Love the coil split mod. Great idea. I'm doing exactly the same when I pick up one.
I can’t remember if the stock pickups are 4-conductor or not…think they are but not sure. If you’re replacing them then no worries.
I rebuilt the special with all stainless steel parts,, replaced bridge pu with Duncan JB and pot . It is the baddest ass guitar in every way

I looked at one of these yesterday...I wonder how easy the frets would pop out. It would be great with stainless steel frets.
I’d imagine no different than any other neck.
Mr Eric the change it's amazing with the trem and the 490's wich it sounds very clear and brilliant!!..my colour it's red but this colour looks shiny!..what's your oppinion about the neck shape and profile..thank you!
Thanks! I dig the neck…I have so many Kramer’s though and the necks are all pretty much the same so I’m very used to it. I checked out a red one when I got this one, but the red one was noticeably heavier than the purple. I usually go with the lightest one if I can in any guitar.
Man,I wish I had seen your video before I replaced my pots with DiMarzios, I had the exact problem you said I was going to only I use the drill bit because I didn't know about a Reimer and let's just say it didn't go that great. I bought a pacer vintage which was a lot more than a classic, it had sharp frets on the ends to the point where the strings were coming off the fretboard hanging on getting stuck under them.The coming off the fretboard was my problem because I had wider necks on my Jackson's and I was used to that, and had to lighten up my touch a bit I've gotten used to that. The truss rod was so far out of whack I had to make several adjustments on it, sometimes you can play clean other times its buzzing like crazy no matter how many adjustments I've made, the electronics were horrible,not the pickups, but the wiring, the wiring inside which was horrible just like the pots, pots were all loose and noisy as is the switch and now it's cutting out. After a month and a half of working on it and setting it, changing the wiring and one of the pickups in it it's finally settling in in becoming decent to play. An issue I have with it and I don't think this was the guitar itself but it was very susceptible to humidity changes, it would go from 28 to 55 or 60 percent humidity in my apartment from day to day, and I'm sure that didn't help the playability any. That didn't appear to affect my Jackson's too much which have binding on the neck and the frets didn't seem to pop out like they were on the Kramer. The first guitar I've had with a Maple fingerboard so I don't know if that was the issue or not. The floyd on it, it's supposed to be a 1000 and it stays in tune much better than a Floyd special, however while I just set the action the paint wore off the posts and it looks like the zinc alloy the specials are made out of which worries me. Aside from all my issues with my guitar, you're playing and your tone is awesome I'm glad you haven't had as many problems with your classic as I have with this vintage Pacer.

Jeez, sorry you’re having so many issues with your Pacer. Your Jackson may have Graphite reinforcing rods in the neck - some of them do - and that could be one of the reasons it’s neck is more stable. I imagine that the wood Kramer is using might not be as dried out as higher-end guitars use which could also be a reason it’s more susceptible to climate/humidity changes. My Pacer and the hard tail Kramer I have took longer to “settle in” than my white Kramer did I remember, but they did seem to become less finicky after a little while. I guess if the switch they send you seem cheap, you could think about going ahead with a standard (i.e. larger) switch and ream the hole for it? Wish you luck with it!
When you changed the tremolo did you have to change the inserts in the body ?? Or did you use the same
I did change the stud inserts in the body, but I only did because the new tremolo came with them…I don’t think there’s much of a difference with the inserts. The studs yeah probably a little harder material, but the body inserts are probably pretty much the same.
I’ve replaced inserts before (I use a drill press to slowly press them into place).

Did you keep the trem floating or did you make it dive only. If so how did you make it dive only
Dive only…it’s not recessed so it’s easy to just deck the tremolo.
What size are the tuning machines?
Just standard size (non-vintage).
Hey Eric as I mentioned in my other post my switches going bad
and I'm having a hard time finding that exact style switch and the ones I did you find have a lot bigger opening and I didn't want to drill them but now that I know about the remor I would do that but when you replace that tune with the switch that use the same type of switch or just a regular mini toggle switch and did you have any problem with having to enlarge the hole for that? I did contact Kramer/ Gibson about the switch cuz its only about two months old and they are supposedly sending me out a new one in two weeks, but I'm worried it'll be a little piece of junk like the original one, it hasn't been that great since day one.
Edit: the switch they sent me is how much better quality than the one that was in the guitar thein the first place. It actually said made in Japan on it and it's pretty solid and hada nice click and feel to it with no noise when switching it.
Oh man…I forgot exactly where I got my switches at…I know it was on Amazon but don’t remember the seller. They were pretty inexpensive though so I don’t imagine they were anything special. I don’t remember having to enlarge the hole for the switch like I did for the pots though.
What strings on your pacer?
NYXL 10/46 on everything for me.
