  • Hello and welcome to the stocksbridge guitar tech channel.
Today I've made some upgrades to my kramer pacer classic guitar. This kramer pacer was a decent guitar to begin with, but I've upgraded the electronics, fitted a new heavier brass tremolo block and fitted new tremolo springs. These small upgrades have improved the tone of the guitar and the tuning stability of the licensed Floyd-Rose. This upgraded kramer pacer classic is a pretty neat guitar now.
On the Stocksbridge Guitar Tech channel you can find free guitar and music theory lessons, guitar setup tips and the occasional gear review. These are aimed at anyone with a love of, or interest in the guitar. If you have stumbled upon this video and find it difficult to understand, then check out my earlier videos. Just search for Stocksbridge Guitar Tech, and if you're a beginner on guitar start with lesson no.1, (lessons 1 to 14 are complete beginner guitar lessons).

Thank you, the guitar definitely sustains more and returns to pitch better than before - big improvement for a modest outlay.

Hello! I have exactly the same Kramer that I also modified: Floyd Rose in the down only position with a tremstopper, I resized the location of the nut a little and glued this one because it moved a little while using the Floyd Rose and it didn't stay in tune well. The edges of the frets are rounded and 1 fret was too high because it was not fully seated so I just pressed it in with a plastic hammer. I disconnected the tone and kept only one volume (500k linear) and put a big Les Paul style toggle switch. The sound is a bit more open and defined with more treble. The potentiometer covers are white speed knobs like on the old Kramer from the 80's. Finally I put Dunlop straplocks. The guitar holds the chord better, the sound is a little improved (especially the neck pickup and the 2 sets, the bridge position is a little worse I think).
It's still a modest guitar, I don't really like the profile of the neck and the medium frets. I prefer the Kramer Baretta Special rosewood fingerboard, the neck is more comfortable, the frets a little bigger and better finished and the zebra pickup better than the Pacer. Even the volume knob is better if you cut the horrible treble bleed. Only the paint is too fragile on the Baretta but I prefer everything on the Baretta but the Pacer is more versatile with its neck pickup.

Hi and thanks for your comments. Mine feels like a more expensive guitar now after the upgrades, and for £199 it was an absolute steal so I'm happy with it. To be honest I'm not an avid FR user anyway but just like a change occassionally.

@@sgt1959 I got it for 250€ new in box . Horrible frets , poorly screwed tuners , too straight neck, too low action , horrible stock strings , tremolo claw badly pierced...

I see these going for $379. I just got mine on clearance for $199 plus tax. Definitely a deal if you’re looking for a gig guitar build quality.

Thanks for the comments. I did have a few issues with mine initially, but I can't complain considering what I paid for the guitar. I love it now and think it's a brilliant buy.

What size was the brass block you upgraded to? I ordered one of these pacers and definitely going to update the block and bridge pickup to start. Thanks for the demo brotha

Hi, it was 37mm wide by 50mm high and 12.7mm thickness - hope that helps.

Awesome video. Where did you get the pre-wired electronics and how much are they? I just bought one and love the guitar! I put a JB in the bridge but the stock pots are garbage lol... 🤘 Thanks bro.

Thanks Jimmy. The electronics weren't pre-wired I wired them up myself. I used Bourns pots for this guitar, (they're slightly cheaper than CTS pots and turn more freely). The Bourns pots were about £5 each and the switch was about £10, (it's not a Switchcraft - they cost about 3 times as much). I already had these components at home, but you can get them from places like North West Guitars, AxesRus, Axecaster and other suppliers - just google search 'guitar electronics suppliers', or something like that.

What size Floyd Rose Brass Block did you buy?

Hello Mike. I got the 50mm x 37mm brass block for this guitar - it fits perfectly and I can still pull up on the bar with no routing required in the trem cavity.
