic first-listen reaction.
Glad you enjoyed!
Prefer studio version tbh Solo sounds way better
This is prog
long story extremly over simplified... this is what happens when dude breaks up in real life and tries to kill off the angel warrior htat represents his ex in the story hes the god of.
He really distorts the enunciation of his lyrics. I hope it's for a reason. Very hard to follow.
Just the way he is
