I'm so glad they still play this song diamond head deserves more love.
Indeed + specially this time Bring The full Versión in 72 Tour.
They're millionaires because Metallica covered the song...
According to Brian, the royalties that he receives from the DIAMOND HEAD back catalog, including the METALLICA recordings of his songs, are enough for him to live on. "It's my biggest source of income," he revealed in a 2019 interview. "It's great and I don't know what I would do without it. It gives me the freedom to do what I like. I'm very grateful."

One of the best metal solos ever and played to perfection. All hails Brian Tatler.
It did sound bloody great didn't it
it's HIS solo, and did he own it or what, few, take that kirk, haha, jk kirk rules.
Tatler. What a player. Diamond head live were brilliant.
One of my favorite solos of all time and kudos to Brian for composing it... but.... sorry, Kirk haters...
Kirk plays it better. 🫣
Finally!...they played it in full length! 🥲
They've done so the last 3 times it's been played.
When I got to see them in Lisbon I have waited for that song and they didn’t played it 😢😢😢
They played it in full in Hollywood Florida a couple of years ago
Very Rare.

People can say what they want about Metallica but we should all be grateful they are still together and still touring. Because the day will come when they'll play their final show
Will be the saddest day ever
Sad, but true!!

@@brianthompson9041 😄 🤣 couldn't resist!
hopefully never, Metallica is the best metal band ever, and yeah, they invented it, it's theirs, yeah sabbath had the guitar sound but Metallica really invented full on metal, esp with kill em all, the speed was never done before that.
This venue is like 30 minutes from the city center by bus, and you could hear them play as clear as day from there. So good.
more like 15 minutes by bus and 8-10 minutes by car
Metallica has one of the most powerful amplification systems in the world!
I still go back an watch the 1991 Russia video, nuts!
@@RedWhiteBlueGamin perhaps when it's not Tons of Rock 😂
Couldn't afford it, huh? lol
7:49 you can see that James is genuinely excited and in the zone. The joy of music.
he´s always like that
“One of the heaviest riffs ever written. Thank you for that, Brian.” Our sentiments exactly!
Totally underrated, definitely not Sabbath this was something else
I think you can hear a tad bit of sabbath in this but you can tell that Slayer might have listened to this song as well...^^
facts
in sabbath bloody sabbath there is the heaviest riff ever.. in the middle of the tune... we can't miss it ! 😉🤘😝🤘
I mean, I don't really get it. You can make just about any riff sound heavy if you play a bunch of low E palm mutes or power chord palm mutes. This isn't exactly an achievement.
Brian still Killin it!
Love to see them playing the full version of the song often!
Totally agree, the short version is always kind of a bummer, this kicks ass
Cant believe it
yes full version with the proper solo
When was the last time they played the full version of this song?
This is even longer than the recorded version. Did they add part of Four Horsemen to it?
June 26th, 24, the day my dad died at the age of 62... we played some songs of Metallica at his funeral, I miss you dad, wherever you are, I hopefully see you sooner or later.
Excellent
Rest in Peace, he’s probably partying it up in heaven with Cliff Burton as we speak!
Rest in Power!!
Your father, may he rest in power, And yes you will see him again.
God Bless You Our Brother. The Metallica Family Worldwide Is With You 🙏🤘👏💪👍☠️⛓️✨️💯✌️💀🎶🔥🎸💥🖤 MET4EVER
James sounds powerful and confident. Love it.

I'm 56, nearly 57 and have been a fan from the beginning. This is so heart-warming to see all these years later.
I am dead and I’m so glad they play this in Hell..
Probably I am Evil! 🔥
Metallica's cover songs are always so good🤟❤️
_Some_ of them are good. Possibly even _most._ Not all, though.
Backhanded compliment
@@creamwobbly Which one are you thinking about? On the Garage Inc., they all seem pretty solid to me, even if some people complains about the 1988/1992 covers not being produced, or being barely produced (The Prince, Breadfan, etc...) and the Motorhead cover being recorded live which means far from the studio quality.
The 3 covers they made that ended up on the HTSD deluxe edition are amazing as far as I am concerned (and still astonished they never played live two of those).
The Ennio Morricone tribute they made in 2007 of the Ecstasy of Gold is fantastic.
The only ones that can be debatable are probably the Ramones covers they made during the St Anger period (some of them are OK, but some are horrible), and that acoustic version of Alice in Chain's Would? they recorded alongside with the Blackened 2020 is also quite debatable for it doesn't brings justice to this amazing song.
I wish they would make one more cover album before they retire
@@creamwobblythat's your opinion
And how cool is it that Tatler gets to play his song in front of such a huge crowd?
True Metallica fans know how awesome it is to hear the full song 👀👀
I don't believe since Ride the lightning they played the full song ,usually before the solo would go to a different song
@@JawsVader1970 I think they played it live in 2007.

One of the best covers of Metallica. The longer version always the better.
Metallica with more guitars is certainly what the world needs right now! ‼
Underrated comment!
They should sign Kiko Loureiro 👀
Brian Tatler - he deserves so much more credit. A solo that literally makes you cry. Thanks Brian, you're a guitar god. Take care.
AND IMO the prince is even better than this song, so is sucking my love, that solo is as evil as it gets.

The stage setup is crazy - a combo of the Death Magnetic and M72 stages. And everyone just seems happy in this video. I'm glad this band is still going after everything they've been through.
Yeahh they weren’t this happy in Copenhagen haha

They are on their M72 tour with doughnut stage..so when they play at festivals i think they demand that stage with 72 vibe

His best since the late 90s, 80’s can’t be touched. And through no fault of his own. Can’t expect him to sound like Seattle 89 when he’s 60 years old. He sounds amazing though!

Fantastic song and a top concert in Oslo 2024. The first time I saw Metallica was back in 1986 in Skedsmohallen, Norway. On bass was Cliff Burton, I shook his hand that night. 2 days later he was gone. RIP ❤️ 🤘
I can die in peace now, they played the full version!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
They have done before... Big 4 comes to mind, 30th and 40th anniversary shows, during the Garage Inc. shows... granted, they should do it more often 😂
@@TheFerry7791 They have come to my mind, late. Even so, the Big 4 hasn't played the full version. In '98, in 2021 and in 2022, yes, there are several records. I hope they do it in Argentina 😂.

also, thank you, Diamond Head 😁
@@fatushmanik Brian is the driving force of Diamond Head, so I figured thanking him was enough. But sure, thank you Diamond Head!
One of the best things about Metallica is that they are still--after all their success and all their fame--genuinely, star-struck fans over the people that inspired them.
well they have known diamond head forever, they had them guest on stage with them in the early 90's.
Epic!!! the solo part was perfect.
Except for the video director switching the view in the middle of it, geez

I saw Saxon on the last Motörhead Vegas show. So great!
3:15 - What a fucking moment! (This also needs to become a staple in their setlist again)
Thinking about when Diamond Head originally released this song, that was heavy as hell for the time 🤘
Lars cleaning the amps for Brian Tatler. Mad respect! 00:08

Diamond Head, Saxon and Metallica - 3 bands that have greatly impacted my life 🔥🔥🔥
Since Metallica went full digital amps when playing live, it´s a rare sight to see amps on stage. I guess Brian Tatler really loves those Marshalls lol
Actually he plays that Kemper too
Those amps are just for stage "air" and the signal comes from the digital amps
@@aadrianogamino I wouldn't be surprised if they were using that to go direct. I don't think I saw any mics on the Marshall cabs.
Metallica's cover songs - never get tired of hearing them.
I love that after all the years they've been together, they're still having fun. 40+ years and they're still the biggest metal band in the world!
I think they are classed as the biggest band full stop not just metal
*"U got to do that drum roll twice!!!"*
Played the full song? Oh Yeah!
Best part of all, they really look like they're having a blast in each other's company on stage.
I now feel the need to jamm on this song with my bandmates - yup. It's that inspiring.

Hell yeah fire as always, Cliff would be proud.
Life is hard and it sucks most of the time, but not for these 10 minutes. I love Metallica, and I love that they celebrate their heroes and influences. They are a band made of real music fans.
Amen
Have to give it to Lars for okaying this 6:20. He makes a mistake on the fill and could’ve easily cut away to a crowd shot and edit the audio to make it seem that it was played flawlessly but instead left in the error
I doubt any of the members review this footage tbh
he just dont care anymore. mistake or not, its a moment in time that should be embrace 🤘🏻
@@beirch If you think they don’t get permission to post a big mistake like that you’re naive. If it’s a 6th flawless video of Enter Sandman of course they probably don’t run it by them but something like this (Rare song with blatant mistake, enough that he has to restart the fill) I’m sure it makes it up the ladder.
@@jd0879 You have no idea what naive means do you? All of them are over 60, they dont give a shit about mistakes, they dont give a shit about this youtube channel. You think they're reviewing footage with their editor telling them what they can and cant put in and what songs to upload?
I can guarantee you the four band members have nothing to do with the channel or what goes on it. They have entire teams to do that for them. They even have a team to hire teams to do that for them.
Tatler played the shit outta that! Everyone was great! I especially loved when all three guitars came together for that chug in unison after the intro! Talk about THICK n HEAVY! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
What a solo from Mr Tatler
Tatler sounded great. Loved the rawness of his solo.
The solos in this song literally taught me how to play double hammer-ons.
2:07 even Rick is in the crowd on the left ! Now, where's Morty?
Haha no way you saw him💀😂
Only Lars can mess up a fill whist playing with one of his heroes and laugh it off like it’s no big deal 😂
Kirk is such a bro handing over the solo duties to Brian.
LOL! He didn't have a choice. Brian wrote that solo.
Hetfields voice is still fierce 😮
I like this kind of stage much better

10:29 😂😅😂 practicing that fill he fucked up. Funny as hell though they make fun of themselves
This is brilliant, a fan of both bands since 1983, the 80s was the best decade for metal.. That's what I love about Metallica they bring people on from other bands and vary their set so much... Brian Tatler is brilliant in Saxon he made them heavier and even better Their new album is brilliant. Legends... Both bands...
Yeah I hear you Foo fighters do the same thing
Finally! A full live version! I wonder what it took to make them do it!
Probably the guy who wrote the song playing it with them, even if that isn't the case it's still an awesome performance

Love it good job James
Wow! This song means so much for me.. About 15 years ago when I studied drums playing in the Russian outback, me and two young guitarists chose this song to play as a part of exam after our learning. We spent hours playing only this song again and again until we managed to perform something alike - simplified, but still driving the people in front of the stage (our friends mostly) go slam. It was my first public performanse on drums and this moment and this song I will never forget.
Unfortunatelly, after the years I can't event go back to Russia to see my friends and parents as Putin attacked Ukraine and I'm against it so can be jailed for years.
But thank you, Metallica for that cover, thank you Brian Tatler and Diamond Head for the song! I would be so happy to watch this live, but I visited Metallica show in Madrid. Thanks PR managers for uploading this record!
Yeah men! Tatler on fire..Metallica is every day more big!! Love Diamond Head song
