You could say that the Brackens' plans....
Blackfyred
Well played.
I was seriously waiting for Aziz to make that one.
Thank you thank you. I was waiting for Aziz to make it too! I think I watch this channel so much that the puns just come to me now lol.
Cue CSI: Miami theme!
Bittersteel and Bloodraven are the reasons why this time period would work so well for another TV series! Both Daemon and Daeron are likeable and the women around this time are all interesting
Bittersteel is probably one of my favourite characters in the entire series.
Me too, I don't know why but I can't deny it.
beneath the gold, the bittersteel
Did anybody else love Harry Lloyd's performance in Knight of the Seven Kingdoms? I loved it!! top notch!!
As for the Tyroshi merchant nobility's fear of getting into a war with Westeros, and loose trade, it is always important to recall the 34th rule of aquisition: "War is good for business" (it comes right before the 35th rule: "Peace is good for business")
"Will someone please think of the children?!" is a Helen Lovejoy impression?
Yes it was, good catch ;)
That intro work is impressive, really top notch.
I agree
you speak my mind^^
Bittersteel has the power of friendship and rage on his side.
I always giggle when I read/hear the name Barba (Bracken). I am from Brazil, and "Barba" translates here literally to "Beard", so I picture an angry, spiteful, bearded woman, whenever I think about "Barba" Bracken.
That's too funny.
Beneath the Podcast the bitter episode!
We hope everyone finds this episode to be as good as gold!
Haha! love your wildfire shirt!! First thing I thought was "hmmm, promoting monster energy drinks?" Noooo that's wildfire! Brilliant!" People are so creative and witty to make tshirts and innuendo-ish products. Where did you get it? My husband needs that shirt!
I've been rewatching everything on this channel. You two are awesome. Top notch analysis and delivery. Second to none.
Wow the forsaken chapter was immense and reminded me how much u two actually rock. I love you guys
Im so psyched that you guys are back to some serious historical analysis. That's really where this show shines. Thanks for another great episode!
SHE'S BACK!!! Your videos flow so much better this way....
your guy's production has improved tenfold. and i thought you were awesome before. way to be. peace
7hu
This series is incredible... glad I've gone back to listen. I absolutely love the idea of many of these characters, their badass names included! Aziz, that intro/ description of the motivations of these types of people was EVERYTHING!!!!!! 😍😍
Perhaps the reason why Gormon Peake had so much faith in Daemon II is because Daemon shared some of the prophecies from his Dragon Dreams and perhaps Gormon Peake saw some them come true?
Wow, that is a lot of Patreon supporters at the end! Good for you guys.
Would love to see a movie on bittersteel.
Awesome! my hatchling is a little beast!
Home sick today so been looking forward to this, thanks a ton for all your hard work
I usually listen to the podcast but the videos are so great I think im gonna switch. Im loving all the animations and graphics :)
haven't watched your UA-cam video's in a while, (listen to the podcasts instead), great advances in video and the extra artwork and visual aids is amazing. keep up the great work!
you guys rock!!! another great series and video!
Where are Aegor's children?
Yall deserve so many more subscribers and views, great channel. I'm patiently waiting for the next video...maybe not so patient.
I cant wait for the next episode! I've just started rewatching and I'm looking forward to the next one 😊
Love that intro guys, its brilliant! Also love your videos, keep 'em coming!
You guys do incredible work. Thank you so much for the effort you put into these videos. I''ve seen them all and they only get better.
always excited to see a history of westeros video pop up on my sub list!
That new intro is effing sweet.
Bittersteel is my favorite the great bastards
you guys are the best!!
Love the new intro !!!!!
Excellent as always. Your Blackfyre videos are the best, can't wait for more. Also those posters are great where'd you get them?
“-So Spake Martin”
😂😂😂😂🥰😂😂
I have found my people.
Bloodraven ooooo can't wait!
Not anyone needed another reason to hate Bloodraven, but it is good to be reminded that at his core he was a coward.
Just another Awesome vídeo!!
The sound and video being slightly off is distracting. Still a really good listen. Thank you
Finally! I've been waiting for this one!!!
We had a lot of fun getting back to this topic!
I was trying to figure out who helped in the voice acting, the I realized it was Shaun!
You da man Aziz!
Is there a resource that lists all the household positions & personnel for the different castles of ASOIAF? For example: Castellan - Rodrik Cassel, Blacksmith - Mikken, etc.
Beneath the gold, bitter steel.
Aerion Bright Flame's son Maegor probably married a Blackfyre daughter to produce Varys... both a Targaryen AND a Blackfyre - looking to be a Kingmaker.
And I believe Daemon II crossed without the Sword because he believed he would hatch a Dragon...which is obviously possible....so why need Blackfyre when you have a Dragon.
"One day, I'll cut off his head and make her a gift of it." Whatever happened to giving a woman flowers?
AEGOR, WHAT IS BEST IN LIFE?
Beneath the Gold the Bittersteel
One of the most badass words of any house or sellsword company, its up there with "Ours is the fury", "Our blades are sharp", "Winter is coming", "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken", and "Hear me roar"
The way you guys fleshed all this out is amazing. Especially the relationship between Bloodraven and Aegor Rivers with all the Bracken and Blackwood stuff. Excellent work.
EDIT: Isn't there a part in TWoIaF that talks about Missy Blackwood staying around in court even though the king wanted to dismiss her because she was so well liked? Or is that something I made up. I had put on the TWoIaF audiobook and fell asleep when they were covering this part of the Targaryen Kings.
You are right both princess later King Daeron and his mother the queen liked her due to her kindness. She did eventually leave court but her son got to stay at court and she has a statue at raven tree hall so nothing too bad could have happened as her house still honors her.
Meant prince Daeron not princess.
This comment section is being watched by a thousand unseen eyes.
And one
first time watching the video format and i must say you guys did a great job.
Is it just or were the audio and video not synchronised?
it seems to be an intermittent problem. Sometimes the audio/video line up.. then I'll watch again and they don't. (even when checking the exact same place). We don't think it's on our end, hopefully YT fixes.
+Westeros History (AA Podcast) Agreed, watched a 2nd and 3rd time and it seems to be working as expected
So how/when did Bloodraven (Brynden) get Dark Sister? He had 2 older sisters... so he had to be significantly younger that Daemon Blackfyre and Aegor Rivers... but he still would have been old enough to learn from Fire Ball before the rebellion broke out. And when/why was he made Hand of the King in all this chaos?
Aegon been knew daemon was his son tho lol he was his favorite bastard... he was going to put daemon above aegor for sure
Don’t forget the king gave daemon the sword blackfyre himself at 12 so daemon was the one he was gone make the heir
FIRST OFF, Daemon II Blackfyre had the right idea....secretly penetrate Westeros in disguise in a powerful rebel area (the Reach) with strong Lords already backing you. I mean the goddamn heir and first born son of DAEMON BLACKFYRE was in the Reach just chillin with known rebel Lord Peake. The Hightowers, Rowans all would have supported him to gain Highgarden and kill off the Tyrells. Then move to Kings Landing just as Bittersteel lands the Golden Company on the shores of the Crownlands, complete pincer move. That was the only way a second rebellion would have worked and Daemon II was the best candidate of all the Blackfyres, he had the Valyrian features, looked like his father, had dragon dreams and was a dragonrider due to his genetics. Now if Bloodraven wasn't tipped off and Daemon had Blackfyre with him he could have easily rallied the Reacher Lords and probably Dorne. And his dream about hatching an Egg IS NOT ABOUT King Aegon V....Dany hatched an egg so its obviously possible, Daemon easily could have too.
The dream is definitely about Aegon lol and there’s no way to say daemon was a dragonrider because he never rode one lol lot of Targaryen bastards was never dragon riders because they couldn’t tame one...and dany was unburnt.. she was a full Targaryen so daemon couldn’t walk in fire with dragon so how would he hatch it??
MDG_ 5 Damon was full Targaryen to though? His mother was Dana the Defiant. The oldest daughter of king Aegon III THE DRAGON BANE & his father was Aegon the IIII
Damn, I saw the new thumbnail and thought it was a new video
Daemon II had the right idea....he secretly infiltrated Westeros in the heart of Blackfyre support (The Reach) with powerful Lords already on his side, if not for the Dwarfs informing Bloodraven he could have eassily raised all the Hightower, Rowan and Reacher Lords to attack Highgarden because they HATE the Tyrell upjumps, just as that happens Bittersteel arrives with the GC and Blackfyre in the Crownlands and both armies pincer Kings Landing. And its obviously possible to hatch dragons so his dream IS NOT ABOUT AEGON V....he really dreamt that egg would hatch like Dany did.
Aziz is that you narrating at 1:12:00 ? I love that voice. Please read the whole series like that. ;)
ha yes that's me :) I wonder if I could keep that voice up for so long, lol.
It would be a challenge, don't strain yourself lol.
what's with the skull flying through the shot...not needed
Came to the comments just to see if anyone else mentioned the skull, as I reckon it is really off-putting. Maybe for each section, but half way through a sentece?
I usually don't watch these videos (listen on phone while doing stuff) so I weren't sure if it was new. Really off-putting either way.
The times it appeared halfway through a sentence, it was to mask the fact that there is a camera cut right then - I imagine some prefer seeing it jumpcut and others prefer it being masked...personally I really don't like seeing it jumpcut and think it looks too choppy, drives me crazy.
You two should co-write Fire & Blood with GRRM once he gets to that point
THIS MAKES ME MOIST
Do all Blackfyre Targaryens have black hair or some with the platinum blonde and silver? I am not a book reader. GoT-wikia shows blondes also, like Daemon Blackfyre.
I often wonder if Varys is a Blackfyre who shaves off his platinum hari every day to hide his secret, wants a Targaryen back on Throne and then reinvent the Blackfyre Rebellion. What else does he have to do in life afer having his stick and berries chopped and burned away into ashes? This may be found out in S8, he is judged to be a betrayer of Dany, of course and executed.... His "GAME (of Thrones)" is then over.
YouSurf Varys is not no blackfyre lol and yes some Targaryen Bastards do have silver hair like daemon blackfyre
i cannot stand the freaking Brackens!
OMFG!!! You mean to tell me that there is an alternative audiobook of Dunk and Egg where the narrator isn't horrible?! I always loved you guys for your theories but that is one of the best practically applicable things I've heard so far this year. The audiobooks for the first and second Dunk and Egg books are awful. Especially the third; he always pronounced "Ser" as "Sare". I don't mind too much when Roy Dotrice pronounces "Petyr" Baelish as "Pet ire" Baelish and "Brienne" as "Bry eene", but those are names that barely show up during a story as opposed to a word like Ser which comes up at least once every 30 minutes. "Ser" is even more common in Dunk and Egg since Egg, being Dunk's squire, ALWAYS calls him Ser. Maybe I'm racist, but the only people I like listening to doing narrations are British people and Morgan Freeman.
Graham Gibson although it is annoying how Dotrice just changes everyone's voice on like the 3rd book and turns Dany into a troll.
Ashaya i would like to buy that hoody for my wife. Where can i get it for
Unfortunately, it was a limited run by Black Milk Clothing; they stopped selling their GoT line recently. I was not even close to getting all of the items I wanted, so it was very disappointing. Hopefully they get a new contract w/ GoT and print more!
+Westeros History (AA Podcast) thank u thank u thank u im gunna have to keep an eye on black milk clothing
Do you guys read off a script?
Yes, they use a teleprompter twitter.com/WesterosHistory/status/768891307536199680
Why would Aegor just throw away a valuable asset like Daemon II? Even though Daemon II was gay he could've been pressured into taking a wife by his mother, Aegor and the Tyroshi relatives giving them money. Even Aegor must have seen that Dragon Dreams were relatively rare. Why wouldn't Aegor or whichever older relative stop Daemon II from going to Westeros?
I sure wish you put a family tree up on the screen... it's tough to keep the line of succession straight. Baelon, then... Daeron... then Viserys... then Aegon IV?... no, Viserys THEN Daeron, then Aegon IV, then Daeron II... no - Daeron the Dragon Knight... THEN Baelon... THEN..,.. oh, I give up. I need to go back and listen to this again... in which of the Blackfyre uploads did you talk about the order of the Targaryen kings? Uhhh.... yeah.... to keep it straight it would have been EXTREMELY helpful to keep a list of the Kings and Dates they ruled in order up on the screen. I mean, as attractive as you two are - sometimes a visual aid would be more helpful.
Okay... it's Aegon III, THEN Daemon the Dragon Knight.... THEN Baelor the Blessed/Befuddled... THEN Viserys II... THEN Aegon IV... THEN Daeron II - the Good... THEN the Blackfire Rebellion with Daemon, son of Daella (sister to Baelor and Daemon the Dragon Knight)... sooner or later I'll get it straight.
Stannis is humorless? Coming from the guys who have whole episode on Stannis sense of humor?
ha! Well, one of the things we point out in that Stannis episode is that Stannis doesn't realize how funny he is. He comes off as humorless, but is actually hilarious. Bittersteel is humorlesss... and well we don't have enough quotes to know if he's also unintentionally funny like Stannis.
