My theory is Euron isnt going to Oldtown to attack, but to join forces with Leyton Hightower, who has been practicing sorcery in his tower for years. He may even be Euron's ringleader.
Man I love you guys. Your level-headed commentary and analysis is much-needed these days. I particularly appreciated your assessment of how Euron might be actually using the blood of priests -- not because the blood would literally have magical power, but because it will *seem* that way in the eyes of others. It makes absolute perfect sense, and sounds like something GRRM would totally do.
Really great points on Euron, like Melisandre, using the trappings of religion and disguised science to create the illusion of godliness. Also a great analysis of the two horns - convincing by both meta and in-story standards. OH MY GOD - the three horn blasts!
I'M SO STOKED!! History of Westros videos never let me down i really appreciate all the hard work you guys put into these productions it really shows! Thanks Ashaya and Aziz.
Wow I never thought about this, but euron is attacking old town to sack the citadel to get the dragon/other magic books, he needs a archmaester key, so if he hired now "pate" he can take everything he wants!
I see what u mean I almost forgot the epilogue where the archmaester is stolen. This would be a great move for the crows eye although there is such a great spread of important information that it almost seems like George RR Martin is baiting his readers in to thinking this. This key could have easily been taken by many parties in the story in order to gain an intellectual advantage over their adversaries.
always a good day when new material comes out from westeros history . you know it will be entertaining and informative. as always keep up the great work
Awesome episode guys. Love the idea of Euron blowing the horn 3 times from the top of the Hightower, which has been intentionally told to us that you can see the wall from there. But I fear that means Sam will be one of the characters we care about who is subjected to Euron's wrath. Say it ain't so George... ..he's going to lose his fat pink mast! :-p
ill be honest it took me a while to get into 2 hour videos.. i prefer 6 -20 minutes.. but have you just guys in the past i know you know your stuff.. and my appreciation and appetite for longer ones have grown
great stuff guys - but no mention of Urrathon Nightwalker with his glass candles in Qarth - I definitely consider this to be Euron - there's a lot of Ironborn backstory that fits this too - what's your thoughts - did you look into that at all. & thankyou for getting Poor Quentyn on too - he really does know his stuff 😃😃😃😃😃
Bloodraven isn't the Three Eyed Crow, Bran confirms this when he asks Bloodraven upon meeting him if he was indeed The Three Eyed crow.. Bloodraven seemed confused by the question and he went on to reference his Night's watch days, clearly not even being aware of Three Eyed Crow. He referenced his Nights Watch days assuming that's what Bran meant. to his Night's Watch days. Bloodraven appeared as a Weirwood when visiting Bran in his dream. We don't know who the Three Eyed Crow is although it may be the Crow's Eye himself. This would fit with Euron being a former apprentice of Bloodraven and perhaps interfering with Bloodraven's plans by sowing confusion in Bran's head.
euron really creeps me out, he's like the savage crazy version of roose bolton to me - i want them to meet up >:) and i like how you put art in the episodes.
One of the most interesting characters in the story very unpredictable, from what little we know of him you can feel the evil aura coming out of the pages from the book. Worst of the worst of baddies
I love your podcast, they are amazingly well done... keep up the great work, I see you put that patron money to good use!!! How much we gotta donate to see that beautiful girl in her name day gown 🤞😜
Hi guys, loving the video! You always put so much into these and your enthusiasm gets us even more excited about the series if that's possible LOL. Question though, I thought I read that Martin stated when asked about the FM fee that it was a negotiation and pricing depended on prominence of the victim, how difficult to get to them, danger to the assassin and guild etc. When I thought about it that actually makes more sense than a percentage otherwise a person who only had two gold could give them one and have Cercei killed. (If only it were that easy, lol) but maybe I dreamed that. Anyway, love your content in this channel. Cheers!
Holy hell, I have been eagerly awaiting for this one! Starting to watch right now! Just got home from a day of baebecueing in the amazon forest and swiming in a huge river (its kinda like Sothoryos, although less creepy). I thought nothing could make this day better, but I was wrong!
I've become really pessimistic towards the idea that George can wrap up all of the current plotlines in 2 more books, unless they were at max page limit (1500 pages I think). I'd love 2 more 1500 page long books to read, but I just don't think it's feasible for him. He COULD do it, but he has said before that he kind of just writes, and sometimes the writing gets away from him.
@History of Westoros I am pleased to have found your channel. I am a slow reader, and don't read enought. I read the first two SOng of Ice and Fire. Although I completed the series. Your youtube channel can serve to learn everything I need about the books in an instructive and entertaining way.
That's some interesting information about eye patches -- I always just assumed the wearer had lost an eye in battle or something. Same reason some pirates have hooks for hands or stubs for legs. It ain't easy reaving.
Brilliant. Just Brilliant. Euron will blow the horn at the Hightower obliterating the Wall and probably destroy Oldtown if he can but it makes you think: will Sawmill survive somehow? It would be an abrupt end to his arc if he died.
Tory Brains Honestly Grrm talks how like Sam alot i think "Sam the Slayer" whos been practicing with bow pull a Slay and shoot Euron through his exposed eyes in his valaryensteel armor and dir
great video, and thx for bringing me up to date on whole preston thing. i started with yawl and with the books u r for sure the place to go, u and tony teflon
Excellent as always. Could Bloodraven or whomever spoke to Euron in his dreams have suggested his travels to the East (wherever that may have taken him)? If your idea of him being an earlier choice before Bran, directing someone with ample prowess at sea to retrieve knowledge and/or power from the East to address the coming Winter would make sense. Keep up the amazing analysis (oh and snag LML for a Knights of the Order of the Green Hand video if you please :-D )!
and the show says euron was at pyke during breach but thats show. which is interesting bc all dan db and RR said that stannis does burn his daughter but dont confirm stuff like summer, sept of baelor and hodors death will happen
Reader, you will do well to keep your nose in your books.......well, what book was Rodrick Harlaw reading? A book about the Doom. I think Euron was giving us a hint with that quote.
Hey, good question! No nation controls them, they are ruled by an ever-changing group of Pirate lords/kings. Recently, it appears that Aurane Waters (formerly Cersei's Master of Ships) has set himself up as the "Lord of the Waters" on the isle called Torturer's Deep. This is surely going to come up again in TWOW.
Euron is the Corsair King. No one literally calls him "Euron Greyjoy", but it is HEAVILY implied that they are the same person - his claims of a dreaded reputation do have weight to them.
I can't wait to see some new episodes, im kind of new to the channel but I've watched TONS of videos on here. Pretty much everyone about the book... have they done a podcast about blood raven? I seen the one about the Blackfyre rebellion but I wanna hear about him in general... He said they were coming but I haven't seen them yet
I haven't watched the whole video but Do you think the crow is the symbol of the Great Other? I think in Bran's visions the Wierwood is Bloodraven but the crow is the "person" working for the Great Other. With that I think the Crow's Eye connected with the Great Other when he was out to sea.
You're so mean to Victarion though :( What do you think Euron is trying to achieve with Aeron in the Forsaken chapter? Just cruelty or is there more to it?
I think the Crow told Euron he couldn’t fly or that Euron didn’t because he was afraid, and it was the starting injury to his ego that sparked his ambitions. He wants to prove his worth to it, and probably kill it like all the other Gods beside himself(in his own view). Remember the three eyed crow is the old god(s) of the weirwood net that inhabit the last greenseer. That is what he means by be a worthy host.
My theory has always been there has always been a battle of ice and fire. Translating from Empire of the dawn.. the Amythist empire and the other. a constant battle. Euron, faceless men, children, weirwood on the the great others side
I'm binging all your stuff lately but hadn't noticed anything in lonely light and the farwynds. apologies if you have touched on it. I'm curious since its an 8 day sail one way. how did they make the kingsmoot. privy to information, skinchaged and watched Balon fall, or my idea of the timeline just not completely right thanks!
it's implied that Geoffrey was the one who ordered the murder of Robert's bastards, which puts him higher up on the kin slaying leaderboard. Technically they weren't kin but it's fuzzy on whether or not he knew that.
Definitely makes me think Euron is some kind of failed candidate to be three-eyed raven, the way Count Fenring is a failed Kwizats Haderach. It could also foreshadow a showdown between Bran and Euron. Bran is told he will fly - I still hold out hope that that means he'll warg a dragon at some point. And as Euron has the dragon binding horn, that showdown could take the form of a tug-of-war over a dragon.
I love these videos, I can't wait to see what terrible shit Euron gets up to in TWOW I'm looking forwards to learning more of his character than anything else, great stuff.
Could you guys please make a video on the Brotherhood Without Banners? Specifically focusing on the implications of feudalistic justice / protection of vigilantes on the common folk? Thanks so much for all you guys do.
Also, in regards to Euron, I think he has some advanced greenseer powers but they're unformed and uncontrollable. The WoW chapter leads me to believe that he can actually hear people praying - most likely to the Weirwoods - but he may not grasp what's really going on there so has come to think of himself as a god on Earth. I think at times the sounds of the prayers disorient him, and so he has become fixated on silence. Pretty much like that bit in Bruce Almighty.
No offense meant to her but Ashaya really gestures a lot with her hands when she talks XD It distracted me a couple of times lol That said, it's great to see her back in the videos! :D
When you say Euron will interact and cause suffering to characters we like, do you include Sam? For that to happen it would mean that Euron knows who Sam is and what he, the dragonglass and the horn are about. Apparently that seems unlikely: Euron coming to Oldtown and Sam being just one young acolite between many, so the author will surprise us for sure!...
Man Eruon going into Areons room to rape him when he was smaller is crazy... that shit is really dark. Just when you think things or people can't become worse all of a sudden here comes Euron to prove everyone wrong. The worst part is Eruon has a way with people to make them follow and love him... till they let their guard down and he makes them his slave.
Saga Poetic Well, Bloodraven probably doesn't care about the character, only about the abilities of the kid. He would do everything to defeat the Others (like he tried to handle the Blackfyres). Also... if one of thousands skinchangers can become a greenseer and the apocalypse is coming, so you dont have much time to find someone... You would probably consider "awakening" a weird creepy kid too.
Saga Poetic when speaks the vic he talks about dreaming when a boy he could fly and how do you know cant untill you try. the theory is a failed greenseer of blood raven when he realizes what euron is the connection like his flag red eye with crows and his smiling eye
In the books it also says that Eruon is the comely one out of all the brothers... he's the most handsome, cunning, and minuplative... and plus him going all the way around the world like Dany has had made him open his eyes to everything. Like where he says he's seen every God known to man and not one could stop him from killing the people that worship that God. He's insane. I really wanna know who he's talking about when he says "I need a heir worthy of him"... who the hell is "him"? I'm 100% sure Eruorn is under control from someone and in turn for him doing that ones bidding he's granted magical powers and loot. Like his armor and I'm sure he's got some valryian steel weapons also since he's already got the armor.
I think I heard this from Preston Jacobs, but what do you guys make of the claim that Dragonbinder is not a dragon horn, but a slave horn. Preston pointed out how after the horn is blown almost everyone (even Aeron) bows down to Euron, but then a bunch of people who just chose him seem to change their mind about the plan. I find this suggestion really interesting, because it is reasonable that Valyrians used something like that to gather up slaves. They had superior military power, of course, but the small folk would likely run away at an attack. Why have troops go to capture bunches at a time, where you can blow a bunch of these horns and have them come to you "willingly." What do you guys make of this?
Setting aside the fact that they really wouldn't be needed, how would that even work? Whoever hears it is enslaved? Aeron doesn't bow to Euron, nor do Asha nor her people, nor does Victarion and his people. Aeron is momentarily swayed by Euron's bold words, nothing more. Within sentences he is terrified of his brother again. He doesn't feel anything that resembles servitude towards his brother, not even in that brief moment. What he feels is lust for the idea of taking Westeros, of destroying the Seven and burning weirwoods. So the idea falls apart quickly because the details are wrong. Thus, for multiple reasons I'd have to judge this a #badtheory.
Westeros History I don't buy into it much (aside from the fact that it comes from Jacobs...) but the idea of having a horn that binds dragons also doesn't seem to fully fit. Targaryens struggled with dragon riders at some point, no? That was partly why there were so many Targaryen bastards in Dragonstone. Why wouldn't those who fled Valyria have grabbed a couple of them as they left for Dragonstone. Also, if Euron didn't go to Valyria (which is unlikely) and dragons are basically the nukes of Planetos, why would anyone who had this horn ever give it up, at any price? Edit: I think the idea of it being a slave horn is that it makes people subservient to you for a while. Perhaps enough to get them into ships, say, or gather them up. Once you're under Valyrian custody, they have other methods (i.e. torture) to make you obey. This accounts for the fact that not everyone is affected (the more strong-willed you are, the less affected) and how quickly everyone goes for Euron
I'm only 5 mins in but hoping you share my belief that Euron is trying to recreate the Doom through prophecy fulfillment. I find what he says to Rodrick the Reader to be particularly telling.
####SPOILER####@ do you think euron is the true enemy or just a distraction.. the sample chapter really paints him as something more. his brother could just be delusional though. so is really something else or playing that card?
My theory is Euron isnt going to Oldtown to attack, but to join forces with Leyton Hightower, who has been practicing sorcery in his tower for years. He may even be Euron's ringleader.
Man I love you guys. Your level-headed commentary and analysis is much-needed these days. LOVE this channel, one of the small things that makes life so grand
seriously love how long these are
Fabersoul longer the better!
As long as it isn't from The Dragon Demands...then it just gets weird.
yhes tnx! these are so good, always happy to see one uploaded
Really great points on Euron, like Melisandre, using the trappings of religion and disguised science to create the illusion of godliness. Also a great analysis of the two horns - convincing by both meta and in-story standards. OH MY GOD - the three horn blasts!
We hadn't noticed that until PQ pointed it out to us... one of our favorite parts too ;) Thanks, Kevin!
Glad to see you guys back, love your shows, taking me on a deeper journey to Westeros
I'M SO STOKED!! History of Westros videos never let me down i really appreciate all the hard work you guys put into these productions it really shows! Thanks Ashaya and Aziz.
YES! Now I don't have to listen to your old stuff over and over again.
lol im still gonna re listen to them. S7 hype is too much.
I agree.
Callum Jones been there, done that 😅
I do that too. lol
Relistening to these podcasts is worth it because they are simply packed with so much information. I can't take it all in on a first round!
Wow I never thought about this, but euron is attacking old town to sack the citadel to get the dragon/other magic books, he needs a archmaester key, so if he hired now "pate" he can take everything he wants!
Andrew Jones I imagine Euron would just have all the doors smashed in.
Magic spells may protect the doors, made by the hightowers
I see what u mean I almost forgot the epilogue where the archmaester is stolen. This would be a great move for the crows eye although there is such a great spread of important information that it almost seems like George RR Martin is baiting his readers in to thinking this. This key could have easily been taken by many parties in the story in order to gain an intellectual advantage over their adversaries.
Just got through your Blackfyre rebellions series for the second time and this gets uploaded, 'tis a good day!
always a good day when new material comes out from westeros history . you know it will be entertaining and informative. as always keep up the great work
Great to see you back
You guys are incredible. I don't know how you find the time and energy for this work. I guess that's what being an ASOIAF blood-fan does to someone xD
Great choice of topic I'm sure I'll enjoy this.
Awesome episode guys. Love the idea of Euron blowing the horn 3 times from the top of the Hightower, which has been intentionally told to us that you can see the wall from there.
But I fear that means Sam will be one of the characters we care about who is subjected to Euron's wrath. Say it ain't so George...

ill be honest it took me a while to get into 2 hour videos.. i prefer 6 -20 minutes.. but have you just guys in the past i know you know your stuff.. and my appreciation and appetite for longer ones have grown
I love Euron as a character because he seems to act from utter boredom with occasional bouts of curiosity
great stuff guys - but no mention of Urrathon Nightwalker with his glass candles in Qarth - I definitely consider this to be Euron - there's a lot of Ironborn backstory that fits this too - what's your thoughts - did you look into that at all. & thankyou for getting Poor Quentyn on too - he really does know his stuff 😃😃😃😃😃
JoJo Lady Dayne hmmm who
Is that??? I don't remember a character by that name??
Yes! Love listening to these while I'm working.

Wow! Poorquentyn is in this one too?! Man, I love your literary analysis!
My thoughts exactly!
euron really creeps me out, he's like the savage crazy version of roose bolton to me - i want them to meet up >:)
and i like how you put art in the episodes.
Welcome back, you beautiful people!
Great topic - great guest - great work!
One of the most interesting characters in the story very unpredictable, from what little we know of him you can feel the evil aura coming out of the pages from the book. Worst of the worst of baddies
I really don't know when I wrote this
I love your podcast, they are amazingly well done... keep up the great work, I see you put that patron money to good use!!! How much we gotta donate to see that beautiful girl in her name day gown 🤞😜
Great video!! I have been wanting to hear one Euron thanks 👌
Seeing this at 2.50am! 🤔🤔🤔 very tempted!
Yaaay Asha!
Roy Dotrice please👏👏👏
Glad to hear the Kraken Witt.
I hope if Victorian is doomed we get a lot of his pov chapters first it's some of the best humour in the books how his mind works
It's been a good week. Thanks, AA
Great episode! Fascinating and wonderful to watch
great video, and thx for bringing me up to date on whole preston thing. i started with yawl and with the books u r for sure the place to go, u and tony teflon
This was brilliant guys
Excellent as always.
Could Bloodraven or whomever spoke to Euron in his dreams have suggested his travels to the East (wherever that may have taken him)? If your idea of him being an earlier choice before Bran, directing someone with ample prowess at sea to retrieve knowledge and/or power from the East to address the coming Winter would make sense.
Keep up the amazing analysis (oh and snag LML for a Knights of the Order of the Green Hand video if you please :-D )!
You guys are underrated
Seven years ago. Brutal.
Amazing work!
I wonder if Victerian blows the horn and burns to death.... something to that extent and Danny just takes the Iron Fleet
and the show says euron was at pyke during breach but thats show. which is interesting bc all dan db and RR said that stannis does burn his daughter but dont confirm stuff like summer, sept of baelor and hodors death will happen
Reader, you will do well to keep your nose in your books.......well, what book was Rodrick Harlaw reading? A book about the Doom. I think Euron was giving us a hint with that quote.
ive seen more of this world than all of you and this is the only thing that terrifies me.. has he seen them b4????
If I had to guess his first taste of shade of the evening or at least the big one is during the storm he tried to jump ship during. I am the storm.
Thank you guys much , please keep up the great work and I'll keep on watching gods bless ...WE DO NOT SOW !!! R.I.P. Steve (the freakin Italian
I am not sure the three eyed crow is Bloodraven. I personally have a feeling that the Three Eyed Crow is Bran going back in time.
great work. Q who controls the stepstones?
Hey, good question!
No nation controls them, they are ruled by an ever-changing group of Pirate lords/kings. Recently, it appears that Aurane Waters (formerly Cersei's Master of Ships) has set himself up as the "Lord of the Waters" on the isle called Torturer's Deep. This is surely going to come up again in TWOW.
I do suggest that article by BryndenBFish.

cheers, will do.
Thank the seven a new podcast is out.

For most things, I would say 5 years is enough to remove the spoiler tag, but this is a special case lol
Thanks guys!
bc i started when u had the guy with u in the boltons video years ago. which was amazing bc i read all books 5 times and still learned some new stuff
My theory has always been there has always been a battle of ice and fire. Translating from Empire of the dawn.. the Amythist empire and the other. a constant battle. Euron, faceless men, children, weirwood on the the great others side
So you're telling me, Euron is Evil Doraemon with ships
16:40 what port now lol
I'm binging all your stuff lately but hadn't noticed anything in lonely light and the farwynds. apologies if you have touched on it. It would be very interesting to see Euron and Ramsey go against each other I think?
T h i s i s m y f a v o r i t e s h i t .
Also Sean of House Beard get hype
Id be angry too if my name sounded like urine
You guys should put out the books on audio it would be a great listen
I am from Sur Hunts Review, just saw his panel on The Hound with Sean. So I wanted to sub to Sean.
Awesome intro!
Also, in regards to Euron, I think he has some advanced greenseer powers but they're unformed and uncontrollable. Defend the Seven, Ashaya! May the Father judge these nonbelievers! May the Warrior & Stranger take them!
amazing
did she due her hair Melisandre color?
Aziz's Theon sounds like Frank Underwood.
The Ironborn are from South Carolina too!
No offense meant to her but Ashaya really gestures a lot with her hands when she talks XD It distracted me a couple of times lol That said, it's great to see her back in the videos! :D
Just noticed something; "Only one [Greyjoy] has never bent the knee", but what about after the failed Greyjoy rebellion?!
Technically, only Balon bent his knee to Robert, not Euron. Or at least we can assume that's the case.
Whose voice is reading the chapters? Great voice!
balon thrown into the sea, by faceless man, with a crow on shoulder.. dragons egg thrown into sea. is pretty clear IMO euron paid dragons egg.
Buddy looks like ALF!
I love when Eruon says "i need a heir worthy of 'him'..." I wonder who or what "him" is...?
Bloodstone Emperor?
When you say Euron will interact and cause suffering to characters we like, do you include Sam?
For that to happen it would mean that Euron knows who Sam is and what he, the dragonglass and the horn are about.

The worst part is Eruon has a way with people to make them follow and love him... till they let their guard down and he makes them his slave.
Why would the Three-eyed Raven initially select Euron? He is polar opposite to Bran in many ways. Thanks - enjoying your podcast very much
Saga Poetic Well, Bloodraven probably doesn't care about the character, only about the abilities of the kid.
He would do everything to defeat the Others (like he tried to handle the Blackfyres).
Also... if one of thousands skinchangers can become a greenseer and the apocalypse is coming, so you dont have much time to find someone...

Saga Poetic when speaks the vic he talks about dreaming when a boy he could fly and how do you know cant untill you try. the theory is a failed greenseer of blood raven when he realizes what euron is the connection like his flag red eye with crows and his smiling eye
It's interesting - just crazy to think Euron was a Bloodraven protege. Ugh
This accounts for the fact that not everyone is affected (the more strong-willed you are, the less affected) and how quickly everyone goes for Euron
jeezus get into it already
I'm only 5 mins in but hoping you share my belief that Euron is trying to recreate the Doom through prophecy fulfillment. I find what he says to Rodrick the Reader to be particularly telling.

####SPOILER####@
do you think euron is the true enemy or just a distraction.. the sample chapter really paints him as something more. his brother could just be delusional though. so is really something else or playing that card?
